        치위생과 재학생의 전공학과에 대한 태도 및 만족도 조사

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to research attitude and satisfaction of the students in the department of dental hygiene in Jeolla-do and Chungcheong-do. Methods: We surveyed 499 students at the department of dental hygiene at colleges. During the period from October 2 to October 30, 2009 using a self-administered questionnaires. The data were analyzed with chi-square, t-test and one-way ANOVA, person correlation coefficients and multiple regression using the SPSS 13.0 program. Results: As for entrance motive with Dental Hygiene, 63.9% of the employment and selection information was 36.3% by oneself. As for pre-knowledge before entrance about dental hygiene by grade(p<0.01), as for satisfaction in the department dental hygiene by regional groups(p<0.05), as for aptitude suitability by educational system(p<0.05), as for encourage of enter school by grade and regional groups(p<0.05), by educational system(p<0.01) were statistically significant. As for encourage of enter school, aptitude suitability, pre-knowledge before entrance about dental hygiene were positive relation to satisfaction in the department dental hygiene. Multiple regression analysis indicated with explanatory power of 30.8% about satisfaction in the department dental hygiene. Conclusions: This study reports that it is necessary to carry out further studies on the various educational process and development of program in college. Dental hygiene education for the whole man and for promote efficiency in the department of dental hygiene, should be positive information activity via various media get the correct information of a department choice.         일부 치과위생사의 대학졸업연한 차이에 따른 희망진로와 현 근무처와의 일치도 및 직업 만족도 조사

        Objectives: Five years have passed since the departments of dental hygiene with four-year term released their graduates. It is necessary to investigate concordance between desired career and current job and job satisfaction in dental hygienists according to graduation term. Accordingly, a survey on concordance between desired career and current job and job satisfaction in dental hygienists according to graduation term was conducted to obtain a basis necessary for providing right job consciousness to students of departments of dental hygiene. Methods: Of departments of dental hygiene nationwide, a total of four departments consisting of two departments with 3-year term and two departments with 4-year term were randomly selected. Of 683 graduates for 2006-10 of the selected departments, 163 graduates who agreed to participate in this study through telephone and e-mail were chosen as subjects. The data of 159 graduates were analyzed except for 4 graduates who did not respond to job satisfaction. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 17 questions: 5 general questions such as graduation term, and current job and salary, 2 questions for desired career at the time of entrance and graduation, and 10 questions for the satisfaction of current job and working environments. Concordance between the desired career at the time of entrance and graduation and current job was calculated using Kappa-value. A cross analysis was conducted to investigate job satisfaction according to general features and graduation term. A statistical significance was examined using X2-test (p<0.05). Results: The Kappa-value for concordance between the desired career at the time of graduation and the current job was 0.288, showing slightly low concordance. In particular, the Kappa-value was 0.089 in the graduates of departments of dental hygiene with 3-year term, which showed significantly low concordance. The job satisfaction of the graduates was 49.1%, which was higher in the graduates with 4-year term than in the graduates with 3-year term, but was statistically insignificant (p>0.05). The detailed job satisfaction was all higher in the graduates with 4-year term than in the graduates with 3-year term except for distance to a working place, but a statistical significance was only found in working place recognition and regional status (p<0.05 ). Conclusions: This study showed differences in concordance between desired career and current job and job satisfaction between the graduates of departments of dental hygiene with 3-year term and the graduates of departments of dental hygiene with 4-year term. Therefore, the curriculum of department of dental hygiene is required to be more specifically applied in accordance with graduation term. In addition, a further study is required to develop specialized curriculums in accordance with graduation term. (J Korean Soc Dent Hygiene 2011;11(5):685-693)

