        Growth and Development of Cherry Tomato Seedlings Grown under Various Combined Ratios of Red to Blue LED Lights and Fruit Yield and Quality after Transplanting

        적색과 청색광은 식물의 광합성에 효과적인 파장으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 다양한 조합의 적색과 청색 LED 혼합광에서 자란 방울 토마토 묘의 생장과 정식 후의 생산량과 품질에 대한 영향을 구명하였다. 파종 후 2주된 방울 토마토 묘(Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. 'Cuty')를 적색(655nm)과 청색(456nm) LED의 다양한 비율의 혼합광[red:blue = 41:59 (59B), 53:47 (47B), 65:35 (35B), 74:26 (26B), 87:13 (13B), or 100:0(0B)]과 형광등(대조구)이 설치된 생장상에 옮겨준 후 $25/20^{\circ}C$ (주/야), 광합성 광량자속 $198.6{\pm}5{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ (12시간)의 조건에서 27일간 육묘하였다. 그 후 방울 토마토를 벤로형 온실에 정식하여 75일동안 재배하였다. 정식 전 육묘 단계에서 27일간 LED 처리된 0B 와 59B 처리구를 제외한 모든 RB 혼합광 처리의 지상부 생체중이 대조구에 비해 높았다. 지상부 건물중과 엽면적 또한 지상부 생체중과 유사한 경향을 보였다. 줄기 신장은 13B, 26B, 35B에서 대조구와 다른 처리구들에 비해 유의적으로 가장 높았다. 특히, 26B는 59B처리에 비해 약 3.2배 높은 줄기 신장을 보였다. 정식 후 37일 째에 마딧수는 26B와 47B에서 유의적으로 가장 높았고, 식물 초장은 26B에서 대조구와 59B에 비해 유의적으로 높았다. 가장 높은 총 과실 생산량을 보였던 26B는 대조구에 비해 1.6배, 59B에 비해 1.8배 높은 총 과실 생산량을 보였다. 따라서, 본 연구는 적색과 청색 LED의 다양한 혼합 비율이 방울 토마토 묘의 생장 및 발달과 정식 후의 과실 생산량과 같은 생식생장에 영향에 중요한 요소임을 제시한다. Red and blue lights are effective wavelengths for photosynthesis in plants. In this study, we determined the effects of various combined ratios of red to blue LEDs on the quality of cherry tomato seedlings prior to transplantation, and their subsequent effects on the yield and quality of tomato fruits after transplanting. Two-week-old cherry tomato seedlings (Solanum lycopersicum cv. 'Cuty') were cultivated under various combined ratios of red (R; peak wavelength 655 nm) to blue (B; 456 nm) LEDs [red:blue = 41:59 (59B), 53:47 (47B), 65:35 (35B), 74:26 (26B), 87:13 (13B), or 100:0 (0B)] and fluorescent lamps and raised for 27 days. The cherry tomato seedlings were subsequently transplanted into a venlo-type greenhouse and cultivated for 75 days. At the seedling stage, the shoot fresh weight of seedlings in all RB combined treatments, except 0B and 59B, was higher than that of the control after 27 days of LED treatment. Shoot dry weight and leaf area also showed trends similar to that of shoot fresh weight. The stem length was significantly higher in 13B, 26B, and 35B treatments compared with the control and other treatments. In particular, the stem length of 26B plants was approximately 3.2 times longer than that of 59B plants. At 37 days after transplanting, the number of nodes was significantly higher in 26B and 47B plants, and the plant height of 26B plants was significantly higher than that of control and 59B plants. Total fruit yield in 26B plants, which was the highest, was approximately 1.6 and 1.8 times higher than that in control and 59B plants, respectively. Thus, the results of this study indicate that various combined ratios of red to blue LEDs directly affected to the growth of cherry tomato seedlings and may also affect parameters of reproductive growth such as fruit yield after transplantation.

        Scopolamine유도 치매쥐에서 산수유 추출물의 항치매 효과

        These days, as the average span of population’s life increases, the number patients of dementia also increases. But Research on Korean medicine is stilled limited. The research evaluates the effect of the extract from Cornus officinalis S.et Z on cognitive impairment induced by scopolamine in mice. The mice were randomly divided into five groups of ten mice. The normal group was treated with only 0.9% saline. The control group was treated with scopolamine (5 mg/kg, i.p.). The positive control group was treated with tacrin. The C100, 200 group was treated with C. officinalis extracts 100, 200 mg/kg. Memory-related behaviors were evaluated using a morris water maze and a passive avoidance test. Protein levels of BDNF, p-CREB (ser133), immunohistochemistry staining, and cholinergic activities were measured in brain tissue. The effects of C. officinalis extract significantly increased acetylcholine concentration and decreased acetylcholinesterase activity. The C. officinalis extract affected memory formation. Also, to confirm expression of protein BDNF, p-CREB (ser133) in the hippocampus, the researchers observed that immunohistochemistry and western blot increased in C. officinalis extract. These results suggest that C. officinalis provides a significant neuroprotective effect against scopolamine-induced cholinergic system and cognitive impairment.

