나날이 발전하는 독서 교육 이론과 새롭게 소개되는 독서 교수학습 모형과 평가 방법, 그리고 독서를 강조하는 학교와 전 사회적 분위기에도 불구하고 학생들은 책을 잘 읽고 있지 않는 것이 사실이다. 연구자는 그 이유가 입시 제도 등의 제도적?문화적 문제와 함께, 기능과 전략 중심의 문제풀이식 미시적 독서 지도 방법에 있다고 보았다. 이러한 미시적 독서 지도는 독서를 통한 즐겁고 깊은 감동의 경험, 관계맺음의 경험을 강조하는 거시적 독서를 외면하게 한다. 연구자는 이러한 독서 교육의 문제점을 개선하기 위한 하나의 방법을 렉티오 디비나(lectio divina)라는 고전(古傳) 독서 전통에서 찾아보고자 하였다. 과거 수도원 전통에서부터 전해온 렉티오 디비나는 다독(多讀)을 강조 하지는 않는다. 오히려 한 권, 한 구절을 읽더라도 충분한 묵상과 반추를 통해 앎과 삶을 내면화하여 통합하고 독자와 텍스트, 독자와 세계가 관계맺는 작용을 중시하고 있다. 이러한 점을 바탕으로 하여, (1)느리게 읽기의 가치 (2)깊게 읽기의 가치 (3)협동적 읽기의 가치 (4)인성 교육적 가치 등으로 렉티오 디비나의 읽기 교육적 가치를 재조명해 보았다. It’s true that many students don’t have been interested in reading although the improving theories about reading education, newly introduced teaching-learning model and assessment method, and the social atmosphere where reading is stressed. I consider that the reasons why they don’t have read books are institutional and cultural problem, such as entrance examination system, and the method of question solving-centered microscopic reading instruction based on skills and strategies. This instruction makes students turn away from macroscopic reading that emphasizes the experience of enjoyable and great emotion and that of building a relationship. I try to find out a way to improve the problem of this reading education from an age-old reading tradition, Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina that has descended from monastic tradition emphasizes the behaviour building the relationship among the reader, text, and the world as integrating to internalize knowledge and life through meditation and rumination rather than the extensive reading, even if people read only a phrase, or a book. Based on the aforementioned statements, I spark renewed discussion about the value of reading education of Lectio Divina. In brief, This is as follows; ① the value of slow reading, ② the value of intensive reading, ③ the value of cooperative reading, ④ the value of character education.

고전 독서법에서의 ‘단락(段落)’의 개념과 현대 독서법에의 적용

현대 독서법에서 사용하고 있는 단락은 영어 paragraph의 번역어로 문장론에서 발생한 것이다. 이 개념은 단락을 중심 문장과 뒷받침 문장으로 구성된 구조물로 바라본다. 하지만 고전 독서법에서 단락은 독서 개념이었으며, 각각의 의미를 지닌 글자와 구의 집합체로 인식하였다. 고전 독서법에서 독서란 텍스트의 의미를 정밀하게 파악하는 것이었다. 이러한 개념은 주희가 오경 중심의 유학을 사서 중심의 유학으로 바꾸면서 본격적으로 인식되었다. 이를 위해『대학』과 『중용』을 제대로 읽기 위한 방안으로 텍스트를 의미 단위별로 나누어서 읽기 시작하면서 단락 개념이 주목받기 시작하였다. 주희는 텍스트의 의미를 파악하기 위해 텍스트 전체가 아닌 하나의 단락을 대상으로 반복, 숙독과 정독, 암송 및 느리게 읽기를 강조하였다. 그리고 단락을 제대로 이해하기 위해서는 ‘봉하처’라고 부르는 텍스트의 틈새를 통해 그 단락의 의미 속으로 파고 들어가야 한다고 했다. 즉, 봉하처를 찾는 것이 그 단락, 나아가 그 텍스트의 의미를 제대로 이해하는 것으로 본 것이다. 이러한 개념은 현대의 독서 교육이 놓치고 있는 부분을 대체 혹은 보완할 수 있는 유용한 수단이 될 수 있을 것이다. The paragraph used in modern reading are derived from the syntax of the English paragraph. This concept recognizes a paragraph as a structure consisting of a topic sentence and a supporting sentence. In classical reading, however, paragraphs were a reading concept and were recognized as a collection of letters and phrases with their own meanings. In classical reading, reading was a precise grasp of the meaning of the text. This concept was recognized in earnest as Zhu Xi changed his study of the Five Classics(五經;Wujīng) into the Four Books (四書;Sìshu) study. For this, the concept of paragraph began to attract attention as texts were divided into semantic units and read as a way to properly read "The Great Learning" and "The Doctrine of the Mean modern". In order to understand the meaning of the text, Zhu Xi emphasized repetition, perusal, recitation and slow reading on a single paragraph rather than the entire text. And in order to understand the paragraph properly, he had to dig into the meaning of the paragraph through a gap in the text called ‘sewing crevice’. In other words, finding a place to look at is to understand the meaning of the paragraph and even the text.
