        How to Increase Father Involvement in the Lives of Young Children

        The purpose of this paper is to emphasize the need for father involvement and provide strategies to increase father involvement in the lives of young children. This study seeks ways to apply these strategies in the everyday lives of young children and their families. Findings of the literature review indicate that both fathers and mothers need to learn how to play an active role in their child’s education and understand that involvement includes more than simply spending time with their children. Being a good parent is difficult for anyone and parents understand its importance. However, the key is to learn the basic strategies and understand how to actively engage with their child to provide a secure and stable environment. Further research needs to be implemented on strategies to increase father involvement and ways to develop programs that can be practically applied in the field of early childhood education.

        An Investigation of Young Children’s Play Experiences through Interviews of their Play Perceptions

        This research investigated to better understand young children’s play experiences by seeking children’s own perspectives using a single interview method. This study reports on an analysis of single interviews conducted with 27 preschool children (3 to 5 years of age) in two single-age preschool classrooms and one multi-age classroom in an all-inclusive preschool setting in the United States. The findings highlight that young children are aware of their own play experiences and that they understand their role in the research process. Results of the interviews with children indicated that there was a strong relationship between children attitudes and learning through play. This study used a new method to explore play in early childhood and examined young children’s thoughts and views about their own play experiences. Results of this study demonstrate the need to provide a voice for children and to critically evaluate their capacity to participate in research. Children need to be provided every opportunity to express their own perspectives and the field of early childhood education needs to be encouraged to listen.

        Young Children’s Photographs as a Visual Research Method in Early Childhood Classrooms

        본 논문의 목적은 하나의 시각 연구 유형, 즉 사진촬영이 유아 교실에 일상적인 교육 도구로 어떻게 활용될 수 있는지 강조하는 것이다. 이 논문은 유아들의 일상생활에 사진을 적용하고 통합하는 방법과 전략에 대해 제공하는 것이다. 이 논문의 초점은 교사가 아닌 유아들이 카메라 렌즈 뒤에서 조절하고 리더로서 교실에서 활동할 수 있도록 하는 방법에 대해 논의한다. 연구자로서 유아들은 자신의 경험을 기록하고 자신의 목소리로 말할 수 있다. 카메라는 창의적이고 권한을 부여하는 도구이며 그 결과물인 이미지는 유아의 시각적인 목소리를 보여준다. 문헌 검토 결과, 유아들은 사진을 통해 언어와 문학 관련 능력 뿐 만 아니라 학습 동기도 향상시킬 수 있음을 나타낸다. 이로써, 유아 교실에서 실제로 적용 가능한 프로그램을 개발하고 이러한 시각 연구 유형을 확대하기 위해 추가적인 연구가 필요하다. The purpose of this study was to emphasize how one type of visual research: photography, can be used as an everyday teaching tool in the early childhood classroom to facilitate and enhance learning. This article discusses strategies and methods on how to apply and integrate photography in the everyday lives of young children in the early childhood classroom. The focus of this article discusses how children can lead as the sole researcher in the classroom by taking control and being behind the camera lens, not the teacher. As the researcher, children can record their own experiences and speak for themselves. The camera is a creative and empowering tool, where the resulting images act as their visual voice. Findings of the literature review indicate that through photography, not only do children enhance skills in both language and literacy, but their motivation for learning increases as well. Further research needs to be implemented to increase this type of visual research for children and find ways to develop programs that can be practically applied in the early childhood classrooms

        유아 개별 면담에 따른 유아 놀이 인식에 관한 놀이 경험 연구

        본 연구는 유아를 대상으로 한 개별 면담을 통해 유아 개개인의 인식에 의한 놀이경험을 이해하는데 더 좋은 연구방법을 모색하고자 하였다. 연구 방법으로, 미국 유치원의 단일 연령 학급 두 반, 혼합 연령 학급 한 반에 재원 하고 있는 만 3세에서 5세까지 유아 27명을 대상으로 개별면담을 1회 실시하였다. 그 결과, 특히 유아가 자신의 경험을 인식하고 역할을 이해하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 유아는 놀이에 대한 태도와 놀이 학습 사이에 강한 연관관계를 보이고 있었다. 본 연구는 유아놀이 연구에 새로운 연구 방법을 사용하였고, 유아 자신의 놀이 경험에 관한 사고와 견해를 검증하였다. 또한 연구에 유아의 목소리를 낼 수 있는 기회와 참여시킬 수 있는 유아의 능력을 심고 있게 평가해야 할 필요성을 시사하고 있다. 이로써, 유아가 자신의 관점을 표현할 수 있게 가능한 기회를 제공해야 하고 유아교육 현장에서는 유아의 이야기를 들을 수 있도록 격려하는 교육이 될 것을 제안한다.         어머니들의 그림책에 대한 부모교육 참여를 통한 자녀에게 책 읽어주기의 즐거움 찾기

