        한국 제조기업의 오프쇼어링이 R&D에 미치는 효과

        Purpose – This paper investigates empirically the relationship between offshoring and innovation by examining the channels through which offshoring impacts on R&D of the individual firm in manufacturing industry. Design/methodology/approach – To estimate the effects of offshoring on the firm’s R&D investment, this paper uses firm level panel data for the Republic of Korea; specifically, the micro dataset of “Survey of Business Activities” surveyed by the Statistics Korea for the years 2006 to 2015. The various specifications of R&D model are estimated by using fixed effect (FE) and FE-IV estimation methods. This paper checks whether the effect of offshoring on R&D can be fully explained by the profit variable, and whether the offshoring-profit channel and its relationship with R&D can be observed. Findings – The results of empirical analysis show that offshoring has a positive effect on R&D intensity at the firm-level, while offshoring does not impact on firm’s profit ratio. These results are robust to various specifications of R&D model and various estimation methods. Research implications or Originality – These results suggest that offshoring affects positively on R&D intensity through the offshoring-restructuring channel which offshoring leads to restructure production activities towards innovation. This paper is the first to address empirically the link between offshoring and R&D activity in Korea.

      • 노동조합의 생산성효과(I)

        본 논문은 생산성 수준과 생산성 성장에 대한 노동조합의 효과를 분석한 연구문헌에서의 이론과 실증 연구결과들을 조사 분석한 것이다. 노동조합과 생산성 수준 및 생산성 성장의 관계에 대한 이론과 연구결과들이 다양하기 때문에 노동조합이 생산성에 미치는 효과의 방향이나 크기에 대해서는 결론적으로 단언하기는 어렵고, 결국 적절한 모형과 자료를 가지고 실증분석을 해봐야 알 수 있는 문제이다. The purpose of this paper is to survey existing literature and empirical studies about the effect of unions on productivity and productivity growth in US and British. Evidence regarding union effects on productivity is incomplete in the studies surveyed in this paper. Unions have a positive effect on productivity in US, but the most of studies in British show that unions have a negative effect. But the direction and magnitude of union effects on productivity growth cannot be predicted from economic theory. It may be that there is no unitary relationship between unions and productivity growth. The comprehensive conclusion about the effects of unions on productivity growth cannot be drawn from the studies surveyed in this paper. The question of whether unions have a positive effect or negative effect on productivity and productivity growth is an empirical issue.

      • 근로자 자본참가의 생산성효과

        The purpose of this study is primarily to analyse empirically the productivity effects of worker participation in capital by Korean employee stock ownership plan that had taken newly effect on and after January 1,2002, and secondarily to examine the impact of unionization on productivity. The analysis data are those of 150 firms that listed or registered on the stock market, and introduced ESOP. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the worker participation in capitia have significantly a positive effect on productivity, but the magnitude of those effects vary according to estimation models and sectors. The elasticity of stock share owned by employees on productivity is from 0.03 to 0.24. Second, there is no unitary relationship between unionization and productivity. The coefficients of union dummy variable are positive or negative according to models and sectors as well as insignificant.

      • 임금표준화전략의 효과에 관한 연구

        본고는 노조부문과 비노조부문간 임금불평등에 차이가 나는 요인을 분해하여 임금분배에 대한 노동조합의 직.간접적인 효과를 추정한 것이다. 노동부의 $\ulcorner$1993년 직종별 임금실태조사자료$\lrcorner$를 이용한 실증분석 결과에 의하면, 노조부문과 비노조부문간에 임금결정 메커니즘이 상이하면서도 노조부문의 임금불평등이 비노조부문에 비해 작았다. 그러나 이것은 임금분산을 요인별로 분해한 결과에 의하면 노조의 임금표준화전략에 의한 축소효과라고는 보기 어렵고, 오히려 부문간 특성 분산도의 차이에 기인하는 것으로 나타났다. This study examines the effect of trade union on the structure of wage determining and the variance of wage in manufacturing and non-manufacturing, 1993, in Korea It finds that the wage determining mechanism is significantly different between union and nonunion establishments, and that the wage inequality is too significantly lower among workers in establishments that are unionized than among those that are not. However, it is not clear whether the union wage policies designed to standardize rates have the effects of reduction in wage variance. that is mostly because of smaller variance within unionized workers having the same wage determining characteristics.

      • 산업내 임금분산도에 대한 노조 효과

        본고에서는 노동조합운동과 임금, 그리고 임금분산도가 동시에 결정되는 분석모형을 이용하여 임금분산도에 대한 노동조합의 효과뿐만 아니라 노조 조직결성에 대한 임금분산도의 효과를 실증 분석한 것이다. 노조의 산업내 임금평준화효과는 통계적으로 유의미하였고, 노조 조직률이 1% 상승함에 따라 임금분산이 0.05%-0.11% 축소되는 것으로 나타났다. 임금분산이 노조의 조직결성에 미치는 효과는 통계적 유의성이 없어 노조 조직률에 대한 임금분산의 효과는 발견할 수 없었다. This paper examines the relationship between unionism and wage dispersion in Korea. This paper presents a model of in which unions, wage, and wage dispersion are simultaneously determined. This paper examine not only the effect of unions on wage dispersion, but also the effect of wage dispersion on the level of unionism. The estimated equalizing effects of unions on within-industry wage dispersion are found to be significant. By increasing 1% in the organized rate of trade unions, Wage dispersion is reduced about 0.05%∼0.11%. But the effect of wage dispersion on the level of unionism is not found.
