        The Relationship between Music Learning Motivations, Intentions to Pursue a Career in Music, and Career Choices of College Music Majors in Korea

        The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between music learning motivations, intentions to pursue a career in music, and career choices among college music majors in Korea. Results from a survey of 152 music majors from two universities in Seoul showed that their music learning motivation was primarily autonomous and not controlled. High intentions to pursue a career in music were expressed, with the most preferred career being that of a college lecturer/studio instructor, followed by a performer, and the least preferred being that of a music teacher. The only motivation that had a positive impact on pursuing a career in music and choosing a performer or college lecturer/studio instructor as a future career was identified motivation. However, introjected motivation had a negative impact. Intrinsic and external motivations had no effect on music career intentions or choices. The findings demonstrate that each orientation of music learning motivation has a unique effect on the intentions to pursue a career in music and career choices. The results also highlight the need for further investigation into why music learning motivation has no relation to music college students' career choice as a music teacher.

        유아교육과 학생의 전공선택동기와 직업선택요인 관계에서 전공만족도의 매개효과

        The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of majors' satisfaction on the influence of majors of majors in early childhood education on career choice factors. A questionnaire survey was conducted for male and female college students attending the University Early Childhood Education Department in Busan, and analyzed 196 copies. The main results of this study are as follows. First, intrinsic majors' motivation influenced majors' satisfaction, but motivation to select majors did not affect majors' satisfaction. Second, the intrinsic motivation for selecting majors influenced the interest aptitude, job economics, and job prospects among the sub factors of career choice, and external motivation to select majors influenced all of the sub - factors of career choice: interest aptitude, major consensus, job economy, and career prospects. Third, major satisfaction had a significant effect on all sub - factors of career choice. Fourth, the mediating effects of major majors were found in relation to intrinsic majors selection motivation, interest aptitude, major consensus, and career prospects. However, it did not appear in the relationship between selection motivation and career choice factors. In the discussion of the research results, the method of intervention in career choice was presented through early childhood education students 'motivation for choosing majors and majors' satisfaction. 본 연구의 목적은 유아교육과 학생의 전공선택동기가 직업선택요인에 미치는 영향에서 전공만족도의 매개효과를 검증하기 위한 것이다. 부산시에 소재하고 있는 대학교 유아교육과에 재학 중인 남․여 대학생을 대상으로 설문조사한 후 196부를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 주요 결과로는 첫째, 내재적 전공선택동기는 전공만족도에 영향을 미쳤지만 외재적 전공선택동기는 전공만족도에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 내재적 전공선택동기는 직업선택의 하위요인 중 흥미적성, 직업경제성, 직업장래성에 영향을 미쳤으며, 외재적 전공선택동기는 직업선택의 모든 하위요인 즉, 흥미적성, 전공일치성, 직업경제성과 직업장래성에 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 전공만족도는 직업선택의 모든 하위요인에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 넷째, 전공만족도의 매개효과는 내재적 전공선택동기와 흥미적성, 전공일치성, 직업장래성과의 관계에서 나타났으며, 외재적 전공선택동기와 직업선택요인 관계에서는 나타나지 않았다. 연구결과에 대한 논의에서 유아교육과 학생의 전공선택동기 및 전공만족도를 통해 직업선택에서의 개입방법을 제시하였다.

