      • A study on the working condition of speech-language pathologists in Korea

        Purpose: This study aims to investigate the employment type of speech-language pathologists, subscription of social security insurance, workplace, working hours, salary, and types of disability of the subjects to be treated, and analyze the information on the actual working conditions to utilize it in policy proposals for speech-language pathologists, considering the changes in economic structure and employment environment and their aspects. Methods: The study was conducted through an online Google questionnaire for speech-language pathologists. The total number of participants was 1,414. The results were processed using SPSS 25.0, and descriptive statistics were performed. Results: First, private speech therapy centers (731 people, 48.1%), social welfare facilities (240 people, 15.8%), and development centers attached to the hospital (164 people, 10.8%) were in order of the type of workplace of speech-language pathologists. Second, the types of work of speech-language pathologists were professional freelance workers (608 people, 44.9%), full-time jobs (551 people, 40.7%), contract workers of fixed payment (95 people, 7.0%), and contract workers of combination with fixed payment and rate system payment (65 people, 4.8%). Third, the insurance coverage of speech-language pathologists was in the order of four major insurances (862 people, 66.2%), non-insured (284 people, 21.8%), and two major insurances (148 people, 11.4%). Fourth, the numbers of speech-language pathologists workplaces were 1 workplace (689 people, 72.2%), 2 workplaces (206 people, 21.6%), others (36 people, 3.8%), and 3 workplaces (23 people, 2.4%). Conclusions: After COVID-19, there was a change in perception of the speech-language pathologists’ employment type. The results of this study will be used to improve the treatment of speech-language pathologists, such as through policy proposals for employment stability and the expansion of high-quality workplaces.

        교실중심 언어중재에 대한 언어치료사의 인식

        A purpose of this study is to know a perceptions of speech pathologist about classroom-based language intervention(CBLI). We made a questionnaire based on literatures, carried out survey targeting 153 speech pathologists and found out the general understanding of CBLI and the perception of a roles of speech-language pathologist and intervention models. As a result of the study, First, it is low level that the speech pathologist's general understanding of CBLI, and there are meaningful differences on the categories as qualification class, place of work and work experience. Second is that speech pathologists recognized required roles on a stage preceding intervention's significantly, indicating meaningful differences as work place and work experience. The Third is that there are meaningful differences as the awareness of suitable model on CBLI. Through the research, speech pathologists didn't know well about the idea or substance of CBLI generally. In case of CBLI, however, it is accepted to be an applicable form of intervention at the language intervention of school age children. For speech pathologists, it is a pressing challenge to develop a program of CBLI to fit in with domestic circumstance. Also, prior professional education in training courses is important to recognize the role of speech pathologists on CBLI. With regard to the model of CBLI, alternative teaching similar to domestic individual language treatment currently is accepted to be the most suitable model owing to lack of understanding about classroom situation. With thoroughly reviewing about intervention model based on those awareness, to arrange a systematic guidebook that best suit our circumstance is conclusion of this study. 본 연구는 학령기 언어장애 학생을 위한 언어치료의 한 형태로서 교실중심 언어중재에 대한 언어치료사의 인식을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구 대상은 언어치료사 153명이며, 설문지는 교실중심 언어중재에 대한 일반적인 이해, 언어치료사의 역할과 중재 모델에 대한 인식 영역으로 구성하였다. 조사 결과 첫째, 언어치료사들은 교실중심 언어중재에 대해 충분히 인식하지 못하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 교실중심 언어중재에 대한 언어치료사의 역할에 대해서는 비교적 높은 인식을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 교실중심 언어중재를 실시하는데 있어 가장 중요한 것은 적합한 프로그램의 개발이라고 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 언어치료사의 배경변인인 자격종별, 근무지 및 경력에 따른 인식에는 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 결론적으로 교실중심 언어중재에서 언어치료사가 역할을 수행하기 위해서는 교실중심 언어중재에 대한 이해를 높일 수 있는 연수나 교육의 기회가 반드시 필요하며, 국내의 상황에 맞는 학교 혹은 교실중심 언어중재 및 적합한 중재 모델 개발과 관련된 심층적인 논의가 필요할 것으로 판단되었다.

