Cryogenic measurement of alpha decay in a 4π absorber

<P>We established <I>Q</I> spectroscopy, a novel method for the study of alpha decay, by combining 4π detection scheme with a low-temperature microcalorimeter. A 4π metal absorber guarantees absolute measurement of radioactivity without energy loss in the source and absorber. As a clear demonstration of <I>Q</I> spectroscopy, the <SUP>241</SUP>Am alpha source enclosed by a thin gold foil was measured below 100 mK. Its resulting energy spectrum has two dominant peaks with 10 keV FWHM. The more dominant one corresponds to the complete absorption of the <I>Q</I> value, the total decay energy, and the less dominant one to γ-ray escapes. Consequential one-to-one correspondence with high-energy resolution appears between mixed radioisotopes and peaks in <I>Q</I> spectroscopy, which will simplify procedures of nuclear material analysis.</P>
전분/펙틴/몬모릴로나이트 나노복합 필름의 특성 및 산소 투과도 연구

Na^(+)-MMT로부터 제조한 생분해성 전분/펙틴/몬모릴로나이트 나노복합재료의 기계적 특성, 열적 특성, 그리고 산소 투과성을 연구하였다. XRD와 TEM의 결과로부터 고분자의 삽입으로 인하여 실리케이트 층간 간격이 증가하였으며, 또한 삽입형 전분/펙틴/몬모릴로나이트 나노복합재료임을 확인하였다. 합성된 전분/펙틴/몬모릴로나이트 나노복합재료의 경우 적은 양의 MMT로부터 기계적 특성과 열적 안정성이 우수함을 보였다. 그리고 전분/펙틴/몬모릴로나이트 나노복합재료의 산소 투과성은 고분자 매트릭스에 분산되어 있는 몬모릴로나이트에 의하여 현저히 저하됨을 보여주었다. Mechanical property. thermal property. and oxygen permeability of biodegradable Pectin/Starch-montmorillonite nanocomposite, prepared with Na-MMT, have been studied X-ray diffraction and TEM experiments on polymer/silicate composite samples demonstrated that the intercalation of polymer chains leads to increase in the spacing between silicate layers. In addition, it were found that the intercalated Starch/Pectin/monotmorillonite nanocomposite were prepared. It was found that the addition of only a small amount of clay was enough to improve the thermal stability- and mechanical property of Starch/Pectin/montmorillonite nanocomposite. Oxygen permeability of Starch/Pectin/montmorillonite composite was generally lower than that of pectin/starch.
Rat 를 이용 1-Bromopropane 의 급성 및 아급성 흡입독성 연구

The purpose of this study was to investigate the acute(4 hrs) and repeated-dose(6 hrs a day, 5 days a week, 8 weeks) toxic effects of 1-bromopropane(1-BP) on Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats which were treated by inhalation. The results were as follows ; 1. The median lethal concentration(LC-(50)) was estimated 14,374 ppm(confidence limit 95% ; 13,624∼15,596 ppm) in acute inhalation. Abnormal clinical signs related to the 1-BP were not observed with the acute inhalation dose. Gross findings of necropsy revealed no evidence of specific toxicity related to the 1-BP. 2. By sub-acute inhalation the body weights of male and female were significantly reduced(p$lt;0.001) by the dose of 1,800 ppm compared with control group, while the relative weights of liver were significantly increased(p$lt;0.001) in both sexes. However there were no significant variation in food consumption, urine biochemistry, hematology and blood biochemistry for the exposed rats compared with the control rats. Abnormal clinical signs and gross findings of necropsy related to the 1-BP were not shown. No toxicologic lesions were observed by the histopathological test.

Mechanical properties and gas permeabilities of edible films based on the blends of pectin with starch plasticized with glycerol were investigated. Tensile properties of pectin/starch blend films were changed significantly by the amount of glycerol and the ratio of pectin/starch. Tensile strength and modulus decreased as the content of glycerol increasing. With increasing glycerol content, elongation at break increased. Water absorption of pectin/starch blend films was changed by amount of glycerol but it was relatively little changed by the ratio of pectin/starch. Oxygen permeability of pectin/starch blend films was generally lower than of plastic films.

