N/A Objectives: Hyperaldosteronism is the most important factor in sustaining salt and water retention in patients with cirrhosis and aldosterone antagonists or loop natriuretic agents are used for the treatment of ascites. But some patients do not respond to the dietary diuretic regime and the cause or mechanism of refractory ascites complex. To evaluate the difference in response after treatment of ascites and the importance of plasma aldosterone level in refractory ascites, pretreatment plasma aldosterone concentration and the degree of cirrhosis by Child-Pugh classification were investigated among cirrhotic patients. Methods: Plasma renin activity (PRA), plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) and 24 hour urinary Na+ excretion (Una+V) were tested in 16 normal control (group I), 16 cirrhotic patients without ascites (group II), 29 cirrhotic patients with ascites who responded to aldosterone antagonist (group III) and 12 cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites (group IV). Results: The amount of Una+ in group IV (19.1±13.0 mmol/day) was much lower than that of group I (81.8±42.2mmol/day), group II (75.1±12.5mmol/day), and group III (74.9±47.8 mmol/day) (p<0.01). PRA and PAC in group III (10.8±4.1ng/ml/hr, 359.8±196.8pg/ml) and group IV (12.5±8.7ng/ml/hr, 585.9±323.7pg/ml) were significantly elevated as compared to group I (1.5±0.8ng/ml/hr, 127.0±69.1pg/ml) (p<0.01 and p<0.05, respectively) and group II (4.3±2.1ng/ml/hr, 198.8±50.8pg/ml) (p<0.01 and p<0.05, respectively). But no remarkable differences were noted between group III and group IV in PRA and PAC. No negative correlations were noted between Una+V and PRA, or between Una+V and PAC in cirrhotic patients. According to Child-Pugh classification, the majority of the group IV were in C. Conclusion: Hyperaldosteronism itself is not the main cause of low sodium excretion in cirrhosis with refractory ascites. Some other factors related to the advanced cirrhosis may play a major role in the mechanism of diuretics resistance in refractory ascites.

웹 GUI에서 인터랙티브 스토리텔링에 대한 연구

웹 브랜딩은 사이트 구조와 구조에 담긴 내용 그리고 시각 컨텐츠로 부터 생성되는 "이야기하기(storytelling)"를 이해하는 것에서 출발해야 한다. 또한 인터페이스 3가지 심상모형의 구성요소 중 하나인 사용자 심상모형을 이해하기 위해 인지심리학의 장기기억을 살펴 보았으며, 인터랙티브 스토리텔링이 이미지 스토리텔링을 지닌 인터페이스와 장기기억의 감정을 지닌 사용자 사이의 상호구조 안에서 작용하는 것을 알게 되었다. 먼저 인터페이스 3가지 심상모형 중 사용자에 대해 살펴보고 "내러티브"를 시작으로 "인터랙티브 스토리텔링"의 개념과 스토리텔링 구조를 살펴보아서, 인터랙티브 스토리텔링이 사용자 장기기억 속 이야기를 자극하여 웹 브랜딩에 영향을 미치게 됨을 논하고자 한다. 또 광고회사 Nakedcomms.com 의 웹사이트를 대상으로 20대 남녀 대학생 100명에게 단순 설문조사 및 주관식 서면 인터뷰를 하여, 사용자의 장기기억과 웹GUI의 이미지 내러티브 상호간에 이루어지는 인터랙티브 스토리텔링이 사용자의 긍정 또는 부정의 감정을 유도하여 웹 브랜딩 제고에 영향을 준다는 것을 고찰하였다. Web branding should begin with understanding of site structure, contents in it and "Storytelling" created by the visual contents. To understand the user image model which is one of the components of the three Interface Image Models, long-term memory of cognitive psychology was observed to find that Interactive story telling is the interaction between the users who have interface contained in the image story telling and who have feelings of long-term memory. Beginning with "Narrative" the concept of "Interactive Story Telling and the structure of Story telling were examined for the user among the three Interface Image Models to suggest that Interactive Story telling stimulates the story in user"s long-term memory and gives effect on Web branding. And a simple survey and prepared interview with 100 male and female students in 20 s were performed for the advertising company. Nakedcomms.com. As a result, it is observed that Story telling between the user"s long-term memory and image narrative of Web GUI induces positive and negative feelings of users affecting the improvement of Web branding.