        치위생(학)과의 맨눈해부학 교육 현황과 운영방안

        해부학은 치과위생사에게 필수적으로 요구되는 학문이며, 치위생학의 학문 체계 정립을 위해서는 치과위생사의 핵심 역량과 관련이 있는 기초치위생 분야에 대한 연구도 소홀히 할 수 없다. 본 연구는 치위생(학)과에서 운영하는 맨눈해부학 관련 교과목의 현황을 살펴보고 교육 방향에 대하여 제안하고자 수행하였다. 본 연구는 전국 82개 치위생(학)과와 대한치과위생사협회에서 제공한 자료를 바탕으로 해부학 관련 교과목의 개설 현황을 분석하였으며, 해부학 담당 교수 중 21명 (25.6%)을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하였다. 해부학 교과목의 개설 및 운영현황, 담당 교수자의 일반적 특성과 교과목 운영에 대한 요구도 등을 파악하기 위하여 구조화된 설문지를 이용하였고, 해부학 교과목의 운영현황을 제외한 모든 자료는 SPSS 20.0 프로그램 (SPSS Inc.)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 전국 치위생(학)과의 해부학 교과목 개설 학기는 1학년 2학기가 56.2%, 개설명은 구강해부학이 45.3%로 가장 높은 비중을 차지했다. 설문에 참여한 해부학 담당 교수의 일반적 특성은 치과위생사 면허 소지자의 비율이 85.0%로 가장 높았다. 해부학 실습의 운영 방법은 모형, 드로잉, 시청각자료의 활용 순으로 나타났으며, 외부 실습을 진행하는 기관은 조사 대상 가운데 절반에도 미치지 못하였다. 치위생(학)과의 해부학 교육에 대하여 대부분 임상 교과목과의 통합교육과 사람시신 (cadaver) 실습, 교육매체의 개발, 용어의 통일화가 필요하다는 의견을 제시하였다. 해부학 교육의 개선을 위해서는 교육 내용의 표준화, 실습의 체계화와 더불어 장기적인 발전방안이 요구된다. 본 연구를 통하여 치위생 해부학 교육의 질적 향상과 전공영역의 확립을 통한 치과위생사의 전문직화에 기여할 수 있을 것이라 기대한다. Anatomy is an essential subject for dental hygienists. As such, in order to form academic systems for dental hygiene program, we cannot ignore research related to basic dental hygiene, which is related to the main competency of a dental hygienist. This research focused on the operation status of the curriculum related to gross anatomy of the head and neck led by the department of dental hygiene and was performed in order to propose a new direction regarding academics. This research analyzed the offering status of the anatomy curriculum using shared information, released by both the Association of Korean Dental Hygienist and the homepage website of the national dental hygiene, as a foundation. In addition, we conducted a survey of 21 (25.6%) professors out of 82 dental hygiene institutions in the nation. The fill-in survey was composed in order to obtain knowledge on each department’s offering and operation system of the anatomy curriculum, general characteristics of professor and demand for the anatomy education. The SPSS 20.0 Program was used to analyze all of the materials with the exception of operation statuses of anatomic curriculums constructed via open questions. Nationally, the subject related to the gross anatomy was opened in Semester 2 during the first year 56.2% of the time, and the oral anatomy class recorded the highest percentage of 45.3%. The general trend of the professors who participated in this research was the highest recording of 85.0% for holders of dental hygiene license. Those who acquired doctoral degrees were found to be 17 individuals (85.0%) and 45.0% majored in health science. The operation methods of anatomic practices were revealed to be models, drawings, and audiovisuals while external practices failed to meet even the half-point of the study. The consensus opinion has indicated the need for a integrated education with clinical subjects, cadaver practices, developments of educational media, and standardization of anatomic terminology. Standardization of educational contents and systemization of practices are necessary for the improvement of anatomic studies of students studying dental hygiene. Cultivating anatomy specialists and sharing activities between academia are required for long-term development. We expect this research to contribute to overall quality improvement and the dental hygiene profession through the establishment of majors.

