      • Predicting the splitting tensile strength of concrete using an equilibrium optimization model

Yinghao Zhao,Xiaolin Zhong,Loke Kok Foong 국제구조공학회 2021 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.39 No.1

Splitting tensile strength (STS) is an important mechanical parameter of concrete. This study offers novel methodologies for the early prediction of this parameter. Artificial neural network (ANN), which is a leading predictive method, is synthesized with two metaheuristic algorithms, namely atom search optimization (ASO) and equilibrium optimizer (EO) to achieve an optimal tuning of the weights and biases. The models are applied to data collected from the published literature. The sensitivity of the ASO and EO to the population size is first investigated, and then, proper configurations of the ASO-NN and EO-NN are compared to the conventional ANN. Evaluating the prediction results revealed the excellent efficiency of EO in optimizing the ANN. Accuracy improvements attained by this algorithm were 13.26 and 11.41% in terms of root mean square error and mean absolute error, respectively. Moreover, it raised the correlation from 0.89958 to 0.92722. This is while the results of the conventional ANN were slightly better than ASO-NN. The EO was also a faster optimizer than ASO. Based on these findings, the combination of the ANN and EO can be an efficient non-destructive tool for predicting the STS.

Microbial diversity in the rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum of yak on a rapid fattening regime in an agro-pastoral transition zone

        Dan Xue,Huai Chen,Xiaolin Luo,Jiuqiang Guan,Yixin He,Xinquan Zhao 한국미생물학회 2018 The journal of microbiology Vol.56 No.10

The ruminant digestive system harbors a complex gut microbiome, which is poorly understood in the case of the four stomach compartments of yak. High-throughput sequencing and quantitative PCR were used to analyse microbial communities in the rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum of six domesticated yak. The diversity of prokaryotes was higher in reticulum and omasum than in rumen and abomasum. Bacteroidetes predominated in the four stomach compartments, with abundance gradually decreasing in the trend rumen > reticulum > omasum > abomasum. Microorganism composition was different among the four compartments, all of which contained high levels of bacteria, methanogens, protozoa and anaerobic fungi. Some prokaryotic genera were associated with volatile fatty acids and pH. This study provides the first insights into the microorganism composition of four stomach compartments in yak, and may provide a foundation for future studies in this area.

      • Analyses of Quantitative Precipitation Estimation (QPE)Based on erging Satellite and Rain Gauge

        QI Dan,TIAN Fuyou,Zhao Xiaolin 한국기상학회 2011 한국기상학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.2011 No.10-2

Satellite precipitation estimates are widely used to measure global rainfall on monthly, daily, and hourly timescales for studies. Near real-time satellite precipitation estimates are becoming increasingly available to the wider community. These precipitation estimates are potentially very useful for applications such as numerical weather prediction (NWP) data assimilation, now casting and flash flood warning, tropical rainfall potential, and water resources monitoring, etc. As with any observational data, it is important to understand their accuracy and limitations. This is done by verifying the satellite precipitation estimates against independent data from rain gauges. The terms evaluate and verify are used here to mean "to determine or test the truth or accuracy of the QPE (Quantitative Precipitation Estimation) product" (John E.1999) High resolution rainfall distribution map can be derived from satellite observation, and rain gauges data can give us accurate rainfall measurements at a fixed location .Combined them together, the merging of satellite precipitation estimates and rain gauge measurement is to "calibrate" satellite precipitation estimation with ground observation, so that a more accurate rainfall field can be drawn. In this paper, we use a intellective objective analysis scheme which is brought forward by LU nai-meng (2004) to accomplish the merging or called "fusing". In this study, the satellite precipitation estimation data we used to fusing is from the National Satellite Meteorological Center (NSMC) which resolution is 0.1 degree. The rain gauge data is from the National Meteorological Information Center (NMIC). Based on the hourly and daily rain gauge precipitation observations of over 30000 rain gauges and the satellite precipitation estimation products, a real-time merging system to get the QPE product is established. At last we have done a series of evaluate and verify job to test the accuracy of the QPE products.

