        언어,교육 : 다문화 가정 대상 한국어 교육의 현황과 성과

        The aim of this paper is to briefly consider the present state regarding Korean language education for multicultural family members, and to consider the outcomes produced so far. Married woman immigrants and their children must be one of the most significant groups for Korean language education in terms of their huge number and their roles and meanings in Korean society. In order to uplift the Korean communicative ability for multicultural family members, an effective operating system for Korean language education is needed, and also live and efficient Korean language instruction must be given by capable Korean language teachers with adequate teaching materials. A customized Korean language education must also be offered based on researches about the characteristics of multicultural family members as "Korean language learners". Korean language education for married woman immigrants has almost been set up in some extent, in terms of teaching materials and the teacher training system. Therefore, an efficient operating system must be constructed so that the developed teaching materials can be actively utilized in the site of Korean language education. A periodical retraining of Korean language teachers for multicultural family members is also necessary for the improvement of Korean language teaching efficiency. However, Korean language education for multicultural children is still in its infancy due to its late start-up. By the support of the Korean government, the curriculum of Korean language education has recently been fixed, KSL text books are being developed, and a diagnostic tool for evaluating their Korean language ability is now in progress. Many continuing concerns and support must still be provided for the improvement of their Korean language ability and fostering them as competitive and capable of speaking Korean.

        다문화 사회와 한국어 교육

        The aim of this paper is to consider the outcome of research conducted in the area of Korean language education related to the topic of a multicultural society. Many practical research such as textbooks and language functions(speaking, listening, reading, and writing) are found. Acquisition of Korean language, interlanguage, knowledge about Korean language (including pronunciation and grammar) are rarely found. This is one of the biggest differences compared to general purpose Korean. It may be the reason that research in Korean language education related to a multicultural society have been conducted to meet the needs and necessity of the actual spots. Research related to the kids from multicultural families has rapidly increased since 2009, and thus they have exceeded those of the mothers from multicultural families. Articles researched in universities located in the province have exceeded those from the Seoul-Gyeonggi area. Articles and theses researched in the early days mainly cover the topics related to the foothold of educational support, such as the necessity of Korean language education, the policy of Korean language education, curriculum of Korean language education, and textbook development. The research topics, from now on, have to be widened and deepened to provide the theoretical background for the enhancement of the efficiency of Korean language education. The wider and deeper research will ultimately attain the maturity of the studies of Korean language education.

      • OBE를 적용한 한국어 교육과정 연구 - I대학교 한국어문화교육원을 중심으로-

        This study is based on a trial application of OBE (Outcome Based Education) system with customized modifications to an actual class in a Korean language education program. The application results are analyzed with the objective to identify the effects of the system on Korean language education. To achieve this goal, we first reviewed the concept of OBE and its application cases to develop an instructional model for Korean language education. The model was then applied to the “Korean Level 4” course offered by the Korean Language course at University “I” in Korea. The application and analysis were conducted in four stages: instruction preparation – in-class delivery of instruction I – in-class delivery of instruction II – evaluation and modification. The stages of in-class delivery of instruction were accompanied by counseling for foreign students. The effectiveness of the OBE based instruction was investigated by analyzing the before-and-after survey responses of the subjects on instruction, instructor, and factors outside the class. Statistical testing of the model on instructor and instruction produced an F-value of 23.61 and a p-value of 0.000, exhibiting statistically significant effects of the independent variables in the OBE application. This points to the difference made by the OBE instruction plan, which is differentiated from existing instruction plans and composed of different educational goals and educational activities (evaluation and assignments). In addition, it led to clear identification of intended learning outcomes (ILOs) and their objective and appropriate evaluation using the rubric assessment method. This study suggests a new direction for the design of Korean language education program in the future, given the limited prior research on OBE application in the field.
