손연성 작편곡의 트로트 대중가요 <오늘이 젊은 날> (2017) 작품 분석

작곡가 손연성(B.1977. 3. 1.-)은 2016년에 KBS 드라마 ‘별이 되어 빛나리’ OST인 트로트 풍의 대중가요 ‘나이야 가라’ 라는 음원을 발표했다. 이후 가수 김용임의 소속사 측에서 원곡의 재구성을 통해 음원을 발표하고 싶다는 요청을 받아 악곡의 구성, 화성의 구성, 악기 편성, 곡 제목을 재구성하여 2017년 5월 11일 ‘오늘이 젊은 날’ 을 발표하게 되었다. ‘오늘이 젊은 날’ 의 멜로디 구성은 우리나라 전통 민요에서 흔히 나타나는 5음계 구성이다. 트로트 형식의 창법 구사를 위해 도약음을 줄이고, 음의 개수를 최대한 절제하였다. 또한 노래 멜로디의 리듬 표현에서 당김음을 많이 썼다. 화성적 구성에 있어서는 코드 전체가 diatonic 으로 구성되어 있고, 안정적인 진행 형태이다. 또한 멜로디를 강조하는 한국 전통적인 곡의 분위기를 연출하기 위해 모든 화음이 triad 인 것이 특징이다. 최근 나이를 극복하는 내용이 주제인 트로트 형식의 곡들이 다수 발표되고 있다. 이 점을 참고 하여 손연성은 ‘오늘이 젊은 날’ 의 가사의 주제를 ‘세월이 흘러 나이가 들어가도 마음만은 항상 젊게 살자’ 로 정했다. 그리고 가사의 소재로 장년층이 공감 할 수 있는 단어와 해학적인 단어를 사용하였다. ‘오늘이 젊은 날’ 의 기본 리듬은 경쾌한 disco 형식으로 rhythm section, brass, strings가 fill in의 조화와 통일성을 이루어 트로트 형식의 색채를 더 해 준다. 작곡가 손연성은 가창 표현에 대한 지침으로 비음, 가성, 긁어내기, 비브라토, 꺽기 등 트로트 풍을 극대화할 수 있는 다양한 형태의 가창기법을 도입하였다.

신사동 호랭이 작곡 Girl Group 'Apink'의 곡 NONONO(2013)에 관한 연구

대한민국의 여자 6인조 idol group ‘Apink’의 ‘NONONO (2013)’는 2013년 7월 5일 발매된 Apink 3rd Mini Album [Secret Garden]의 Title 곡으로 작곡가 ‘신사동 호랭이’가 작사, 작곡 하였다. 총 3분 40초, 96마디로 이루어져 있으며, genre는 Dance이다. 이곡의 작곡가 ‘신사동 호랭이’가 아버지를 응원하는 내용을 주제로 가사를 제작하였다. 가사에서 특정 호칭을 사용하지 않음으로써, 넓은 범위의 ‘Healing Song’이 되었다. 편곡은 전반적으로 현악기의 대선이 돋보이는 구성이며string, guitar등이 주가 되는 classic한 악기구성이나, synthesizer 악기도 혼용되었다.

DJ Mixing 발전과정에 관한 연구

본 논문은 DJ mixing의 발전과정에 대한 연구이다. 해외뿐만 아니라 국내에도 EDM이라는 장르가 대중음악 시장에서 부각 되면서부터 공연문화와 TV방송 프로그램, club등 각종 DJ-ing에 관련된 content들의 수는 늘어가고 있지만 이에 관련된 문헌 및 연구들은 부재한 실정이다. 이에 DJ mixing에 관한 기초적인 지식과 방법들을 살펴보고 나아가 그 발전과정을 알아보기 위해 다음과 같은 방법으로 연구를 진행하였다. EDM 곡들의 구조와 tempo의 파악을 시작으로 mixing의 가장 기초가 되는 beat-matching과 cue의 기본원리를 기술했으며, mixing의 종류를 두 가지로 나누어 phrase mixing과 harmonic mixing을 설명하였다. Phrase mixing은 beat-matching을 중심으로 이루어지며, 박자를 beat, bars, phrases 순서로 파악하며 세어 나가는 것이 특징이다. DJ mixing에 있어 완벽한 transition을 만들기 위해서는 Phrase mixing에 필요한 악기 구성과 정확한 마디 분석이 중요한 요소임을 알 수 있었다. Harmonic mixing을 하기 위해선 곡마다 키와 5도권의 관계조 이해가 필요하였고, ‘Camelot wheel’ 표를 사용하면 화성학적 이론을 배제고도 직관적으로 쉽게 사용할 수 있게 하는 방법이 있었다. 상기 서술한 두 가지 mixing 방법을 기준으로 DJ용 turntable과 CD deck들과 함께 변화된 DJ mixing의 발전된 모습을 살펴보았으며, DJ들이 수동 mixing 형태의 turntable에서 고민했던 issue들이 software를 활용하여 자동화된 CD deck에 의해 해결됐음을 실습과정을 통하여 증명하였다. a 앞으로 DJ mixing의 다양한 방법과 기술들은 새로운 hardware의 발전과 함께 개발될 것이며 EDM 장르는 더욱 대중적인 분야로 자리 잡을 것이다. The interest and demand for EDM have been growing in the music market and the mediums for DJs have expanded into performance culture, TV broadcast programs, and clubs. However, there are very limited data relating to DJ Mixing. This study refer to the basic principles of DJ mixing and how DJ mixing techniques have evolved in relation to the development of Electronic music. The following methods were studied in order to investigate the basic knowledge and method about DJ mixing and to examine its development process. This study gives a definition of Phrase mixing and Harmonic mixing. First, it describes the basic principles of beat-matching and cue which are the most basic elements of mixing by understanding of EDM songs's structure and tempo. Phrase mixing is based on beat-matching techniques and is characterized by counting beats in the order of beat, bar, and phrase. It is a necessary technique in order to produce perfect transitions in DJ mixing, in addition to the required instrument configuration and accurate node analysis which are key components of DJ Mixing. Harmonic music requires understanding of the related keys and the circle of fifths. Without using harmonic theory, the method of utilizing 'Camelot wheel' table allows DJ mixing to be a more intuitive experience. With new hardware developments, various methods and new techniques of DJ mixing will be discovered. 국내 디지털 음원 유통의 NFT 활용 : 이론과 사례를 중심으로

