히비스커스 분말을 첨가한 양갱의 품질 특성

        박미혜,이선미 (사)한국조리학회 2019 한국조리학회지 Vol.25 No.10

This study was carried out to investigate the quality characteristics and antioxidant activities of yanggaeng added with Hibiscus sabdariffa L. powder. Yanggaeng was prepared with agar, sugar, salt, white kidney bean paste and different amounts (as the ratios of 0, 1, 2, 3 and 5%) of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. powder. As the contents of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. powder increased, the moisture content of yanggaeng was significantly decreased. In addition, the sugar contents and pH levels of yanggaeng were significantly decreased with the addition of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. powder levels. For color values, the L-value (lightness) increased, whereas the a-value (redness) and b-value (yellowness) decreased as the Hibiscus sabdariffa L. levels increased (p<0.05). DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity increased as the amount of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. powder increased (p<0.05). In a texture profile analysis, the hardness of the control groups was lower than the Hibiscus sabdariffa L. powder groups. In the sensory evaluation, chewiness was not different among samples, but the preference for the mouth feel was increased in the Hibiscus sabdariffa L. powder groups. Therefore, Hibiscus sabdariffa L. powder can be incorporated into yanggaeng to decrease the hardness, to improve the mouth feel and to improve the antioxidant potential.

        ( M. Uddin Nizam ),( M. Wahid U Zzaman ),( M. Mokhlesur Rahman ),( Jang Eok Kim ) 한국환경농학회 2016 한국환경농학회지 Vol.35 No.2

BACKGROUND: Arsenic (As)-contaminated groundwater used for long-term irrigation has emerged as a serious problem by adding As to soils. Phytoremediation potential of fiber crops viz., kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.), mesta (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.), and jute (Corchorus capsularis L.) was studied to clean up As-contaminated soil. METHODS AND RESULTS: Varieties of three fiber crops were selected in this study. Seeds of kenaf, mesta, and jute varieties were germinated in As-contaminated soil. Uptake of As by shoot was significantly higher than that by root in the contaminated soil. In As-contaminated soil, kenaf and mesta varieties accumulated more As, than did jute varieties. In the plant parts above ground, mainly the shoots, the highest As absorption was recorded in kenaf cv. HC-3, followed by kenaf cv. HC-95. Kenaf varieties produced more biomass. In terms of higher plant biomass production, and As absorption, kenaf varieties showed considerable potential to remediate As-contaminated soil. CONCLUSION: The overall As absorption and phytoremediation potentiality of plant varieties were in the order of kenaf cv. HC-3 > kenaf cv. HC-95 > mesta cv. Samu-93 > jute cv. CVE-3 > jute cv. BJC-7370. All varieties of kenaf, mesta, and jute could be considered for an appropriate green plant-based remediation technology in As-contaminated soil.

정해수 ( Haesoo Jung ),김은미 ( Eunmi Kim ),한효상 ( Hyosang Han ),김기광 ( Keekwang Kim ) 대한본초학회 2021 大韓本草學會誌 Vol.36 No.5

Objectives : Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) is rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids and anthocyanins and is known to have anti-inflammatory activity and anti-aging function of the skin, but there is no study on its effect on the skin barrier. This study aim to investigate the positive effect on the skin barrier by confirming the effect of water extracts of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (WEHS) on the tight junction-related gene expression. Methods : The antioxidant efficacy of WEHS was investigated through ABTS and DPPH assays, and 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium was performed to examine the effect on cell viability. quantitative Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunoblot analysis were performed to confirm the effect of WEHS on the expression of tight junction-related genes, and immunofluorescence microscopy was used to confirm the movement of Claudin 1 protein into tight junctions. Results : WEHS showed strong antioxidant activity and induced an increase in both mRNA and protein expression levels of Claudin 1 among tight junction-related genes. The strong localization of Claudine 1 protein increased by WEHS to the tight junction was confirmed by immunofluorescence microscopy. Conclusions : Hibiscus was confirmed through this study to show antioxidant activity and the function of promoting the expression of the tight junction Claudin 1 gene, suggesting that Hibiscus can be used as a material for the prevention and treatment of skin moisturizing and atopy, which have an important influence on tight junction.

        ( Naglaa Hassan ),( Masafumi Shimizu ),( Mitsuro Hyakumachi ) 한국균학회 2014 Mycobiology Vol.42 No.1

