The temporal dark- and bright-image sticking phenomena were examined relative to the He contents under 11% Xe content in the 50-in HD and FHD AC-PDPs with a ternary gas mixture (Xe-He-Ne). To compare the temporal dark- and bright-image sticking phenomena under various He contents, the differences in the disappearing time, display luminance, perceived luminance, infrared emission, color coordinate, color temperature, and discharge current before and after discharge were measured under 0, 35, 50, and 70% He contents. It was found that temporal dark- and bright-image sticking were reduced in proportion to the increase in He %. Thus, a high He content contributes to the reduction of temporal dark- and bright-image sticking.
Effect of oxide coating on artificial aggregates made of reject ash to prevent sticking phenomenon

Homogeneously bloated aggregates formed by sintering at rising temperatures require higher temperature than aggregate bloated by the black core mechanism. Much liquid can be produced on the aggregate surfaces and induce sticking between the aggregates. In this study, highly refractory oxides, Al2O3 and SiO2, were coated onto the aggregate surfaces in order to control sticking. The degree of sticking was analyzed by identifying the phases formed and measuring the neck length (2x) of two aggregates (radius = r) stuck together. As the amount of coating increases, the (x/r) ratio decreases, indicating that the degree of sticking was reduced. For the Al2O3 coating, a smaller particle size of the coating powder leads to a greater aggregate surface area that can be coated, which prevents sticking between the aggregates. For the SiO2 coating, increasing the particle size of the coating powder decreased the (x/r) ratio in the 1 ~ 2 wt% coating, while the ratio increased for coating above 3 wt% due to the lower melting temperature of amorphous silica and the generation of β-cristobalite. The proper amounts and suitable particle size of the Al2O3 and SiO2 coating materials were obtained for manufacturing homogeneously bloated aggregates using 100% reject ash. These results could be used as basic data for the development of a mass-production process using a rotary kiln.

This paper investigates the effects of the existing sealing methods, such as the conventional atmospheric-pressure sealing method and vacuum sealing, on temporal bright-image sticking. To produce a residual image caused by temporal bright-image sticking, the entire region of a 42-in panel with an Xe-(11%)-He(35%) gas mixture was abruptly changed to a full-white background image after displaying a square-type image at peak luminance for about 60s. From the monitoring of the difference in the display luminance, infrared emission, color temperature, and disappearing time between the cells with and without temporal bright-image sticking, it was observed that the vacuum sealing method contributes to the reduction of temporal bright-image sticking.
A Study on Temporal Dark Image Sticking in AC-PDP Using Vacuum-Sealing Method

<P>Minimizing the residual impurity gases is a key factor for reducing temporal dark image sticking. Therefore, this paper uses a vacuum-sealing method that minimizes the residual impurity gases by enhancing the base vacuum level, and the resultant change in temporal dark image sticking is then examined in comparison to that with the conventional sealing method using 42-in. ac-PDPs with a high Xe (11%) content. As a result of monitoring the difference in the display luminance, infrared emission, and perceived luminance between the cells with and without temporal dark image sticking, the vacuum-sealing method is demonstrated to reduce temporal dark image sticking by decreasing the residual impurity gases and increasing the oxygen vacancy in the MgO layer. Furthermore, the use of a modified driving waveform along with the vacuum-sealing method is even more effective in reducing temporal dark image sticking.</P>

Research on the sticking-sliding contact ratio in high-speed cutting of cupronickel B10

Accurate understanding of the frictional behavior at the tool-chip interface is critical for the cutting process. To quantitatively analyze the ratio of the sticking contact length to tool-chip contact interface length, a concise calculation model was proposed. Orthogonal cutting experiments and friction experiments were conducted to acquire the friction coefficients for use as input parameters to the model. Calculations found that the ratio, the sliding contact length, and the tool-chip contact interface length showed downward tendencies with increasing cutting speed. The maximum value of the ratio was 63.2 %, achieved at 1000 m/min, whereas the minimum was 58.6 %, achieved at 800 m/min. Furthermore, as the cutting speed rises, the sliding and apparent friction coefficients decrease, while the sticking friction coefficient remains nearly constant. The findings are helpful to improve people's cognition of sticking-sliding contact, the quality of machining, and determine the thickness and length of the tool coating.

We studied the quantitativity of the image sticking which is occured by the resicual DC in the fringe-electric field switching (FFS) mode. Actually, in the FFS mode driven by the strong fringe electric field, the asymmetric residual DC was formed in the bottom substrate. It made the impurity ion stick to the alignment layer such as polyimde layer. Thus, the differnece of the luminance existes after the stress check pattern is applied to the panel so that we can see the image sticking. This image sticking decreases as the residual DC value between specific patterns decreases. Therefore, it is necessary to control the residual DC for the FFS mode with the high image quality. It is possible to eliminate the image stiking when the extra pixel voltage is applied through the circuit tunning for reducing the difference of residual DC accroding to the panel position.
청연군주묘(淸衍郡主墓) 출토복식 중 직금(織金), 부금의(附金衣)의 보존처리

국립중앙박물관이 소장하고 있는 청연군주 출토복식(신수751 의류 일괄) 중 織金 및 金箔이 있는 복식의 보존 처리 과정을 소개하고자 한다. 금사 및 금박의 비파괴분석(X-선형광분석:XRF)을 실시한 다음 표면의 금(Au)이 열화가 진행되면서 분상화된 금층에 아교 2%용액을 도포하여 접착력을 강화하였다. 표면의 먼지와 오염물제거를 위해 진공흡입을 통한 건식세척과 분사식 습식세척을 병행하였고 손상부분을 보수하여 유물의 원형을 회복하였다. This study is process of conservation treatment for textiles and costumes containing Jikgeum(weave with supplementary golden wefts) and Bugeum(Gold sticking) among excavated ones(including all of Sinsu751) of Cheongyeongunju (a princess) collected by the National Museum of Korea. Adhesive strength was reinforced by coating 2% solution of glue on layer of gold disintegrated in the course of depletion of gold(Au) on the surface after conducting nondestructive test(X-ray fluorescent analysis) of flat gold strip and gold sticking. To remove dust on the surface and polluted materials, dry cleaning through vacuum suction and spray-type wet cleaning were conducted simultaneously and damaged part was restored to recover the relics to original state.
