Radial Thickness of Ice Jam in Channel Bends
Yoon, Sei-eui,Lee, Jong-tae Korea Water Resources Association 1990 Korean journal of hydrosciences Vol.1 No.-
The characteristics of radial thickness of ice jam at the center part of channel bends were analyzed briefly in this paper. Jam thickness in channel bends increases both toward the inner bank, and dowmstream. For this study, slope at the jam's underside was assumed to be liner with similarity of radial slope of bed in alluvial bends. Radial slope at the jam's underside in floating ice elements was estimated using the force equilibrium theory in the radial direction. The eqution which can be estimated the radial slope of ice jam was suggested using Falcon and Kennedy's bed layer theory. Experimental data, which were measured at the center part of cross-section in a single 180-degree bend, were compared to the calculated values using the suggested equtions. The result shows that the calcultated values were smaller than the measured ones. Ot is considered that the estimated value of shear stress in the radial direction may be smaller than the actual and two-layer model may be not suibable for alluvial bend flow.
Object-oriented Prototype Framework For Tightly Coupled GIS-based Hydrologic Modeling
Kang, Kwangmin,Rim, Chang-Soo,Yoon, Sei-eui 한국수자원학회 2012 한국수자원학회논문집 Vol.45 No.6
이와 같은 필요성을 설명하기 위해서 객체지향(object-oriented)적인 프로그래밍 기술을 적용한 GHISMO(Geographic and Hydrologic Information System Modeling Objects)라는 수문모형(hydrologic model)을 개발하였다. With the availability of multi-scale hydrologic data in public domain depending on DEM size, there is a need for a modeling framework that is capable of using these data to simulate hydrologic processes at multiple scales for different topographic and climate conditions for distributed hydrologic model. To address this need, an object-oriented approach, called Geographic and Hydrologic Information System Modeling Objects (GHISMO), is developed. Main hydrologic approaches in GHISMO are storage-release for direct runoff and SCS curve number method for infiltration part. This paper presents conceptual and structural framework of storage-release concept including its application to two watersheds will be presented.

Background/Aims: Ischemic colitis has a clinical spectrum ranging from mild reversible colitis to an acute fulminant course. Early and accurate diagnosis is therefore mandatory for a good clinical outcome. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a colonoscopy and histological examination with biopsy in the early and accurate diagnosis of ischemic colitis. Methods: We investigated the clinical characteristics and endoscopic findings with the histopathology of 89 cases of ischemic colitis from October 2002 to August 2012 in a tertiary-care hospital. All patients underwent a colonoscopy with biopsy within a few days of the onset of symptoms, and the histological features from the biopsy specimens were reviewed. In addition, the occurrence of complications by colonoscopy with biopsy was evaluated. Results: The mean age of the patients was 65.8±12.6 years (male:female, 1:2.2). The major combined disorders were hypertension (51.7%), diabetes (31.5%), and arrhythmia (19.1%). The clinical features usually presented with hematochezia (83.1%), abdominal pain (77.5%), and diarrhea (60.7%). The involved patterns were the left colon (56.2%), right colon (39.3%), and pancolon (4.5%). Based on the main histological features of ischemic colitis, including glandular atrophy (67.4%), hemorrhage (61.8%), capillary thrombi (42.7%), and coagulative necrosis of mucosa (29.2%), 67 of the 89 cases (75.3%) could be confirmed with ischemic colitis. There were no serious complications such as bowel perforation or major bleeding following the colonoscopy with biopsy. Conclusions: A colonoscopy with biopsy is beneficial and safe for the early and precise diagnosis of ischemic colitis. (Intest Res 2013;11:100-106)
