        A Data Hiding Scheme Based on Turtle-shell for AMBTC Compressed Images

        Data hiding technology hides secret information into the carrier, so that when the carrier is transmitted over network, it will not attract any malicious attention. Using data compression, it is possible to reduce the data size into a small compressed code, which can effectively reduce the time when transmitting compressed code on the network. In this paper, the main objective is to effectively combine these two technologies. We designed a data hiding scheme based on two techniques which are turtle-shell information hiding scheme and absolute moment block truncation coding. The experimental results showed that the proposed scheme provided higher embedding capacity and better image quality than other hiding schemes which were based on absolute moment block truncation coding.

        桂林市 漓江 낚시어로 도구 고찰

        This text is written to study fishing tools used by fishermen at the Lijang rive in Guilin City, Chinese Guangxi Autonomous District. The LIjiang rive in Guilin is clean and abundant in fish with certain quantity of water and it runs through Guilin city, a densely-populated area developing a fishing culture. There are still fishermen making a living at fishing. Selecting three sites among the areas where the river runs through Guilin City, I studied the fishing culture of fishermen setting down and making a living here. Geographically the area was divided into upper stream, middle stream and low stream and ecologically clean area, border area where sewage comes and lower stream area. And functionally fishing area, net fishing area and cormorant fishing area. In the text, it focuses on fishing, which is as follows. According to analysis of materials used for fishing tools, many of tools are made of bamboo and horns of water buffalos. The fishing rod is made of bamboo and the horn of buffalos is used for the edge of the rod. In terms of materials, people got tools from manual work with the naturally raw materials, people get tools by purchasing them made of artificial materials. One of the noticeable thing about the bamboo raft as a fishing boat is that the stem part of it is short with rack for the fishing rod. And a variety of fishing patterns were developed. According to the study, those patterns are fishing made of bamboo, fishing with reel and line with multiple hooks, fishing with bamboo tube and fishing entirely for soft -shelled turtles. In case of bamboo fishing, the average length is very short - 167 centimeters long, which is relatively short. The length seems to be affected by spatial limit fishing on the bamboo raft. In fishing, The needle, Peidiao composed with 3 fish hooks without barb, lead weight and axes is used. There are scoop[ net used to catch fish and net used to store them. There are two types of nets used for storing - one used to store fish in fishing, attached to the boar and the other used to store fish for a long period of time, fixed in a place with the regular depth and the easy access to them. Especially the net is used to store them alive. for the commercial purpose.

        Free Radical Scavenging Activity of Enzymatic Hydrolyzates of Hot Water Extract from the Shell of Reeve's Turtle (Chinemys reevesii)

        The shell of Reeve's turtle has been used as a traditional folk medicine in Korea. We produced a hot water extract from Reeve's turtle shell according to the traditional medical practice. To release bioactive peptides, the hot water extract was enzymatically hydrolyzed with various proteases, and the free radical scavenging activity of the hydrolysate was investigated against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), hydroxyl and peroxyl radicals. The free radical scavenging activity of the enzymatic hydrolysates varied from 1 to 79% depending on the enzymes, free radical species, and concentration. The $EC_{50}$ values demonstrated that the enzymatic hydrolysates of hot water extract from the shell of Reeve's turtle are potential antioxidants.

        Successful Carapace Puncture Wound Repair with Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) in an Amur Softshell Turtle (Pelodiscus maackii)

        An Amur softshell turtle with multiple shell injuries was admitted to the Seoul Wildlife Center on 19 May 2021. The most severe lesion was a puncture wound requiring urgent closure. In addition to routine supportive therapy, the damaged shell was patched with biocompatible polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) materials (bone cement and dental acrylic) and fiberglass. Despite a few methods to repair the carapace or plastron of hard-shelled turtles, shell repair in the Amur softshell turtle has rarely been reported. This paper reports the repair process of a puncture wound in the carapace of a softshell turtle using polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). PMMA is a biocompatible acrylic polymer that forms a tight structure that holds the implant against tissue defects, such as skin, bones, and dentures. Fiberglass, a preferred fiber in various medical fields, was used with PMMA to provide extra strength and waterproof capability. After the procedure, there were no signs of edema, inflammation, bleeding, skin discoloration, or any other complications. Accordingly, this can be a method of choice in softshell turtles using biocompatible materials to cover the lesion in the carapace and provide appropriate wound management, supportive therapy, and a suitable course of antibiotics considering all other circumstances.

