        「민옹전」의 쟁장설화(爭長說話) 수용 양상과 변용 의미

        This study focused on the meanings of competition tales transformed from Minongjeon . To study the meanings, this paper checked Yeonam Park Ji-won, the author of Minongjeon , and the phases of the times when Minongjeon was created. Also, it studied the transformation aspects by comparing with basic competitive tales. To cure depression, Yeonam enjoyed listening to the stories told by commoner story-teller, and he finally met Minong, the main character of Minongjeon . Yeonam was talented in switching the stories that he listened into his new literary works. Based on this situation, Minongjeon was created and competition tales were transformed and adapted in Minongjeon . In basic competitive tales, three animals in total appear and the tales deal with age competition as the creation of the world. The winner is always a toad, and the basic competitive tales are similar in structures and contents. The basic structure adapted from the competitive tales is similar with the basic competitive tales. However, Minongjeon deals with the age competition content as Chinese mythical characters and history. There are four meanings of this adaptation and transformation. The first meaning is satire on sense of value of Neo-Confucianism. Yeonam Park Ji-won satirized the elders first value and the world of ignoring Muban(the military nobility). Second, it created a new type of tales. By adapting Chinese mythical characters and history instead of the creation of the world, the author created a new type of competitive tales. Third, it reflected the thought of Realist School of Confucianism. The author drew the creation of the world, the area of God, into the beginning of Fire, hunting,and farming, the area of human. Forth, it criticized privileges of the ruling class. The author set the number of the characters as three rather than two; Minongjeon uses figurative expressions as a toad, a commoner and a rabbit, a noble man. By using sharp contrast, it also clearly criticized and satirized Yangban, Neo-Confucian scholars.
