Rapid characterization of ginsenosides in the roots and rhizomes of Panax ginseng by UPLC-DAD-QTOF-MS/MS and simultaneous determination of 19 ginsenosides by HPLC-ESI-MS

        Wang, Hong-Ping,Zhang, You-Bo,Yang, Xiu-Wei,Zhao, Da-Qing,Wang, Ying-Ping The Korean Society of Ginseng 2016 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.40 No.4

Background: Ginsenosides are the characteristic and principal components which manifest a variety of the biological and pharmacological activities of the roots and rhizomes of Panax ginseng (GRR). This study was carried out to qualitatively and quantitatively determine the ginsenosides in the cultivated and forest GRR. Methods: A rapid and sensitive ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode-array detector and quadrupole/time of flight tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-DAD-QTOF-MS/MS) was applied to the qualitative analysis of ginsenosides and a 4000 QTRAP triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometer (HPLC-ESI-MS) was applied to quantitative analysis of 19 ginsenosides. Results: In the qualitative analysis, all ingredients were separated in 10 min. A total of 131 ginsenosides were detected in cultivated and forest GRR. The method for the quantitative determination was validated for linearity, precision, and limits of detection and quantification. 19 representative ginsenosides were quantitated. The total content of all 19 ginsenosides in the forest GRR were much higher than those in the cultivated GRR, and were increased with the growing ages. Conclusion: This newly developed analysis method could be applied to the quality assessment of GRR as well as the distinction between cultivated and forest GRR.

Study on Nano-Metal Oxide and Carbon Nanotube Composites on Thermal Decomposition of Potassium Perchlorate

        Ping-An Liu,Meng-Jun Wang,Lu Wang,Jun Wang,Ting Wang 대한화학회 2019 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.40 No.4

In this study, novel carbon nanotube (CNT) and transition-metal oxides (TMOs) nanoparticle catalysts were prepared and their effects on the thermal decomposition of potassium perchlorate (KP) were investigated. Nanocatalysts have been widely studied because of their excellent properties, such as the high surface energies of nanoparticles and their ease of agglomeration adversely affect their catalytic performances. Good dispersion is the key to good nanocatalytic activity. The composite catalysts were prepared by loading a nanocatalyst on CNTs; this improves nanoparticle dispersion, promotes electron transfer during the reaction, and increases the catalytic effect. Different types of CNT-based composite catalysts and their corresponding single nanocatalysts were each added to KP. The effects of the catalysts on the thermal decomposition of KP were studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The activity of each catalyst was evaluated on the basis of the changes in the thermal decomposition peaks and the apparent decomposition heats. The results show that the activity of a composite catalyst in KP thermal decomposition is much higher than that of its corresponding single nanocatalyst.

Adverse effect of DEHP exposure on the serum insulin level of Balb/c mice

        Jing Wang,Jinquan Li,Kashif Rafiq Zahid,Kun Wang,Yan Qian,Ping Ma,Shumao Ding,Xu Yang,Xianliang Wang,Xianliang Wang,Xu Yang 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2016 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.12 No.1

Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a common indoor pollutant in the world, which may cause lots of harmful effects in human including diabetes according to epidemiological studies. To explore the underlying role of DEHP in diabetes-like symptoms, Balb/c mice were chose to be the experimental animals in this paper. They were separated as eight groups as follows: (1) saline+normal diet (vehicle control), (2) 10 mg/kg.day DEHP+normal diet, (3) 50 mg/kg.day DEHP+normal diet, (4) 250 mg/kg.day DEHP+normal diet, (5) streptozotocin (STZ)+high fat diet (diabetes model), (6) 10 mg/kg.day DEHP+ STZ+high fat diet, (7) 50 mg/kg.day DEHP+STZ +high fat diet, (8) 250 mg/kg.day DEHP+STZ+high fat diet. The biomarkers of this experiment include four groups: (1) general indicates: body weight and drinking water, (2) blood biomarkers: serum insulin and fasting glucose, (3) pathological examination: pancreas section and kidney section, and (4) biomarkers of oxidative stress: reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in liver cells. Our study results demonstrate that: (1) at our treatment levels DEHP cannot directly induce diabetes, but reduce serum insulin level in DEHP-exposed non-STZ-treated animals, (2) pathological examination finds that these is a dose-dependent damage in the pancreas in DEHP- exposed STZ-treated groups, and (3) the oxidative mechanism may be involved in this pathological process.