        치위생(학)과 교육과정 의사결정 과정 분석

        치위생(학)과는 면허를 받은 전문적인 치과위생사를 양성하는 곳으로 최근 몇 년간 신설대학 증설과 입학생의 증가로 양적인 성장을 이루어 왔으나, 질적인 측면에서는 뚜렷한 개선을 나타내 보이지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 교육의 질적인 특성을 단적으로 나타내 주는 것이 ‘교육과정’이라면, 현재 치위생과의 질적인 문제는 바로 교육과정의 문제를 의미한다고 해도 과언은 아닐 것이다. 이에, 교육과정 개발이 실제로 이루어지는 대학의 현실을 정확하게 이해하는 작업이 선행되어야 한다. 이를 위하여 교육과정 결정 과정 시 현장 목소리들을 통해 치위생과 교육과정이 과연 누구에 의해, 왜, 어떻게 결정되고 있는지 분석해 보았다. 치위생(학)과 전임교수 112명의 설문과, 그 중 교육과정개발 전문가들의 심층면담을 통해서 Walkingtone의 교육과정 의사결정과정 분석의 틀로 분석한 결과, 보다 합리적인 의사결정기구마련을 통해서 교육과정에 대한 협의의 장(場)이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. Even if there have been several reforms to dental hygiene department, the appropriateness of the course has been continuously questioned, showing that the course has not been properly reformed until now. Without analyzing the curriculum decision-making process of dental hygiene department, it is impossible to analyze the output of the course thoroughly. Therefore, this study clearly identifies the actual state for the curriculum decision-making process of the dental hygiene department. Questionnaire of 112 professors and In-depth interview contents of curriculum development specialists analyzed by Walkingtone(2002) Decision-Making Model. We found that there is many characteristic of decision-making process of the dental hygiene department. The characteristics of the main cause of process for the determination of dental hygiene department are shown in various ways. Based on this results, We can suggest that college should reflect official/unofficial opinions in the process for decision-making through decision-making body.

        일부 치위생과 신입생의 학과 선택 동기와 학과 SNS 이용 만족도에 관한 연구

        Background: Due to the declining number of students preparing for university entrance exams , the quota of universities has been decreasing continuously. This situation became increasingly diverse as new media used online, mobile, and PR tools to continuously invite students. This study is aimed at offering the helpful data to plan an effective PR strategy by analyzing the correlation between the major selection and satisfaction of the department’s social media usage among freshmen majoring in dental hygiene. Methods: The collected data from the self-reported survey with freshmen were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 program. The survey items were motive to select the major, social media platform that subjects used, reasons to use the media, time to visit the department’s social media platform, and satisfaction level on the department’s social media platform, using a 5-point Likert Scale. Results: The reasons for choosing a major were given by 32.2% and 15.9% respondents, respectively, as the vision after graduation and practice facilities. 39.9% and 31.4% used Instagram and YouTube for social media platforms, respectively, for using social media platform; 26.9% and 26.3% visited the department’s social media before and after entering the university, respectively; 46.4% and 24.9% used Instagram and YouTube for department social media; and they generally satisfied with the contents of the department’s social media. 40.9% of them said that information from the department’s social media was useful. 33.8% of them said the information from the department’s social media exceeded their expectations. 46.8% of them answered that the department’s social media made the department’s image positive. 33.4% got interested in the major more due to the department’s social media. According to 32.1% of respondents, the department’s social media was helpful in deciding on a major. With 35.4%, a positive correlation was discovered between the department’s practice facilities and satisfaction on the department’s social media. Conclusion: It is thought that the department’s social media should try continuously by uploading the contents to meet the users’needs on a regular basis and seeking the plans to be able to collect various opinions using surveys through the related social media so that students can select the major and, moreover, lead the positive direction to adapt the university life under the unfamiliar environment after admission.

        일개 치위생(학)과 학생의 평가자에 따른 치위생관리과정에서의 커뮤니케이션 역량 차이에 관한 사례연구

        Objectives: This study was to compare the self-evaluated outcomes of communication competency in dental hygiene process of care in the students of a dental hygiene department with the teaching evaluation, and to confirm the difference of communication competency by the evaluator. Methods: This study attempted to confirm the value and usefulness of self-evaluation and teaching evaluation on the communication competency. The subjects of this study were 43 junior students who took a course of dental medical communication at the dental hygiene department of a university located in ‘A’ city, and the self-evaluation and teaching evaluation were conducted using the evaluation paper which was modified from the communication evaluation tool in the previous studies. The collected data were subjected to the correspondence sample t-test to compare the difference between the communication competency self-evaluation before and after the education, and after communication education, while an independent sample T-test was conducted to compare the differences between the evaluators. Results: The student’s self-evaluations before and after the education showed the statistically significant difference, moreover, the post-education competency scores were improved mostly in all the items more than the pre-education competency scores. The score of selfevaluation was higher than that of the teaching evaluation in all items except one question in the case of history-information collection stage. Conclusions: It is confirmed that there is an effect to allow the students to improve their communication competency in the dental health communication education in the dental hygiene department. To evaluate the student’s communication competency, the mutual complement of self-evaluation and teaching evaluation should be confirmed in parallel each other.

