The silk fabrics was treated with silicone resin and catalyst to improve a water repellency. Whiteness index as well as water repellency were used to evaluate the finishing effectiveness in advance, and the suitable curing conditions were determined. Twenty cycles of dry cleaning were executed to evaluate the durability of silicone resin. The water repellency of the finished silk after dry cleaning was excellent and the drapeness of the finished silk was similar to the untreated silk except the high concentration treatment. The air permeability of the finished silk was remarkably decreased with the resin concentration and the number of dry cleaning. The decrease of the tensile strength of the finished silk was less than 15%.
난삭재인 STD11 강의 정면밀링가공시 절삭특성에 관한 연구

Wear and fracture mode of ceramic tool for hardened Std11 steel was investigated by face milling in this study. The cutting force and acoustic emission(AE) signal were utilized to detect the wear and fracture of ceramic tool. The following conclusions were obtained : (1) The wear and fracture modes of ceramic tool are characterized by the three types : ① wear which has normal wear and notch wear, ② wear caused by scooping on the rake face, ③ large fracture caused by thermal crack in the rake face. (2) The wear behaviour of ceramic tool can be detected by the increase of mean cutting force and the variation of the AE RMS voltage. (3) The catastrophic fracture of ceramic tool can be detected by the cutting force(Fz-component). (4) As the hardness of work material increased, acoustic emission RMS valve and mean cutting force(Fz) increased linearly, but the tool life decrease.

Effect of air pollution on environment must be predicted accurately in order that air pollution may be solved and effective management plans established. Recently, air pollution models are used to predict the effect of emission source on air pollution and manage air environment. And these are useful to assess the effect of air pollutant. In this paper, air pollution model(ISCST) was applied to identify the effects of incineration plant on air quality in around area. Emission rates of CO, NOx, SOx, HCl, dust, dioxin and operation condition of incineration plant were investigated for the purpose of the model simulation. And computational domain with a grid of 0.5㎞ × 0.5㎞ was 15㎞ × 15㎞. Meterological data for the last 5 years(’97.’01) were used as input data.

This paper presents the robust control of a composite beam using μ-synthesis. The natural frequencies of the composite beam featured by a piezo-film sensor and piezo-ceramic actuator are calculated by using the modal analysis method and then modal coordinates are introduced to obtain the state equations of the structural system. Two-natural frequency were considered in the modelling, because robust control theory which has inherent robustness to structured uncertainty is adopted to suppress the transients vibrations of a glass fiber reinforced(GFR) composite beam. A robust controller satisfying the nominal performance and robust performance is designed using μ-synthesis theory based on the structured singular value. Simulations and experiments were carried out with the designed controller and effectiveness of the robust control strategy was verified by results.
청색광소자용 사파이어웨이퍼 표면 미세가공 변형특성 연구

The sapphire wafers for blue light emitting devices were manufactured by the implementation of the surface machining technology based on micro-tribology. This process has been performed by grinding, lapping and polishing. The surfaces of sapphire wafers were mechanically affected by residual stress and surface default. This mechanical stress and strain can be cured by thermal annealing process. The sapphire crystalline wafers were annealed at 1100∼1400℃ and then characterized by double crystal X-ray diffraction. The sample showed good quality of crystalline wafer surface with full width at half maximum of 16 arcsec for the 4-hour heat-treatment at 1300℃.
전주산업단지 및 주변지역 VOCs 및 악취물질 모니터링

Important main odorous compounds and VOCs(volatile organic compounds) possibly emitted from the Jeon-Ju Industrial Sites were identified and measured in amount through making air sampling over Jeon-Ju Industrial Sites and analyzing them with the sate of the art analytical instrument. Sampling sites were chosen 8 points by considering the industrial characteristics for the 1,2 Industrial Sites and 2 points for the 3 Industrial. Site Sampling times were two times, the first one was March. 2002 - April. 2002, and the second was May. 2002 - July. 2002. Canister sampling units and polyester bags were used to collect 6 liters air samples during 1hour or 3minutes for VOCs and polyester bags were used to sample 10 - 50 liters of air for 3 minutes depending on analytic characteristics of odor compounds. The important main VOCs were measured as acetone, ethyl benzene, n-hexane, m,p-xylene, toluene, M.E.K.(methyl ethyl ketone), isopropanol, ethyl acetate, o-xylene, n-butyl acetate, ethanol, benzene as in order of average concentration for the Industrial Sites. The main odorous compounds were COS, H2S, CS2, MM(methyl mercaptan), form aldehyde, acetaldehyde for the 1,2 Industrial Sites and COS, H2S, form aldehyde, acetaldehyde were measured as main species for the 3 Industrial Site. NH3 was measured as below the detection limit of the instrument. The concentrations of sulfide compounds for the 1,2 Industrial Sites were relatively higher than ones for the 3 Industrial Site. Among aldehydes, form aldehyde, acetaldehyde were detected very highly as 0.1- 1ppm over all the Industrial Sites.

In this paper we proposed a method which can improve speech intelligibility and naturalness under a low bit rate speech coder. Here we use an adaptive time scale modification based on waveform similarity overlap add algorithm. We applied the method as a pre-processor in MELP speech coder using different scale factors determined by three kind of speech regions : voiced, unvoiced sound and silence. The energy and ZCR(Zero Crossing Rate) parameters are used to determine scale factors.
