한양대학병원 신경정신과 입원환자의 진단 분포에 관한 고찰(1981 ᅳ 1991)

The authors reviewed the medical records of 6,565 neuropsychiatric inpatients admitted to the neuropsychiatric wards of Hanyang University Hospital during the eleven years( 1981 —1991). Clinical characteristics were evaluated and discussed with special reference to their diagnostic distribution and elderly patients. The results of this study were compared to the previous study Kim KI et al(1982) from 1975 to 1980. Schizophrenia was diagnosed in 26.4%,neurosis in 22.1 %,affective disorder 17.3 %,personality disorder in 6.9%, and alcoholism and related psychosis in 6.0%. Contrast to previous study, diagnostic frequency of schizophrenia has gradually increased from 22.3% in 1981 to 35.0% in 1991, but there was no significant change in affective disorder. Diagnostic rate of neurotic depression and epilepsy declined significantly, and that of posttraumatic stress disorder and alcoholism and related psychosis rose significantly. As to sex ratio, there were more men in alcoholism and related psychosis, organic brain syndrome, epilepsy, senile psychosis, and more women in neurosis, affective disorder, and addiction. Compared to previous study, the sex ratio has reversed in addiction, mental retardation, and senile psychosis. For age distribution, 63.4% of all cases were in age group between 16 and 39. For educational status, 69.1 % of all cases were high school or college graduates. Electroconvulsive therapy has conducted in 1.1% of all cases ; 4.1% of schizophrenics and 0.4% of affective disorders. Compared to previous study, the declining trend of ECT appeared more definitely. The admission rate of patients of over 60 years old has increased gradually and their average admission rate was 5.4%. Compared to 60 year old and over rate in general population, the rate of the admitted elderly patients rose more rapidly than of general population

Corticotrophin-releasing factor (CRF), a key regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, is expressed in the central nucleus of the amygdala (CeA) and its expression is upregulated in stress-related disorders. We investigated here the effect of noxious colorectal distension (CRD) on the expression of CRF in the CeA of conscious and unconscious rats. Adult male rats with or without general anesthesia were exposed to visceral pain induced by CRD for 5min; this procedure was repeated 3 times with 1 min resting after each distension. The rats were sacrificed and sections of the CeA were immunostained for CRF as an indicator for anxiety response, and for phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase (p-ERK) as a marker for pain-specific activation of neurons; sections of lumbosacral spinal cord were immunostained for c-Fos as a marker for activation of spinal neurons. CRD elicited a significant increase in the expression of CRF and p-ERK in the CeA and of c-Fos in the spinal cord. General anesthesia attenuated the increase in CRF and p-ERK in the CeA, but did not affect the expression of spinal c-Fos. These results suggest that conscious recognition of pain at higher brain centers is an important determinant of CRF expression in the CeA.

Many changes have been taking place in agriculture. The changes continue to have impacts on agricultural economics teaching and research. In an environment of continuing change, many agricultural economics departments in the U.S. have changed their name and curriculum to attract new students who are not interested in production agriculture. This suggests that we, who are on agricultural economics faculty in Korea, need to seriously consider bold changes in curriculum and department name.

After the trauma of frontoethmoidal sinus, post-traumatic mucocele may occur. Surgical removal of the lesions rarely produces cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage and even delayed tension pneumocephalus. We experienced a case of fronto-ethmoid mucocele complicated with peri-operative CSF leakage and post-operative tension pneumocephalus which was improved by conservative treatment. It is imperative to take into account the potential for tension pneumocephalus when a patient suffers from severe headache after sinus surgery.

신라대종은 성덕대왕신종을 계승하여 새 천년을 울리기 위해 제작되었다. 본 연구에서는 신라대종이 구조와 음향 측면에서 성덕대왕신종과 어떻게 유사한지를 조사하였다. 먼저 설계 및 제작 과정을 소개하고 두 종의 크기를 비교하여 유사성을 평가하였다. 한국 종소리의 세 가지 주요 특성은 웅장하고 조화로운 타격음, 역동적인 맥놀이와 길게 지속되는 여음이다. 이 세 가지 특성을 물리적 인자를 사용하여 객관적으로 평가한다. 이를 통하여 수려한 외관과 웅장하고 아름다운 소리를 내는 대형 한국 범종의 제작에 유용한 자료를 제공하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. Silla Great Bell was manufactured in order to ring for the new millennium in succession to King Seongdeok Divine Bell. This study investigates how Silla Great Bell is similar to King Seongdeok Divine Bell in respect of structure and sound. First, design and manufacturing processes are introduced and dimensions of the two bells are compared and the similarity is estimated. Three main characteristics of the sound of a Korean bell are magnificent and harmonic striking sound, dynamic beat, and long lasting hum tone. These three features are compared and objectively estimated using physical parameters. The purpose of the study is to provide useful information to manufacture Korean bell which has beautiful appearance and excellent sound.

The Chun-cheon Citizen's Bell was cast in memory of hosting the 2010 world leasure conference and a striking ceremony was held at the city hall on December 31, 2005. In this study, vibration and sound of the bell are measured and the property of the magnificent sound of the bell is scientifically investigated. Frequency components making the sound are identified and how the frequency components decrease with time is observed using waterfall plot(3-dimensional frequency spectrum). Beat characteristics of the hum(1st frequency) and the fundamental(2nd frequency)are examined by experiment. Directivity of the sound radiation of the bell is examined by measuring the vibration and sound in several directions. Duration of the vibration and the sound is estimated using damping ratio.