        학제별 치위생(학)과 만족도 비교 연구

        본 연구는 4년제와 3년제 치위생(학)과 학생을 대상으로 한 학과 만족도의 분석을 통해 급격히 증설된 4년제에 대한 교육과정, 실습, 시설 등의 개선을 위한 기초자료로 활용하기 위해 수행되었다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 치위생(학)과 만족도 수준은 5점 만점 중 3.18로 보통인 것으로 나타났다. 2. 학제별 치위생(학)과 만족도는 4년제 수도권이 지방이나 3년제에 비해 낮았다. 3년제 학생이 4년제 학생보다 교육과정 만족도에서 높았으며(t=2.03, p<0.05), 4년제 학생은 3년제 대학 학생보다 교육시설 만족도 (t=-4.12, p<0.001)와 대인관계 만족도가 높았다(t=-3.07, p<0.01). 3. 3년제의 경우 교육시성 만족도에서 수도권 대학이 높았으나(t=5.28, p<0.001), 나머지는 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 4. 4년제는 교육과정(t=-5.39, p<0.001)과 교육시설(t= -5.18, p<0.001) 및 치위생(학)과 만족도(t=3.98, p<0.001)에서 지방 대학이 수도권 대학보다 높았다. 치위생(학)과 만족도에서 수도권 4년제의 경우 특히 교육과정에서 지방이나 3년제에 비하여 현저히 낮은 만족도를 보인 바 4년제에 맞는 교육과정의 개발이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 교육시설적인 측면에서의 보완도 필요한 것으로 나타났다. This study was conducted to utilize as the fundamental data for the improvement in curriculum, practicum programs and educational facilities of four-year universities with dental hygiene department which have increased rapidly by through analyzing the satisfaction level of dental hygiene students in four-year and three-year colleges with their departments. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. The satisfaction level with their department of dental hygiene students who were surveyed was 3.18 out of possible five points, which was on the average. 2. As for satisfaction level with the departments by educational system, the students who were in four-year colleges in the metropolitan area expressed lower satisfaction than the students who were in local and three-year colleges. The three-year college students were more gratified with the curriculums than the four-year college students(t=2.03, p<0.05), and the latter was more satisfied with the educational facilities(t=-4.12, p<0.001) and interpersonal relationships(t=-3.07, p<0.01) than the former. 3. In the case of the three-year college students, those whose colleges were located in the metropolitan area were more contented with the educational facilities(t=5.28, p<0.001), and there were no significant differences in satisfaction level with other factors. 4. In the case of the four-year college students, the local college students were more contented with the curriculums(t=-5.39, p<0.001), educational facilities(t=-5.18, p<0.001) and the departments(t=-3.98, p<0.001) than their counterparts in the colleges located in the metropolitan area. In terms of satisfaction level with the department of dental hygiene, the four-year college students located in the metropolitan area expressed noticeably lower satisfaction with the curriculums than the local and three-year college students. As a result, the development of each curriculum which is suitable for the four-year course is required, and so is the improvement in the educational facilities as well.

        대학정보공시를 이용한 치위생과 주요 지표 분석

        Objectives: This study tried to use information from the university information disclosure system as basic data to understand dental hygiene departments and search for development directions by analyzing major indicators through information disclosure data collection. Methods: Based on the information released from 2019 to 2021, 53 three-year universities with dental hygiene departments nationwide were analyzed based on data from the last three years of university alerts. Results: The indicators that the colleges with dental hygiene departments had higher averages than the overall junior colleges were: rate of levy with enrolled students within the quota, rate of faculty in full service, rate of lectures conducted by faculty in full service, employment rate, and annual scholarships per person. In the dental hygiene departments, acceptance rates of new students were 1.46–30.53 (average 10.24), admission quota was 27–160 (average 70), the number of continuing students was 39–515 (average 209), number of scholarships was 1,368,348.50 won- 4,581,073.13 won (average 3,515,647.32 won) and the employment rate ranged from 57.6% to 98.9% (average 82.8%). Conclusions: In order for the departments of dental hygiene to be competitive, it is necessary for colleges to find ways to increase pride in, and satisfaction with their departments. After graduation, if the professional dental hygienist system is established and the legal role as a dental hygienist is expanded, it will be possible to move forward as a competitive department.

