        Study on the Integration of Fabric Pilling Generation and Evaluation System

        An integrated pilling formation and evaluation system has been developed to evaluate the fabric pilling automatically and objectively. A pilling generation system was made using custom 3-D printed parts to generate pilling under consistent abrasion condition. A CCD camera was used to capture the images of specimen before and during the abrasion to observe the chronological changes that occur during the pilling generation process. Image analysis technique was used to measure and grade the pilling objectively.

        교사학습공동체 활동을 한 초임중등과학교사의 과학 탐구 수업에 대한 인식

        The purpose of this study was to investigate beginning science teachers' perceptions of inquiry-based science instruction using open-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview. Participants of this study voluntarily set up a goal of inquiry-based science instruction, planned inquiry-based science lessons, and shared and reflected their teaching experiences in their professional learning community for more than a year. Participant teachers recognized students' construction of core scientific concepts through performing scientific inquiry as a goal of science inquiry instruction. Participant teachers indicated that goals of science education such as 'learning scientific core concepts', 'improving students' interest of science', 'improving scientific thinking', and 'understanding the nature of science' can be achieved through students' active engagement in scientific inquiry. Participant teachers recognized not only the importance of teachers' role, but also what roles science teachers should play in order to enable students to perform scientific inquiry. Participant teachers emphasized teachers' roles such as 'identifying core concepts', 'reorganizing science curriculum', 'considering student ability', 'asking questions and providing feedbacks to students', 'explaining scientific concepts', and 'leading students' argumentation.'

        뇌성마비 아동의 한방 및 보완대체의료 이용 실태

        Objective : The aim of this study was to review the use of Korean medicine (KM) or Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapies among children with cerebral palsy (CP). Method : Literature searches were performed using Pudmed, CNKI, J-STAGE and four Korean databases. We investigated the frequency, types, predictors of the use of KM or CAM therapies used in children with CP. Results : Thirteen survey studies including use of KM or CAM among children with CP were selected - six Korean studies and seven overseas studies. The utilization rate of CAM among children with CP varied 26.8~56.0% according to the studies. CP children used KM or CAM more than other children with chronic disease. Acupuncture and Korean herbal medicine was the major treatment used in Korea, however physical manipulations such as massage, osteopathy and chiropractic were in high demand in western country. Disease severity of CP, use of CAM in the past by the parent or family member and high education of parent are the factors that significantly affect CAM utilization. Conclusion : Further studies on effectiveness and safety of KM therapies combined with conventional rehabilitation treatment would be required to expand the implementation of KM treatment for CP children.

        밀 고온 스트레스 영향 및 내고온성 증진을 위한 연구 동향

        밀(Triticum aestivum L.)은 전 세계적으로 재배되는 주요 곡물로, 인류에게 약 20%의 열량과 25%의 단백질을 공급한다. 그러나 밀의 생산성은 특히 등숙기 동안의 고온으로 인해 크게 영향을 받는다. 고온 스트레스는 잎의 노화를 촉진하고, 광합성을 저해하며, 전분 축적을 감소시키고, 단백질 합성을 변화시켜 결국 수량과 품질을 저하시킨다. 이를 극복하기 위해 밀은 열충격단백질(Heat Shock Proteins, HSPs) 발현, 항산화 방어 시스템 활성화, 삼투 조절, 전사인자 매개 유전자 조절 등의 적응 기작을 활용한다. 또한, Stay-Green (SG) 형질은 고온 환경에서도 광합성 효율을 유지하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 밀의 내열성을 향상시키기 위해 전통 육종, 마커 보조 선택(Marker-Assisted Selection, MAS), 유전체 선택(Genomic Selection, GS), 유전체 편집(Genome Editing, GE) 등의 육종 전략이 연구되고 있다. 특히, CRISPR-Cas9 기술의 발전은 표적 유전자 편집을 통해 밀의 내열성을 정밀하게 향상시키는 데 기여하고 있다. 아울러, 양적형질좌(QTL) 분석 및 전장 유전체 연관분석(GWAS)을 활용하여 고온 내성과 관련된 유전 영역을 규명함으로써 기후 변화에 강한 밀 품종 개발을 가속화할 수 있다. 향후 연구는 유전학적·분자적 접근법과 지속 가능한 농업관리 전략, 작물 모델링 기법을 융합하여 기온 상승 속에서도 최적의 밀 생산성을 유지하는 데 초점을 맞춰야 한다. 고급 육종 기술과 개선된 작물 관리 전략을 통합하면 기후 변화에 적응할 수 있는 밀 품종 개발이 더욱 촉진될 것이다. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a major cereal crop grown worldwide, providing approximately 20% calorie and 25% protein intake. Wheat productivity is significantly affected by high temperatures, particularly during the grain-filling period. Heat stress accelerates leaf senescence, impairs photosynthesis, reduces starch accumulation, and alters protein synthesis, ultimately leading to a decrease in grain yield and quality. To mitigate the adverse effects of heat stress, wheat utilizes adaptation mechanisms, including the expression of heat shock proteins, activation of antioxidant defense systems, osmotic regulation, and transcription factor-mediated gene regulation. Stay-green traits also play a role in maintaining photosynthetic efficiency at high temperatures. Breeding strategies such as traditional breeding, marker-assisted selection , genomic selection , and genome editing are being explored to improve heat tolerance. Recent advances in the CRISPR-Cas9 technology enable precise gene editing, thereby enhancing the resilience of wheat to heat stress. Additionally, quantitative trait locus mapping and genome-wide association studies facilitated the identification of genetic regions associated with heat tolerance, thereby accelerating the development of climate-resilient wheat varieties. Future research should focus on integrating genetic and molecular approaches with sustainable agronomic practices and crop modeling strategies to optimize wheat productivity under rising temperatures. The integration of advanced breeding techniques and improved crop management can facilitate the development of wheat varieties that are more resilient to climate change.