        발달장애 대상 쓰기담화 중재에 대한 언어재활사의 인식 및 요구 조사

        본 연구에서는 우리나라 언어재활사들의 쓰기담화 중재에 대한 교육이수 경험 및 지식 등을 포함하여 쓰기담화 중재에 대해 좀 더 전반적이고 심층적으로 현황을 파악하고 쓰기담화 중재에 대한 언어재활사의 인식과 요구를 살펴보고자 하였다. 언어재활사 110명이 응답한 설문을 통해 연구 결과를 도출하였다. 그 결과 대부분의 언어재활사들이 교과과정에서 쓰기담화 중재에 대해 학습하였음에도 불구하고 임상 현장에서의 쓰기담화 중재 적용법이 미흡하고 이 중재의 체계적이고 전문적인 지식 부족으로 인해 쓰기담화 중재에 대해 어려움을 느끼고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 쓰기담화 중재 현황을 살펴보면 임상 현장에서 응답한 언어재활사 중 46.4%만이 쓰기담화 중재에 대한 경험이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다시 말하면 응답자의 53.6%는 쓰기담화 중재에 대한 경험이 없는 것으로 분석되었다. 언어재활사의 쓰기담화 중재에 대한 인식 및 요구에 관한 결과, 76.4%의 언어재활사들이 쓰기담화 중재 부분이 언어치료의 중요한 영역이라고 생각한다고 답하였다. 이와 함께 담화 중재에 대한 교과과정이 필요하다고 응답한 응답자는 62.8%, 쓰기담화 중재의 지속적인 연구의 필요성에서도 90% 이상 필요하다고 하였으며, 교재 및 교구 개발에 대해서도 89.1% 필요하다고 생각하였다. 본 연구에서는 쓰기담화 중재의 언어재활사들의 경험 및 인식을 알아보았고 결과를 분석해 봄으로써 쓰기담화 중재와 관련된 교육 및 다양한 과정들이 어떻게 이루어져야 하는지에 대한 방향을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. In this study, we investigated the current status of written discourse mediation in a more general and in-depth manner, including the training completion experience and knowledge of written discourse mediation among Speech-Language Pathologists in Korea, and the Speech-Language Pathologists' perceptions of written discourse mediation. We wanted to look into the requirements. Research results were derived through a questionnaire answered by 110 Speech-Language Pathologists. As a result, although most Speech-Language Pathologists learned about written discourse intervention in the curriculum, their application of written discourse intervention in clinical settings is insufficient and they have difficulty with written discourse intervention due to lack of systematic and professional knowledge of this intervention. I could tell that I was feeling it. Looking at the status of written discourse intervention, only 46.4% of the Speech-Language Pathologists who responded in clinical settings showed that they had experience with written discourse intervention. In other words, it was analyzed that 53.6% of respondents had no experience with writing discourse mediation. As a result of Speech-Language Pathologists' perception and demand for written discourse intervention, 76.4% of Speech-Language Pathologists responded that they thought written discourse intervention was an important area of speech therapy. In addition, 62.8% of respondents responded that a curriculum for discourse mediation is necessary, more than 90% said that continuous research on written discourse mediation is necessary, and 89.1% thought that the development of textbooks and teaching aids was necessary.This study is significant in that it investigated the experiences and perceptions of Speech-Language Pathologists in written discourse intervention and analyzed the results in that it provided direction on how education and various processes related to written discourse intervention should be conducted.

        언어재활실습 여부에 따른 예비언어재활사의 역량조사

        The purpose of this study is to find out the competence of porspective speech and language pathologist according to Clinical practicums and to use it as basic data in guiding porspective speech and language pathologist. The porspective speech and language pathologist competence consisted of tasks, knowledge, skills, and language areas, and a total of 36 questionnaires were organized by dividing the language areas into sub-areas of smantics, morphology and pragmatics. A total of 105 questionnaires were collected from students with experience in Clinical practicums. A t-test, Pearson correlation analysis, and simple regression analysis were conducted to analyze the competence of porspective speech and language pathologist according to whether or not they practiced. The results of this study are as follows. First, there were significant differences between groups in all areas of knowledge, tasks, skills, and language in the competence area. Second, there was a very strong correlation between competence and language sub-areas. Third, it was found that it had a significant explanatory power in the sub-area of competence and language areas, and had a positive effect on the competence of porspective speech and language pathologist. This study is meaningful in that it should be based on theoretical knowledge of language elements to enhance the competence of porspective speech and language pathologist, and it can be confirmed that theory affects the competence of porspective speech and language pathologist. It is expected to be meaningfully used as a basis for efficient teaching methods based on the improvement of the capabilities of porspective speech and language pathologist, training training professional language rehabilitators, and theory, and theory.