Roselle(Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) family Malvaceae is an important crop used in food, cosmetics and pharmaceutics industries. Roselle is cultivated mainly in Upper Egypt(Qena and Aswan governorates) producing 94% of total production. Root rot disease of roselle is one of the most important diseases that attack both seedlings and adult plants causing serious losses incrop productivity and quality. The main objective of the present study is to identify and characterize pathogens associated withroot rot and wilt symptoms of roselle in Qena, Upper Egypt and evaluate their pathogenicity under greenhouse and field condition. Fusarium oxysporum, Macrophomina phaseolina, Fusarium solani, Fusarium equiseti and Fusarium semitectum were isolated from the natural root rot diseases in roselle. All isolated fungi were morphologically characterized and varied in their pathogenic potentialities. They could attack roselle plants causing damping-off and root rot/wilt diseases in different pathogenicitytests. The highest pathogenicity was caused by F. oxysporum and M. phaseolina followed by F. solani. The least pathogenic fungi were F. equiseti followed by F. semitectum. It obviously noted that Baladi roselle cultivar was more susceptible to infection with alltested fungi than Sobhia 17 under greenhouse and field conditions. This is the first report of fungal pathogens causing root rot and vascular wilt in roselle in Upper Egypt

Utilization of by-products of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. as alternative sources for the extraction of high-quality pectin

        R. M. Esparza-Merino,M. E. Macı´as-Rodrı´guez,E. Cabrera-Dı´az,A. J. Valencia-Botı´n,Y. Estrada-Giro´n 한국식품과학회 2019 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.28 No.4

The by-products of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (HsL), obtained after soaking or decoction of the calyces ofColima and Sudan cultivars, were used for pectin extraction. After soaking, the wastes of both cultivars gave higheryields of pectin than those obtained by decoction. Thepectin of the wastes by soaking presented high methoxylgroups, galacturonic acid content, viscosity and gellingcapacity. Pectin of this treatment also exhibited bands inthe regions of 1750 cm-1 and 1630 cm-1 that representsthe C=O stretching vibrations of methyl ester and theamounts and degree of esterification of the HsL pectin. Interestingly, the pectin retained the typical red color offresh HsL calyces. The amounts of anthocyanins andascorbic acid of pectin did not show effects againstpathogenic microorganisms. Nonetheless, pectin of theSudan HsL wastes obtained by soaking, exhibited higherproperties than those of the citric pectin, thus, demonstratingits potential for industrial applications.

Hibiscus sabdariffa L.: phytoconstituents, nutritive, and pharmacological applications

        Mohamed A. Salem,Ahmed Zayed,Magy E. Beshay,Mesih Mirna M. Abdel,Khayal Reem F. Ben,Fady A. George,Shahira M. Ezzat 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2022 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.22 No.3

Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (HS) calyx extracts have been well-documented for the treatment of hypertension, liver dysfunctions, and diabetes among others. An updated concise review of HS regarding phytoconstituents, and involved putative mechanisms of potential biological activities is presented. HS showed other food and other industrial applications, including the preparation of metallic nanoparticles. These activities were explained by the presence of a broad spectrum of valuable phytochemicals, including the red pigments anthocyanins, phenolic, and organic acids and polyphenolics (e.g., flavonoids and tannins). Most of the bioactivities were found to be associated with anthocyanins-rich extracts. Anthocyanins were found to have various mechanisms for the treatment of hypertension, including direct vasodilation and inhibition of angiotensinconverting enzyme (ACE). However, leaves and seeds showed also other potential applications in food industry, owing to the significant amounts of phenolic antioxidant compounds. Therefore, valorization and optimization of bioactive constituents’ extraction from plant biowastes should be considered for maximizing the benefits of HS extracts.

      • Ethyl acetate fraction from <i>Hibiscus sabdariffa</i> L. attenuates diabetes-associated cognitive impairment in mice

        Seung, Tae Wan,Park, Seon Kyeong,Kang, Jin Yong,Kim, Jong Min,Park, Sang Hyun,Kwon, Bong Seok,Lee, Chang Jun,Kang, Jeong Eun,Kim, Dae Ok,Lee, Uk,Heo, Ho Jin Elsevier 2018 Food Research International Vol.105 No.-

<P>The ameliorating effects of the ethyl acetate fraction from Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (EFHS)(2) against diabetes mellitus (DM)(3) and DM-induced cognitive impairment were investigated on streptozotocin (STZ)(4)-induced DM mice. The EFHS groups showed improved hyperglycemia and glucose tolerance compared to the STZ group. Furthermore, their liver and kidney function and lipid metabolic imbalance in the blood serum were effectively recovered. The EFHS groups significantly ameliorated STZ-induced cognitive impairment in Y-maze, passive avoidance, and Morris water maze (MWM)(6) tests. The EFHS groups showed significant improvement in the antioxidant and cholinergic systems of the brain tissue. In addition, EFHS had an excellent ameliorating effect on protein expression levels from the tau hyperphosphorylation pathways, such as phospho-c-Jun N-terminal kinases (p-JNK),(6) phospho-tau (p-tau),(7) and cleaved poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (c-PARP).(8) The main compounds of EFHS were identified as various phenolic compounds, including hibiscus acid, caffeoylquinic acid (CQA)(9) isomers, and quercetin derivates. Therefore, EFHS containing various physiologically active materials can potentially be used for improving DM-induced cognitive impairment via its antioxidant activity, improvement of the cholinergic system, and hyperphosphorylation tau signaling.</P>