        스팀 절감량 예측을 위한 흑액 다중 효용 증발 공정 모델 개발

        This study developed the black liquor evaporation process models using the multiple-effect-evaporator according to the number of effects to predict steam consumption. The developed models were divided into the black liquor preheating and evaporation processes, and a virtual reboiler was added to predict steam consumption. In simulation results, the steam consumption in the double-effect-evaporator was decreased by 48.9 %, and as the number of effects increased, the steam consumption was decreased. Finally, the steam consumption in the octuple-effectevaporator was decreased by 61.2 %. Also, this study suggests a strategy for deriving the optimal number of effects in the process by analyzing the latent heat recovered from the saturated vapor produced in the multiple-effect-evaporator and the amount of saturated vapor produced by each effect.

        현장조사를 통한 경관가이드라인 적용에 관한 연구 - 송도 1공구 공공주택지구 중심으로

        The purpose of this study is to confirm the extent to which landscape guidelines are applied in the actual field through a fact-finding survey. The study site is 15 apartment complexes in Songdo District 1 in which the landscape guidelines are faithfully suggested. Among the various landscape guidelines, the guidelines for each component and the guidelines for the intensive landscape management zones were analyzed whether they were well followed in the filed. Through a preliminary survey using the online map, the Roadview, the landscape guidelines that should be checked in the middle and long distance views were identified, and the application of the guidelines to be confirmed in the near distance was reviewed through a field survey. As a result of the study, the average of the overall complex was 2.58 points based on 3 points as to whether the guidelines were applied to the entire complex, indicating that the guidelines were well observed overall. Among the 15 complexes, 7 complexes corresponding to the intensive landscape management zones were better observing the guidelines. As a result of the analysis on the application of each landscape guideline, 9 of the 28 guidelines were generally well followed, but 5 guidelines were not well followed. For each guideline, there was a difference in the guideline application for each complex. Compliance with the guidelines differed depending on the situation of each complex, but there were also deviations due to differences in interpretation of the contents of the guidelines. Unlike previous studies, this study has significance in that it identifies the current status of field application of landscape guidelines through field surveys. However, there is a subjective aspect in determining whether to apply the guidelines, and there are limitations in that the number of research subjects is small. For more objective and general results, it is necessary to supplement the procedures for preventing subjective judgment by researchers and to diversify research subjects and types. Also, more comprehensive research should be needed to clarify the relationship between the landscape guidelines and the scenic beauty. This study is meaningful in providing basic data for preparing landscape guidelines considering future field application.

