        노걸대 3종 판본 내 중국어 명사 접미사의 형태론적 생산성에 대한 통시적 연구

        본 논문은 원명청(元明清)대에 걸쳐 출판된 노걸대 3종 판본을 바탕으로 명사 접미사의 형태론적 생산성의 역사적 변천 과정에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 노걸대는 당시 구어체 북방 관화를 기록한 자료로써 원대부터 청대에 이르기까지의 언어적 변화를 담고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 노걸대 3종 판본을 코퍼스 자료로 사용하여 명사 접미사의 형태론적 생산성을 분석하였다. 형태론적 생산성은 각 명사 형태소가 생성해낼 수 있는 새로운 어휘의 종류의 수를 바탕으로 측정되었다. 분석 결과 -儿이 원대부터 청대에 걸쳐 가장 높은 생산성을 지니고 있는 것으로 판명된 반면, 명사 접미사 -子와 -們의 경우 이 기간 동안 생산성이 지속적으로 감소하는 양상을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 형태론적 생산성과 어휘화의 밀접한 관련성에 대한 실증적 근거를 제시함과 동시에 형태론적 법칙을 통해 생성된 어휘와 어휘 목록에 등록된 어휘가 서로 독립적인 영역에 속해 있음을 시사하고 있다. This study focuses on the historical change in the productivity of Chinese nominal suffixes based on three versions of Laoqida (老乞大) published in the Yuan, Ming and Qing periods respectively. Because Laoqida transcribes spoken Chinese language at the time and also reflects language change over time spanning from the Yuan to Qing period, it serves as a corpus database that allows us to examine the premodern spoken Chinese language. Using Laoqida as a corpus database, this study used hapax-based analysis to examine morphological productivity of the nominal suffixes (-zi, -er, -men) under investigation based on the number of novel expressions created by each suffix. The findings of the study show that -er remains as the most productive suffix throughout the Yuan-Qing periods whereas the productivity of -zi and -men continues to decline over the same periods. The results of the study suggest that the morphological productivity and the lexicalization of derived words are closely associated with each other. Furthermore, the study provides evidence that lexicon and morphology should be considered as two independent domains.

        Maeng Sa-sŏng was born in 1360, the 9th year of the reign of King Kongmin of the Koryo dynasty in Songdo, the present Kaesŏng. Kobul is his pan name. His grand father was Maeng Yu and his father was Maeng Hee-do. When young, he was very bright. At the age of 27, he ranked top at the civil exam. His family had a hard time in the process of the change of the regime from Koryo to Chosun. After that, he went through a variety of the important positions including ministries. He was frugal and honestly poor. And, he served the people with his political philosophy that the people should be ruled not with a law or force but with a virtue. He also emphasized filial piety. He worked for the publication of books such as the encyclopedia of law, the history of Koryo, the annals of Taejong, the book of geography and the book of royal family tree.

        CAD/CAM-assisted total joint replacement for correction of facial asymmetry caused by large osteoma of mandibular condyle

        Osteoma of mandibular condyle is uncommon benign tumor that grows slowly. Growth of condylar osteoma can cause functional and morphological problems such as facial asymmetry and malocclusion. Surgical removal and concurrent temporomandibular condyle replacement is a strategy that can resolve functional and aesthetic problems associated with large osteoma of mandibular condyle. Total joint replacement (TJR) with computer-associated surgical simulation (CASS) and computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology can effectively and accurately rehabilitate debilitated condyle. A 52-year-old female visited department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Seoul National University Dental Hospital with a chief complaint of facial asymmetry and discomfort of left temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Radiographic and CT images showed a large bony mass at left TMJ surrounding left condylar head. Clinical examination revealed mandibular shift to right side, causing malocclusion and facial asymmetry. TJR of left TMJ with customized alloplastic condyle prosthesis and Biomet fossa was planned for the patient. Condyle was designed and fabricated using CAD/CAM. Surgical guides and occlusal splint fabricated with CAD/CAM technology was well. After 2 years, patient still showed occlusal stability with restored facial symmetry. No complications or recurrence were observed. TJR with customized alloplastic condyle and stock fossa can be an effective treatment strategy for large symptomatic condylar osteoma in restoration of normal function and aesthetics.

        Comparison of Chromosome Aberration Sister Chromatid Exchange for the Assement of Cadmium Toxicity

        Induction of Chromosome Aberration and Sister Chromatid exchange by CdC1₂ in CHO-K, cells and human peripheral lymphocytes was studied in order to compare the applicability of them for the assessment of cytotoxicity of cadmium. The frequencies of chromosome aberrations in CHO cells treated with cadmium during G₁ and human lymphocytes during G_0 were increased with dose-dependent manner, and almost all aberrations were chromatid types suggesting that cadmium was S-dependent agent. On the other hand, no significant increase in frequencies of SCE both in CHO cells and in human lymphocytes was observed. These data implicate that chromosome aberration analysis is good for the assessment of cadmium toxicity but SCE analysis is not good for it.

