        E-초등학교 어린이의 영구치 맹출시기 및 순서

        치아 맹출은 나이, 성별, 인종, 시대에 따라 시기 및 순서의 차이가 있으나, 교과서에 인용되어 임상에서 사용되는 영구치 맹출 및 치근 형성에 대한 자료는 1933년 Logan과 Kronfeld가 발표한 것이므로 현재 한국 어린이의 영구치 맹출 경향과 차이가 있을 수 있다. 따라서 이번 연구의 목적은 한국 어린이의 영구치 맹출연령을 구하고, 이를 근거로 맹출순서를 알아보며, 이전 국내외 연구자료와 비교하여 차이를 알아보는 것이다. 이에 1998년부터 2005년까지 연세대학교 치과대학병원 소아치과에 내원하여 구강검진을 시행한 E-초등학교의 어린이 중 만 6세에서 만 12세의 2,619명 (남자 1,307명, 여자 1,312명)의 자료를 수집하여 영구치의 맹출시기 및 순서에 대해 연구 한 바 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 상악의 영구치 맹출시기는 중절치는 남자 만 6.81세, 여자 만 6.73세, 측절치는 남자 만7.78세, 여자 만7.65세, 견치는 남자 만10.48세, 여자 만9.92세, 제1소구치는 남자 만9.76세, 여자 만9.63세, 제2소구치는 남자 만10.66세, 여자 만10.49세, 제1대구치는 남자 만6.39세, 여자 만6.26세, 제2대구치는 남자 만12.13세, 여자 만 12.03세로 나타났다. 2. 하악의 영구치 맹출시기는 중절치는 남녀 모두 정확한 시기의 측정은 불가능하였지만, 만 6.08세 이전에 맹출한다는 것을 추정 할 수 있었고, 측절치는 남자 만6.78세, 여자 만6.65세, 견치는 남자 만9.76세, 여자 만9.05세, 제1소구치는 남자 만9.82세, 여자 만9.59세, 제2소구치는 남자 만10.67세, 여자 만10.52세, 제1대구치는 남자 만6.22세, 여자 만6.12세, 제2대구치는 남자 만11.58세, 여자 만 11.14세로 나타났다. 3. 맹출순서는 상악은 제1대구치, 중절치, 측절치, 제1소구치, 견치, 제2소구치, 제2대구치 순이었고, 하악은 중절치, 제1대구치, 측절치, 견치, 제1소구치, 제2소구치, 제2대구치 순이었다. 4. 모든 영구치에서 남자보다 여자가 빨리 맹출하였으며, 상악은 약 0.19세, 하악은 약 0.29세 먼저 맹출하였다. 5. 남녀 모두 상악은 측절치와 제1소구치 사이, 하악은 측절치와 견치 사이에 휴지기가 있었고, 남자의 휴지기는 상악 1.98년, 하악 2.98년, 여자는 상악 1.98년, 하악 2.40년이었다. The purpose of this study was to present new data on the timing and sequence of permanent teeth emergence and to compare these findings with the results of earlier studies. The dental examinations had been performed to E-elementary school students, who visited the Yonsei University Dental Hospital between 1998 and 2005; 1,307 boys and 1,312 girls with the age ranging from 6 to 12 years old. The followings were concluded. 1. Eruption time of the maxillary permanent teeth is as follows, It was 6.81 years in male and 6.73 years in female for the central incisor, 7.78 years in male and 7.65 years in female for the lateral incisor, 10.48 years in male and 9.92 years in female for the canine, 9.76 years in male and 9.63 years in female for the first premolar, 10.66 years in male and 10.49 years in female for the second premolar, 6.39 years in male and 6.26 years in female for the first permanent molar, and 12.13 years in male and 12.03 years in female for the second permanent molar. 2. Eruption time of the mandibular permanent teeth is as follows. The central incisor could not be determined in this study, but it is assumed to erupt before the age of 6.08. In the mandible, eruption time was 6.78 years in male and 6.65 years in female for the lateral incisor, 9.76 years in male and 9.05 years in female for the canine, 9.82 years in male and 9.59 years in female for the first premolar, 10.67 years in male and 10.52 years in female for the second premolar, 6.22 years in male and 6.12 years in female for the first permanent molar, and 11.58 years in male and 11.14 years in female for the second permanent molar. 3. The eruption sequence is as follows. In the maxilla, the first permanent molar erupted first, followed by the central incisor, the lateral incisor, the first premolar, the canine, the second premolar, and the second permanent molar. In the mandible, the central incisor erupted first, followed by the first permanent molar, the lateral incisor, the canine, the first premolar, the second premolar, and the second permanent molar. 4. Tooth eruption occurred earlier in female compared to male by average of 0.19 year in the maxilla and 0.29 year in the mandible. 5. In both male and female, the hiatus (interval of rest) occurred between the emergence of lateral incisor and first premolar in the maxilla while it was observed between the lateral incisor and canine in the mandible. Male had a hiatus of 1.98 years in the maxilla and 2.90 years in the mandible, while the female's were 1.98 years and 2.40 years, respectively.

