        한국 국립공원 산림생태계의 수목 탄소저장량 평가

        The purpose of this study is to quantitatively evaluate the amount of carbon storage for trees in forest ecosystem to support the foundation for carbon neutrality implementation in Korea National Park. It targeted 22 national parks designated and managed as national parks in Korea, and conducted research on forest trees in the terrestrial ecosystem among various natural and ecological carbon sink. The survey and analysis method followed the IPCC guidelines and the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory in Korea. The amount of tree carbon storage in the forest ecosystem of Korea National Park was confirmed to be about 218,505 thousand CO<sub>2</sub>-ton and the amount of carbon storage per unit area was 570.8 CO<sub>2</sub>-ton per hectare. Compared to 299.7 CO<sub>2</sub>-ton per hectare, the average carbon storage per unit area of the entire Korean forest, it was found that about twice as much carbon was stored when assuming the same area. In other words, it means that the tree carbon storage function of the national park is about twice as high as that of the average tree carbon storage function of entire Korean forest. It has great implications in Korea National Park not only provides biodiversity promotion and exploration services as a national protected area, but also performs excellent functions as a carbon sink.

        Event Mean Concentrations (EMCs) and First Flush Characteristics of Runoff from a Public Park in Korea

        Characteristics of non-point source (NPS) pollution runoff from a public park in Gwangju, Korea were investigated. Results exhibited the highest pollutant concentrations at the start of the rainfall events due to their build-up and wash off processes. The average event mean concentrations (EMCs) were 27.8, 7.2, 56.3, 7.5, and 0.84 mg/L (range: 4.2-54.8 mg/L) for COD, (0.5-20.8 mg/L) for TOC, (22.3-138.4) for SS, (1.4-18.5 mg/L) for T-N, and (0.17-2.02 mg/L) for T-P, respectively. The study site presented a strong first flush effect for most rainfall events. However, no first flush effect was observed in rainfall events with small rainfall factors (e.g. intensity, amount, and runoff depth). On the other hand, the ratios of total pollution loads discharged by the first 20% of runoff volume were 32% for COD, 34% for TOC, 36% for SS, 42% for T-N, and 50% for T-P. Especially, $MFF_{20}$ (mass first flush) values of T-N and T-P were larger than those of other pollutants (COD, TOC, SS), indicating that T-N and T-P are easily transported by stormwater runoff from the public park. First flush management of T-N and T-P, therefore, is required for efficient water quality management of the public park.

      • Linear Combination Analysis Using GPS Data

        We can process and compute the position, velocity and time by satellite signals of GPS. The signals are used to compute positioning of three dimensions and timing offset of the receiver clock when we can track the tour satellite signals at least. One of the specified aims is to use less expensive single frequency code/carrier phase GPS receivers, which are typically around half the price of dual frequency receivers. In the study, the author analyzed the accuracy and applicability of frequence linear combination using triangulation points evaluated distance limitation.

      • Accuracy on the Edge Detection of Topography for Digital Map Manufacture

        Currently, digital maps in the metropolitan area are supposed to be revised and renewed every two years, but it is difficulty for the renewal of current information to keep pace with the quickly changing society and so, one of the alternative methods being discussed is a digital map produced using high resolution satellites. The biggest problem in the production of digital maps using high resolution satellite images is the difficulty of production in vector resource format through edge detection of satellite images, a Raster data. In this study, topographical boundaries were detected through edge detection of the satellite image, and after vectorliezing using the screen digitizing method, the results were evaluated and compared to the digital map from the NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) for accuracy.

      • Variation of Bird community and Habitat use after Developing Hangang river Ecological Learning Center

        The Hangang (Han River) Ecological Learning Center is a river ecosystem park which was completed in December of 2002. The river ecosystem park was created based on the understanding of the problems of standard park-formed river which centers around convenient facilities instead of on the wish to accentuate the innate unique characteristics of a river. Therefore, the study was conducted in order to analyze the changes and habitation usage of the avifauna in the Hangang Ecological Learning Center to provide basic information for the improvement of bird species diversity in an ecosystem park. The study was conducted in July and October of both 2003 and 2005 to study the avian colonies of the same time period, and the habitat usage of four different areas were examined. Main dominant species includes species which preferred waterside and grassland, and 2005 showed higher levels of species, bird count and number of migratory birds. Furthermore, among the four regions used as habitats, the confluence region showed the highest level of increase, and this is predicted to have caused by the shallow depth of the confluence and the stability of the waterside plant colonies.

