Online fashion shopping: mystery shopping-based evaluation of online German fashion stores

The purpose of this study is to evaluate online German fashion shopping websites froma customer perspective, based on a two-dimensional conceptual framework coveringshopping experience and shopping quality. As the research methodology, anexploratory mystery shopping approach was used in order to compare online shops. The results were as follows. First, four categories of online shops were identified:heroes, marketing winners, process winners, and underperformers. Second, three mainlevers for improvement were elaborated: emotionality of websites, reducingcomplexity, and the introduction of an industry standard of payments. From theseresults, it is possible to analyze and benchmark websites and to adapt online marketingdecisions as well as general management strategies for online fashion shoppingcompanies. The study has originality and value as it is the first time that an evaluationof websites has combined the consumer’s perspective before the purchase and itsfulfillment (e.g. delivery) after the online purchase.
Simplified stress-strain model for circular steel tube confined UHPC and UHPFRC columns

The research on the confinement behavior of ultra high performance concrete without and with the use of steel fibers (UHPC and UHPFRC) has been extremely limited. In previous studies, authors experimentally investigated the axially compressive behavior of circular steel tube confined concrete (STCC) short and intermediate columns with the employment of UHPC and UHPFRC. Under loading on only the concrete core, the confinement effect induced by the steel tube was shown to significantly enhance the utimate stress and its corresponding strain of the concrete core. Therefore, this paper develops a simplified stress – strain model for circular STCC columns using UHPC and UHPFRC with compressive strength ranging between 150 MPa and 200 MPa. Based on the regression analysis of previous test results, formulae for predicting peak confined stress and its corresponding strain are proposed. These proposed formulae are subsequently compared against some previous empirical formulae available in the literature to assess their accuracy. Finally, the simplified stress . strain model is verified by comparison with the test results.

<P>Reprogramming of somatic cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) by retroviral overexpression of the transcription factors Oct4, Sox2, Klf4, and c-Myc holds great promise for the development of personalized cell replacement therapies. In an attempt to minimize the risk for chromosomal disruption and to simplify reprogramming, several studies demonstrated that a reduced set of reprogramming factors is sufficient to generate iPSC, albeit at lower efficiency. To elucidate the influence of factor reduction on subsequent differentiation, we compared the efficiency of neuronal differentiation in iPSC generated from postnatal murine neural stem cells with either one (Oct4; iPSC(1F-NSC) ), two (Oct4, Klf4; iPSC(2F-NSC) ), or all four factors (iPSC(4F-NSC) ) with those of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and iPSC produced from fibroblasts with all four factors (iPSC(4F-MEF) ). After 2 weeks of coculture with PA6 stromal cells, neuronal differentiation of iPSC(1F-NSC) and iPSC(2F-NSC) was less efficient compared with iPSC(4F-NSC) and ESC, yielding lower proportions of colonies that stained positive for early and late neuronal markers. Electrophysiological analyses after 4 weeks of differentiation identified functional maturity in neurons differentiated from ESC, iPSC(2F-NSC) , iPSC(4F-NSC) , and iPSC(4F-MEF) but not in those from iPSC(1F-NSC) . Similar results were obtained after hematoendothelial differentiation on OP9 bone marrow stromal cells, where factor-reduced iPSC generated lower proportions of colonies with hematoendothelial progenitors than colonies of ESC, iPSC(4F-NSC) , and iPSC(4F-MEF) . We conclude that a reduction of reprogramming factors does not only reduce reprogramming efficiency but may also worsen subsequent differentiation and hinder future application of iPSC in cell replacement therapies.</P>

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favorable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment and to take part in the Government of his/her country. To attempts to eliminate gender-based poverty, women’s equal participation and leadership in decision-making processes at every level and in every sector is fundamental.

<P>Abstract. We present atmospheric sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) mole fractions and emissions estimates from the 1970s to 2008. Measurements were made of archived air samples starting from 1973 in the Northern Hemisphere and from 1978 in the Southern Hemisphere, using the Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment (AGAGE) gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric (GC-MS) systems. These measurements were combined with modern high-frequency GC-MS and GC-electron capture detection (ECD) data from AGAGE monitoring sites, to produce a unique 35-year atmospheric record of this potent greenhouse gas. Atmospheric mole fractions were found to have increased by more than an order of magnitude between 1973 and 2008. The 2008 growth rate was the highest recorded, at 0.29 ± 0.02 pmolmol−1 yr−1. A three-dimensional chemical transport model and a minimum variance Bayesian inverse method was used to estimate annual emission rates using the measurements, with a priori estimates from the Emissions Database for Global Atmospheric Research (EDGAR, version 4). Consistent with the mole fraction growth rate maximum, global emissions during 2008 were also the highest in the 1973-2008 period, reaching 7.4 ± 0.6 Gg yr−1 (1-σ uncertainties) and surpassing the previous maximum in 1995. The 2008 values follow an increase in emissions of 48 ± 20% since 2001. A second global inversion which also incorporated National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) flask measurements and in situ monitoring site data agreed well with the emissions derived using AGAGE measurements alone. By estimating continent-scale emissions using all available AGAGE and NOAA surface measurements covering the period 2004-2008, with no pollution filtering, we find that it is likely that much of the global emissions rise during this five-year period originated primarily from Asian developing countries that do not report detailed, annual emissions to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). We also find it likely that SF6 emissions reported to the UNFCCC were underestimated between at least 2004 and 2005. </P>

<P>Abstract. Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) is a first-generation ozone-depleting substance, and its emissive use and production were globally banned by the Montreal Protocol with a 2010 phase-out; however, production and consumption for non-dispersive use as a chemical feedstock and as a process agent are still allowed. This study uses the high frequency and magnitude of CCl4 pollution events from an 8-year real-time atmospheric measurement record obtained at Gosan station (a regional background monitoring site in East Asia) to present evidence of significant unreported emissions of CCl4. Top-down emissions of CCl4 amounting to 23.6±7.1 Gg yr−1 from 2011 to 2015 are estimated for China, in contrast to the most recently reported, post-2010, Chinese bottom-up emissions of 4.3-5.2 Gg yr−1. The missing emissions (∼19 Gg yr−1) for China contribute to approximately 54 % of global CCl4 emissions. It is also shown that 89 %±6 % of CCl4 enhancements observed at Gosan are related to CCl4 emissions from the production of CH3Cl, CH2Cl2, CHCl3 and C2Cl4 and its usage as a feedstock and process agent in chemical manufacturing industries. Specific sources and processes are identified using statistical methods, and it is considered highly unlikely that CCl4 is emitted by dispersive uses such as old landfills, contaminated soils and solvent usage. It is thus crucial to implement technical improvements and better regulation strategies to reduce evaporative losses of CCl4 occurring at the factory and/or process levels. </P>
