양명학의 도덕교육적 함의 : 良知論과 知行合一說을 중심으로

본 논문의 연구 목적은 왕양명의 良知論과 知行合一說이 가지는 도덕교육적 함의들을 도덕교육의 차원에서 구체화시키는데 있다. 한국의 6차,7차 도덕과 교육과정은 이성중심의 서양 철학적 기반위에 도덕교육의 기초를 삼고 있다. 그렇기 때문에 이성에 의해 도덕적 상황에서 피해를 최소화하기 위한 도덕적 판단력과 도덕 규범의 제정과 이행이 중요성을 갖게 되었다. 그러나 7차 도덕과 교육과정에서 역시 지행의 괴리 문제가 심각하게 나타나고 있다. 그 이유는 오늘날 도덕과 교육에 가장 큰 영향력을 행사하였던 콜버그의 인지주의적 접근방법이 지와 행의 관계를 분리하여 파악하고 구체적인 사태에서 가치의 선택과 도덕적 판단력을 도덕적 실천에 비하여 우위에 두기 때문이다. 그러나 도덕성의 완전한 형성은 도덕적 지식이나 실천 둘 중 하나만으로는 이룰 수 없다. 그러므로 도덕교육의 문제인 지행의 괴리를 해결하기 위해선 도덕적 지식과 도덕적 실천의 조화로운 관계가 필요하다. 본 논문은 왕양명의 良知論과 知行合一說에서 부터 그 해답을 찾고자 한다. 먼저 선악과 시비를 판단하는 良知의 능력은 도덕교육에 있어서도 그 의미와 역할이 적용될 수 있다. 도덕실천의 근거로서 良知는 우리 마음에 선험적으로 도덕원리가 내재해 있다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 도덕교육은 우리가 이미 가지고 있는 良知를 드러내주기만 된다. 오늘날 교육의 목적은 도덕적으로 아는 바를 행하는 것으로 자연스럽게 이루어지는 교육을 하는 것이다. 양명의 知行合一說의 知는 良知이며 행은 良知가 구체적 상황에서 감응하여 이루어지는 것이다. 양명의 良知에 의해 학습자 스스로 자각 하여 실천행위를 통한 良知의 실현이 오늘날 우리가 양명의 사상으로부터 배워야할 배움과 실천의 합일교육이며 지행합일 교육이다. 그러므로 양명의 良知論과 知行合一說은 현대 도덕교육이 직면하고 있는 문제를 해결할 수 있는 이론적 기초를 제공한다. 또한 우리가 앞으로 나아가야할 도덕교육의 방향을 제시한다는데 있어서 그 의미를 지닌다. This paper has its purpose in embodying the morality educational implications of the theory of innate knowledge and the principle that knowledge must be accompanied by deed of Wang Yangming in the dimension of morality education. The 6th and 7th curriculum of morality subject puts the basis of morality education on the foundation of western philosophy centering around reason. Therefore the moral judgment to minimize the damage by reason in a moral situation and the establishment and observance of moral standards came to have importance. However the problem of separation of knowledge and conduct seriously appears in the 7th morality curriculum. The reason is that the method of approach of cognitive theory of Kohlberg that influenced the morality education of today the most grasps the relation of knowledge and conduct by separating them and gives superiority to the selection of value and the moral judgment over the moral practice in concrete situations. However the complete formation of morality cannot be achieved only by one of moral knowledge and practice. Therefore in order to solve the separation of knowledge and conduct which is a problem of morality education, the harmonious relation of moral knowledge and moral practice is needed. This paper intends to find the solution from the theory of innate knowledge and the principle that knowledge must be accompanied by deed of Wang Yangming. First the ability of innate knowledge that judges good and evil and right and wrong can have its meaning and role applied in morality education also. The innate knowledge as the basis of moral practice means that moral principles are inherent transcendentally in our minds. Therefore morality education only needs to show the innate knowledge that we already have. The purpose of education of today is to conduct education that is naturally accomplished as conducting what is known morally. The knowledge of the principle that knowledge must be accompanied by deed of Yangming is the innate knowledge, and the deed is what is accomplished by the innate knowledge's response in a concrete situation. The realization of the innate knowledge through practice by the learner's realizing by the innate knowledge of Yangming is the education of unity of learning and practice and the education of unity of knowledge and deed that we should learn from the thoughts of Yangming today. Therefore the theory of innate knowledge and the principle that knowledge must be accompanied by deed provides the theoretical basis that can solve the problem that the morality education of the modern times is facing. In addition it has the meaning in presenting the direction of morality education in which we should advance.
