        청소년의 성향적 휴대폰 이용동기와 중독, 언어폭력에 관한 탐색적 연구: 서울,경기 지역 중,고등학생을 중심으로

        본 연구는 중·고등학생 740명을 대상으로 청소년들의 휴대폰 중독, 휴대폰 언어폭력이 성별, 학교급별에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있는지 규명하고자 했다. 또한 커뮤니케이션 성향 변인(논쟁성, 언어적 공격성, 대화개방성), 성향적 휴대폰 이용동기가 휴대폰 중독에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지, 커뮤니케이션 성향 변인, 성향적 휴대폰 이용동기, 휴대폰 중독이 휴대폰 언어폭력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 규명하고자 했다. 연구결과 첫째, 여성의 휴대폰 중독 정도가 남성에 비해 높게 형성되는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 성별, 학교급별간 휴대폰 언어폭력 정도에는 유의한 차이가 도출되지 않았다. 셋째, 여성이거나 휴대폰 이용량이 많을수록, 자기현시 및 표현 동기, 오락 및 여유추구 동기가 높을수록, 환경감시 및 학습 동기가 낮을수록 휴대폰 중독 정도가 높았다. 넷째, 언어적 공격성이 높을수록, 논쟁성은 휴대폰 언어폭력 정도에 정적인 영향을 미쳤고, 부모와의 대화개방성은 휴대폰 언어폭력에 부적인 영향을 미쳤다. 성향적 휴대폰 이용동기 중 오락 및 여유추구 동기, 휴대폰 중독은 휴대폰 언어폭력에 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 청소년의 바람직한 휴대폰 이용을 장려하기 위한 함의를 도출하였다. This study surveyed 740 middle and high school students to investigate any differences in their mobile phone addiction and mobile phone verbal bullying according to gender and grade, how their mobile phone addiction would be influenced by communication traits, argumentativeness, verbal aggression, openness for conversation, and dispositional mobile phone use motives, and how their mobile phone verbal bullying would be affected by the variables of communication traits (argumentativeness, verbal aggression, and openness for conversation), dispositional mobile phone use motives, and mobile phone addiction. The research findings were as follows: first, the girls displayed a higher degree of mobile phone addiction than the boys; second, there was no significant difference in the respondents` mobile phone verbal bullying according to gender and school; third, the degree of mobile phone addiction was higher when they were female, used mobile phones a lot, had high self-presentation motives and leisure & entertainment motives, and were subject to surveillance & learning motives in a lesser degree; and finally, when the verbal aggression level was high, argumentativeness had positive impacts on mobile phone verbal bullying while openness of parents` conversation had negative impacts on it. Leisure & entertainment motives of dispositional mobile phone use motives had positive effects on mobile phone verbal bullying along with mobile addiction. The study results were then used to provide some implications for the encouragement of proper mobile phone uses among adolescents.

        대학생의 자아분화, 스트레스 대처 및 대인관계능력이 휴대폰 중독에 미치는 영향

        본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 휴대폰 중독에 미치는 영향 요인을 자아분화, 스트레스대처 및, 대인관계능력을 중심으로 알아봄으로써 대학생의 바람직한 휴대폰사용과 휴대폰 중독 중재를 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 시도되었다. 연구대상은 M시와 J시에 소재한 2개 대학의 대학생 507명을 대상으로 하였으며, 자료분석은 SPSSWin 21.0 프로그램을 이용하여 Pearson 상관분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 연구대상자의 평균 평점은 자아분화 2.77점, 스트레스대처 2.61점, 대인관계 능력3.65점 및 휴대폰 중독 2.40점으로 나타났다. 휴대폰 중독 정도에 차이를 보이는 연구대상자의 특성은, 월 휴대폰 요금, 사용시간, 휴대폰 활용 빈도였다. 연구대상자의 자아분화, 대인관계능력과 휴대폰 중독과는 부적 상관관계가, 스트레스 대처 중 소극적 대처와는 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구대상자의 휴대폰 중독에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 자아분화, 스트레스 대처, 휴대폰 7시간 이상 사용, 대인관계능력, 휴대폰 5~7시간미만 사용, SNS 활용 순이었다. 이러한 결과는 대학생의 휴대폰 중독 예방을 위한 체계적인 중재 프로그램 개발에 중요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으리라 사료된다. The purpose of the present study is to provide basic data for desirable use of mobile phone and intervention for mobile phone addiction of university students by identifying factors affecting mobile phone addiction of university students focused on their self-differentiation, stress coping and interpersonal relationship ability. Subject of study was 507 students in universities located in M-si and J-si and Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed for data analysis using SPSS Win 21.0. Mean rating of subjects in the result of the study was shown to be 2.77 points for self-differentiation, 2.61 points for stress coping, 3.65 points for interpersonal relationship ability and 2.40 points for mobile phone addiction. Characteristics of subjects who showed difference in mobile phone addiction level were monthly mobile phone bill, time spent on mobile phone and frequency of mobile phone use. Self-differentiation and interpersonal relationship ability of subjects had a negative correlation with mobile phone addiction and a positive correlation with passive coping of stress coping. Factors affecting mobile phone addiction of subjects were self-differentiation, passive coping, time spent on mobile phone of 7 hours or longer, interpersonal relationship ability, time spent on mobile phone of hours between 5 and 7 and SNS utilization in the order from big to small. These results are expected to be utilized as important basic data for development of systematic intervention program for prevention of mobile phone addiction of university students.