        An investigation on the production of high purity Sb₂O₃was carried out by means of the acid leaching process from the roasted ore of stibnite. The approach of these studies has been to investigate purity, particle size, recovery and crystal structure of Sb₂O₃obtained through the subsequent treatments of leaching, hydrolysis and neutralization under various conditions. The results obtained in these experiments are summarized as follows; 1) It was possible to use dilute hydrochloric acid to extract Sb₂O₃from the roasted stibnite. Because of the prior roasting treatment, the contamination of impurities could also be reduced in the final products. 2) The rate of extraction of Sb₂O₃from the roasted stibnite was increased concentration of hydro-chloric acid as increased amount of addition of the acid. 3) The yield of Sb₂O₃obtained by hydrolysis of SbCl₃was increased with increasing temperature of hydrolysis. 4) The crystal structure of Sb₂O₃obtained by hydrolysis of SbCl₃at 20℃(room temperature) was confirmed as a orthorhombic crystal structure which is the same as that of valentinite. The recovery of Sb₂O₃from the roasted ore appeared to be nearly 100% under optimum conditions.

        For the photometric determination of silicon in the iron(Ⅲ) chloride, the iron(Ⅲ) was extracted to organic phase with Amberlite LA-2 in the cons. HCl solution. In the residual aqueous solution, the silicon was determined by molybdenum blue method. The method was found to be very useful to determine a low concentration of silicon in the concentrated iron sample.

        The Regulation Mechanisms of Kinesin Motor Proteins

        세포내 수송 기구는 세포의 작용과 생존에 필수적이다. 이러한 세포내 수송은 긴 미세소관을 따라서 운반체를 운반하는 미세소관 의존 분자 모터 단백질인 kinesin과 cytoplasmic dynein에 의하여 이루어진다. Kinesin은 ATP 의존적으로 미세소관의 plus-end방향으로 이동하는 모터 단백질로 세포내 소기관, 분비소포, RNA 복합체, 단백질 복합체들을 수송한다. Kinesins에 의한 다양한 운반체의 수송의 이상은 세포의 기능 이상과 연관된다. Kinesins에 의한 운반체 수송의 기본 단계는: 운반체 혹은 adaptor 단백질과의 결합, kinesin 기능 활성화와 미세소관을 따라서 이동, 그리고 올바른 위치에서 운반체와의 분리 단계로 나뉘어 진다. 최근의 연구결과들에서 kinesin 모터기능 활성화, 운반체와의 결합, 운반체와의 해리 기전이 확인되고 있으며 세포내 운반체 수송은 kinesin과 운반체를 연결하는 adaptor 단백질에 의하여서도 조절된다. 단백질 인산화 효소, 탈 인산화 효소를 포함하는 kinesin 모터 활성 조절 단백질들은 kinesin의 인산화 혹은 탈 인산화를 통하여 직접적으로 세포내 수송을 조절하거나, c-Jun NH-terminal kinase-interacting proteins (JIPs)와 같은 adaptor 단백질들과 미세소관의 간접적 수식을 통하여 세포내 수송을 조절하기도 한다. 이러한 연구결과들은 세포의 기능과 형태 유지에 관여하는 kinesin에 의한 다양한 세포내 수송 조절 기전을 이해하는데 기초적인 토대가 된다. 또한 각각의 kinesin에 대한 조절 기전을 밝히는 것은 세포생물학과 신경생리학을 이해하는데 중요하므로 본 종설에서는 kinesin에 의한 세포내 수송을 조절하는 단백질과 kinesin과 수송체와의 결합이 어떻게 조절되는지를 고찰하고자 한다. Proper intracellular transport is essential for normal cell function. Intracellular transport is mediated by microtubule-dependent molecular motor proteins, as well as kinesin and cytoplasmic dynein, which move their cargo along long, microtubule tracks in cells. Kinesins are ATP-dependent plus-end-directed motor proteins in the intracellular transport of organelles, vesicles, RNA complexes, and protein complexes. The mislocalization of these different types of cargo has been linked to cell dysfunction and degeneration. The cargo transport of kinesins can be described by the following steps: binding to the appropriate cargo and/or adaptor proteins, activation of the kinesin’s motility and movement along the microtubule, and the release of the cargo at the correct destination. Recently, several studies have revealed the mechanisms for the regulation of kinesin motor activity, including cargo loading and unloading. Intracellular cargo transport is also modulated by adaptor proteins, which link the kinesins to their cargo. The regulatory proteins, which include protein kinases and phosphatases, regulate kinesin motor activity directly through the phosphorylation or dephosphorylation of kinesins and indirectly through the modification of adaptor proteins, such as c-Jun NH-terminal kinase-interacting proteins, or of the microtubule network. These findings lay the groundwork for understanding how kinesins are differentially engaged in intracellular cargo transport. In addition, understanding the regulatory mechanisms of each kinesin is an area of key interest within cell biology and neurophysiology. In this study, we reviewed kinesins’ regulation proteins and discuss how their regulation affects cargo recognition and transport.