        본 연구는 그림책 부모교육에 참여한 어머니들의 경험과 인식 변화를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 어머니 8명을 연구 참여자로 하여, 8주간 주1회 2시간씩 그림책에 대한 지식을 교육하고 도서대여를 실시하였다. 연구자료는 그룹면담과 개별면담 2회를 실시하여 녹음하고 QSR NVivo 10.0 프로그램으로 분석하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 그림책 부모교육에 관한 긍정적 경험은 지속적인 부모참여로써의 그림책 읽어주기로 글과 그림, 파라텍스트 읽어주기, 그림책 장르 알아가기, 좋은 그림책 찾아가기, 삶 속에 자리매김하는 그림책 읽어주기, 각자에게 적절한 그림책 읽어주기의 횟수 찾아가기로 나타났다. 둘째, 그림책 부모교육 참여를 통한 인식 변화에는 책 읽어주기의 진정한 가치 찾아가기, 부담감에서 벗어나 함께 책 읽는 즐거움 향유하기, 다른 사람들과 서평 공유할 기회 누리기 등이 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 어머니들이 어린이문학에 대한 이해를 확장하고 그림책 읽어주기를 실천할 수 있도록 능동적인 부모참여 프로그램의 필요성이 제기되었다. This research investigated mothers’ experiences and perception changes by implementing a parent participation program at a child care center focusing on picture-book knowledge and book lending to assist read-alouds to their children. Participants of this study were 8 mothers from the center who voluntarily agreed to participate, attended the education sessions on picture books, and lent books for read-alouds to their children. This study took place over a 8-week period, including 1 two-hour sessions per week to help mothers to acquire theoretical perspectives on children's literature. Interviews, both group and individual, were conducted twice respectively, audio-recorded, and analyzed using the QSR NVivo 10.0 program. It was found that the mothers perceived this parent participation program much more meaningful as they came to autonomously choose the genre and number of books to borrow, and the number of times to read to their child. The change in mothers’ perceptions through this program included finding true values of reading books, experiencing joys of interactive book-reading with their children with less burdens, and sharing perspectives on children’s literature with others. These results suggest a need to develop new approaches to parent participation programs including picture-book education, which can encourage continuously active participation from mothers, as well as expanding their understandings of children's literature and interactively reading books to their child at home.

        레오 리오니 그림책에 나타난 타자윤리와 배려적사고의 실천: 레비나스 관점을 중심으로

        본 연구의 목적은 레오 리오니(Leo Lionni)그림책에 나타난 타자윤리와 윤리적 호소 및 요청의 유형과 도덕적 명령에 따른 배려적 사고의 실천 양상을 레비나스(Emmanuei Levinas)의 관점에서 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 레오 리오니 그림책 10편을 분석대상으로 하여 타자윤리의 윤리적 호소 및 요청의 유형과 도덕적 명령에 따른 배려적 사고의 실천 양상을 살펴보았다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 레오 리오니 그림책에 나타난 타자윤리의 윤리적 호소 및 요청의 유형은 현실에 대한 어려움에 대한 요청과 인정과 지지를 호소하는 두 가지로 나타났다. 둘째, 타자윤리에 의거한 도덕적 명령에 따른 배려적 사고의 실천 양상은 타자의 어려운 현실극복을 위한 행동적 사고의 실천, 가치부여적 사고, 정서적 사고로 나타났다. 본 연구를 토대로 레오 리오니 그림책은 타자윤리를 체계적이고 풍부하게 내포하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 그림책 속에서 타자는 얼굴을 통해 인간 본연의 도덕성에 대한 윤리적 호소와 요청을 하고 있을 뿐 아니라 타자에 대한 책임이 적극적인 도덕적 명령과 실천에 따라 배려, 인정, 나눔, 환영, 응답, 연대성 등 배려적 사고의 실천의 유형으로 표상 되어 있었다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the ethics for the other, types of ethical appeal and requests and the practice of caring thinking as a result of moral imperatives shown in Leo Lionni’s picture books from the perspective of Levinas. For this, based on ten of L. Lionni’s picture books, which revealed ethical appeal and requests in accordance to the ethics for the other at their best, it was analyzed how moral imperatives derived from ethical appeal and requests affect the practice of considerate thinking. The results were as follows. First, the ethical appeal and requests from his books were expressed in two ways: Requests caused by real difficulties and an appeal for recognition and support. Second, the practice of caring thinking as a result of moral imperatives in accordance with the ethics for the other was done in two ways: The practice of behavior-oriented thinking to overcome the other’s practical difficulties and the practice of value-oriented thinking to respect the other. It was verified from the study that the ethics for the other were expressed systematically and fluently in L. Lionni’s books. That is, responsibility of the other was represented in the form of caring thinking such as consideration, recognition, sharing, welcoming, and solidarity according to moral imperatives, and their practice as well as the other makes an ethical appeal and requests for people’s inherent morality through face.

      • 금연침에 대한 반응군과 비반응군의 유전자 다형성 차이 연구

        Objectives : This study was designed to investigate the differences of effects in smoking cessation after acupuncture treatment and we hypothesized that the discrepancies might be caused by individual genetic differences. Methods : Acupuncture treatment was given to the subjects three times a week for the 231 healthy male Korean smokers without personal or familial history of psychiatric or neurological illness. We evaluated for differentiate responder and non-responder who showed more than 50% decrease in the cigarette consumption or the desire for smoking were regarded as responder, and less than 25% decrease in the cigarette consumption or the desire for smoking were regarded as non-responder, respectively. Allele and genotype frequencies of the Taq1 A polymorphism of dopamine D2 receptor (DRD2) gene were compared in 231male smokers. Chai-square analyses were performed to test for an interactive effect between the DRD2 Taq1 A allele. Results : The allele frequencies and genotype distributions of DRD2 gene among the smokers (n = 231) showed significant the differences in their genotype distributions. The responder and non-responder showed the difference in genotype distribution with a prevalence of A1 allele. A slightly positive association of DRD2 Taq1 A1 genotypes with smoking was observed. Conclusions : This experiment results indicate that the present of DRD2 allele genotype showing significant difference in the genotype distributions between responders and non-responders could be explained by the difference in the genetic effect of DRD2 A1 allele.