      • 청소년의 휴대폰 이용실태와 중독적 이용

        The purpose of this study was to find the trend and addictive inclination in mobile phone use among adolescents. And 545 middle school students and 551 high school students living in Daejon(big-sized city), Cheongju(middle-sized city), Okchon(rural area). were selected and the questionnaire was conducted during March 22 to April 9, 2004. Major findings were as follows: 1) The most important motive of mobile phone use among adolescents was found to be 'since peer group have their own mobile phone', whereas practical motive such as 'easy contact with business' among adults. 2) Thirty-nine percent of respondents spent 2∼30 thousand Won per month, showing highest ratio. Mostly respondents' parents pay phone bill for their children. and 14.4% of respondents experienced not paying the phone bill until dead line. 3) The respondents thought that mobile phone has some positive functions such as tighten the friendship, getting away from stress, loneliness, and feelings of alienation, eash contact, and sharing lots of informations with friends. Especially, the fact mobile phone is used as a tool of tightening the friendship is very different from adults. Whereas, the respondents thought that mobile phone has some negative functions. 4) As a whole of respondents, the average level of addictive mobile phone use showed a little lower than 3(mid point in 5 likert scale). The group of 'addictive use' showed average 3.1, and furthermore 3.9 in disturbing daily living part. 5) Among respondents, the group showing 'addictive use' in mobile phone use was more likely to be lower self-esteem and high blue devils than their counter parts. This results implied that psychological problem could cause overuse mobile phone among adolescents.

        휴대폰의 중독적 사용을 예측하는 변인들의 탐색

        This study explored the predicting variables affecting the addictive mobile phone use. The specific purposes of this study were to explore 1) the related variables on 7 factors of demographic, psychological, interpersonal relationship, personality, leisure-environmental, media-specific and so on differed between the addictive use group and general use group of mobile phone. 2) the significant predicting variables affecting the addictive mobile use. 3) the most important factor and the variable affecting the additive mobile phone use, A sample of 1,646 from middle school students between the ages of 12 to 40, who uses mobile phone completed a questionnaire survey. First, significant predicting variables of the addictive mobile phone use were depression, personal expenses, recreational reason, imitation, sending frequency of text message, age, instrumental reason, income, number of friends, passive strategies for stress variables. Specially, depression variable was the most important variable in predicting the addictive mobile phone use. Second, media-specific factor appeared the highest explaining value(R2) than any other factors in predicting the addictive mobile phone use. On the bases of the results of this study, variables related to the addictive mobile phone use and their possible interventions were discussed. 이 연구는 휴대폰의 중독적 사용을 예측하는 다양한 변인들을 탐색하고자 시도되었다. 이 연구의 연구문제는 첫째, 휴대폰 중독적 사용자들이 인구통계, 심리, 대인관계, 성격, 매체특성, 여가․환경의 7개 하위요인에 포함된 변인들에서 어떤 특징이 있는지를 알아보고, 둘째, 휴대폰 중독적 사용을 유의미하게 예측하는 변인들을 알아보고, 셋째, 휴대폰 중독적 사용의 가장 중요한 예측변인과 요인을 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 전국의 만 12세에서 40세까지 휴대폰 사용자 1,646명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 결과에 따르면, 첫째, 휴대폰의 중독적 사용을 예측하는 변수로는 우울, 용돈, 오락적이유, 모방성, 문자발신건수, 연령, 도구적이유, 소득, 친구수, 소극적대처 변인이 유의하였다. 이들 예측변수 중에서 우울이 가장 예측력이 높은 변인이었다. 둘째, 매체특성요인이 심리, 대인관계, 성격, 여가환경, 기타 요인보다 설명력이 가장 높은 요인으로 나타났다. 기존연구의 결과들과의 비교와 함께 이 연구의 제한점, 시사점이 논의되었다.

