BiFeO3 Thickness Dependence of the Exchange Bias in Polycrystalline BiFeO3/NiFe Bilayers

A clear exchange bias has been observed at room temperature in a series of BiFeO3(t)/NiFe(3.6nm) bilayers, in which the BiFeO3 layers are single-phase polycrystalline with t varied from 8 nmto 240 nm. With increasing t, both the exchange bias field (HE) and the coercivity (HC) increasesharply and approach maxima when t is about 40 nm, which is close to one half the spin cycloidalmodulation period (64 nm) of the bulk BiFeO3 material. The oscillatory variations of HE and HCwith the BiFeO3 layer thickness suggest that the cycloidal spin structure may exist in polycrystallineBiFeO3 thin films. The angular dependence of the exchange bias exhibits collinear unidirectionaland uniaxial anisotropies in the present BiFeO3/NiFe bilayers.
Modeling and analysis of a rotational piezoelectric energy harvester with limiters

A rotational piezoelectric energy harvester has the ability to convert rotation mechanical energy into electric power. The piezoelectric harvester with cantilever based on gravity excitation has received great attention. Given that gravity excitation is greater than conventional vibration excitation, and large mass are often used in low-frequency applications, large amplitudes pose a significant threat to the life of a harvester. In this study, a rotational energy harvester with limiters is investigated to promote practical development. This study establishes a theoretical model verified by experiments. Results show that stiffness has little influence on the limiting effect. In the experimental conditions, the output after 2000 N/m is basically the same. The peak value of the output voltage is linearly proportional to the space. Given that an impact excitation is generated in the collision, the limiter widens the frequency band of the output in the upsweep.
Ga Content and Thickness Inhomogeneity Effects on Cu(In, Ga)Se2 Solar Modules

The fluctuation of Ga content and absorption layer thickness of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar modules is investigated by 3-dimensional numericalsimulation. The band gap of CIGS is increased by the increasing Gacontent, and the residual compressive strain. Strain effect worsens thedegradation of the power conversion efficiency of CIGS module in additionto Ga fluctuation. The intracell Ga fluctuation degrades the open circuitvoltage due to the minimum open circuit voltage in the parallelconfiguration, and also affects the short circuit current due to the Gadependentlight absorption. The intercell Ga fluctuation leads to a moresignificant degradation for CIGS solar module efficiency than the intracellGa fluctuation due to the additional degradation of the fill factor. Thethickness fluctuation has a small effect on open circuit voltage, but causesstrong degradation of short circuit current and fill factor, which leads to amore significant degradation on power conversion efficiency than Gafluctuation to the same fluctuation percentage. In reality, the thickness canbe tightly controlled within the fluctuation of 5% or less.
Distributed Fuzzy Extended Kalman Filter for Multiagent Systems

In this study, a novel distributed Kalman filter based on a possibilistic framework was proposed to mitigate fuzzy noisein nonlinear multiagent systems. To describe fuzzy uncertainty, noises were modeled as fuzzy random variables with trapezoidal probability distributions instead of Gaussian distributions. A fuzzy information fusion (FIF) algorithm was proposed to fuse fuzzy state estimations from neighboring nodes. The nonlinear problem was solved by using local linearization. A distributed extended fuzzy information filter was designed by combining the FIF algorithm and local linearization in distributed sensor networks. The stability of this filter was analyzed. Finally, a target tracking simulation was performed to detail the effectiveness of the proposed filter algorithm.

Si 4+ and Eu 3+ co-doped LiZnPO 4 phosphors (LZPS:Eu 3+ ) with red luminescence were prepared by high temperature solidstate reaction. The maximum photoluminescence intensity is achieved at the Eu 3+ content of 12% (molar concentration). The study also investigated the effect on luminescent properties of LiZnPO 4 :Eu 3+ by the introduction of Si 4+ into the host to substitute P 5+ . The Eu 3+ emission intensity at 592 nm and 612 nm is enhanced by 105% and 108%, respectively. Decreasing the amount of Eu 3+ signifi cantly reduces the raw material costs. The phosphor is efficiently excited under 395 nm and 254 nm ultraviolet radiation, and is used as the red component in white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) or fluorescent lamps. The excitation spectra consist of a broad band extending 200–280 nm and a series of sharp peaks extending 310–500 nm, centered at 395 nm, which corresponds to the charge transfer band of O 2− → Eu 3+ and the f → f transition of Eu 3+ , respectively. The study applies this distinctly bright phosphor in the detection and imaging of lipid fingermarks on common non-porous and semi-porous substrates such as colored paper, glass, porcelain, and leather, etc. All results indicate that the LZPS:Eu 3+ phosphor is an ideal detection powder for background interference reduction due to its high fluorescence brightness which offers high contrast images, which is applicable to the development of fi ngermarks on the common non-porous and semiporous substrates.
Mating flight causes genome-wide transcriptional changes in sexually mature honeybee queens

In this study, we analyzed the gene and miRNA expression differences between the courted virgin queen (CVQ) and non-courted virgin queen (NCVQ) of Apis mellifera using a high-throughput sequencing method. Through Digital Gene Expression (DGE) sequencing, 452 genes were differentially expressed, out of which, 90 genes were up-regulated and 362 genes were down-regulated in CVQ compared with NCVQ. Through small RNA sequencing, 27 miRNAs showed significant expression difference between these two samples. Moreover, 9 of the differentially expressed genes are the targets of the 11 differentially expressed miRNAs. Besides, 47 novel miRNA candidates were predicted in these two samples. Our results provided valuable information for understanding the molecular mechanism of the transition to functional queens.
Multi‑DoF wireless power transfer systems based on magnetic dipole coils with multiple receivers

To improve the degree of freedom (DoF), and the multi-terminal power supply capability of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems, multi-DoF WPT systems for multiple pickups based on magnetic dipole coils are proposed in this paper, which can simultaneously charge multiple receivers regardless of the position degree. First, the equivalent circuit model of the magnetic dipole coils is provided. The critical factors of the proposed multi-load systems are analyzed, such as transfer efficiency, power distribution, and optimal load. Second, a multi-load wireless power transfer system with equal transmitting (TX) and receiving (RX) coil is designed, and the misalignment tolerance of lateral and rotating occasions for the RX coils is discussed. In particular, a multi-load WPT system with miniaturized step-laminated receivers is implemented based on the magnetic dipole coils. Finally, experimental prototypes are established. The obtained results indicate that the output power for the equal dual-load WPT system can reach more than 78 W with a total efficiency of more than 80% under a transfer distance of length of the receiving coil winding. In addition, the output power of the non-equal four-load WPT system can reach 30 W with a total efficiency of 86%. The proposed systems provide practical guidance for the future development of multi-DoF WPT systems for use in portable devices, unmanned intelligent systems, and smart household applications.
Multistage Pulse Jamming Suppression Algorithm for Satellite Navigation Receiver

A novel multistage pulse jamming suppression algorithm was proposed to solve the anti-pulse jammingproblem encountered in navigation receivers. Based on the characteristics of the short duration of pulsejamming and distribution characteristics of satellite signals, the pulse jamming detection threshold was derived. From the experiments, it was found that the randomness of pulse jamming affects jamming suppression. Onthis basis, the principle of the multistage anti-pulse jamming algorithm was established. The effectiveness ofthe anti-jamming algorithm was verified through experiments. The characteristics of the algorithm includesimple determination of jamming detection threshold, easy programming, and complete suppression of pulsejamming.
