Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the main cause of cervical cancer. Limited epidemiologic data of HPV prevalence are available for women attending hospitals in southern China. This study aimed to evaluate the profiles of HPV infection and cytology status in gynecological outpatients in Chaozhou City. Methods: A total of 2833 eligible women were enrolled. The HPV GenoArray test was used for HPV detection and genotyping. Nearly one half of the HPV positive women received liquid-based cytology test. Logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the predictable effects of age and genotype for categories of abnormal cytology. Results: The prevalence of overall, high-risk, and low-risk HPV infection were 24.5%, 19.5% and 8.4%, respectively. A U-shaped age-specific prevalence curve was observed in overall HPV and high-risk HPV, but not in low-risk HPV, which declined with age increasing. The 6 most common high-risk HPV type in descending order, were types 52, 16, 58, 18, 68, and 33. Age and HPV genotype were both important determinants of abnormal cytology incidence, the older women (>45 years) and those infected with HPV type 16 and/or 18 having the highest risk for abnormal cytology. Conclusion: Our findings support the hypothesis that second-generation HPV prophylactic vaccines including HPV-52 and -58 may offer higher protection for women residing in Chaozhou and neighboring cities in Guangdong.

Background: To explore the relationship between polymorphisms of interleukin17 (IL-17) gene(A-832G 7488A/G) and the susceptibility to silicosis, a risk factor for lung cancer. Materials and Methods: A total of 113 silicosis patients and 116 workers without silicosis were enrolled in the case-control study. IL-17A A-832G and IL-17F 7488A/G polymorphisms were evaluated by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). Results: The frequencies of AA,GG and AG of IL-17A A-832G locus in the case and control groups were 46.9%, 8.0%, 45.1%, and 49.2%, 7.6%, 43.2%, respectively, with no significant differences (p>0.05).The GG genotype in the IL-17F (7488A/G) locus was not found. The frequencies of AA and GA of IL-17F 7488A/G locus in the case and control groups were 84.1%, 15.9% and 66.4%, 33.6%, respectively (p<0.05). Analysis of combined effects showed that the individuals with GG+AG genotype of IL-17A and GG+GA genotype of IL-17F are protected against silicosis (OR=0.469). Conclusions: IL-17F 7488A/G is associated with susceptibility to silicosis, and G allele may have a protective effect. No relationship was found between IL-17A gene polymorphisms at A-832G and silicosis.
Large-scale dataset from China gives new insights into leaf margin-temperature relationships