        중고교생의 휴대폰사용 유형에 대한 비교분석 연구

        The focus of this research is on the actual usage of mobile phones among middle and high school students (Youths). The content of this research includes the usage period of mobile phones, the monthly average charge for calls, and information of charging methods and charge bearers. Disputes involving pay, degree of concern towards pay, expenditure of the usage of mobile phones and calls, number of inputted telephone numbers, text messages, reasons of mobile phone usage, and mobile phone etiquette are also included in the research. The goal of this research is to teach teenagers of productive methods of using mobile phones, such as to positively affect their studies and relationships. This research will help prevent and help students overcome mobile phone addictions. The research was found through questionnaires and in depth interviews. The results of this research conclude that there is a tendency for teenagers to use their mobile phones for more trivial purposes than the important matters, compared to the reasons adults use their phones. What seems trivial to adults are at times important issues to teenagers. To teenagers the mobile phone is a means of communication to express themselves effectively. It is also a way to escape the boredom of everyday life and keep in perpetual contact with close friends. In addition, because of a lack of recreation for teenagers, the mobile phone has become a type a toy that is always available. The average monthly payment for the use of mobile phones is higher for middle school students than it is for high school students. It is therefore concluded that middle school students use their mobile phones more than high school students. As predicted, the percentage of calls made and received by the same and other sex friends is the same. However, the percentage of calls received exceeds that of the calls made to parents. The first reason students use mobile phones is to find out what their friends are doing. The second reason is to search for information on-life when bored, and the third reason is to download pictures of animation characters, unique ringing sounds, and pictures of celebrities. Among 80 percent of the students answered that they had not received any education about mobile phone etiquette. Education through media would be appropriate. Most students first own a mobile phone between their first year of middle school and their first year of high school. At an average one teenager talks on his/her mobile phone for about 6.2 seconds per call to about 13.9 same sex friends. On the other hand, he/she will talk for about 7.6 seconds per call to about 6.2 other sex friends. Although teenagers have more same sex friends, they spend more time talking with their other sex friends. Also, teenagers make about 3-4 calls a day while they send about 20 text messages daily. The reliance level on text messages is significantly high. The more attached teenagers are to their mobile phones the more they are likely to use wireless Internet services. Listed in order of popularity, downloading different ringing sounds and animation characters, checking email, playing wireless Internet games, and chatting are come of the services students use. However, overall, the use of wireless Internet services is not high. Most students can punch about 86.9 text keys per minute. The more a student relies on his/her mobile phone, the more he/she is likely to send number messages (messages sent solely in numbers that carry certain meanings). In regard to the in depth interviews, the usage of mobile phones among middle school students, overall has little potential of becoming a social problem. In comparing the usage of mobile phones between students who are well adjusted to school life and those who are not, students who had trouble adjusting, normally had to nag their parents for a mobile phone. On the other hand, students who had little trouble adjusting were given mobile phones from their parents. Their parents bought them mobile phones to keep in contact with and know the whereabouts of their children. According to the results of the in depth interviews, students who had trouble adjusting at school felt they had strong friendships in part because of their mobile phones. On the other hand, students who adjusted well at school relatively used their mobile phones to keep in contact with family members. They also used their phones to express themselves more freely through text messages to close friends and relatives. Their usage of mobile phones is more appropriate. Of the interviewed students who did not own mobile phones, most were expecting to buy a mobile phone soon. In the meantime, they admit they use their friends mobile phones, almost to the extent that they share them.

