Aims: This study aimed to investigate the differences in disease activity and colon contractility of ulcerative colitis (UC) rats with or without chronic stress (CS), and to identify the beneficial effects of eucalyptol in chronically stressed-UC rats. Methods: Rats were randomly assigned to the following groups: control, CS, UC, CS+UC, CS+UC+Eucalyptol, and CS+UC+Sulfasalazine. For induction of UC, rats were given 2% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-replaced water on days 1-5. On days 6-15, rats were administered free access to tap water. After that, rats were given 2% DSS-replaced water on days 16-20. Rats exposed to CS were immobilized for 2hr/day on days 1-20. Eucalyptol or sulfasalazine was daily treated on days 16-20. Results: Disease activity index was markedly increased in the CS+UC group. Acetylcholine-induced colon contraction and serum interleukin-6 levels significantly increased in the CS+UC group compared to the control, CS and UC groups. Nitrite levels in the colon tissue were higher in the CS+UC group than in the control and CS groups. Eucalyptol decreased disease activity index in chronically stressed-UC rats. Also, eucalyptol was more effective than sulfasalazine in reducing acetylcholine-induced colon contraction, nitrite levels in the colon tissue and serum interleukin-6 levels to the control levels. Conclusions: These results indicate that stress management is important in decreasing disease activity and colon contractility in UC. Also, eucalyptol can decrease disease activity by reducing colon contractility and inflammatory responses. Hepatic Toxocariasis with Atypical CT and MR Imaging Findings: a Case Report
Shin, Hye Soo,Shin, Kyung Sook,Lee, Jeong Eun,Min, Ji Hye,You, Sun Kyoung,Shin, Byung Seok Korean Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine 2018 Investigative Magnetic Resonance Imaging Vol.22 No.2
Hepatic toxocariasis is a type of visceral larva migrans caused by the migration of second-stage larvae of certain nematodes such as Toxocara canis to the liver. Histologically, the condition is characterized by granulomatous lesions containing eosinophils and inflammatory cells. We report a case of hepatic toxocariasis with atypical clinical and radiologic findings presenting as distinct, solitary hepatic nodule detected in a middle-aged woman.

Here we report the fabrication of a noncontact pulse oximeter system based on a dual-wavelength imaging system and itsoxygen saturation monitoring performance during wound healing. The dual-wavelength imaging system consists of 660 nmand 940 nm light-emitting diodes and a multi-spectral camera that simultaneously accepts visible and near-infrared images. Using the proposed system, images were acquired at 30 fps at both wavelengths, and photoplethysmography signals wereextracted by specifying a specific region in the images. We removed the signals caused by small movements and smoothedthem using the discrete wavelet transform and moving average filter. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed noncontactoxygen saturation system, a wound model was created using a hairless mouse and oxygen saturation was measured duringwound healing. The measured values were compared and analyzed using a reflective animal pulse oximeter. Through acomparative analysis of these two devices, the error of the proposed system was evaluated and the possibility of its clinicalapplication and wound healing monitoring through oxygen saturation measurement confirmed.

The purpose of this study was to make improvement suggestions for the physical environment and operation of the happy housings, based on the understanding of the residential satisfaction and regional communications of the youth who lived in the housings of Chungcheong area. Data were analyzed the percentage and ANOVA by SPSS program from the questionnaire answered by 84 young single-person households living in the happy housings located at Daejeon and Chugju city. The results were as follows. First, the satisfaction of the youth on the housing location and the surrounding environment was highest with 3.24 points, whereas the satisfaction on the distance between housing and workplace was lowest with 2.19 points. Second, the most needed community facilities for the youth were fitness centers with 64.3%, followed by reading rooms with 40.5%. Third, the most needed programs for them was the yoga and exercise program with 56.0%. Fourth, sports were the most desired activity as regional communications with 50.0% for them.

Aprotinin is an antifibrinolytic agent used to reduce the risk of postoperative bleeding complications in cardiac and vascular surgery. Although there have been many reports of serious anaphylactic reaction to this agent, this is the first one in Korea. We experienced severe anaphylactic shock in a 5-year-old patient after intravenous administration of aprotinin during repeated open heart surgery, which required cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Twenty-two days before the anaphylactic shock, she had been locally exposed to aprotinin during surgery. The skin prick test was positive to aprotinin.

In this study, the spraying effects of unmanned controllers for the efficient control and safe use of pesticides in protected paprika cultivation facilities were reviewed. Whether or not pesticides were deposited and the quantities of active components and pest control effects of the pesticides according to the plant length and locations of paprika were examined. Experimental plots consisting of nine sections (comprising three repetitions of three different experimental chemical treatments) were arranged in a 13,500 m(2) wide test field to conducts experiments with Leveillula taurica, Bemisia tabaci, and Aphis gossypii that occurred in protected paprika cultivation facilities. Deposit degrees following pesticide spraying with unmanned fogging type controllers were measured; according to the results, water-sensitive papers showed a deposit rate of 100% in all experimental plots. With regard to pest control, when Pyrifluquinazon 6.5% SC was sprayed, 93.5% of Bemisia tabaci was controlled and 93.9% of Aphis gossypii was controlled. In the case of Leveillula taurica, diseased leaf rates were examined 7 days after the final treatment with Fluopyram 40% SC; the results showed that, as chemical control effects, diseased leaf rates were 52.2% in untreated plots while being approximately 8.8% in the treated plots, indicating that the control value was at least 83.2%. According to the results of examination of the quantities of active components on the front and rear of the leaves, chemical effects persisted when the quantities of active components on the front and rear of the leaves were on average 1.30 (mu g/50 cm(2)) and 1.05 (mu g/50 cm(2)) respectively, in the case of spraying of Fluopyram 40% SC; when the quantities of active components on the front and rear of the leaves were on average 0.62 (mu g/50 cm(2)), 0.49 (mu g/50 cm(2)), respectively, in the case of spraying of Pyrifluquinazon 6.5% SC; the overall deposit amounts on the front and rear were not considerably different.
