The congential fibrosis syndorme is rare congenital disorder which is characterized by blepharoptosis, varying degrees of limitation of eye movement, especially in vertical gaze, and abnormal head position. These clinical findings result from the fibrous replacement of normal contractile extraocular muscle tissue. The authors report one sporadic case of congential fibrosis syndrome. The 14 year-old-girl showed bilateral ptosis, fixed ocular misalignment in downward gaze, limited ductions and versions, and characteristic chin up position. The surgical management attempted to achieve functional readjustment of the ocular alignment and lid position and to correct cosmetically unacceptable abnormal head position. Result of histopathologic examination obtained at surgery shows replacement of the extraocular muscles, conjuctiva and Tenon's capsule by collagen and dense fibrous tissue. The surgical outcome is considered satisfactory when compared with preoperative status although the limitation of vertical eye movement remains unchanged after surgery.

The depressive patients can be divided into two subgroups by presence and absence of pain symptoms. Those without pain symptoms have blunted pain sensitivity whereas those with pain have normal range of pain sensitivity, and are clinically characterized by anxiety and irritability. The aim of the study is to test if these clinical profiles of the depressives with pain symptoms are related with reduced level of brain serotonin(5-HT). Forty four mice were randomly divided into two groups : one group to be bred with tryptophan free diet and the other with normal control diet, each for 4 weeks. Before the beginning of the breeding period, measured were locomotor activity by open field test, anxiety by elevated plus maze and nociceptive sensitivity by tail flick test, before and after forced swimming(FS). During each FS, duration of immobilization was also measured. The sable sets of measurements were repeated at the end of the breeding period. The brain 5-HT and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid(5-HIAA) were measured by high performance liquid chromatography. The results were as follows 1.Four weeks of tryptophan free diet reduced significantly body weight, brain weight, and levels of 5-HT and 5-HIAA in the whole brain. 2.Tryptophan depletion did not influence basal nociceptive sensitivity as measured by tail flick latency before FS. The normal blunting of the pain sensitivity induced by forced swimming was preserved in the tryptophan depleted group. 3.Tryptophan depletion did not influence general locomotor activity in open field. 4.Tryptophan depletion increased significantly time spent on the open arms at the elevated plus maze test done before FS. This anxiolytic-like effect was reduced by FS. 5.Tryptophan depletion did not influence duration of immobilization during FS. From these results, it is suggested that the genesis of the depression with pain symptoms is not medicated by quantitative reduction of brain serotonin

최근 스마트 폰, 스마트 와치 등과 같은 전자기기의 크기가 작아지면서, 그에 사용되는 체결 볼트의 크기 또한 작아지고 있다. 초소형 나사는 제품을 체결하는 데 있어 충분한 체결 토크나 풀림 방지효과를 갖지 못한다. 그래서 초소형 나사의 체결력과 풀림방지 효과를 유지 및 강화하는 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 초소형 나사의 풀림방지 효과를 강화하기 위해 나사의 머리 밑 면에 쎄레이션 형상을 추가하여 그 효과를 분석하였다. 쎄레이션 볼트는 풀림과정에서 피체결체 윗면을 변형시켜 풀림 방지 턱을 생성해 풀림을 방지하는 역할을 한다. 쎄레이션 개수와 체결 깊이를 변수로 하여 그 영향을 분석하고 풀림 방지 성능에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. As the size of electric products such as mobile phones and smart watches decrease, the bolts used to assemble these products should also be miniaturized. A miniature-sized bolt has to provide sufficient joining torque and anti-releasing torque to keep the components together. We studied a serrated bolt as a candidate for a miniature-sized fastener to increase the anti-releasing torque. In a serrated bolt, a serrated shape is formed on the bottom surface of the bolt head to create an obstacle to releasing. In this study, finite element analyses for the joining and releasing of bolts were carried out, and the anti-releasing performance was predicted. Based on the results of analyses using various numbers of serrations and fastening depths, the effects of the number of serrations and fastening depth on the anti-releasing performance were investigated.

<P>The Ultra-fine HAp nanoparticles (spherical protrusion) synthesized onto TiO2 barrier oxide film have been shown to exhibit desirable properties as biocompatible or unusual coating layer. The numerous spherical morphologies depending on progress of anodizing time were gradually appeared to the surface whole area. TiO2 barrier oxide film formed by electrochemical method was composed of characteristics laminated structure including the HAp nanoparticles of 7 similar to 10 nm in diameter. The results of EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) line analysis, the elements existing TiO2 barrier oxide film reveal that molar ratio of Ca/P is about 1.615, which is very closed to the Ca/P molar ratio in Ca-10(PO4)(6)(OH)(2): 1.67. The incorporated phosphate species were found mostly in the forms of HPO4-, PO4-, and PO3-, which were penetrated from the electrolyte into the TiO2 barrier layer during anodic process. After 6 and 8 days of soaking in SBF, the HAp nanoparticles (spherical protrusion) were nearly covered with the granular structures, and displayed more micro-cracks on the surface. The Ca/P atomic ratio of the HAp coating was exactly 1.67, as was expected by stoichiometric composition of HA (Ca-10(PO4)(6)(OH)(2)). Thus, it is clearly suggested that these structures of TiO2 barrier oxide film are all effective for biocompatibility.</P>

<P>The modified surface during implantation is considered to be an effective strategy to improve high adhesion of bone cell and osseointegration activity. In this paper, the TiO2 barrier oxide Layer has been fabricated by using the ion characteristic of an electrolytic solution, the surface characteristics have been investigated by EDS, XPS, and FE-SEM. From the analysis of the chemical states, phosphorus and calcium were observed in the TiO2 barrier layer, which were penetrated from the electrolyte into the oxide layer during deposit process. In addition, Ca 2p spectrum was identified into two peaks for Ca 2p3/2 and 2p1/2 at 347.4 and 351.3 eV, which are related to hydroxyapatite. Also, P spectrum was confirmed into two peaks for P1/2 and P3/2 levels with binding energy 134.2 and 133.4 eV, respectively. Thus, the incorporated phosphate species were found mostly in the forms of HPO4-, PO3-. From the result of biological evaluation in simulated body fluid (SBF), the apatite morphologies were effective for bioactive property on the modified surface.</P>
A power efficient impulse generator for 6‐9 GHz UWB applications

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This article presents a VCO‐based impulse generator, in which all circuit blocks are switched for low power consumption. A switching control pulse generator is employed for adjusting the impulse duration. The drive amplifier can generate triangular‐like impulse with high amount of side‐lobe rejection without any external filter. The experimental results show that the frequency range covers 6.5‐9.3 GHz and 10‐dB bandwidth is tunable from 0.5‐2 GHz, while consuming only 39.6 pJ/pulse at 10 MHz pulse repetition frequency. The impulse generator is fabricated using a 0.13 μm CMOS process and chip size is 1.07 × 1.50 mm<SUP>2</SUP> including ESD pads.</P>
