For the environmental safety of the operating room and patient healthcare, the closed type rebreathing system is widely adopted. In order to reduce the anesthesia gas during surgery, the mixing ratio of anesthesia gas with breathing air should be precisely controlled. Generally, the breathing air passes through the vaporizer to mix the anesthesia gas, but there is a difficulty in controlling the mixing ratio precisely. In this paper, the stand-alone style vaporizer is designed and the operating characteristics are investigated. The vaporizer measures the temperature and pressure in the vaporizing chamber and chamber temperature is precisely controlled by proportional controlled heater. Exact quantity of anesthesia media is feeded by PID controlled peristaltic pump and vaporized gas is mixed with breathing air flow by PWM controlled solenoid valve. The experimental result shows that the vaporizer has an excellent command following performances that it can be applied to the low flow anesthesia system.

This paper studies the problem of determining the optimal standard product sizes minimizing the loss function, which is composed of demand distribution and preference functions. The customer who wants to buy the product of size x in the range x_(i-x)<x<x_i may purchase the product of size u_i. Size u_i represents the standard product size which covers the interval (x_(i-1), x_i). Purchasing desire decreases as the difference between a customer's requirement(x) and the standard product size(u_i) increases. The standard product sizes u_i and the range limits x_i can be determined so as to minimize the loss function.

Carbonized rice hull, perlite, and vermiculite were mixed and investigated for the probability of tobacco transplant production by means of plug and transfer float system. These seedling bed materials in condition of float system have gaseous phase ranged from 6% to 13% showing a proper growth of tobacco seedling. However compost media mixed with soil, sand, and compost in condition of float system led to the shortage of respiration in root system by very low proportion of gaseous phase skewing a wicked growth of seedling. Absorption of heat by floating water for the daytime increased rhizosphere temperature in condition of float system during the night and low temperature season resulting in better growth of tobacco seedling. Consequently transplant production of tobacco seedling by float system with mixed materials of carbonized rice hull, perlite, and vermiculite was thought to be desirable method for manufacturing production system of transplant considering the effective management of water, nutrients, and temperature of seedling bed materials.

A number of gasification technologies of waste are proposed as an alternative technology to conventional Waste-to-Energy plants. Waste-to-Energy plants based on gasification are high efficiency power plants. The waste gasification process converts waste to a usable synthesis gas, or syngas which contains carbon monoxide, hydrogen and methane. The syngas can be turned into heat, electricity, chemicals, and even transportation fuels. The composition and performance of syngas formed during solid refuse fuel(SRF) gasification depend on the type of SRF, equivalence ratio(ER), operating temperature, operating pressure, the type of oxidants and waste residence time. Recently, many studies have been conducted to predict process variables and performance using data mining techniques in industrial plant system. The present study aimed to develop estimation model of syngas composition. This preliminary study investigated data mining-based methods to assess and predict the concentrations of hydrogen and carbon monoxide in syngas of SRF gasification in a downdraft gasifier with a two-stage air supply. The effect of operating temperature is a key to syngas composition during SRF gasification. Then, the operating temperature was used as variable of the syngas composition estimation model. As a result, the case of hydrogen was shown more reasonable estimation results than carbon monoxide.
A Study on Methanol Synthesis from Syngas Produced via Waste Gasification

A system which is composed of waste pressing, waste gasification, syngas cleaning, syngas reforming and methanol conversion processes, was constructed to convert syngas produced by waste gasification into methanol. The methanol synthesis process system is composed of syngas compressor, heat exchanger, pre-heater, methanol synthesis reactor, condenser and steam boiler. In this study, the effect of H<sub>2</sub>/Co ratio on the methanol yield was investigated. The commercial Cu-based catalyst was used in this study. The methanol yield was increased with increasing H<sub>2</sub>/CO ratio in the syngas under the following operational condition: reaction temperature 240-260℃, reaction pressure 50-60 bar.

To investigate the adverse effects of clozapine on cardiovascular ion channels, we examined the inhibitory effect of clozapine on voltage-dependent K<sup>+</sup> (Kv) channels in rabbit coronary arterial smooth muscle cells. Clozapine-induced inhibition of Kv channels occurred in a concentration-dependent manner with an half-inhibitory concentration value of 7.84 ± 4.86 µM and a Hill coefficient of 0.47 ± 0.06. Clozapine did not shift the steady-state activation or inactivation curves, suggesting that it inhibited Kv channels regardless of gating properties. Application of train pulses (1 and 2 Hz) progressively augmented the clozapine-induced inhibition of Kv channels in the presence of the drug. Furthermore, the recovery time constant from inactivation was increased in the presence of clozapine, suggesting that clozapine-induced inhibition of Kv channels is use (state)-dependent. Pretreatment of a Kv1.5 subtype inhibitor decreased the Kv current amplitudes, but additional application of clozapine did not further inhibit the Kv current. Pretreatment with Kv2.1 or Kv7 subtype inhibitors partially blocked the inhibitory effect of clozapine. Based on these results, we conclude that clozapine inhibits arterial Kv channels in a concentration-and use (state)-dependent manner. Kv1.5 is the major subtype involved in clozapine-induced inhibition of Kv channels, and Kv2.1 and Kv7 subtypes are partially involved.
First Report of Pectobacterium brasiliense Causing Soft Rot on Graft Cactus in Korea

The graft cactus (<i>Gymnocalycium mihanovichii</i>) continues to be exported to more than 20 countries worldwide. In April 2021, typical bacterial symptoms of soft rot were observed in the graft cactus (cv. Yeonbit) in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, resulting in economic losses in cactus production. The stems turned dark brown and the flowers were covered with black rot. The bacterial strain designated as KNUB-01-21 was isolated from infected stems and flowers. The results of the morphological and biochemical tests of the isolate were similar to those of <i>Pectobacterium brasiliense</i>. For molecular analysis, the 16S rRNA region and three housekeeping genes (<i>dnaX, leuS</i>, and <i>recA</i>) of the strain KNUB-01-21 were amplified. Based on the results of the molecular analysis and morphological and biochemical tests, KNUB-01-21 was identified as <i>P. brasiliense</i>. The pathogenicity of KNUB-01-21 on graft cactus was confirmed by an inoculation test. Artificial inoculation using <i>P. brasiliense</i> KNUB-01-21 produced soft rot symptoms on the grafted cactus, and the same bacterium was re-isolated and re-identified. This is the first report of <i>P. brasiliense</i> causing soft rot in graft cactus in Korea.