        내재적, 외재적 진로선택동기가 진로태도성숙에 미치는 영향 - 자아탄력성의 매개효과에 관한 연구

        Universities are making great efforts to find directions for career education. The purpose of this study is to find out factors that influence the career maturity of college students in order to find ways to help college students to prepare for their career. In this study, we investigated the effects of career choice motivation on career maturity by dividing career choice motivation by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. In addition, mediating effects of ego - resilience were confirmed. The research data were analyzed using 157 data collected from freshmen at University in Seoul. And to identify the relationship between them by internal and external factors. In addition, mediating effects of ego - resilience were confirmed. In the analysis, the internal consistency of the items of the measurement tools for measuring each variable was determined, and the correlation between the variables was analyzed by Pearson 's correlation analysis. Additionally, major regression analysis was conducted to verify the mediating effect. As a result of the analysis, it was verified that ego - resilience has a partial mediating effect when intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation respectively influence career attitude maturity. It is found that it may be desirable to seek ways to strengthen career choice motivation and ego - resilience when designing career education programs at universities. 대학들은 진로교육의 방향모색을 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 본 연구는 대학생들의 진로에 대한 준비를 위해 대학에서 도움을 줄 수 있는 방법을 모색하기 위해 진로태도성숙에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 찾아내고자 하였다. 진로선택동기는 진로를 준비하는데 영향이 있다고 알려져있는 대표적인 요인이기 때문에, 본 연구에서는 진로선택동기를 내재적, 외재적 요인별로 구분하여 진로태도성숙에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 하였다. 이때, 추가적으로 자아탄력성의 매개효과를 확인하였다. 연구자료는 서울소재 대학의 신입생들을 대상으로 수집된 157개의 자료를 활용하여 분석되었다. 분석은 각 변수들을 측정하기 위한 측정도구들의 문항내적합치도를 파악하고, 변인들 간의 관련성은 Pearson의 적률상관분석을 실시하였다. 추가적으로 매개효과 검증에는 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 내재적 동기와 외재적 동기 각각이 진로태도성숙에 영향을 미칠 때 자아탄력성이 부분매개효과를 보인다는 것을 검증하게 되었다. 이를 통해 각 대학에서의 진로교육프로그램을 설계할 때 진로선택동기와 자아탄력성을 강화시킬 수 있는 방법을 모색하는 것이 바람직할 수 있음을 파악하였다.

To this end, a survey was conducted for college students majoring in music across the country, and path analysis was conducted on the collected data using SPSS 26.0 and Amos 23.0 programs. As a result of the analysis, it was found that intrinsic motivation and major satisfaction, which are sub-factors of major selection motivation, affect career choice commitment. Specifically, it was confirmed that the higher the intrinsic motivation and major satisfaction, the higher the commitment to career choice. We hoped that this study will help music major students understand the importance of their major and help develop an educational curriculum that can increase major satisfaction.         한의과대학 예과생의 진로관련 특성에 관한 연구

        Objectives : This study was aimed at exploring career-related characteristics of premedical students in Korean Medicine college and those relationships with career development readiness and vocational value. Methods : A total of 140 premedical students participated in the survey. The questionnaire consisted of demographic characteristics and career-related characteristics such as motive for career choice, specialty preference after college graduation, and school life adaptation. Also they responded in the web-survey of career development readiness inventory and vocational value inventory developed by Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training. Eight items of motive for career choice were collected from the pilot study from 70 premedical students. Results : 'Job stability' was the top motive for career choice(25.5%). The average college life adaptation score was relatively low(13.7) : higher in male(14.3) and the early career decision group(14.2) than female (12.9) and late decision group(12.9), which was statistically significant(p=0.019 and p=0.036, respectively) in the subgroup analyses. The result of career development readiness inventory showed that 'self-knowledge' (79.3) and 'confidence on career decision' (78.6) were the two highest, which is similar to the result of the vocational value inventory ('fulfilling abilities' and 'self-improvement'). More characteristics were also described. Conclusions : The results showed that Korean Medicine premedical students have high vocational identity. This study suggested that more specified studies for identifying career-related characteristics for Korean Medical students should be conducted in order to design systematic and professional medical education programs.

        Relationship between dentists’ career choice motivation and job satisfaction in Gwangju

        The aims of this study were to investigate dentists’ career-choice motivation and job satisfaction, and to find the relationships between dentist’s career-choice motivation and job satisfaction in Gwangju. The survey was performed by visiting 100 dental hospitals and clinics in Gwangju. Data were obtained from 144 dentists; 10 were excluded because they didn’t respond. The survey consists of 17 items about career choice and 29 about job satisfaction (Korean Dentist satisfaction survey. KDSS). Data were analyzed by SPSS 19.0. The three highest aspects among the 17 items about career-choice motivation were high professional status (85.7%), providing a secure career (65.4%), and opportunity to care for/help people (48.1%). On the other hand, the lowest aspect was science-based occupation (4.5%). Multiple regression analysis identified a model including perception of income, delivery of care. and professional time that accounted for 26.2% of the variation in overall job satisfaction. This study suggests that dentists who choose an opportunity to care for/help people and to have a secure career score high in overall job satisfaction. The findings of this study will be helpful to increase job satisfaction among Korean dentists.