        전문대학 치위생과 교육과정 편제의 변화 추이에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study is to analyze and diagnose the curriculum framework of dental hygiene department. Through document analysis process, this study found several empirical data which could give us a clue to understand characteristics of curriculum changes and factors which have impacts on those changes in curriculum at college level. In this study, we could conclude that even curriculum changes at college level had been influenced by social changes like extention of academic years from 2 years to 3 years and changes in licensure test at national level. And also, essential issues in college curriculum like amount of credits, course titles, and requirements-electives distinction etc. also were changed in accordance to social changes and requests. This study found that there is many difference of objectives, credits and course titles among colleges. For that, colleges will form a consultative group under the college level. Based on these results, we can suggest that college curriculum should be flexibly and effectively adapted to changes coping with social and policy changes. 교육과정 편제의 내용은 교양과목과 전공과목의 교육내용 성격, 이수학점, 이수구분, 학기 변경, 과목 명칭, 과목의 개설, 폐지 및 통합 등의 정보를 담고 있어서, 대학의 교육과정이 지니고 있는 특성을 가장 집약적으로 나타내 준다. 그러므로 대학의 치위생과 교육과정이 어떻게 구성․운영되고 있는지를 알아보기 위해서는 교육과정 편성 체제와 편제표를 분석해야 한다. 그러나 선행연구들을 분석해 보면 당해 연도의 학교별 교육과정 편제를 분석하여 치위생과 교육과정의 문제점을 파악하는 수준에 그치고 있어, 그러한 연구결과에 근거하여 전국의 치위생과 교육과정 편제 추이를 설명하기에는 다소 제한점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 지난 30년간 치위생과의 교육과정이 어떤 체제와 내용을 중심으로 운영되어 왔는지를 파악해 보았다. 그 결과 주요 대학의 이수학점, 이수과목, 이수구분 등에서 다양한 차이점을 발견할 수 있었다. 시대별로 어떤 시기에는 대폭 축소되었던 학점이 다시 증가하기도 하고, 다시 줄어들기도 하는 불규칙한 변화 양상들이 대학들 간에 나타났다. 그 이유는 각 대학별로 이수학점·이수구분·이수과목의 결정근거가 다르게 적용되고 있기 때문으로 판단되었다. 그러므로 특정 대학의 교육과정을 결정함에 있어서 설계 요인의 근거를 공유할 필요가 있다. 만약 치위생과의 교육과정을 결정하는데 작용하는 중요 요인들에 대해 합의를 도출할 수 있다면, 각 대학의 교육과정이 지닌 특수성을 유지하면서 동시에 표준화된 교육과정을 산출할 수 있을 것이다.

        일부 치위생과 학생의 진로결정효능감, 학습몰입, 학업성취도와 학과적응도와의 관계

        The purpose of study was to investigate the effects of career decision efficacy, learning Flow, and academic achievement on department adaptation of dental hygiene students. The subjects of the study are self-administered surveys of 200 students who indicated their intention to participate. 181 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 18.0. The results of this study show that career decision efficacy, learning flow, academic achievement affect to major satisfaction, major confidences, major attachment. The results of this study show that career decision efficacy, academic achievement affect to major vision. Some dental hygienists students need support systems such as learning methods and educational environment that can improve academic achievement and learning commitment in order to help students adapt to their department. In addition, education and career support for career decision efficacy should be continuously maintained. 본 연구에서는 치위생과 학생들의 학과적응에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴보았다. 주요 변인으로 진로 결정 효능감, 학습몰입, 자기 주도 학습 능력, 메타인지, 성적을 분석하였다. 연구대상은 참여의사를 밝힌 200명의 학생들이 자기기입식 설문 조사를 실시하고, 최종 설문지 181부를 SPSS 18.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과는 진로 결정 효능감, 학습몰입, 성적 세 가지 요인이 학과적응, 전공만족도, 전공확신도, 전공애착도에 영향을 미쳤으며, 진로 결정 효능감, 성적 두 가지 요인이 전공비전도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 일부 치위생과 학생의 학과 적응을 돕기 위해서는 기본적으로 학업성취도 향상 및 학습몰입이 일어날 수 있는 학습법, 교육환경과 같은 지원체계의 마련이 필요하다. 또한 진로 결정 효능감을 높이기 위한 진로 및 취업 관련 교육적 지원도 지속적으로 이루어져야 한다.