      • 별갑 추출물의 효소적 가수분해 및 항산화 활성

        Mud turtle (Carapax Trionycis) shell is used as oriental medicine in Korea and China. To extract functional components from mud turtle shell, optimal extraction conditions were investigated. Optimal conditions for extraction of functional components was observed at 120°C for 2 hr with water. In amino acid analysis, glutamic acid (24.60%), aspartic acid (10.67%), leucine (6.92%), glycine (6.58%) and lysine (6.69) were rich in the extract by water with optimal conditions. For further study, the extract was hydrolyzed by means of seven proteases and six carbohydrases to release bioactive materials and their antioxidant activity was evaluated against DPPH, hydroxyl and superoxide radical. Among the hydrolysates, flavourzyme and maltogenase hydrolysate showed the highest hydroxyl radical scavenging activities than those of the others enzymatic hydrolysates. However, all hydrolysates possessed weak activities against DPPH and superoxide radical.

      • 별갑 추출물의 효소적 가수분해 및 항산화 활성

        자라의 배갑인 별갑은 일선 한약방에서 많이 사용하는 한약재로 그 유효성분 및 성분의 전출에 관한 논란이 많이 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 어느 정도 해결하기 위한 연구의 일환으로 별갑으로부터 유효성분의 효율적 추출 조건을 검토하였으며 나아가 약리효과에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 별갑 원료로부터 유효 고형분의 추출조건은 120°C에서 물로서 2시간 하는 것이 가장 좋았다. 최적 조건에서 추출된 추출물의 총아미노산 함량은 약 34.1%였으며 양적으로 많은 구성아미노산은 glutamic acid, aspartic acid, leucine, lysine, glycine의 순이었다. 이들 양적으로 많은 아미노산은 전체의 약 55%를 차지하고 있었으며, 특히 glutamic acid는 전체의 약 1/4을 차지하고 있는 것이 특징적이었다. 열수 추출물의 효소적 가수분해에 의한 가수분해물의 항산화활성은 hydroxyl radical에 대하여 우수한 소거활성을 나타내었고, DPPH 및 superoxide에 대한 활성을 상대적으로 낮았다. 단백질 가수분해 효소의 경우 flavourzyme 분해물이 우수한 hydroxyl radical 소거활성을 나타내었고, 탄수화물 가수분해 효소의 경우는 maltogenase 분해물이 우수한 활성을 나타내었다.         Effects of the Vibration Stress on Cortisol and Hematological Characteristics in Soft-shelled Turtle, Pelodiscus sinensis

        We examined the effects of the vibration stress on cortisol secretion and hematological characteristics in soft-shelled turtle, Pelodiscus sinensis. For the stressed group vibration of from electric vibrator applied for 30 min with 2-h intervals during daytime () up to 28 days. Using the blood samples collected from ten turtles held once a week after vibration stress, we measured hematocrit, hemoglobin, red blood cells, cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, osmolality, , aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The results have showed that P. sinensis received vibration stress exhibit the 'typical' stress-induced physiological responses (cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, osmolality, ions, hematocrit and hemoglobin) induced by vibration stress. Our data suggested that chronic vibration stress caused substantial stress in the animal, and in particular, the persisting elevated levels of AST and ALT would be highly correlated with the adverse effects of the stress. The high hematological characteristics during entire experimental period showed that the P. sinensis could not adapt to chronic stimuli provoked by vibration stress.