        언어재활사 컴퓨터 기반 국가시험에 대한 인식과 만족도 조사

        Objectives: This study aimed to investigate speech-language pathologists’ perceptions and satisfaction with the computer-based examination after conducting a computer-based examination including a new question type developed in advance of the CBT for speech-language pathologists to lay the foundation for efficient operation of the national examination for speech-language pathologists. Methods: A total of 98 participants (11 males, 87 females) who had taken and passed the national examination for speech-language pathologists within the last 3 years participated in the current examination, and 75 (10 males and 65 females) applicants completed the survey following the examination. Results: Regarding the need to introduce CBT in the national examination for speech-language pathologists, the most common perception was ‘necessary’ (58.7%), and the most common perception was ‘not more time-consuming’ (46.7%) for the computer test compared to the paper test. Satisfaction with the CBT was most likely to be ‘satisfied’ (49.3%), and the convenience of the CBT was equally split between ‘convenient’ (41.3%) and ‘not convenient’ (41.3%) compared to the paper test. Comprehensive assessment of the applicant’s problem-solving skills by simulating realistic clinical situations (73.3%) was perceived as the biggest advantage of the CBT. On the other hand, inconvenience in calculations (62.7%) was perceived as the main disadvantage. Conclusion: Speech-language pathologists perceived the transition to CBT positively and were satisfied with the testing method. However, discomfort in operating the computer and unfamiliarity with the test method were still perceived as difficulties in the CBT. Overall, it is necessary to provide guidance on the test method and ensure technical stability so that the CBT for speech-language pathologists can be systematically implemented.

        언어재활사의 자질 함양에 관한 인식도 조사 연구

        The purpose of this study is to find out about the qualities recognition of Speech-Language Pathologist and use it as a basic material for fostering the qualities of Speech-Language Pathologist. The research method produced 80 questions of online questionnaire about the quality of language rehabilitation, and distributed them to 100 subjects. First, recognition of Speech-Language Pathologist, age and martial status were not important, but career or education level was recognized as important. Second, the qualities of counseling in Speech-Language Pathologist by job institutions was highest in the order of welfare center, private institution/center, private hospital, general/ niversity hospital, etc, school/education institution. Third, Speech-Language Pathologist by career of the professional qualities was the highest is more than 2 years and less than 3 years, and the lowest is more than 1 year and less than 2 years. Fourth, there was a significant correlation between the qualities of Speech-Language Pathologist by career, between professional qualities and career, between counseling qualities and career, and between career, expertise applied to therapeutic activities. These results suggest that systematic training and support are continuously required to focus on professional skills applied to professional qualities, counseling qualities, and therapeutic activities to maintain and improve the qualities of speech-language pathologist. 본 연구는 언어재활사를 대상으로 언어재활사의 자질에 대한 인식도를 조사하여 언어재활사의 자질 함양을 위한 기초자료로 활용하는 것이 목적이다. 연구방법은 언어재활사의 자질에 대한 온라인 설문지 80문항을 제작하여 100명의 대상자들에게 배포 후 회수하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 치료사의 자질로 연령과 결혼은 중요하지 않으나, 경력이나 교육수준은 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 근무기관에 결과 상담자질은 복지관, 사설기관/센터, 개인병원, 대박/종합병원, 기타, 학교/교육기관 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 경력에 대한 전문적 자질은 경력 2년 이상 3년 미만이 가장 높았으며 1년 이상 2년 미만이 가장 낮게 나타났다. 넷째, 경력에 상관관계는 전문적 자질과 경력 간, 상담 자질과 경력 간, 치료활동에 적용하는 전문기술과 경력 간에서 유의미한 상관관계가 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 언어재활사의 자질 유지 및 향상을 위해 전문적 자질, 상담 자질, 치료활동에 적용하는 전문기술을 중점적으로 체계적인 교육 및 지원이 지속적으로 필요함을 시사한다고 볼 수 있다.

        상호 간 협력 모델에 기초한 언어재활사의 협력 태도 연구

        Study of Cooperative Attitudes of Speech-Language PathologistsBased on Mutual Cooperation ModelsMiji Kwon Abstract: In this study, language-speech pathologists were surveyed to identify the level of perception of cooperative attitudes based on a mutual cooperation model. Online surveys were distributed to language-speech pathologists and 67 copies were recovered. First, an average of 4.14±.55, was a positive understanding of cooperation attitudes. Second, the perception of cooperation with caregivers was high in categories of cooperative attitudes. Third, there was a significant difference in the group of clinical careers, final educational background, and language treatment due to differences in cooperative attitudes by language-speech pathologists according to relevant background characteristics. Fourth, a significant correlation was found in all categories in terms of cooperative attitudes by language-speech pathologists. The results of this study showed the perception of cooperative attitudes of field language-speech pathologists. Based on this, it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on strategies for cooperation with caregivers for language-speech pathologists in the future.         심리운동에 대한 언어재활사의 인식조사