        의과대학과 의학전문대학원 학생들의 진로선택동기 및 도덕판단력 비교

        Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the differences in career choice motives and moral reasoning ability between students in baccalaureate and graduate-entry medical programs. Methods: Forty-five students from a baccalaureate program and thirty-eight students from a graduate-entry program participated in this study. The students were required to fill out both the Career Choice Motivation Inventory and Defining Issues Test(DIT). The Career Choice Motivation Inventory is a 20-item questionnaire, which investigates five dimensions: effect of others, job security, interest in science, service and working with people, and working condition. Independent t-test was performed to compare the two groups. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to investigate the relationship among variables. Results: There were significant differences in career choice motivations between the two groups. Students in the graduate-entry program were more likely to be motivated by scientific interest and opportunities to care for people. Status and job security were stronger factors in the baccalaureate students. For the students in this program, there were positive associations among their motives- interest in medical science, serving people, and working condition. There was no significant difference in moral reasoning ability between the two groups. Conclusion: Students in the graduate-entry medical program seem to have more professional and altruistic motivations for entering medicine. Although there is nostatistical significance, graduate students have numerically higher moral reasoning abilities compared to their counterparts. These results validate that a graduate-entry program provides an important alternative for student selection.

        유치원교사의 교직 인식과 직무만족도에 영향을 주는 변인

        The purpose of this study is to examine the perception of teaching profession and factors influencing occupational satisfaction among preschool teachers. A total of 180 preschool teachers living in the Seoul-Incheon area completed an open-ended and structured questionnaire developed by the present author(2009). The perception of teaching profession was composed of 'career-choice motivation', 'the most important thing in nursery education' and 'the most rewarding thing in teaching'. To examine occupational satisfaction, t-test, correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted. The results were as follows. First, as for the career-choice motivation as perceived by preschool teachers, the most frequent response was 'liking children', followed by 'wanting to be a teacher'. Second, as for the most important thing in nursery education, teachers under 5 years of career listed 'attention and love for preschoolers', followed by 'upright nature education' and 'faithful basic education'. Teachers over 5 years of career listed 'upright nature education', followed by 'attention and love for preschoolers' and 'quality of teachers'. Third, the most rewarding thing in teaching was 'children's change'. Fourth, teachers over 5 years of career and teachers who have higher level of education were more likely to satisfy educational environment. Fifth, educational environment satisfaction had a positive influence on level of education, the number of class, career experience and salary, but had a negative influence on facilities' type and working hours. Sixth, factors influencing occupational satisfaction were 'working hours' and 'position'. 연구의 주된 목적은 유치원교사의 교직에 대한 인식을 질적 분석으로 확인하고, 직무만족도에 영향을 주는 변인을 탐색하는데 있다. 분석대상은 경인지역의 유치원 교사 180명을 대상으로 하였다. 측정도구는 자유반응형 3문항과 직무만족도관련 16문항을 연구자(2009)가 직접 제작하였다. 연구내용은 교직인식으로 교직선택동기, 유아교육에서 가장 중요한 것, 교사로서의 보람으로 구성되었고, Likert 5점 척도의 직무만족도는 직업만족과 교육환경만족을 하위변인으로 타당도와 신뢰도 검증 후 관련 변인별 차이검증, 상관분석 및 회귀분석을 하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유치원 교사의 직업 선택 동기로는 ‘아이들이 좋아서’와 ‘교사가 되고 싶어서’ 가 가장 많은 반응을 보였다. 둘째, 유아교육에서 가장 중요한 것은 5년 미만의 교사는 ‘유아에 대한 관심과 사랑’, ‘올바른 인성교육’, ‘기초교육에 충실’로 응답한 반면 5년 이상의 경력이 있는 교사는 ‘올바른 인성교육’, ‘유아에 대한 관심과 사랑’, ‘교사의 자질’의 순으로 응답해 경력별로 다른 반응을 보였다. 셋째, 교사로서의 보람에 대한 응답은 ‘아이들의 변화’가 과반수를 넘게 반응하였다. 넷째, 근무경력별 차이에서는 5년 이상의 교사들의 교육환경에 만족도가 높았고, 학력이 높을수록 교육환경에 대한 만족도가 높았다. 다섯째, 교육환경 만족도와 학력, 학급수, 근무경력, 월급은 정적인 관계가 있었으나, 시설유형, 근무시간과는 부적인 상관을 보였다. 여섯째, 직무만족도에 영향을 주는 변인은 직업만족에서는 직위, 교육환경만족에서는 근무시간, 월급, 학급수였으며, 직무만족도 전체에 영향을 주는 변인은 근무시간과 직위로 나타났다.

