Seismic Coefficients and Earthquake Damage Predictions for a Space Truss with a Supporting Structure

Previous studies have shown that when the lower support structure is considered, the dynamic characteristics of grid structures change signifi cantly, and the stress distributions are also noticeably diff erent. Therefore, this paper discusses whether other simple and feasible structural seismic damage prediction methods could be proposed after accounting for the infl uence of the lower supporting structure. Considering diff erent site types and diff erent intensities, a time-history analysis was conducted using the mode decomposition response spectrum method for frequent 8- and 9-degree earthquake intensity. Then, the acceleration response spectra for diff erent sites experiencing 8- and 9-degree intensity of frequently occurring earthquakes specifi ed in the Code for Seismic Design of Buildings (GB50011-2010) were used to calculate and discuss the distribution law for the seismic internal forces of space truss structures. Based on the calculation conclusion, the design method and damage prediction method for a plate-like space truss structure under earthquake actions are discussed. Then, a new value of the seismic action coeffi cient was proposed in this paper, and the ground motion peaks for various types of earthquake damage for diff erent site types were obtained using the functional relationship.

<P>Brain connectivity network derived from functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is becoming increasingly prevalent in the researches related to cognitive and perceptual processes. The capability to detect causal or effective connectivity is highly desirable for understanding the cooperative nature of brain network, particularly when the ultimate goal is to obtain good performance of control-patient classification with biological meaningful interpretations. Understanding directed functional interactions between brain regions via brain connectivity network is a challenging task. Since many genetic and biomedical networks are intrinsically sparse, incorporating sparsity property into connectivity modeling can make the derived models more biologically plausible. Accordingly, we propose an effective connectivity modeling of resting-state fMRI data based on the multivariate autoregressive (MAR) modeling technique, which is widely used to characterize temporal information of dynamic systems. This MAR modeling technique allows for the identification of effective connectivity using the Granger causality concept and reducing the spurious causality connectivity in assessment of directed functional interaction from fMRI data. A forward orthogonal least squares (OLS) regression algorithm is further used to construct a sparse MAR model. By applying the proposed modeling to mild cognitive impairment (MCI) classification, we identify several most discriminative regions, including middle cingulate gyrus, posterior cingulate gyrus, lingual gyrus and caudate regions, in line with results reported in previous findings. A relatively high classification accuracy of 91.89 % is also achieved, with an increment of 5.4 % compared to the fully-connected, non-directional Pearson-correlation-based functional connectivity approach.</P>
ELECTRIC-HYDRAULIC COMPOUND CONTROL ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM

An anti-lock control strategy for electric-hydraulic compound braking is proposed to improve the emergency braking safety of a hub motor electric vehicle. Based on the half-vehicle braking longitudinal dynamics model, the optimal control is solved to obtain the total braking torque corresponding to each wheel. A fuzzy algorithm is used to determine the proportion coefficient of the motor based on the battery state of charge coefficient (SOC) and the motor speed constraints on the motor braking, and the total braking torque is distributed. The hydraulic and motor braking torques obtained from the allocation are input as reference values to the electric-hydraulic compound braking system, and the output braking torque is fed back into the CarSim vehicle model. The proposed electric-hydraulic compound ABS control strategy is also validated in the co-simulation of CarSim and MATLAB/Simulink on high, medium and low adhesion road surfaces.

The phytophagous mite is highly polyphagous and widespread in warmer regions and greenhouses around the world, and so the focus of novel acaricides is shifting towards more effective, ecofriendly new chemical entity with unique modes of action. In this study, eighteen spirobutyrolactones derived from natural tetronic acid have been synthesized and their acaricidal activities against Tetranychus cinnabarinus were investigated by slide-dip method. The results of preliminary bioassay indicate that some of these compounds exhibited promising acaricidal activities, especially, compounds 6 and 18 show significant activities against T. cinnabarinus than the commercial spirodiclofen 1 (27.37% mortality), and which present 58.55% and 82.24% mortality at tested dose, respectively. The relationship between structure and acaricidal activity was also discussed based on the experimental data, and which indicate that the compounds (16, 17 and 18) with non-substituted phenyl ring (R1=H) show obviously better activities. Especially, we also can find that substituted benzoyl unit will help to increase the activity than substituted phenylacetyl group.

Twenty spirodiclofen analogues have been designed and conveniently synthesized via three steps including esterification,one-pot heterocyclization, and acylation reactions. The target molecules have been identified on the basis of analytical spectra (1H NMR, 13C NMR and ESI-MS) data. All newly synthesized compounds have been screened for their potential insecticidal and herbicidal activity by standard method. The preliminary assays indicated that some of analogues displayed moderate to good insecticidal activity against Plutella xylostella compared with spirodiclofen,and some compounds showed obvious activity against Brassica chinensis. Structure-activity relationship (SAR) is also discussed based on the experimental data.

A noninsecticidal strain, Bacillus thuringiensis NTB-88, isolated from Korean soil, had a typical bipyramidal parasporal inclusion and its serotype is identical to B. thuringiensis subsp. Morrisoni(H8a8b). To elucidate differences between insecticidal and noninsecticidal strains, we compared strain NTB-88 to other toxic B. thuringiensis subsp. morrisoni strains (HD-12 and PG-14). Restriction endonucleases digested plasmid DNA patterns showed that strain NTB-88 was different from lepidopteran-toxic strain, HD-12, but it was similar to dipteran-toxic strain, PG-14. The gene type of strain NTB-88 was different from those of other insecticidal strains. Furthermore, the NH2-terminal amino acid sequence of crystal protein of strain NTB-88 had no relation to those of the previously known δ-endotoxins in other toxic strains as well as HD-l2 and PG-14 strains. Therefore, the noninsecticidal crystal protein in strain NTB-88 is novel and its property is different from insecticidal ones.