        본 연구는 심리운동에 대한 언어재활사의 인식을 알아보기 위한 조사연구이다. 이 연구의 참여자는 언어재활사 1급 혹은 2급 자격증을 소지하고 있으며, 현재 언어재활사로 근무하고 있는 언어재활사 72명을 대상으로 선정하였다. 연구결과, 언어재활사의 근무처 중 심리운동이 진행되고 있거나, 언어재활 서비스 대상자가 심리운동을 치료로서 받고 있는 경우는 드물었는데, 심리운동에 대해 잘 모른다는 것이 그 이유였다. 대부분의 언어재활사는 심리운동에 대해 들어본 적은 있었고, 심리운동을 주변 동료를 통해 알게 되었으며, 심리운동을 심리치료의 한 분야로 인식하고 있다. 심리운동을 통해 긍정적인 심리적 효과를 기대하고 있고, 한편으로는 심리운동과 언어재활 간의 관련성이 부족하다는 의견도 있었다. 심리운동에 대한 언어재활사의 인식이 향상되기 위해서는 심리운동 관련 홍보 및 연구가 활발하게 진행되어야 한다고 지적하였다. 따라서 심리운동에 대한 언어재활사의 인식향상과 심리운동과 언어재활의 적극적인 협력을 위해서는 심리운동에 대한 홍보와 다양한 주제의 연구가 활발해져야 할 필요가 있다. This study aims to find out the perception of speech-language pathologists on psychomotorik. The study participants were selected from 72 pathologists currently working as speech-language pathologists with level 1 or level 2 speech-language pathologist certification. The result of the study shows that psychomotorik was not employed or was not used as the treatment for most of the language rehabilitation service patients at their workplace. It was due to the reason that they were not knowledgeable about psychomotorik. Most speech-language pathologists have heard about psychomotorik from their colleagues, and it was recognized as one of the fields of psychotherapy. Some are expecting a positive psychological effect through psychomotorik. On the other hand, there was an opinion that it lacks relevance between psychomotorik and language rehabilitation service. They pointed out that advertisements and research about psychomotorik are necessary to improve the perception of psychomotorik among speech-language pathologists. Therefore, there is a need for active research on various subjects and promotions for psychomotorik to improve the perception of psychomotorik among speech-language pathologists and to join in with psychomotorik and speech therapy actively.

        언어치료사의 말더듬아동 치료경험에 관한 근거이론 분석

        배경 및 목적: 말더듬 치료에서 언어치료사가 차지하는 중요성에 대한 여러 연구가 보고되어 있다. 많은 언어치료사들이 다른 말ㆍ언어장애군의 치료에 비해 유창성장애 치료에 더 어려움을 토로하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이러한 언어치료사의 말더듬아동 치료경험을 분석하여 중심현상과 관련요인을 살피는 것을 목표로 하였다. 방법: 본 연구는 질적 연구방법 중의 하나인 근거 이론 접근방법에 따라 언어치료사의 말더듬아동 치료 경험을 분석하였다. 연구대상은 총 다섯명의 언어치료사였으며 심층면담을 통하여 자료를 수집하였다. 결과: 언어치료사의 말더듬아동치료와 관련된 경험들은 “말더듬 치료에 대한 막막함”을 중심축으로 전개되는 것으로 나타났다. 중심현상을 생성시키는 인과적 조건은 “열악한 배움 환경”, “부정적 인식”이었다. 중심현상의 강도에 영향을 주는 환경적인 요소인 맥락적 조건으로는 “부모로 인한 어려움”, “아동의 여건”이 작용하였다. 중심현상의 해결에 영향을 미치는 중재상황에는 “전문성 개발하기”, “성공적 치료경험” 등이 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 중심현상을 해결하기 위한 전략으로는 “성공적 치료의 모색”, “치료의 포기”, “치료의 회피”를 사용하는 것으로 나타났다. 언어치료사의 말더듬아동 치료경험의 유형은 “현실도전형”, “현상유지형”, “현실회피형”으로 분류되었다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구결과는 언어치료사들이 말더듬아동 치료에 막막함을 경험하고 있는 것으로 분석하였으며 이에 대한 관련요인을 분석하였다. 치료의 막막함에 대한 대처 방안은 치료 현장에서뿐 아니라 학회 및 협회차원에서 이루어져야 하고, 말더듬에 대한 사회적 편견은 국가와 사회적 측면에서 다루어질 필요가 있음을 논의하였다. Background & Objectives: A number of studies have been conducted on the importance ascribed by clinicians to stuttering therapies. A substantial number of clinicians have reported more difficulty with fluency disorder therapies than with therapies for other speech disorders. The aim of the present study was to analyze the experiences of speech pathologists with therapies for stuttering children and, in doing so, to investigate the central phenomenon of those experiences and its causal and contextual factors. Methods: In analyzing the experiences of speech pathologists with therapies for children who stutter, the present study utilized the ground-theory approach, which is a qualitative methodology. Data were obtained by means of intensive interviews with five speech pathologists about their experiences with stuttering therapies. Results: The central phenomenon in the experiences of speech pathologists with children who stutter was found to be a sense of “helplessness with respect to stuttering therapies.” The causal conditions of the central phenomenon were found to be a “poor learning environment” and “negative perceptions of the effects of therapy.” This phenomenon was found to be reinforced by the contextual conditions of “difficulties with parents” and “conditions of the stuttering children.” “Development of professional therapeutic skills” and “experience with successful therapy” were found to be the remedial factors with respect to the central phenomenon of a sense of helplessness with stuttering therapies. Among the remedial strategies reported for the phenomenon of clinician helplessness were “search for successful therapies,” “abandonment of therapy,” and “avoidance of therapy.” The experiences of speech pathologists with therapies for children were classified as “challenging type,” “status quo type,” and “avoiding type.” Discussion & Conclusion: The present study analyzed the factors involved in the sense of helplessness reported by speech pathologists with respect to therapies for children who stutter. The results of this study indicated that any program intended to remedy speech pathologists’ sense of helplessness with stuttering therapies should be managed not only by the clinicians themselves, but also by an academy or professional association. The study further concluded that societal prejudice against stuttering needs to be dealt with at the societal and governmental levels.