        초등학생의 식습관과 영양지식 및 건강상태 조사

        This study was conducted to investigate the food habit, nutrition knowledge and health status of elementary school students in Kyung-buk area. As for dietary pattern, 65.8% of students ate breakfast and 82.9% ate dinner on a dally basis. Their main dish for the meal was boiled rice with soup and this combination accounted for 60.3% of the breakfast items and 67.8% of the dinner items. Students in both rural and urban areas had dinner more regularly than breakfast. Overall knowledge on nutrition was 7.31 points out of 10. Urban students earned 7.33 while rural students did 7.29. Out of the maximum of 20 points, the overall grades on physical health were 15.57. (15.44 in rural areas and 15.70 in urban areas) As a result of their spiritual health condition, rural children recorded 6.63 point and urban children recorded 6.81 point on a 10 point scale. Furthermore, 32.8% of the children of the respondents had spiritual awareness phenomenon. The better the understanding of nutrition, the sounder mind and physical health stemed from the good dietary habits. Also the data showed that relatively young parents had better dietary habits than the older ones.

      • 교량의 실시간 거동 모니터링을 위한 GPS의 적용

        Real Time Kinematic GPS will allow a multitude of monitoring, navigation and engineering applications. Applications inclued real time deformation and movement monitoring and real time automated plant control. In a low dynamic environment, with a short baseline length, it is possible to position a roving receiver to an approximate accuracy of less than 5mm within a few seconds of thestart of the ambiguity. One Engineering application is the monitoring of the movement of cable suspension bridges. Such structures are capable of movements of up to a few meters under adverse wind conditions or heavy traffic loads. The use of relative OTF positioing at strategic points upon the bridge would allow close monitoring of the bridge's movements and calculate deformation and long-term deterioration factors for the bridge. Future bridge designs and traffic management schemes could also benefit from the monitoring system.

      • 메치실린 내성 황색포도알균의 신속한 검출을 위한 multiplex PCR

        Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a common cause of nosocomial infections as well as community acquired infections. The rapid identification of MRSA is very important for the appropriate antibiotic therapy, and MRSA must be differentiated from coagulase-negative staphylococci, which may be members of normal microbial flora. However, the conventional phenotypic methods for MRSA detection often lack sensitivity, because of the hetrogeneous expression of methicillin resistance and the dependence of resistance expression on the test conditions. In this study, we developed a multiplex PCR (MPCR) assay for rapid and accurate detection of MRSA. Two pairs of primers were used, which yielded two PCR products. One PCR product is a 310-bp mecA-based PCR fragment specific for methicllin resistance, and the other is a 108-bp S. aureus-specific DNA fragment. The multiplex PCR developed in this study showed excellent specificity and sensitivity for MRSA detection. When three methods for DNA extraction from MRSA were compared, lysostaphin methods and bead beating methods were more efficient than the heating methods. Therefore, the MPCR using two pairs of primers is thought to be a very sensitive and specific tool for rapid detection of MRSA, especially when the DNA of MRSA is extracted by bead beating method.

      • 메치실린 내성 포도상구균에 대한 SK-302의 시험관내 및 생체내 효과

        SK-302 is the active compound purified from culture filtrate of a streptomyces species (streptomyces sp. 302). The in vitro and in vivo antibacterial activities of SK-302 were evaluated against 6 clinically isolated MRSA strains and compared with the activities of vancomycin. SK-302 had node in virto antistaphylocoal activity stronger than that of vancomycin exhibiting MIC's, while vancomycin showed very weak 4 to 8fold lower than that of vancomycin. In SK-302 showed killing activity at the MIC, so SK-302 was superior to vancomycin. Furthermore, in acute systemic infections in mice, the ED_50s of SK-302 against infections by high-resistance MRSA were 30 to 40-feold less than that of vancomycin, therefore SK-302 showed potent in vive therapeutic efficacy against MRSA infection, These results suggest that SK-302 has excellent in virto in and in vivo activities against high-resistance MRSA.