      • 휴대폰 중독군과 비중독군의 어머니의 양육태도와 의사소통 차이비교: 중학생을 대상으로

        The purpose of this study is to compare the mother`s rearing attitude and communication between mobile phone addiction group and non-addiction group in middle school students. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was performed with 574 students from 3 middle schools (1 boy school, 1 girl school, 1 coeducation school) at G-city in Gangwon Province. The data was collected from the 10th to 24th of July in 2010. Statistical analysis of the results was carried out by means, frequencies, chi-square, t-test and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: There were significant differences in mobile phone addiction group and non-addiction group in regard to sex, school year, grades, mother` age, purpose of mobile phone use, activity after school, phone bill per month. Also There were significant differences in mother`s rearing attitude and mother`s communication between two groups. Conclusion: Mobile phone addiction among students is not serious, however, possibility of becoming an addict still remains. This study suggests that we have to educate them about proper mobile phone use in advance to prevent them from becoming a mobile phone addict in early stage. Therefore, we need to develop an educational program to prevent mobile phone addiction.

        < Special Issue> : Adolescents` Characteristics and Motives in Predicting Problematic Mobile Phone Use

        The purpose of this study is to (1) identify addiction symptoms that are uniquely associated with mobile phone use among adolescents in Korea; (2) examine how background characteristics are related to addiction symptoms; and (3) explore how background characteristics, motives, and the amount of mobile phone use predict addictive use of mobile phones. Using a survey of 550 adolescents in Korea, this study identified three addiction symptoms: intrusion, attachment, and withdrawal. The regression models suggest that background characteristics, including impulsivity, peer conformity, imitation, and social anxiety, strongly explain the variance of addictive symptoms. Results show that instrumental motives for using the mobile phone are positively related to addictive behaviors. The amount of mobile phone use was positively related to addiction, even though the percentage of the variance explained in the regression models was small.

        휴대폰의 기능, 위험에 대한 인식과 중독적 이용의 관계에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 휴대폰의 다양한 기능 이용에 있어서 이용자들의 성별에 따른 차이를 살펴보고, 이러한 기능들이 이용자들의 위험에 대한 인식, 중독적 이용과 어떠한 관계를 가지는지 분석하였다. 이를 위해 부산시내 대학에 재학 중인 휴대폰 이용자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 휴대폰의 다양한 기능을 남성과 여성이 성별에 따른 차이 없이 사용하고 있으며, 몇몇 기능들은 여성들이 더욱 많이 사용하고 있었다. 또한, 휴대폰 이용에 대한 위험의 인식은 전반적으로 여성이 남성보다 더 높은 위험인식 점수를 보였으며, 이러한 결과를 통해 휴대폰을 이용함에 있어서 여성들이 남성들에 비해 다양한 위험들을 인식하고 있다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 휴대폰의 기능 이용에 있어서 이용자들은 일상생활에 적용되는 단순한 기능의 이용에 적극적이며, 이러한 기능이 중독적 이용과 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 위험에 대한 인식과 중독적 이용은 정적인 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 중독적 성향이 높은 사람이 위험에 대한 인식도가 높다는 것인데, 이것은 모바일 미디어를 중독적으로 이용하는 사람들은 모바일 미디어의 이용에 따른 위험을 알면서도 이를 계속적으로 이용하는 것이라 볼 수 있다. 이러한 결과로 볼 때, 일상생활에서 휴대폰의 단순한 기능을 반복적으로 사용하고, 비교적 높은 중독성향을 가지는 여성이용자들이 휴대폰의 기능 이용 과정에서 위험을 높게 인식하는 것이라 할 수 있다. The purpose of this paper was to examine gender differences shown in the utilization of mobile contents and to investigate the recognized risks by users while using mobile phone content services and the mobile phone addiction. Mobile users (university students in Busan) were selected as sample. Major findings were as follows. First, there were some difference between male users and female users in utilizing various mobile phone contents. In some contents, female users were found to use more often than male users. And female users were found to have a higher level in the recognized risks while using mobile phone contents. Second, users showed more active in utilizing simple mobile phone contents, and addiction tendency was found those who heavily used simple mobile phone contents. Third, those who have a high level of recognized risks are likely to show addiction tendency. These findings can be used for development of the study on mobile phone users.

