통사 점화가 영어 L2 학습자의 문법 지식 발달에 미치는 영향: 연구종합

This study aimed to make a comprehensive overview of the effects of syntactic priming on acquiring L2 grammatical structures. A total of 20 primary studies published in peer-reviewed journals (and 27 independent experiments from them) were retrieved through the systematic and comprehensive literature search. The meta-analysis of the primary studies revealed a medium-sized effect of syntactic priming (d=0.54). That is, assuming that the chance of each competing structure to occur is equal, the average weighted odds ratios of the target structure X to the alternate structure Y increased by 22.75%. Meanwhile, the effects of syntactic priming were found more robust with a greater effect size (d=1.09) when the primed condition was contrasted with the unprimed condition, showing that the chance for the target structure to occur increased by 37.85% under the primed condition. Other detailed findings and their implications are discussed.
