        A Study on the Impact of Digital Trade Barriers on China’s Cross-border E-commerce Exports

        This study examines the impact of digital trade barriers on China’s cross-border e-commerce exports, and provides theoretical support and recommendations on how China’s cross-border e-commerce industry can cope with the increasing number of digital trade barriers. First, the digital trade barriers and the factors influencing them were defined. Next, the current situation of digital trade barriers and China’s cross-border e-commerce exports were analyzed. Then, the influencing factors of digital trade barriers on China’s cross-border e-commerce exports were examined. Finally, feasible recommendations for promoting China’s cross-border e-commerce exports were proposed from the perspectives of the government and enterprises. Through this study, cross-border e-commerce export enterprises can gain a clear understanding of digital trade barriers, an emerging trade restriction measure, in order to effectively respond to them. Moreover, these enterprises will be able to maintain their core competitiveness and avoid being disadvantaged in the process of globalization, and thereby improve their export efficiency.

        The Impact of Prolonged Duration of Untreated Illness on Clinical Correlates in Chronic Schizophrenia: Exploring the Relationship With Suicide Risk

        Objective Studies on duration of untreated psychosis are common in patients with schizophrenia, but few studies have investigated the relationship between duration of untreated illness (DUI) and suicide, especially in patients with chronic schizophrenia. Therefore, we intended to investigate the relationship between DUI and suicide and clinical correlates in patients with chronic schizophrenia.Methods A total of 1,555 Chinese patients with chronic schizophrenia were enrolled in this study. DUI was measured in years, reflecting the prolonged untreated periods observed in this population. Clinical correlates were assessed, including symptoms, cognitive functioning, and body mass index. Suicidal ideation and attempts were also examined. Statistical analyses, including multivariate models, were employed to investigate the associations between DUI and clinical correlates while controlling for potential confounders.Results The study revealed a significant proportion (23.3%) of patients with chronic schizophrenia in China received their first treatment after a 4-year delay, with the longest untreated duration reaching 39 years. Patients with longer DUI exhibited more severe negative symptoms, lower immediate memory scores, a higher likelihood of being overweight, and surprisingly, a reduced likelihood of suicidal ideation and attempts. Each additional year of untreated illness was associated with a 3% decrease in the risk of suicidal ideation and attempts.Conclusion The findings underscore the prevalence of extended untreated periods in Chinese patients with chronic schizophrenia and highlight the impact of DUI on negative symptoms, cognitive function, and body weight. Intriguingly, a longer DUI was associated with a lower risk of suicidal ideation and attempts.

        The exploration of U(VI) concentration improvement in carbonate medium for alkaline reprocessing process

        The purpose of this study is to improve the concentration of U(VI) in carbonate solution reasonably, which to improve the application potential of the alkaline reprocessing processes. The dissolution behavior of U<sub>3</sub>O<sub>8</sub> in carbonate peroxide solutions was investigated under different conditions, including pH, carbonate concentration, and solid-liquid ratio. The results showed that the dissolution rate of U<sub>3</sub>O<sub>8</sub> increased with the increase of pH from 8 to 11 in the mixed carbonate solution containing 0.5 mol/L H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>. The role of carbonate ions in the dissolution of U<sub>3</sub>O<sub>8</sub> was further elucidated by observing the dissolution of UO<sub>4</sub>⋅4H<sub>2</sub>O in carbonate solutions. Furthermore, the concentration of U(VI) in 3 mol/L Na<sub>2</sub>CO<sub>3</sub> solution was successfully increased to 350 g/L under ultrasonic-assisted conditions at 60 ℃ and a solid-liquid ratio at 1/2 g/mL. Meanwhile, it is suggested that increasing the concentration of carbonate ions can improve the stability of the dissolved solution containing uranyl peroxycarbonate complex.

        Ultrasonic-assisted dissolution of U3O8 in carbonate medium

        Ultrasound-assisted dissolution of U3O8 powder in carbonate solution was explored to determine if and how ultrasound act during the dissolution. The variation of U3O8 solid particles and uranyl complexes under ultrasound treatment and magnetic stirring was observed in carbonate media. The results show that the use of ultrasound can increase the solubility and dissolution rate of U3O8 powder than that under magnetic stirring. The crush of U3O8 particles and the reduction of the activation energy (Ea, kJ/ mol) of U3O8 dissolution reaction were observed, which both play an important role in the ultrasonicassisted dissolution of U3O8 in carbonate-peroxide solution. Meanwhile, there is no observation of the ultrasound effect on the distribution of uranyl species and hydrolysis of uranyl complexes during the ultrasound treatment in carbonate-peroxide solution. Although the generation of $OH radicals under ultrasound (22 ± 2 kHz) was observed, the oxidation of $OH had little effect on the dissolution of U3O8 in the carbonate-peroxide solution system.

        Contact toxicity of a new acaricide, SYP-9625, to the natural predator, Chrysopa pallens

        SYP-9625 is a novel acaricide synthesized by using cyenopyrafen as lead compound. It is characterized by high acaricidal activity and low toxicity to mammals and has been widely used in Chinese farming areas. However, to date, the toxicity of SYP-9625 to natural enemy insects remained unclear. Here, we evaluated the effects of SYP-9625 on survival, growth, metamorphosis and reproduction of a common natural predator, Chrysopa pallens. Contact toxicity bioassay revealed that SYP-9625 had no significant detrimental impacts on egg hatchability, larval survival and duration, pupation rate, pupal mass, emergence rate, digestive enzyme activity, reproductive output and offspring quality, but drastically reduced adult survival rate, adult lifespan, secondary follicle size and vitellogenin (Vg) transcripts by 27.8%, 15.4%, 33.4% and 59.4%, respectively, suggesting a low contact toxicity of SYP-9625 to C. pallens. This study will strengthen the compatibility of chemical acaricide and natural enemy insects in integrated pest management.

