Clinical outcome of fiducial-less CyberKnife radiosurgery for stage I non-small cell lung cancer

Purpose: To evaluate the treatment results in early stage non-small cell lung cancer patients who have undergone fiducial-less CyberKnife radiosurgery (CKRS). Materials and Methods: From June 2011 to November 2013, 58 patients underwent CKRS at Asan Medical Center for stage I lung cancer. After excluding 14 patients, we retrospectively reviewed the records of the remaining 44 patients. All analyses were performed using SPSS ver. 21. Results: The median age at diagnosis was 75 years. Most patients had inoperable primary lung cancer with a poor pulmonary function test with comorbidity or old age. The clinical stage was IA in 30 patients (68.2%), IB in 14 (31.8%). The mean tumor size was 2.6 cm (range, 1.2 to 4.8 cm), and the tumor was smaller than 2 cm in 12 patients (27.3%). The radiation dose given was 48-60 Gy in 3-4 fractions. In a median follow-up of 23.1 months, local recurrence occurred in three patients (2-year local recurrence-free survival rate, 90.4%) and distant metastasis occurred in 13 patients. All patients tolerated the radiosurgery well, only two patients developing grade 3 dyspnea. The most common complications were radiation-induced fibrosis and pneumonitis. Eight patients died due to cancer progression. Conclusion: The results showed that fiducial-less CKRS shows comparable local tumor control and survival rates to those of LINAC-based SABR or CKRS with a fiducial marker. Thus, fiducial-less CKRS using Xsight lung tracking system can be effectively and safely performed for patients with medically inoperable stage I non-small cell lung cancer without any risk of procedure-related complication.

This paper proposes an efficient approach for the structural topology optimization of bi-directional functionally graded structures by incorporating popular radial basis functions (RBFs) into an implicit level set (ILS) method. Compared to traditional element density-based methods, a level set (LS) description of material boundaries produces a smoother boundary description of the design. The paper develops RBF implicit modeling with multiquadric (MQ) splines, thin-plate spline (TPS), exponential spline (ES), and Gaussians (GS) to define the ILS function with high accuracy and smoothness. The optimization problem is formulated by considering RBF-based nodal densities as design variables and minimizing the compliance objective function. A LS-RBF optimization method is proposed to transform a Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential equation (PDE) into a system of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) over the entire design domain using a collocation formulation of the method of lines design variables. The paper presents detailed mathematical expressions for BiDFG beams topology optimization with two different material models: continuum functionally graded (CFG) and mechanical functionally graded (MFG). Several numerical examples are presented to verify the method's efficiency, reliability, and success in accuracy, convergence speed, and insensitivity to initial designs in the topology optimization of two-dimensional (2D) structures. Overall, the paper presents a novel and efficient approach to topology optimization that can handle bi-directional functionally graded structures with complex geometries.

본 연구는 네트워크 형태의 사회적 자본이 가치 공동창출에 미치는 영향력을 파악하기 위해 소셜 미디어 이용자 283명을 대상으로 실증 조사를 하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 사회적 자본이 주관적 웰빙에 미치는 영향에 있어 네트워크 자본이 주관적 웰빙에 정(+)의 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 주관적 웰빙이 가치 공동창출에 미치는 영향에 있어 주관적 웰빙이 가치 공동창출에 정(+)의 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 사회적 자본으로서의 네트워크 연결망이 넓은 사람은 긍정적인 네트워크의 결속과 가교를 통한 긍정적인 정신과 사고를 바탕으로 우호적 협력과 친밀감을 갖고 호혜적 관점에서 적극적인 사회적 참여를 통해 가치창출을 함으로써 이익을 공유할 수 있다. 넷째, 사회적 자본이 가치 공동창출에 미치는 영향에 사회적 정체성이 조절역할을 하는지 여부를 검증한 결과 조절역할을 하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과 네트워크 자본과 주관적 웰빙 그리고 가치 공동창출을 통한 소비자의 참여와 도움과 애호적 행동은 유의한 관계가 있음을 발견하였다. 또한 사회적 자본과 가치 공동창출간의 관계에서 주관적 웰빙이 가치 공동창출을 높이는 촉진적 요인으로 발견되었다. 즉, 소비자의 소셜 네트워크와 관련한 도움과 상호작용을 통한 결속과 가교 역할에 따른 사회적 자본의 네트워크 특성은 충분히 실무적 뿐만 아니라 이론적 시사점을 제시한다고 볼 수 있다. 주관적 웰빙의 매개효과에 대한 발견은 다른 공동체 구성원과의 감성적인 관여와 애착심을 갖고, 특정 집단에 소속함으로써 자아 가치를 높이는 것이 소셜 미디어 사이트에 대한 가치 공동창출을 촉진하는 요인임을 시사 하여 준다. This study set out to carry out empirical research toward 283 social media users to investigate the influence of network-based social capital on value co-creation. The findings of the study can be summarized as follows. First, regarding the influence of social capital on subjective well-being, network capital had a positive influence on the subjective well-being. Second, subjective well-being had a positive influence on value co-creation. Third, those who actively used network as social capital cooperate well with the others through the positive solidarity and liaisonwith others in the network. Furthermore, they could share benefits by creating value through active social participation in reciprocal perspective. Fourth, social identity did notmoderate the relationship between social capital and value co-creation. Overall, network capital had a significant relationship with subjective well-being and consumers' participation, assistance and advocay behavior through value co-creation. In addition, as for the relationship between social capital and value co-creation, it was found that subjective well-being facilitates value co-creation. In other words, the findings of this study provides ample theoretical as well as practical implications which reflect the major features of network-based social capital. Also the finding on the mediation effect of subjective well-being suggestes that membership in specific group enhances self-worth based on emotional involvement and attachment to others, which facilitates value co-creation behavior

Ultraviolet-ozone (UVO) treatment modifies the surface properties of an organic film. However, the electronic properties of UVO-treated organic films have not understood sufficiently. In this study, the changes in the electronic structure of tetra-tert-butyl copper phthalocyanine (ttb-CuPc) films by various UVO treatment times were explored by using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Significant oxidation is observed in both UV-vis and XPS spectra. The charge redistribution on the ttb-CuPc molecule is discussed using detailed fittings of the XPS spectra.

Induction heating (IH) systems have been attracting more attention due to their direct heating capability. Moreover, IH systems have the advantages of fast heating performance, high effi ciency, cleanliness, and safety. However, they also have the disadvantage of limited pot material, size, and misalignment. In general, IH systems cannot properly heat non-ferromagnetic pots because of their low resistance, which induces a large switch current. Third harmonic modulation (THM) is proposed to mitigate this issue. The conventional THM can heat low-impedance pots; however, it has drawbacks in high possibility of hard switching due to the high fi rst harmonic current in the resonant tank. In this paper, a phase-shifted THM is proposed to improve soft switching and the maximum heating capabilities compared with the conventional THM by reducing the fi rst harmonic component of the resonant current.