        약사가 운영하는 항응고 약물 상담실 환자의 건강기능식품 복용 실태와 상호작용

        Despite its complex pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile, warfarin is still one of the most widely used oral anticoagulant agents. Patients taking warfarin are at particular risk of interactions with dietary supplements, yet approximately 30% use herbal or natural product supplements on a regular basis. Attaining optimal anticoagulation with this agent is clinically challenging in view of its potential interaction with many dietary supplements. The aim of this study was to present information about dietary supplement intake and interactions between warfarin and those dietary supplements. A retrospective, observational case-control study set within three pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinics in a teaching hospital was performed. Patients were included (n=398), if they were seen for an clinic visit during the 1-month period from January 1st-31st 2010 and under the stable anticoagulation control for 3 months(July 1-30 September 2009) and then evaluated for the presence or absence of 3 investigational factors of INR changes, dietary supplement intake and adverse effects. Thirteen of 66 patients who were taking dietary supplements were identified having clinically significant interactions with warfarin. The use of a dietary supplement with warfarin was associated with an increase in bleeding events (oddsratio 2.2, 95% confidence interval, 1.10-4.50)In conclusion, as dietary supplements continue to grow in popularity, patients and pharmacists should be vigilant of potential dietary supplement-drug interactions.

        MRSA 폐렴 환자에서 Vancomycin trough 농도 및 AUC24/MIC의 항 미생물학적 효과 비교

        American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy (AJHP) recommended targeting vancomycin trough concentrations of 10 mg/L or more because of therapeutic failure and potential risk of developing vancomycin resistance. Therefore, new dosage guidelines that could achieve these higher targets were needed. However, these higher trough levels have potential risk, such as renal toxicity. The purpose of this study is to compare the antimicrobial effect of the trough vancomycin level and vancomycin area under the concentration-time curve from 0 to 24 h (AUC24)/minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC). A retrospective, observational study set within pharmacist-managed clinical pharmacokinetic service in a teaching hospital was performed. Patients with MRSA pneumonia and vancomycin therapy between November 2009 and July 2010 were included (n=45). No difference between the MRSA positive group (n=17) and the MRSA negative group (n=28) were showed in the demo-graphic data and vancomycin trough level (p=0.925). However significant difference between the MRSA positive group (n=17) and MRSA negative group (n=28) were showed in AUC24/MIC 666.97 (95% CI, 419.18-1,295.51) and 1272.21 (95% CI, 1,011.6-1,389.46) respectively. (p=0.025)In conclusion, targeted exposure using AUC24/MIC compared trough concentrations is a more realistic target in patients with MRSA pneumonia.

      • ‘질 높은 사회통합’ 정책목표와 성과평가에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 다문화사회에 즈음하여 정부가 2008년부터 추진 중인 제1차 외국인정책에 대한 정책목표의 성과평가를 ‘목표달성평가 모형’을 적용하여 연구한 것이다. 제1차 외국인정책 기본계획(2008~2012)의 4대 정책목표 과제 중 하나인 ‘질 높은 사회통합’ 정책목표를 예산반영, 사회통합프로그램 운영실적, 성과지표 측정, 수혜자 만족도 등을 통해 분석하였다. 분석결과 정책목표의 달성정도에 부합된 목표의 적합성은 타당하나 목표의 적절성은 정량적인 성과지향과 내재된 문제들에 부적합으로 목표의 재검증이 요구된다. 따라서 다음과 같은 정책제언을 하였다. 첫째, 외국인정책에 대한 종합적이고 체계적인 평가를 위해서는 과제별로 사업의 특성을 고려한 성과지표의 설정이 필요하다. 둘째, 정책수혜자의 만족도를 고려한 핵심지표들을 개발하여 분야별 성과반영이 필요하다. 셋째, 이민자 위주의 외국인 정책지향 목표를 폭넓은 시각을 바탕으로 전환, 맞춤식 정책을 전담할 수 있는 독립기구 설치가 요구된다. 넷째, 외국인정책에 대한 성과지표를 단기, 중기, 장기과제로 구분하고 장기적인 로드맵을 설계할 필요가 있다.

        活性炭 數回 經口投與에 의한 Theophylline의 藥物動態에 미치는 影響

        The effect of multiple dose oral activated charcoal on theophylline pharmacokinetics was studied in five healthy, non-smoking, Caucasian adults in a randomized crossover clinical trial. Following an intravenous infusion of aminophylline(6 ㎎/㎏) subjects received either ⑴ activated charcoal 140gm in divided dosed over 12 hours(treatment group) or ⑵ water (control group). Serum theophylline concentrations were measured from 0 to 24 hours after the aminophylline infusion. Pharmacokinetic parameters were derived by fitting data points to a two compartment model using a non-linear least squares regression computer program. Treatment with activated charcoal decreased serum theophylline 1/2 from 10.3 to 5.6 hours and the serum AUC from 189.2 to 94.5mcg/㎖·hr, and increased total body clearance of theophylline from 0.590 to 1.099㎖/min/㎏. These results confirm previous reports that multiple dose activated charcoal increased the total body clearance of theophylline in healthy subject, and suggests that this treatment may prove be efficacious in the treatment of theophylline poisoning. Especially in areas where hemodialysis and hemoperfusion are not available.