        예비과학교사들의 교사가 되고자 하는 동기와 교사상에 나타나는 특성

        본 연구에서는 예비과학교사들을 대상으로 하여 이들이 과학교사가 되고자 하는 동기는 무엇이며, 이러 한 동기는 성장과정에서 어떻게 형성되었는지, 그리고 이들이 가지는 미래 자신에 대한 과학교사상에는 어떤 특성이 나타나는지 알아보았다. 이들의 과학교사가 되고자 하는 동기와 동기 형성과정은 경험에 기반을 두어 형성된 것이기 때문에 개인적인 측면이 많았지만, 다음과 같은 공통적인 특성을 보였다. 첫째 예비과학교사들의 성장과정을 살펴보았을 때, 교육에 대한 흥미와 과학에 대한 흥미는 서로 별개로 존재하다가 나중에 과학교사에 대한 흥미로 두 관심이 모아 졌으며, 과학교사가 자신의 흥미와 적성이 꼭 맞음을 발견했을 때, 그들은 과학교사에 대한 자신의 내적 동기를 발전시킬 수 있었다. 둘째, 중·고등학교에서의 보조교사 경험, 수업관찰, 초등학생 대상 과학교육 프로젝트의 참여, 과학 캠프 교사 등 교육현장을 직접 보고, 가르쳐본 경험이 자신의 적성을 확인하는 중요한 계기가 되었다. 셋째, 교육에 대한 적성을 확인할 수 있는 기회는 사적인 것보다는 공적인 기회가 많았으며, 이러한 기회들은 자신의 미래 교사상을 형성하고 교사로서의 준비를 하는데 있어 생생한 경험이 되었고, 과학교사가 되고자 하는 내적 동기를 강화시켜, 자신의 진로를 주도적으로 선택하는데 있어 기반이 되었다. 넷째, 미래 자신에 대한 과학교사상에는 일반적인 교사로서의 이미지가 더 큰 사람이 있는 반면, 과학을 가르치는데 대한 이미지가 더 큰 사람이 있었다. 이와 같은 교사상은 자신의 교사가 되고자 하는 동기 및 동기 형성과정과 긴밀하게 연관되어 있었다. This study investigated pre-service science teachers` motivation for career choice and their self-image as a science teacher. Although their motivations for becoming science teachers were very personal, three major characteristics emerged. First, during the process of their growth, their interest in education and science existed separately, and later the two interest were naturally focused on the job of a science teacher. When they find out that teaching science is right for them, they developed their inner motivation. Second, teaching opportunities to teach science subjects, including classroom observations, TA, tutor, and teacher-aid, played an essential role for them in finding their aptitude for science teaching. Third, their teaching-related experiences were very effective in building up their self-image as a science teacher and in preparing for the job. It also reinforced their inner motivation, which was important in finding their direction in life as a science teacher. Fourth, there were two categories for the self-image as a science teacher. One was teaching-oriented and the other was science subject-oriented. These images for the science teacher were closely connected with their inner motivation for science teaching.

        대학생의 진로결정몰입과 전공만족의 관계에서 개인작인신념의 효과

        본 연구는 대학생의 전공만족과 진로결정몰입에 있어 개인작인신념이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 검증하고자 하였다. 연구를 수행하기 위해 서울, 경기·인천, 강원, 충청, 경상 지역에 소재한 4년제 국‧공립 대학교 재학생 총 626명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 자료처리는 SPSSWIN19.0 프로그램을 이용하여 빈도분석, 신뢰도측정, 일원배치분산분석, 상관분 석, 선형회귀분석, 조절적 중다회귀분석, 매개회귀분석 등을 실시하였다. 분석결과 전공에 대한 만족 수준이 높을수록 진로결정몰입 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났으며 전공만족도와 진로결정몰입의 관계에 있어 개인작인신념이 부분매개 또는 완전매개를 하는 것으로 나타났다. The aim of this study was to identify a variables that can affect Commitment to a Career Choice focusing mainly on the satisfaction with one's major in college and personal agency beliefs. This research carried out a survey on a total of 626 students at 4-year public and private university. The information is processed using the SPSSWIN19.0 program, which carried out frequency analysis, reliability measurement, one-way ANOVA, linear regression analysis, multiple moderating regression analysis, and three-step mediate regression analysis. The results of this study showed that groups showing greater satisfaction with their major had a higher level of commitment to a career choice. Personal beliefs was one thing that can achieve partial mediation or complete mediation when it comes to the relationship between the satisfaction of their major and commitment to a career choice.
