Switchable Junction Organic Photodiode based on Light-Intensity-Dependent Molecular Switch

A strategy to artificially widen linear dynamic range (LDR) of organic photodiode (OPD) by introducing a light-intensity-dependent transition of its operation mode, such that low saturation photocurrent can be overcome, is proposed. The active layer of OPD is doped with a strategically designed and synthesized molecular switch (1,2-bis-[2-methyl-5-(4-cyanobiphenyl)-3-thienyl]tetrafluorobenzene; DAB) and the resulting OPD shows typical OPD performances with an external quantum efficiency (EQE) < 100% under low-intensity light illumination but shows photomultiplication behaviors with an EQE > 100% under high-enough-intensity light illumination, resulting in artificially extended LDR up to 225 dB. Such a unique and reversible transition of operation mode by light intensity self-recognition of molecular-switch-embedded OPD can be explained by unbalanced quantum yield of photocyclization/photocycloreversion of molecular switch.

The high wind wave alert has a great impact on ships and maritime service workers navigating in the vicinity of Korea. This study aims to evaluate the appropriateness of the high wind wave alert by comparing and analyzing the observation data of major marine meteorological buoys with the high wind wave alerts in the coastal sea and offshore of the West Sea, South Sea, and the East Sea announced by the Korea Meteorological Administration for the past 11 years(2010-2020). As a result of comparing the daily, monthly, and annual statistics of the high wind wave alert and marine meteorological buoy observation data for each sea area by annual, monthly, and seasonal average, the accuracy of high wind wave alerts was very low across the entire sea area. In particular, it was analyzed that the accuracy in the coastal sea of the South Sea and Jejudo was the lowest in winter. It was confirmed that the accuracy of marine weather forecasts and alerts needs to be improved when considering the effects of the high wind wave alerts on fishing vessels, passenger ships operations and tourism, and marine leisure activities. 풍랑특보는 우리나라 부근을 항행하는 선박 및 해상 업무 종사자에게 큰 영향을 미친다. 이 연구에서는 최근 11년(2010-2020년) 동안 기상청에서 발표한 서해·남해·동해의 앞바다 및 먼바다의 풍랑특보와 주요 해양기상부이의 관측자료를 비교·분석하여 풍랑특보의 적절성을 평가하였다. 각 해역에 대한 풍랑특보와 해양기상부이 관측자료를 일별, 월별, 연별로 통계를 내어 연평균, 월평균, 계절별로 비교한 결과, 풍랑특보의 적중률이 전 해역에 걸쳐 매우 낮았으며, 특히 남해 앞바다와 제주도 앞바다의 적중률은 겨울에 가장 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 해상에서의 풍랑특보가 어선의 어업활동, 여객선 운항 및 관광, 해상 레저활동 등에 미치는 영향을 고려할 때 해양기상 예·특보의 정확성을 개선할 필요가 있음을 확인하였다.
해양사고 예방을 위한 평수구역 내 파고부이 추가설치 검토

Marine accidents frequently occur due to the unreasonable operation of ships excluded from ship departure control during marine special weather warnings within smooth water areas. Coastal wave buoys installed in smooth water areas are major reference indicators for ship departure control and can be seen as being directly connected to the safety of ships navigating smooth water areas and the coast. In this study, the location appropriateness of currently operating coastal wave buoys and additional installation in the smooth water areas were assessed by analyzing coastal marine accidents over the past 30 years (1991-2020), the main wind direction and wind speed of each major trading port, and the GICOMS ship track data in 2018. The study results showed that an additional coastal wave buoy should be installed at each of the major trading ports(Inchon Port, Pohang Port, Ulsan Port, and Busan Port) and that the location of the coastal wave buoy needs to be moved in the case of Busan Port. Based on various data analysis in this study, the suggestion for an additional installation and movement of the coastal wave buoy presented in this study is expected to contribute to improving the reliability of ship departure control and resolving safety blind spots. 해상특보가 발효되었을 때 평수구역 내에서 선박출항통제 대상에서 제외되는 선박의 무리한 운항으로 인한 사고가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 평수구역 내에 설치된 파고부이는 선박출항통제의 주요 참고 지표이며 평수구역 및 연안을 항행하는 선박의 안전과 직결된다고 볼 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 최근 30년간(1991∼2020년)의 연안 해양사고, 각 무역항의 주풍향 및 풍속, 2018년 GICOMS 선박 항적 데이터 분석을 통하여 현재 운영 중인 파고부이의 위치 적절성 및 평수구역 내 파고부이 추가설치에 대한 평가를 수행하였다. 연구 결과 국내 주요 무역항인 인천항, 포항항, 울산항 및 부산항에 각 1개의 파고부이 추가설치가 필요하며, 부산항의 경우 파고부이 1개의 위치 이동이 필요한 것으로 검토되었다. 이 연구에서 여러 가지 데이터 분석을 바탕으로 제시된 파고부이의 추가설치 및 이동에 대한 제언은 선박출항통제의 신뢰도 향상 및 안전사각지대 해소에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.
참굴(Crassostrea gigas) 탈각 공정에서 작업자 장갑에 의해 발생하는 미생물학적 위해요소 분석

This study assessed the microbiological hazards of gloves worn during the shell shucking process of the oyster Crassostrea gigas, and we suggest an in situ method for minimizing microbial contamination. The study consisted of two groups, one in which the working gloves were periodically replaced (PRG) with new gloves, and another in which the gloves were not replaced (NRG). In the PRG group, gloves were replaced every 2 h during 8 h of processing. Food pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli, Salmonella species, and Listeria monocytogenes were not found in any samples, including gloves and shucked oysters. However, Staphylococcus aureus (SA) was detected in some samples, and the contamination levels were correlated with the working time and the regular replacement of gloves. SA was not detected on gloves or oysters of the PRG group. However, it was detected in the range of <15 CFU/15 cm2 to 2.9 ×102 CFU/15 cm2 on gloves after 6 h of continuous work, and from <15 CFU/15 cm2 to 2.23 ×102 CFU/15 cm2 on oysters after 8 h. These results indicate that the SA contamination in shucked oysters originated from the working gloves, and that replacement of working gloves every 2-4 h will minimize SA contamination in oyster products.