      • Genome-scale analysis and comparison of gene expression profile in stage of panicle and seed development in rice

        Gene expression profiles can serve as a valuable reference for deciphering gene functions. We exploited the potential of whole genome microarrays to measure the temporal expression profiles of rice genes in 13 stages of reproductive development. We could profile expression of 17,676 genes in at least one of the tissues. Differential expression analysis with compare to leaf and preceding stages of development revealed reproductive stage-preferential/-specific genes. we identified 35 genes expressing specifically during panicle and seed development. The metabolic/hormonal pathways and transcription factor families playing key role in reproductive development were elucidated after overlaying the expression data on the public databases and manually curated list of transcription factors, respectively. During floral meristem differentiation (P1cm) and male meiosis (P5cm), the genes involved in jasmonic acid and gebbellin biosynthesis were significantly upregulated. F11DAP stage of seed, containing enlargement organ, exhibited enrichment of transcripts involved in starch or sucrose biosynthesis. Genes regulating auxin biosynthesis were induced during early seed development. We validated the stage-specificity of regulatory regions of two panicle-specific genes, AK072471, Os08g0538700, and AK121412, an early seed-specific gene, in transgenic rice. The data generated here provides a snapshot of the underlying complexity of the gene networks regulating rice reproductive development.

        Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Diverticulitis by Physician`s Specialty

        Background/Aims: Several factors affecting the severity and outcomes of diverticulitis have been reported, but there is little research on physician specialty related with this disease. Therefore, we evaluated the clinical characteristics and outcomes of diverticulitis depending on physician`s specialty. Methods: Medical records of 239 patients, who had been hospitalized with first-diagnosed acute colonic diverticulitis at Kyung Hee University Hospital in Gang Dong (Seoul, Korea) from June 2006 to December 2012, were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were classified according to whether they had been managed by gastroenterologists or not. Clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes were compared between two groups. Results: Of these 239 patients, 38 (15.9%) patients were treated by a gastroenterologist and 201 (84.1%) patients by a non-gastroenterologist. Clinical characteristics such as age, gender, body mass index, comorbidity, medication, laboratory results, recurrence and complication were not significantly different between two groups. However, right-sided diverticulitis predominated in the nongastroenterologist group (79% vs . 91%, P =0.028). From the sub-group analysis of uncomplicated diverticulitis, intravenous antibiotics was used for a shorter period of time by gastroenterologists than non-gastroenterologists (3.3±1.9 days vs . 4.4±2.8 days, P =0.032). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the 3 day administration of intravenous antibiotics significantly depended on the physician`s specialty (odds ratio 7.984, 95% confidence interval 1.990-32.043, P =0.003). Conclusions: The results suggest that the duration of intravenous antibiotics for treating uncomplicated colonic diverticulitis was shortened by gastroenterology specialists without increasing operation or recurrence.