The purpose of this thesis is to emphasizes the importance of music utilization in the music industry, and aims to clarify the need for current distribution structural change. The music industry repeats the development and decline of certain industries, and determining the success of changing industries is to accept and apply the changing times. Technology that develops with the times can be confirmed through the Industrial Revolution. Advanced technology has influenced the field of music production, i.e., the means of music utilization have been developed. Developed means of music use have become the main means of use of the times and have changed the way people use music. Digital sound sources that convert simulated music into digital files have emerged, and digital sound sources have evolved into streaming services. Streaming services have changed from owning music to consuming music. Due to the characteristics of digital sound sources and the advantages of streaming technology, the distribution of music has become more convenient than before, but the digital music market has begun to form and rise. Some companies with streaming service platforms have monopolized the digital sound source market and created a distribution industry-centered distribution structure that pays half of the proceeds from digital sound source sales. The distribution structure of creators who sell their own creations has a negative impact on creators because their profits are less than those of the distribution industry. The distribution industry has maintained its existing system without showing any willingness to improve. If there is no fundamental solution to the distribution structure, it will lead to the withdrawal of creators, which will affect the entire music industry.“ The music industry is showing signs of change after streaming. New technologies improved by the Fourth Industrial Revolution have begun to change the field of music production. Artificial intelligence will be used in the field of music production to produce music without specialized knowledge, representing the changing use of new concepts. NFT is attracting attention as a new technology to develop changing forms of music use. NFT is a cryptocurrency that enables security and authentication of the original with blockchain technology. NFT is a technology that has rapidly increased interest, with trading volume and market value soaring. The difference between the NFT and the distribution structure currently traded in the market and the distribution structure using existing streaming services is expected to improve the limitations of the existing distribution structure. In addition, it is expected to become a new digital sound source suitable for changing music usage. The music industry should not be biased toward either side, but should be constructed to create a virtuous circle of the entire yen belonging to the industry. A virtuous cycle will be the beginning of a sound music industry that benefits both diversity and industry members. I hope that the music industry will develop into a healthy music industry that can coexist with all participants. Key word : Digital Sound Source, NFT, Fourth Industrial Revolution, Sound Source Distribution, Metaverse 본 논문은 음악 산업에서 음악 이용 수단의 역할이 중요하다는 것을 강조하며 현 유통구조 변혁의 필요성에 대해 밝히는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 음악 산업은 끊임없이 특정 산업군의 발전과 쇠퇴를 반복한다. 변화하는 산업의 성공을 정하는 것은 변화하는 시대를 받아들이고 그것을 적용하는 자세이다. 시대에 따라 발전하는 기술은 산업혁명을 통해 확인할 수 있다. 발전한 기술은 음악 제작 분야에 영향을 주었고 이는 곧 음악 이용 수단을 발전시켰다. 발전한 음악 이용 수단은 시대를 대표하는 주요 이용 수단이 되어 사람들의 음악 이용 형태를 변화시켰다. 아날로그 음악을 디지털 파일로 변환한 디지털 음원이 탄생했고, 디지털 음원을 유통하는 이용 수단은 진화를 거쳐 스트리밍 서비스가 되었다. 스트리밍 서비스는 음악을 소유하던 형태에서 음악을 소비하는 형태로 변화시켰다. 디지털 음원의 특징과 스트리밍 기술의 장점으로 이전보다 편리해진 음악 유통은 디지털 음악 시장의 형성과 상승세를 보였으나, 한계점 또한 드러나기 시작했다. 스트리밍 서비스 플랫폼을 보유한 일부 기업이 디지털 음원 시장을 독과점하였고, 디지털 음원의 판매 수익의 절반을 유통비로 지급하는 유통사 위주의 유통구조를 만들어냈다. 창작자가 자신의 창작물을 판매함에도 창작자에게 돌아가는 수익은 유통사의 수익보다 적은 유통구조는 창작자에게 악영향을 주었다. 유통사는 개선의 의지를 보이지 않으며 기존 체제를 유지하고 있다. 유통구조의 근본적인 해결이 없다면 창작자의 이탈로 이어질 것이고, 그로 인해 음악 산업 전체가 영향을 받게 될 것을 지적했다. 음악 산업은 스트리밍에 이어 다시 변화의 조짐이 보이기 시작했다. 4차 산업혁명으로 인해 향상된 새로운 기술은 음악 제작 분야를 변화시키기 시작했다. 음악 제작 분야에 인공지능을 사용해 전문 지식 없이 음악을 제작할 수 있게 될 것이며, 새로운 개념이 변화할 음악의 이용 형태를 대표할 것이다. NFT는 변화할 음악 이용 형태를 발전시킬 신기술로 주목받는다. NFT는 암호화폐 중 하나로, 블록체인 기술로 보안성과 원본 증명을 가능하게 한다. NFT는 거래량과 시장 가치가 폭등하는 등 관심이 급속도로 증가한 기술이다. 현재 시장에 거래되고 있는 NFT와 유통구조를 통해 기존 스트리밍 서비스를 활용하는 유통구조와 차이점이 있으며 기존 유통구조의 한계점을 개선할 수 있을 것으로 전망한다. 또한 변화할 음악 이용 형태에 적합한 새로운 디지털 음원 이용 수단이 될 것으로 보인다. 음악 산업은 어느 한쪽으로 치우쳐진 구조가 아닌 산업 안에 속한 일원 전체의 선순환을 이룰 수 있는 구조가 되어야 한다. 선순환 구조는 음악의 다양성과 산업 구성원 모두에게 이익을 가져다줄 수 있는 건강한 음악 산업의 시작이 될 것이다. 음악 산업에 참여하는 모두가 상생할 수 있는 건강한 음악 산업으로 나아감을 희망한다. 주제어: 디지털 음원, NFT, 4차 산업혁명, 음원 유통, 메타버스

