This paper is aimed at critically examining the academic-writing-centered education in university writing education and typicality education, and considering the direct of university writing education in knowledge-based society. This paper`s review and proposal are organized as three matters as follows: First, it`s necessary to be agonized about a new writing method needed for knowledge-based society aiming for knowledge convergence. Up to the present, university writing has aimed for academic writing, and specially, departmental writing education. However, we have to examine whether such a stereotyped communication method is really valid in the era of the interdisciplinary study which integrates and converges the departmentalscience- centered research results, and also give in-depth thoughts on the communication method that contributes to a new method of research. Second, it`s necessary look upon the dichotomous thinking in relation to typicality as an issue of degrees. In other words, it`s necessary to switch our existing viewpoint to the one by thinking of writing (a genre used as a simple communicative tool, and a genre as a medium of individual; creative thinking) as an issue of degrees. In addition, it`s also necessary to change our standpoint that typicality of a genre is not the object of evasion but the object of dissolution and convergence, or the basis of emergent writing. Third, university writing is required to accept both the writing that saves me and the writing that communicate with the world. The writing of such a type is expected to contribute to changing one`s negative experience in writing, and further students may deeply feel that writing is helpful in caring for their own life after graduation.
대학 글쓰기에서의 첨삭 프로그램 현황과 개선 방안 -한성대학교를 중심으로-

The aim of this study is to introduce an online program construction for writing correction, developmental process thereof, and devising a `standard for correction.` Problems occurring during such process were managed aptly so that an efficient improvement plan of the online writing correction program can be designed. Accordingly a size of the institutes performing corrections in university and a current status of the correction programs are evaluated in chapter two of this study. A review was made on nine domestic universities to examine objects of correction, responsible personnel for correction, major activities related with correction. A current status of the online correction program of Hansung University was introduced in chapter three. Examined were the methods of operation, operation procedures, and correction methods of the Hansung University`s correction program. Moreover purpose and constructing process of devising a `standard for correction` were reviewed. Subsequently a case study of the correction based on the devised `standard for correction` was illustrated. Considerationin chapter four as follows: specific degree and parameter of correction; training program for the personnel performing correction; and correction feedback.
대학 신입생의 글쓰기 능력에 대한 학생 자신의 인식 분석 -한성대학교 2014년 신입생을 대상으로-

This study is to investigate and analyze self-awareness of writing skills by college freshmen students. The subjects are attendees of <Thought and Expression> at Hansung University in 2014, and the study was conducted in March, before the lecture began. The survey was composed of total 24 questions in 5 categories such as language standard ability, composition and expansion ability, ability to compose various types of writings, ability of self-adjustment and continuous possibility, and awareness of significance of writing. The self-evaluated score for composition by students was 65.22 on average. While the response of “Very Likely” was the most frequent response from the ability of language standard, the response of “Likely” was the most frequent response from the ability of writing and expansion. Among the language standard, students felt more difficult in spacing among words and use of punctuation marks than in spelling. The 25% of students excluding those in liberal arts school showed insufficient consideration regarding purpose and readers of writings, and the response of “Likely” was the most frequent response from the ability of conducting various types of writings. The response of “Not Likely” was the most frequent from the ability of self-adjustment and writing steps. On the other hand, vague trust of performing good writing was high, while there was no active effort to write good writings. The result of this survey is to analyze self-awareness of writing skill by students. Since awareness of writing skills is not equivalent to the actual ability of writing, one shall be aware of analyzing and accepting the result of this study.

Hansung University Essay Contest has hosted 10 essay contests as of year 2015. This contest is arranged as a part of extracurricular program in connection with the regular course called ‘Thoughts and Expressions’ in 2006 and is hosted in spring semester. It takes about a month from announcement to evaluation of the event and prize winners are selected through the process of preliminary, intermediary and final evaluations. Essay questions are chosen from various topics in consideration of relevance and timeliness of a study, on which college students are able to contemplate and present their opinions. Essay contests, if provided as part of extracurricular program, need to have the identity of liberal education somewhat alienated by basic education and practical studies and the needs of the contemporary times appropriately incorporated into them. Therefore, college essay contests should be planned to trigger profound thoughts of cultured persons by presenting a variety of topics that deserve attention of cultured persons in the contemporary. In addition, it should serve as an opportunity of educational experiences where students are able to integrate a variety of knowledge in major field of study accumulated during their academic years.