        언어재활사의 감정노동과 소진

        Purpose : This study explored emotional labor and burnout felt by speech-language pathologists who encounter subjects who have communication difficulties. The purpose of this study is to understand their characteristics and to use the data to seek preparation plans. Methods : We analyzed the results of a survey aimed at 160 speech-language pathologists nationwide. The 46-question questionnaire was organized into 10 questions asking about the general characteristics of speech-language pathologists; 14 questions about emotional labor; and 22 questions about burnout. It also measured characteristics of the participants according to the degree of emotional labor and burnout. Results : There was no difference of emotional labor according to the general characteristics of speech-language pathologists. However, burnout scores were different, with females scoring higher than males in emotional exhaustion. In particular, the point of burnout, emotional exhaustion, and depersonalization of the 25- to 30-year-old group was high. Team leaders’ emotional exhaustion points were higher than that of speech-language pathologists or principals. Emotional labor and exhaustion were correlated. The points of burnout, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization were higher in the risk group of the emotional labor than in the normal group. Conclusions : Emotional labor of speechlanguage pathologists was associated with burnout and with high emotional labor experience burnout. When a speech-language pathologist has less than three years of experience, women experience more exhaustion than men. It is necessary to develop programs such as education and counseling to deal with these problems. 목적 : 본 연구에서는 언어재활사가 의사소통에 문제를 가지고 있는 대상자들을 직접 대면하면서 느끼고있는 감정 노동과 소진을 연구하고자 하였다. 언어재활사들의 특성을 파악하여 이에 대한 대처 방안을모색하는데 본 연구 자료가 활용되기를 바란다. 방법: 전국에 있는 언어재활사 160명을 대상으로설문으로 조사한 결과를 분석하였다. 설문지는 언어재활사의 일반적인 특성을 묻는 10개 문항, 감정노동 영역에서 14개 문항, 소진 영역에서 22개 문항, 총 46개 문항으로 구성하였다. 언어재활사들의대상자 특성에 따른 김정 노동 및 소진의 정도, 김정노동과 소진 간 상관관계 등을 분석하였다. 결과: 언어재활사들의 일반적 특성에 따라서 감정 노동에 차이가 없었다. 그러나 언어재활사 특성에 따라소진 점수에는 차이가 있었다. 소진의 정서적 탈진은 남성보다 여성의 점수가 높았고, 25-30세의 젊은연령층에서 소진 및 정서적 탈진, 비인격화의 점수가 높았다. 그리고 팀장의 소진 점수가 언어재활사및 원장보다 높게 나타났다. 그리고 감정 노동과 소진은 상관이 있었으며, 감정 노동의 하위요소별위험군이 정상군보다 소진의 총점 및 소진의 하위 영역 중 정서적 탈진과 비인격화 점수가 더 높았다. 결론 : 언어재활사의 감정 노동이 소진과 연관되며 감정 노동이 높은 집단이 소진을 많이 경험하였다. 특히 언어재활사의 경력이 3년 이하로 적을 때, 여성이 남성보다 더 소진감을 많이 경험하고 있다. 이를 다루기 위한 교육 및 상담 등의 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것이다.