언어에 따른 선율 변화 현상에 관한 음성 언어학적 연구 : - 보아 <발렌티>를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 다양한 나라(특히 아시아의 한국어·일본어를 기준으로)의 언어로 동일한 멜로디를 가창했을 때 발생하는 ‘멜로디 변형’을 증명하고 그에 대한 원인을 규명하기 위함이다. 더 나아가 언어와 음악의 유기적 연계성을 증명하여 ‘현대 팝 음악의 음성 언어학적 접근 분석’ 연구 방향을 도출해내는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내외의 언어학, 인지신경과학, 음성학 등의 자료들과 그에 따른 이론을 기반으로 하여 일본어 원곡과 번안된 한국어 노래를 중심으로 비교, 분석하였다. 비교 분석의 1차 과정은 인지신경과학의 여러 분석 자료를 통하여 언어와 음악의 연계성 증명에 중점을 두었다. 비교 분석 2차 과정으로는 양국의 언어적 특징과 발화시 발생하는 음율적, 리듬적 차이와 원인을 분석하였다. 그 후 분석한 자료를 바탕으로 제한 조건 설정 후 분석 곡을 선정, ‘언어에 따른 멜로디 변화’의 발생 및 원인을 비교 분석 3차 과정으로 증명하였다. 그 결과, 발화 시 시간을 제어하는 일본어 특수박의 발음(撥音)과 장음(長音) 그리고 촉음(促音)이 번안 시 소실(消失)되고 그것이 엑센트의 위치 변동과 더불어 새로운 싱코페이션 생성에 기인함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 번안 시 일본어 단어가 지닌 고저 악센트, 즉 ‘모라 간 음율 관계 소멸’이 변형을 보인 멜로디의 원인임을 증명하였다. 언어는 각 민족의 발성, 발음 및 구강 구조의 시대별 변화, 정서에 이르기까지 많은 의학적, 문화적 요소를 기반으로 하고 있다. 음악 또한 그 핵심을 이루는 요소들 대부분 언어의 특징과 유기적으로 연결되어 있다. 이러한 조건들을 바탕으로 분석 증명한 본 연구는 ‘현대 팝 음악의 언어학적 접근’에 있어 공헌을 할 수 있는 자료가 될 것이다. 더불어 언어와 음악의 관계를 발화 음율의 연관성으로 다룬 시사점 또한 한·일 간 언어 발화, 발음, 음율 차이를 연구하는 양국의 연구자들에게도 체계적이며 합리적인 자료가 될 것으로 본다.
