        Texture Adjustment of Hot-Rolled Fe-1.6wt% Si Non-oriented Electrical Steel Sheet by Annealing Processes

        In the present work, the effect of pre-annealing on the recrystallized texture of hot-rolled Fe-1.6 wt% Si non-oriented electricalsteel was investigated. Vickers hardness test, optical microscope, and electron backscatter diffraction were used to investigatethe changes in the average hardness, microstructure, and texture caused by pre-annealing of hot-rolled strips. It was found thatthe texture successively changed from a near-random distribution to {116} < 151 > texture and near-{001} < 140 > texturedepending on pre-annealing treatments. Also, there was almost no effect on the grain size, and the average grain size of thenormalized bands was 125 μm. Besides, the texture and magnetic properties of the final products under different pre-annealingtreatments were also detected. It was found that the sample obtain a strong Cube texture by pre-annealing. Meanwhile, themagnetic properties are also got an improvement by pre-annealing. In a word, this method may provide a possibility to obtainan ideal grain size and texture simultaneously.

        Melittin induces autophagy to alleviate chronic renal failure in 5/6-nephrectomized rats and angiotensin II-induced damage in podocytes

        "BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Chronic renal failure (CRF) is a complex pathological condition that lacks a cure. Certain Chinese medicines, such as melittin, a major component in bee venom, have shown efficacy in treating CRF patients. On the other hand, the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of melittin are unclear. MATERIALS/METHODS A 5/6 nephrectomy model (5/6 Nx) of renal failure was established on rats for in vivo assays, and mouse podocyte clone 5 (MPC5) mouse podocyte cells were treated with angiotensin II (AngII) to establish an in vitro podocyte damage model. The 24-h urine protein, serum creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen levels were evaluated after one, 2, and 4 weeks. Hematoxylin and eosin staining, Masson staining, and periodic acid-Schiff staining were used to examine the pathological changes in kidney tissues. A cell counting kit 8 assay was used to assess the cell viability. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blot were used to assess the mRNA and protein levels in the cells, respectively. RESULTS In the rat 5/6 Nx, melittin reduced the 24-h urinary protein excretion and the serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels. Furthermore, the renal pathology was improved in the melittin-treated 5/6 Nx rats. Melittin promoted podocin, nephrin, Beclin 1, and the LC3II/LC3I ratio and inhibited phosphorylated mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)/mTOR in 5/6 Nx-induced rats and AngII-induced MPC5 mouse podocyte cells. Moreover, inhibiting autophagy with 3-MA weakened the effects of melittin on podocin, nephrin, and the LC3II/LC3I ratio in podocytes. CONCLUSION Melittin may offer protection against kidney injury, probably by regulating podocyte autophagy. These results provide the theoretical basis for applying melittin in CRF therapy."         Development of a 120 Hz 110 ultra-high-definition a-Si liquid crystal display panel

        A prototype 120 Hz 110-inch ultra-high-definition a-Si liquid crystal display (LCD) panel was successfully developed using the BOE exclusive advanced superdimensional switching technology. This LCD has a panel consisting of 3840 × 2160 pixels, four times the number of pixels in the conventional full-high-definition LCD. For the brightness and contrast ratio, 1000 nits and 1200:1 have been achieved, respectively. Additionally, the liquid crystal charging time has been extended through quad area driving and 2G2D line structures. Furthermore, the local dimming and mirror-scanning techniques are applied to realize excellent image display. Finally, the system utilizes 3D shutter glasses, allowing the viewer to achieve the highest sense of realness and immersion.

        Association between the severity of hypodontia and the characteristics of craniofacial morphology in a Chinese population: A cross-sectional study

        Objective: To investigate craniofacial differences in individuals with hypodontia and explore the relationship between craniofacial features and the number of congenitally missing teeth. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 261 Chinese patients (males, 124; females, 137; age, 7–24 years), divided into four groups (without hypodontia: no teeth missing, mild: one or two missing teeth, moderate: three to five missing teeth, severe: six or more missing teeth) according to the number of congenitally missing teeth. Differences in cephalometric measurements among the groups were analyzed. Further, multivariate linear regression and smooth curve fitting were performed to evaluate the relationship between the number of congenitally missing teeth and the cephalometric measurements. Results: In patients with hypodontia, SNA, NA-AP, FH-NA, ANB, Wits, ANS-Me/N-Me, GoGn-SN, UL-EP, and LL-EP significantly decreased, while Pog-NB, AB-NP, N-ANS, and S-Go/N-Me significantly increased. In multivariate linear regression analysis, SNB, Pog-NB, and S-Go/N-Me were positively related to the number of congenitally missing teeth. In contrast, NA-AP, FH-NA, ANB, Wits, N-Me, ANS-Me, ANS-Me/N-Me, GoGn-SN, SGn-FH (Y-axis), UL-EP, and LL-EP were negatively related, with absolute values of regression coefficients ranging from 0.147 to 0.357. Further, NA-AP, Pog-NB, S-Go/N-Me, and GoGn-SN showed the same tendency in both sexes, whereas UL-EP and LL-EP were different. Conclusions: Compared with controls, patients with hypodontia tend toward a Class III skeletal relationship, reduced lower anterior face height, flatter mandibular plane, and more retrusive lips. The number of congenitally missing teeth had a greater effect on certain characteristics of craniofacial morphology in males than in females.

        Dynamic Rheological Behavior, Processability and Mechanical Properties of PVC/Butyl Acrylate-grafted-Methyl Methacrylate/Styrene Blends

        Core-shell structured grafted copolymer particles of butyl acrylate (BA) grafted methyl methacrylate (MMA) and styrene (St) monomers (ACR-g-St) were prepared by seed emulsion polymerization. Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)/ACR-g-St blends were proposed. The fusion properties, dynamic mechanical behavior, rheological behavior, mechanical properties and morphology of blends were characterized by a torque rheometer, dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA), rotational rheometer, universal mechanical testing machine and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that the ACR-g-St particles accelerated the fusion of PVC resins, but the equilibrium torque increased slightly. The storage modulus (G′), loss modulus (G″) and complex viscosity (η<SUP>*</SUP>) of melts exhibited a monotonic changing with frequency and all had minimum values when ACR-g-St content was 16 phr. The tensile and impact strength were highest at 8 phr content of ACR-g-St. ACR-g-St not only can be used as an efficient impact aid but also plays a role of lubricant, which is helpful for PVC processing.