Association of Mahogany/Attractin Gene (ATRN) with Porcine Growth and Fat

Kim, Jong Bok,Zeng, Zhao Xun,Nam, Yu Jin,Kim, Younyoung,Yang, Shi Liu,Wu, Xiaolin,Lee, Chaeyoung Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2005 Animal Bioscience Vol.18 No.10

Associations of restriction fragment length polymorphism in porcine attractin (ATRN) gene with average daily gain (ADG), live weight (LWT) and back fat thickness (BFT) were studied with one exotic composition population (Xianghuang) and three local breeds (Ningxing, Shaziling and Daweizi) in China. Two types of alleles were detected; one with the band size of 700 bp (A) and the other with the band size of 450 and 250 bp (B), and their genotypes were classified as AA, AB and BB. Polymorphisms were observed in the exotic breed, but not in the three local breeds. Individuals with the genotype BB showed larger ADG and LWT than those with AA in Xianghuang population (p<0.05). The breed specific effects of the porcine attractin gene in this study implied that identification of the polymorphisms and determination of genetic effects on phenotypes should be performed in the target populations.

Gut Microbiota Community and Its Assembly Associated with Age and Diet in Chinese Centenarians

( Fang Wang ),( Ting Yu ),( Guo Hong Huang ),( Da Cai ),( Xiaolin Liang ),( Hai Yan Su ),( Zhenjun Zhu ),( Danlei Li ),( Yang Yang ),( Pei Hong Shen ),( Rui Feng Mao ),( Lian Yu ),( Mou Ming Zhao ),( 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2015 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.25 No.8

Increasing evidence suggests that gut microbiota underpin the development of health and longevity. However, our understanding of what influences the composition of this community of the longevous has not been adequately described. Therefore, illumina sequencing analysis was performed on the gut microbiota of centenarians (aged 100-108 years; RC) and younger elderlies (aged 85-99 years; RE) living in Bama County, Guangxi, China and the elderlies (aged 80-92 years; CE) living in Nanning City, Guangxi, China. In addition, their diet was monitored using a semiquantitative dietary questionary (FFQ 23). The results revealed the abundance of Roseburia and Escherichia was significantly greater, whereas that of Lactobacillus, Faecalibacterium, Parabacteroides, Butyricimonas, Coprococcus, Megamonas, Mitsuokella, Sutterella, and Akkermansia was significantly less in centenarians at the genus level. Both clustering analysis and UniFraq distance analysis showed structural segregation with age and diet among the three populations. Using partial least square discriminate analysis and redundancy analysis, we identified 33 and 34 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) as key OTUs that were significantly associated with age and diet, respectively. Age-related OTUs were characterized as Ruminococcaceae, Clostridiaceae, and Lachnospiraceae, and the former two were increased in the centenarians; diet-related OTUs were classified as Bacteroidales, Lachnospiraceae, and Ruminococcaceae. The former two were deceased, whereas the later one was increased, in the high-fiber diet. The age and high-fiber diet were concomitant with changes in the gut microbiota of centenarians, suggesting that age and high-fiber diet can establish a new structurally balanced architecture of gut microbiota that may benefit the health of centenarians.

A Complex Reinforced Polymer Interposer with Ordered Ni Grid and SiC Nano-whiskers Polyimide Composite Based on Micromachining Technology

        Yanmei Liu,Yunna Sun,Yan Wang,Guifu Ding,Bin Sun,Xiaolin Zhao 대한금속·재료학회 2017 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.13 No.1

A complex reinforced polymer interposer comprised with conductive Nicylinders, ordered Ni grid and SiC nano-whiskers/Polyimide (PI)composite was proposed. The conductive Ni cylinders distributing in themiddle of each Ni grid unite designed as the supporting structure wereused as electric connecting component for the interposer and wereinsulated by the SiC nano-whiskers/PI composite. The comprehensiveproperties of the complex reinforced polymer interposer were improvedby a complex reinforced mechanism: the improved thermal conductivityand mechanical strength by the Ni supporting structure and the reducedmetal/polymer interfacial mismatch due to the SiC nano-whiskers/PIcomposite with the optimized mixture ratio. The above complexreinforced polymer interposer and a traditional reinforced polymerinterposer only with Ni grid were fabricated using micro-machiningtechnology for comparative analysis. The comprehensive properties ofthese two polymer interposers were analyzed respectively. Comparedwith the traditional design, the comprehensive properties of the proposedcomplex reinforced polymer interposer were improved further, such as,21.3% increase for the Young modulus, 10.1% decrease for thecoefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and 54.9% increase for thethermal conductivity. Such complex reinforced mechanism based on themetal ordered grid and random nano-whiskers has potential to expandthe applications of the polymer interposer.