      • The growth of <i>Scenedesmus quadricauda</i> in RO concentrate and the impacts on refractory organic matter, <i>Escherichia coli</i>, and trace organic compounds

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study achieves a better operational simplicity for the phycoremediation of reverse osmosis (RO) concentrate using <I>Scenedesmus quadricauda</I> microalgae. Under continuous illumination with CO<SUB>2</SUB> supplementation, algal growth in the RO concentrate resulted in a conversion of polymeric organic matter (a mixture of humic substances and polysaccharides) to biodegradable fractions and their prompt removal along with inorganic nutrients (NO<SUB>3</SUB> <SUP>−</SUP> and PO<SUB>4</SUB> <SUP>3−</SUP>). The algal-induced degradation of humic-like substances which are typically refractory to microbial decomposition was demonstrated in an indirect manner. In this study, we also investigated the effects of algal treatment on the growth of <I>Escherichia coli</I> and removal of trace organic compounds (TOrCs) from the RO concentrate. Our results indicate that algal treatment of the RO concentrate using aeration with 10% (v/v) CO<SUB>2</SUB> under continuous illumination is highly feasible as a safe and inexpensive technology to remove non- or slowly-biodegradable organic matter, reduce enteric bacteria, and attenuate TOrCs in wastewater. However, the results should not be generalized, but critically discussed, due to limitations of using the synthetic RO concentrate in evaluating the performance of wastewater remediation with microalgae.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> <I>S. quadricauda</I> is capable of utilizing carbonaceous organics under aerated conditions. </LI> <LI> Continuous light stimulated the microalga to improve the biodegradability of organics. </LI> <LI> <I>S. quadricauda</I> successfully removed colored refractory organics along with N & P. </LI> <LI> The algal treatment is also promising to reduce <I>E. coli</I> and trace organic chemicals. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

      • Characteristics of flocs formed by polymer-only coagulation in water treatment and their impacts on the performance of downstream membrane separation

        <P>Two different quaternary amine polymers were examined as primary coagulants for the removal of natural organic matter (NOM) and concurrent production of flocs favorable for downstream membrane separation. The primary issue explored was the relationship between various coagulation conditions on the floc characteristics and the subsequent performance of microfiltration when filtering coagulated NOM. The size distribution and morphological properties of flocs formed through the coagulation of NOM were characterized and the effects of polymer type and dose on these characteristics were also examined. Coagulation of NOM using polydiallyldimethyl-ammonium chloride (pDADMAC) produced looser and less settleable flocs compared to dosing the equivalent amount of epichlorohydrin/dimethylamine (epi/DMA). This was associated with the formation of a relatively denser cake layer on the top of the membrane for the filtration of NOM coagulated with epi/DMA. The charge neutralization coagulation condition with the polymers removed almost all of the fouling tendency that had occurred when filtering raw NOM. The median diameter and the fractal dimension of the flocs produced increased as the zeta potential approached zero, which resulted in the formation of a cake layer that was easily removed from the surface of the membrane.</P>

        Inhibition of TGFBIp expression reduces lymphangiogenesis and tumor metastasis

        <P>Transforming growth factor-beta-induced protein (TGFBIp) is an extracellular matrix protein that has a role in a wide range of pathological conditions. However, the role of TGFBIp signaling in lymphangiogenesis is poorly understood. The purpose of this study was therefore to analyze the effects of TGFBIp on lymphangiogenesis and determine whether TGFBIp-related lymphangiogenesis is important for the metastasis of tumor cells. TGFBIp increased adhesion, migration, and morphologic differentiation of human lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs), consistent with an increase in lymphatic vessel sprouting in a three-dimensional lymphatic ring assay. TGFBIp also induced phosphorylation of intracellular signaling molecules SRC, FAK, AKT, JNK and ERK. TGFBIp-induced lymphatic vessel sprouting was inhibited by addition of anti-integrin beta 3 antibody and pharmacologic inhibitors of FAK, AKT, JNK or ERK. TGFBIp increased both CCL21 expression in LECs, a chemokine that actively recruits tumor cells expressing the cognate chemokine receptors to lymphatic vessels and LEC permeability by inducing the dissociation of VE-cadherin junctions between LECs via the activation of SRC signaling. In vivo, inhibition of TGFBIp expression in SW620 cancer cells dramatically reduced tumor lymphangiogenesis and metastasis. Collectively, our findings demonstrate that TGFBIp is a lymphangiogenic factor contributing to tumor dissemination and represents a potential target to inhibit metastasis.</P>