The ferrimagnetic normal spinel Co_0.1Fe_0.9Cr_2S_4 has been studied using the Mo¨ssbauer effect. Spectra have been collected over the temperature range 12-300 K. The absence of quadrupole splitting above the Ne'el temperature T_N indicates that iron ions occupy only the tetrahedral (A) sites. The isomer shift indicates that the charge stale of a Fe ion is ferrous in character. It is notable that, as the temperature decreases below T_N=178 K, both quadruple splitting and asymmetrical line broadening appear and increase with decreasing temperature, suggesting the appearence of a dynamic Jahn-Teller distortion. The magnetic hyperfine field and quadrupole splitting at 12 K are found lo be 181 kOe and 1.10 ㎜/s, respectively. The Debye temperature is found to be 231 K.

Mechanical properties and gas permeability of biodegradable Pectin/Starchmontmorillonite clay (filler) have been studied. Tensile strength and modulus was increased as the increasing content of montmorillonite. X-ray diffraction was used to assess the periodic distance of the clay layers and transmission electron microscopy was used to to observe the composite morphology. The periodic distance of the stacks was 21.76∼26.12 Å for the processed composites. Thus suggests that the layers of the clay particles have been intercalated. Oxygen permeability of pectin/starch-clay composites was generally lower than that of plastic films.

최근 XML에 관련된 여러 가지 보안기술에 관한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 XML 표준화 단체에서 규정한 XML 전자서명과 XML 암호화 표준 명세서를 준수하는 XML 보안 API를 설계하고 구현한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 시스템은 표준 명세서에서 요구하는 암호 알고리즘 및 국내 표준 암호알고리즘과 공개키 인증서를 처리 할 수 있도록 설계하였다.

메밀채소의 in vitro HMG-CoA reductase 효소의 활성저해 및 흰쥐에 투여시 체내조직의 지질농도를 평가하였다. 메밀채소는 1~15㎝ 길이의 초장으로 재배하여 동결건조하였다. Rutin의 함량은 성장과정 중 크게 변화하지 않았다. 메밀채소의 물추출물은 in vitro HMG-CoA reductase 활성을 150%까지 활성화시켰다. 메밀채소 또는 rutin을 함유하는 콜레스테롤식을 4주간 흰쥐에 자유급식시켰다. 식이 메밀채소 및 rutin은 혈청콜레스테롤 농도를 감소시키는 경향이 있었다. HDL-콜레스테롤과 총 콜레스테롤 농도의 비는 rutin섭취군에서 약간 높았다. 혈청중성지질 농도는 대조군에 비하여 rutin섭취군에서 낮았으며, 메밀채소 투여군은 중간정도의 농도를 나타내었다. 간장콜레스테롤 농도는 메밀채소 투여군에서 현저하게 낮았다. 이러한 결과로 부터 콜레스테롤식을 섭취한 흰쥐에 메밀채소의 투여는 간장 및 혈청의 지질농도의 감소효과가 있음을 보여주며, 더 나아가 메밀채소에 의한 콜레스테롤 저하효과는 적어도 콜레스테롤합성조절에 기인되지는 않은 듯 하다. The effects of dietary buckwheat vegetables on the in vitro HMG-CoA reductase activity and lipids profiles of serum and liver in rats were evaluated. Buckwheat vegetables were cultivated in the range of 1~15㎝ of the plant height and dried. The content of rutin in the dried vegetables did not varied largely with the differences in the height of the vegetables. The water extract from buckwheat vegetables activated in vitro HMG-CoA reductase activity up to 150% of control. Male rats were fed on purified diets, supplemented with 0.12% cholesterol, containing dried buckwheat vegetables(BWV, 5% of diet) or rutin(0.25% of diet). Dietary BWV and rutin, compared with basal diet tended to decrease the concentration of serum cholesterol. The ratio of HDL-cholesterol to total cholesterol were higher slightly in the rutin-fed group than in the other groups. The concentration of serum triacylglycerol was lower markedly in the rutin-fed groups than in the control groups, and BWV group being intermediate. The concentration of liver cholesterol was lower significantly in the BWV group than in the other groups. The results show an effective cholesterol-lowering action of buckwheat vegetables in serum and liver of rats fed on cholesterolemic diets, and that the hypocholesterolemic effects of buckwheat vegetables are not likely to be due to the modulation of the cholesterol synthesis rate.