        벼의 CRISPR/Cas9 기반 유전자 교정을 통한 내병성 및 내재해성 증진 연구 동향

        As recent advances in gene editing technologies have enabled rapid and accurate modification of target genes, new varieties are being developed through the application of gene editing technologies in various crop species. In particular, the CRISPR/Cas9 system has become a tool of choice for gene editing because it is much more economical and efficient than previous tools such as ZFN and TALEN, and is being actively used to improve various breeding traits, including biotic and abiotic stress tolerance to overcome the limitations of conventional plant breeding technologies. In this review, we retrieved 210 papers describing the utilization of CRISPR/Cas9 in rice published between 2013 and 2021 and classified them according to the field of study and traits of interest. Further case studies were conducted on 21 and 12 research papers that reported the enhancement of biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, respectively. This demonstrated that CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing can be highly effective in improving resistance to bacterial (bacterial leaf blight and bacterial leaf streak), fungal (blast, sheath blight), and viral (rice tungro spherical virus, rice black streak virus) diseases as well as various abiotic stresses, including drought, salinity, cold, and heat, in many cases, without diminishing important agronomic traits. As recent technological advances have begun to overcome the major limitations of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, such as low HDR efficiency and off-target effects, it is expected that more research on gene function and cultivar development will adopt CRISPR/Cas9 as a major gene editing tool in the future. To effectively apply such innovative technologies in crop improvement, much effort is required to establish more reasonable and detailed policies for regulating crops developed through new breeding technologies.

        The Effects of Curcumin on Inhibiting Cell Growth and Migration and Inducing Apoptosis in Neuroendocrine Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Cell Lines

        커큐민은 다양한 암에서 면역 조절 및 항암 특성을 보인 천연 화합물이다. 그러나 신경내분비 종양에서의 항종양 메커니즘은 아직 충분히 이해되지 않았다. 본 연구는 신경내분비 비소세포폐암(NE-NSCLC) 세포주인 HCC1833과 NCI-H1755에 대한 커큐민의 세포사멸 효과를 조사했다. 10, 30, 50 μM 농도에서 커큐민은 다양한 폐암 세포주에서 농도 의존적으로 세포 성장을 억제하였다. 또한, 세포 이동성이 유의미하게 감소하였다. Wound healing assay에서 30 μM 커큐민 처리 시 HCC1833 세포는 61.35±6.1%, NCI-H1755 세포는 1.7±0.24%의 상대적 이동 거리를 보였으며, Transwell migration assay에서도 30 μM 커큐민 처리 후 이동성이 감소했고 HCC1833 세포는 36.13±6.56%, NCI-H1755 세포는 56.94±7.63%를 나타내었다. Flow cytometry 분석 결과, 커큐민은 HCC1833 및 NCI-H1755 세포에서 농도 의존적으로 세포자살과 G2/M phase 정지를 유도하였다. Western blotting을 통해 커큐민이 Bax, caspase-3, Bcl-2와 같은 주요 세포자살 관련 단백질의 발현을 농도 의존적으로 조절한다는 사실이 확인하였다. 결론적으로, 커큐민은 NE-NSCLC에서 세포 성장과 이동을 억제하고, 세포 자살 및 G2/M phase 정지를 촉진하였다. 이러한 결과는 NE-NSCLC에서 커큐민의 치료적 잠재력에 대한 추가 연구의 기초가 된다고 사료된다. Curcumin, a natural compound, has demonstrated immunomodulatory and anticancer properties across various cancers. However, its anti-tumor mechanisms in pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors remain inadequately understood. This study investigated the effects of curcumin on cell death in neuroendocrine non-small cell lung cancer (NE-NSCLC) cell lines, HCC1833 and NCI-H1755. At concentrations of 10, 30, and 50 μM, curcumin exhibited dosedependent inhibition of cell growth across various lung cancer cell lines. Migration was significantly reduced by curcumin. In wound healing assays, the relative migration distance in HCC1833 and NCI-H1755 cells was 61.35±6.1 and 1.7±0.24%, respectively, at 30 μM curcumin. Similarly, in Transwell migration assays, treatment with 30 μM curcumin reduced migration, with HCC1833 cells showing 36.13±6.56 and NCI-H1755 cells showing 56.94±7.63% migration distance. Flow cytometry analysis revealed that curcumin induced dose-dependent apoptosis and G2/M phase arrest in both HCC1833 and NCI-H1755 cells. Western blotting demonstrated that curcumin regulated the expression of key apoptosis-related proteins, including Bax, caspase-3, and Bcl-2, in a dose-dependent manner. In conclusion, curcumin inhibits cell growth and migration in NE-NSCLC while promoting apoptosis and G2/M phase arrest. These results provide a foundation for further investigation into the therapeutic potential of curcumin in NE-NSCLC.