This article is aimed examining the relations between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) over the past two decades since the establishment of ROK and ASEAN dialogue relations in 1989. With regard to the ROK`s perspective, ASEAN is not only a significant friend in ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula, but a major economic partner actively engaged in trade, investment, and construction. The ROK and ASEAN have frequently exchanged human resources, recording 4 million mutual visits per year. In particular, Korea`s enhanced brand image, due to the Hallyu (Korean Wave) within the ASEAN region, has enabled ASEAN`s preference for Korean mobile phones, electronic products, and durable goods to stand eminent. Over the past two decades, ASEAN-ROK relations have developed since the early establishment period and negotiations for a permanent consultative mechanism, followed by cooperation expansion and deepening stages. More importantly, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-ROK dialogue relations, at the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit in Jeju Island in June 2010, the ROK government initiated plans for development cooperation, low-carbon green growth, and cultural and human resources exchanges, which are the three main policies of the ROK government`s diplomacy toward ASEAN. In addition, at Hanoi ASEAN-ROK Summit in October 2010, it is noteworthy that the existing ASEAN-ROK comprehensive relations had been elevated to a strategic partnership. At present, ASEAN-ROK relations have been institutionalized, through 24 cooperation mechanism meetings on issues ranging from politics/security, economy, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to transportation, the singing of the ASEAN-ROK FTA, and the establishment of the ASEAN-ROK Center. A representative mission to ASEAN in Jakarta is also planned for 2012. Following the Asian financial crisis in 1997, both the ROK and ASEAN have endeavored to expand cooperation at the East Asia level. Furthermore, the establishment of the ASEAN+3 has served as the most institutionalized mechanism in East Asia. The expansion of the East Asia Summit (EAS) by the accessionof the US and Russia has ushered in a new era in the history of the East Asia regional cooperation. At such time, a new vision would be necessary to guide the future of East Asia. In this regard, the ROK government will take the lead in submitting the EAVGII report to the ASEAN+3 Summit in 2012, successive to the 2001 EAVG report.

N/A Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of computed tomography (CT) in the prognosis of acute pancreatitis. Methods: 70 patients with acute pancreatitis visited to Yeungnam University hospital emergency room between March 1991 and April 1993 were studied prospectively with early computerized tomography. The diagnosis of pancreatitis was based on typical clinical presentation and elevation of serum amylase levels. Prognostic score, fasting days and hospital days were record. The initial computerized tomograpic findings were graded A to E and we studied the correlation of CT grade and prognostic score and fasting days and hospital days. And also we studied the correlation of CT grade and prognostic score. Result: 1) Prognostic score of acute pancreatitis correlated with fasting days and hospital days (p<0.05). 2) There was no correlation between CT grade and prognostic score (p>0.05). 3) CT grade correlated well with fasting days and hospital days (p<0.01). Conclusion: In conclusion, we suggest that both prognostic score (Ranson score, Glasgow score) and early CT examination of patients with acute pancreatitis are useful prognostic indicator.

Bernard Tschumi의 초기 작품을 중심으로 본 움직임 연구

Architect Bernard Tschumi had explored a new architectural conception through his own notional devices such as space, event and movement during 1970s. But, among these notions, the concept of movement was ambiguous and difficult to adopt it for architectural design strategy. Because the movements in everyday"s behaviour or in dancing art are significantly different from architectural thought. However he had succeeded in coining the creative notion of movement as almost real body"s and of living flesh. He invented an acute methodology and bold interpretation for his early experimental works. So, this paper tried to understand and analyse his concept of movement focused on his early works. The results of this paper"s discussion are as follows; First, Tschumi"s movement concept is dynamic one operated by desire and can violate space in physical level as well as metaphysical level. Next, the movement performs the role of generator which deforms space or even generate it. Third, his movement can be readable only when you go down and bring it in practice. Also it is unblocked potentiality, undetermined sequential material and unfinished practice. Fourth, when Tschumi"s movement could be thought as walking, this walking movement makes up a story through rhetorical speech acts that are presented by turns and detours.

Emotional Interactions on the Basis of the Self-Similarity between Users and 3D Avatar Robots

For humanoid intelligent robots to coexist and interact with human beings smoothly, in-depth interdisciplinary research on the expression depending on the type of mutual interaction is needed. Meaning, the consideration of cognitive·psychological expectations that users will have when they meet robots" face will be an important factor in interaction. This study aims for an empirical study of users" emotional reaction on the face of 3D avatar virtual robots with self-similarity. First, the literature study was designed to examine emotional interaction between robots and human beings, then SD method image investigation on participantive questionnaire and samples of the participant was performed by designing 22 samples of virtual robot faces for demonstration. As a result, ① the impression formed by the shape of robots was found to affect users" emotional interaction. ② The impression of 3D avatar robot face similar to the user and operational robot face were found to have different effect which represents the degree of difference of emotional interaction, and ③ sad or painful emotion in users" long-term memory can be converted into a positive energy through smiley robot face with self-similarity(of users).