        Detection of Water Cloud Microphysical Properties Using Multi-scattering Polarization Lidar

        Multiscattering occurs when a laser transmits into dense atmosphere targets (e.g. fogs, smoke or clouds), which can cause depolarization effects even though the scattering particles are spherical. In addition, multiscattering effects have additional information about microphysical properties of scatterers. Thus, multiscattering can be utilized to study the microphysical properties of the liquid water cloud. In this paper, a Monte Carlo method was used to simulate multi-scattering transmission properties of Lidar signals in the cloud. The results showed the slope of the degree of linear polarization (SLDLP) can be used to invert the extinction coefficient, and then the cloud effective size (CES) and the liquid water content (LWC) may be easily obtained by using the extinction coefficient and saturation of the degree of linear polarization (SADLP). Based on calculation results, a microphysical properties inversion method for a liquid cloud was presented. An innovative multiscattering polarization Lidar (MSPL) system was constructed to measure the LWC and CES of the liquid cloud, and a new method based on the polarization splitting ratio of the Polarization Beam Splitter (PBS) was developed to calibrate the polarization channels of MSPL. By analyzing the typical observation data of MSPL observation in the northern suburbs of Nanjing, China, the LWC and CES of the liquid water cloud were obtained. Comparisons between the results from the MSPL, MODIS and the Microwave radar data showed that, the microphysical properties of liquid cloud could be retrieved by combining our MSPL and the inversion method.

        Shaking Table Test of Water Supply Pipes Installed in a Full-Scale Masonry Structure

        The seismic performance of indoor water supply pipes plays a significant role during earthquakes, and the failure of pipes causes severe economic losses and other disasters. This paper presents shaking table test research on water supply pipes installed in a full-scale masonry structure. Three different material pipes and three different material fillers were combined to evaluate the difference in seismic performance. In this study, normalized floor response spectra and pipe acceleration amplification factors obtained from experimental data were compared with code provisions. Spectrum analysis was used to evaluate the pipeline seismic response, and the results showed that the combination of pipes and fillers with similar material properties vibrated partially at multiple frequencies. In contrast, the combination of pipes and fillers with very different material properties only vibrated near the predominant structural period.

        An Analysis of Population Polices in China

        This paper examines the impact of various population policies in China, in particular, how to increase the fertility rate and reduce the age dependency ratio. The investigation carried out involved the identification of relevant factors, the establishment of causal relationships between factors and the building of a causal loop diagram, and subsequent conversion into a stock and flow diagram for running simulations. Data collected were from newspapers, published reports, and official government websites. The results obtained from the simulations revealed that the newly implemented two-child policy would most likely be ineffective in alleviating the issue of ageing population in China. Sensitivity analysis carried out to identify potential points of intervention revealed two possible measures. Both measures were shown to be effective in increasing the Actual Fertility Rate, and also in slowing down the increase in Aged Dependency Ratio. Hence, it is recommended that the Chinese government introduce alternative measures, such as giving cash bonus to families that give birth to a second child, or implementing policies that reduce the cost of healthcare services, in order to ensure that its population is productive, and continues to be so in the future.

      • Band Structure Engineering of Layered WSe<sub>2</sub><i>via</i> One-Step Chemical Functionalization

        <P>Chemical functionalization is demonstrated to enhance the p-type electrical performance of two-dimensional (2D) layered tungsten diselenide (WSe<SUB>2</SUB>) field-effect transistors (FETs) using a one-step dipping process in an aqueous solution of ammonium sulfide [(NH<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>S(aq)]. Molecularly resolved scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy reveal that molecular adsorption on a monolayer WSe<SUB>2</SUB> surface induces a reduction of the electronic band gap from 2.1 to 1.1 eV and a Fermi level shift toward the WSe<SUB>2</SUB> valence band edge (VBE), consistent with an increase in the density of positive charge carriers. The mechanism of electronic transformation of WSe<SUB>2</SUB> by (NH<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>S(aq) chemical treatment is elucidated using density functional theory calculations which reveal that molecular “SH” adsorption on the WSe<SUB>2</SUB> surface introduces additional in-gap states near the VBE, thereby, inducing a Fermi level shift toward the VBE along with a reduction in the electronic band gap. As a result of the (NH<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>S(aq) chemical treatment, the p-branch ON-currents (<I>I</I><SUB>ON</SUB>) of back-gated few-layer ambipolar WSe<SUB>2</SUB> FETs are enhanced by about 2 orders of magnitude, and a ∼6× increase in the hole field-effect mobility is observed, the latter primarily resulting from the p-doping-induced narrowing of the Schottky barrier width leading to an enhanced hole injection at the WSe<SUB>2</SUB>/contact metal interface. This (NH<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>S(aq) chemical functionalization technique can serve as a model method to control the electronic band structure and enhance the performance of devices based on 2D layered transition-metal dichalcogenides.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