        중학생의 또래애착이 휴대전화 의존에 미치는 영향 :

        초기 청소년의 휴대전화 의존이 점점 심각해지는 것으로 알려져 있다. 선행연구 고찰 결과에 의하면, 중학생의 낮은 또래애착이 우울을 야기하고 결국에는 휴대전화 의존으로 이어질 개연성이 높다. 본 연구의 목적은 중학생이 지각하는 또래애착(의사소통, 신뢰, 소외)이 휴대전화 의존에 미치는 영향을 검증하며, 특히 이 두 변수 사이에서 우울이 유의한 매개변수로 기능하는 지 확인함으로써 청소년의 휴대전화 의존 문제에 효과적으로 개입하기 위한 이론적ㆍ실천적 함의를 도출하는 데 있다. 먼저 이론적 검토 및 선행연구 고찰을 통해 중학생의 휴대전화 의존을 설명하는 연구모형을 구축하였으며, 한국청소년정책연구원의 ‘한국아동청소년 패널조사 2010’ 가운데 중1 패널의 제3차년도 자료를 사용하여 구조방정식모형 분석 등의 방법으로 이연구모형을 검증하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중학생이 지각하는 또래 의사소통은 우울은 낮추는 반면 또래 소외는 우울을 높인다. 둘째, 중학생이 지각하는 또래 의사소통과 또래 신뢰는 휴대전화 의존을 낮추는 반면 또래 소외는 휴대전화 의존을 높인다. 셋째, 우울은 또래 의사소통과 휴대전화 의존 사이에서, 그리고 또래 소외와 휴대전화 의존 사이에서 각각 유의한 매개변수로 기능하고 있다. 끝으로, 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 연구의 함의와 제한점을 논의하였다. Mobile phone addiction is becoming a common problem among early adolescents. According to the results of literature review, it is possible that middle school students with difficulties in relating to peers are at greater risk for developing symptoms of depression and show later mobile phone addiction. The purpose of the present study is to examine the causal relationship between peer attachment and mobile phone addiction among middle school students and to test the mediating effect of depression. The present study analyzed the third wave data from Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2010 (KCYPS 2010). A proposed structural model to middle school students’mobile phone addiction had been identified. The results of the present study are as follows. First, communication could have a negative effect on depression and alienation could have a positive effect on depression. Second, communication and trust could have a negative effect on mobile phone addiction respectively and alienation could have a positive effect on mobile phone addiction. Third, depression could be a significant mediating variable between communication and mobile phone addiction and at the same time between alienation and mobile phone addiction. Finally, Implications and limitations are also discussed.

        대학생의 개인특성과 인터넷 및 휴대전화 중독과의 관계 연구

        본 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 인터넷과 휴대전화의 중독 수준을 동시에 파악하는 연구이다. 이 연구를 통해 연구대상의 개인특성과 인터넷 및 휴대전화 이용특성에 따른 인터넷 및 휴대전화 중독 수준의 차이와 인터넷 및 휴대전화 중독 수준에 미치는 상대적 영향력에 대해 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 제주지역의 대학생 385명(남: 186명, 여: 199명)이었으며, 자료는 SPSS Win 12.0 프로그램을 통해 기술통계분석, 요인분석, 신뢰도분석, t-test, 중다회귀분석 등을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과를 제시하면, 첫째, 인터넷은 남학생의 중독 수준이, 휴대전화는 여학생의 중독 수준이 상대적으로 높았다. 둘째, 집중력이 낮은 집단과 충동성이 높은 집단에서 인터넷과 휴대전화 중독 수준이 높았으며, 자기효능감이 낮은 집단이 인터넷 중독 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 인터넷 중독에는 하루 평균 이용시간이, 휴대전화 중독에는 충동성이 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구에서 고려해야 할 점들을 제시하였다. The present study investigates the levels of internet and mobile phone addiction in college students. This study followed a two-fold approach: Firstly it examined the different levels of addiction to the Internet and mobile phone depending on personal characteristics and how the Internet and mobile phone are used. Secondly, the paper examined how different levels of addiction can be attributed to personal characteristics and how Internet and mobile phone use has an influence on this kind of addiction. A total of 385 subjects from Jeju took part in this study. The data was analyzed through SPSS Win 12.0 for descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, and multiple regression analysis. This study revealed the following. First, male students have a high rate of addiction to the Internet, while their female counterparts have a higher rate of addiction when it came to mobile phone use. Second, the group lower levels of concentration and higher levels of spontaneity exhibited the higher addiction rates in the use of the Internet and mobile phones. In addition, the group with the lower rates of self-efficacy was higher in terms of Internet addiction. Third, the length of time plays a key role in explaining the level of Internet addiction and spontaneity has a strong influence in mobile phone addiction. Finally, the implications of this study for the future research are also discussed.