On the Value Distribution of ff(k)

Wang, Jian-Ping Department of Mathematics 2006 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.46 No.2

This paper proves the following results: Let $f$ be a transcendental entire function, and let $k({\geq})2$ be a positive integer. If $T(r,\;f){\neq}N_{1)}(r,1/f)+S(r,\;f)$, then $ff^{(k)}$ assumes every finite nonzero value infinitely often. Also the case when f is a transcendental meromorphic function has been considered and some results are obtained.

      • Spect-guidance to Reduce Radioactive Dose to Functioning Lung for Stage III Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

        Wang, Zhong-Tang,Wei, Li-Li,Ding, Xiu-Ping,Sun, Ming-Ping,Sun, Hong-Fu,Li, Bao-Sheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2

Objective: To investigate the treatment effect of additional information obtained by single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) lung perfusion imaging (LPI) in the radiotherapy planning process for patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: 39 patients with stage III NSCLC were enrolled. Gross tumor volume (GTV) was outlined by SPECT/CT images, SPECT-LPIs being used to define functional lung (FL) and non-functional lung (NFL) regions. Two sets of IMRT plans were designed to deliver 64Gy to PTV. One was a regular IMRT plan using CT images only (Plan 1), and the other was a corresponding IMRT plan using co-registered images (Plan 2). $FL_{Vx}$ (the % volume of functional lung receiving ${\geq}$x Gy) and $WL_{Vx}$ (% volume of whole lung to receive ${\geq}$x Gy) were compared by paired Student's t test. Kendalls correlation was used to analyze the factor (s) related with the FLV20 decrease. Results: Compared with plan 1, both $WL_{Vx}$ and $FL_{Vx}$ were decreased in plan 2. $WL_{V10}$, $WL_{V15}$, $WL_{V20}$, $WL_{V25}$, $WL_{V30}$ and $WL_{V35}$ decreased 9.7%, 13.8%, 17.2%, 12.9%, 9.8% and 9.8%, and $FL_{V10}$, $FL_{V15}$, $FL_{V20}$, $FL_{V25}$, $FL_{V30}$ and $FL_{V35}$ decreased 10.8%, 14.6%, 17.3%, 14.5%, 14.5% and 10.5%. $FL_{Vx}$ decreased significantly compared with $WL_{Vx}$. There were significant differences in $WL_{V10}$, $WL_{V15}$, $WL_{V20}$, $WL_{V25}$, $WL_{V3}$ and $FL_{V10}$, $FL_{V15}$, $FL_{V20}$, $FL_{V25}$, $FL_{V30}$ between plan 1 and plan 2 (P=0.002, 0.000, 0.000, 0.005, 0.027 and 0.002, 0.000, 0.000, 0.006, 0.010). According to Kendall correlation analysis, NFL had a negative relation with the percentage FLV20 decrease (r=-0.559, P<0.01), while the distance of PTV and NFL center had a significantly positive relation with the percentage of FLV20 decrease (r=0.768, P<0.01). Conclusion: Routine use of SPECT-LPI for patients undergoing radiotherapy planning for stage III NSCLC appears warranted.

State‑of‑health estimation for lithium‑ion batteries using differential thermal voltammetry and Gaussian process regression

        Ping Wang,Xiangyuan Peng,Cheng Ze 전력전자학회 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.7

The state of health (SOH) of lithium-ion batteries is a key factor to ensure the safe and reliable operation of electric vehicles (EVs). Differential thermal voltammetry (DTV) has been shown to be an effective in situ diagnosis method. In this paper, a SOH estimation method for lithium-ion batteries by a fusion of DTV and Gaussian process regression (GPR) is proposed. First, a wavelet transform (WT) is used to smooth DTV curves. Then the health features (HFs) are extracted, and their correlation with capacity loss is quantitatively evaluated through a Pearson correlation coefficient. To compress the data, canonical correlation analysis (CCA) is applied to obtain the canonical health feature (CHF). Subsequently, the GPR algorithm is used to establish the nonlinear mapping relationship between CHF and SOH. Experiments are performed on two datasets at different temperatures. Results show that the proposed method has high estimation accuracy and robustness.