Leaf margin analysis (LMA) is an important method of estimating paleotemperatures from fossil leaf floras or modern floras. Although some calibration has been carried out based upon large-scale studies of modern forests, most of this research has been in North America and Europe, with relatively little calibration work in East Asia. In the present study, we used species range maps of 3116 native dicot trees of China to derive synthetic local floras for each county from the Chinese humid region, and compared the percentage of untoothed leaf margined species with several temperature and precipitation related parameters. The results confirm the generally strong relationship between the proportion of species with untoothed leaf margins and climatic parameters within China. Leaf habit (deciduous vs. evergreen) does not strongly affect this relationship. The transfer function obtained from China, while not identical, is similar to those obtained from other regions, and is affected by regional restrictions, such as complex topography and relic taxa. As such it clarifies the potential range of error inherent in the LMA method as applied to paleodimate reconstruction. It is possible, however, that with the close similarity of the modern Chinese tree floras to Neogene floras in the Northern Hemisphere, the present estimate offers a better transfer function for reconstructing the Neogene paleoclimate in various regions without extremely cold conditions across the Northern Hemisphere. The strategy for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is often diagnosed as an advanced state due to no obvious symptoms in the early stage, which leads to the high mortality rate. Although a multikinase inhibitor sorafenib (Nexavar®. BAY43-9006) is so far the standard treatment for advanced HCC, the therapeutic efficacy is not shown as predicted. It prompts us to develop alternative strategies for improvement of sorafenib therapy in HCC. Chrysin is proposed as a potent inhibitor of breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP/ABCG2), which functions as a mediator of drug efflux, to reverse BCRP-mediated multidrug resistance (MDR) to chemotherapy. Our previous study demonstrates that BCRP expression level affects the sensitivity of HCC cells to sorafenib. Co-treatment of chrysin greatly synergized the effect of sorafenib on the inhibition of HCC cell viability. Whether there is other mechanism than inhibition of drug efflux responsible for the synergistic effect of chrysin on sorafenib activity in HCC cells is still not clearly elucidated. It is reported that high basal phosphorylation level of ERK1/2 benefits the response of HCC cells to sorafenib both in vitro and in vivo. Our results showed that chrysin increased ERK1/2 phosphorylation level of HCC cells in both time- and dose-dependent manners. Furthermore, we found that chrysin-synergized antigrowth activity of sorafenib in HCC cells was enhanced by overexpression of MEK1, an upstream regulator of ERK1/2 phosphorylation. However, this synergistic effect was lost when MEK activity was blocked by either U0126 inhibitor or MEK1 siRNA, which suggests MEK1-ERK1/2 pathway as a critical role in this regulation. Further mechanism analysis revealed that overexpression of MEK 1 slowed the growth rate of HCC cells. Indeed, both sorafenib activity and phosphorylation of MEK1-ERK1/2 pathway were increased in HCC cells with medium containing lower percentage of serum. In parallel, chrysin could no longer have synergistic effect on sorafenib activity in FICC cells with medium containing lower percentage of serum. Taken together, these results suggest that sustained ERK1/2 phosphorylation by chrysin renders HCC cells exhibiting a slow-growth pattern, which in turn renders HCC cells more sensitive to sorafenib treatment. Chrysin may be as a potential sensitizer to elevate the anti-growth activity of sorafenib in HCC cells in the future.
A routing protocol based on Context-Awareness for Energy Conserving in MANET

Ad hoc networks are a type of mobile network that function without any fixed infrastructure. One of the weaknesses of ad hoc network is that a route used between a source and a destination is to break during communication. To solve this problem, one approach consists of selecting routes whose nodes have the most stable link cost. This paper proposes a method for improving the low power distributed MAC. This method is based on the context awareness of the each nodes energy in clustering. We propose to select a new scheme to optimize energy conserving between the clustering nodes in MANET. And this architecture scheme would use context-aware considering the energy related information such as energy, RF strength, relative distances between each node in mobile ad hoc networks. The proposed networks scheme could get better improve the awareness for data to achieve and performance on their clustering establishment and messages transmission. Also, by using the context aware computing, according to the condition and the rules defined, the sensor nodes could adjust their behaviors correspondingly to improve the network routing.

In this paper, a series of PAC (polyaluminum chloride) samples were prepared for rosin neutral sizing system. Some characters of PAC were discussed in detail. The experimental results show that it is possible to achieve neutral sizing when PAC is compounded with DRS(dispersed rosin size)instead of alum (aluminum sulfate).

A novel gem-dinitro bis(2,2-dinitropropyl ethylene) formal (BDNPEF) was synthesized and its potential application to plasticize energetic binders was investigated. BDNPEF was synthesized from aldol condensation of formaldehyde with 2,2-dinitropropanol (DNP-OH) and ethylene glycol (EG), followed by purification. One of the byproducts of this process was bis(2,2-dinitropropyl) formal (BDNPF), which is currently used as an energetic plasticizer. Compared to commercial nitro plasticizers, BDNPEF synthesized in this study showed good plasticization efficiency with a decrease in glass transition temperature (Tg) and viscosity of uncured glycidyl azide polymer (GAP) blends, as well as substantial ability to plasticize the GAP-based polyurethanes (PUs). BDNPEF has potential applications as an energetic plasticizer to engineer the properties of the GAP-based energetic PU binders.