      • Highly active bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts derived from nickel- or cobalt-phytic acid xerogel for zinc-air batteries

        Wang, Shuai,Nam, Gyutae,Li, Ping,Jang, Haeseong,Wang, Jia,Kim, Min Gyu,Wu, Zexing,Liu, Xien,Cho, Jaephil The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 Nanoscale Vol.10 No.33

<P>Developing highly efficient non-noble metal electrocatalysts for oxygen electrode reactions is highly desirable for industrial scale application in energy related devices. Herein, two new kinds of Ni (POxN3−x)2/NPC and Co (POxN3−x)2/NPC (NPC: N, P-co-doped carbon) are synthesized through a facile post-treatment of nickel- or cobalt-phytic acid xerogel, followed by an annealing procedure under an argon and ammonia atmosphere at 800 °C. The as-prepared catalysts exhibit outstanding catalytic activities for both the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions, which are comparable to those of Pt/C and IrO2. Furthermore, the primary zinc-air batteries assembled with Ni (POxN3−x)2/NPC and Co (POxN3−x)2/NPC as the cathodes show gravimetric energy densities of 894 and 836 W h kgZn−1, which are superior to that of Pt/C (793 W h kgZn−1). In addition, the rechargeable zinc-air battery assembled with Ni (POxN3−x)2/NPC exhibits an excellent round-trip efficiency, which is shown by a slight increase in the sum of the overpotentials for discharge-charge cycling at a current density of 20 mA cm−2, even after experiencing 33 h of testing. To the best of our knowledge, there are few reports on metaphosphate salts where oxygen is partially replaced by nitrogen as bifunctional oxygen electrode catalysts for zinc-air batteries. This work provides an easy, low-cost and scalable avenue to develop new kinds of catalyst for application in energy devices.</P>

Stackelberg Game for Distributed Time Scheduling in RF-Powered Backscatter Cognitive Radio Networks

        Wang, Wenbo,Hoang, Dinh Thai,Niyato, Dusit,Wang, Ping,Kim, Dong In IEEE 2018 IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications Vol.17 No.8

<P>In this paper, we study the transmission strategy adaptation problem in an RF-powered cognitive radio network, in which hybrid secondary users are able to switch between the harvest-then-transmit mode and the ambient backscatter mode for their communication with the secondary gateway. In the network, a monetary incentive is introduced for managing the interference caused by the secondary transmission with imperfect channel sensing. The sensing-pricing-transmitting process of the secondary gateway and the transmitters is modeled as a single-leader-multi-follower Stackelberg game. Furthermore, the follower sub-game among the secondary transmitters is modeled as a generalized Nash equilibrium problem with shared constraints. Based on our theoretical discoveries regarding the properties of equilibria in the follower sub-game and the Stackelberg game, we propose a distributed, iterative strategy searching scheme that guarantees the convergence to the Stackelberg equilibrium. The numerical simulations show that the proposed hybrid transmission scheme always outperforms the schemes with fixed transmission modes. Furthermore, the simulations reveal that the adopted hybrid scheme is able to achieve a higher throughput than the sum of the throughput obtained from the schemes with fixed transmission modes.</P>

      • Structural instantaneous frequency extraction based on improved multi-synchrosqueezing generalized S-transform

        Ping-Ping Yuan,Xue-Li Cheng,Hang-Hang Wang,Jian Zhang,Zhong-Xiang Shen,Wei-Xin Ren 국제구조공학회 2021 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.28 No.5

A new method is proposed to improve the accuracy of structural instantaneous frequency (IF) extraction. The proposed method combines a new form of improved generalized S-transform (IGST) and a multi-synchrosqueezing operation. The parameters selection of the window function in IGST is derived through the concentration measure (CM) principle. Then, the multi-synchrosqueezing algorithm is employed to improve energy aggregation of time-frequency analysis (TFA). To verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed improved multi-synchrosqueezing generalized S-transform (IMSSGST), a frequency-modulated multi-component signal is investigated. For structural IF extraction, a two-story shear frame and a threestory steel frame structure are introduced. Furthermore, the IF identification of a seven-story RC shear wall structure is conducted to verified the practicability in actual engineering. Numerical simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the energy aggregation of TFA and effectively improve the accuracy of IF identification.
