Instrumentation on structural health monitoring systems to real world structures

Jun Teng,Wei Lu,Runfa Wen,Ting Zhang 국제구조공학회 2015 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.15 No.1

Instrumentation on structural health monitoring system imposes critical issues for applying the structural monitoring system to real world structures, for which not only on the configuration and geometry, but also aesthetics on the system to be monitored should be considered. To illustrate this point, two real world structural health monitoring systems, the structural health monitoring system of Shenzhen Vanke Center and the structural health monitoring system of Shenzhen Bay Stadium in China, are presented in the paper. The instrumentation on structural health monitoring systems of real world structures is addressed by providing the description of the structure, the purpose of the structural health monitoring system implementation, as well as details of the system integration including the installations on the sensors and acquisition equipment and so on. In addition, an intelligent algorithm on stress identification using measurements from multi-region is presented in the paper. The stress identification method is deployed using the fuzzy pattern recognition and Dempster-Shafer evidence theory, where the measurements of limited strain sensors arranged on structure are the input data of the method. As results, at the critical parts of the structure, the stress distribution evaluated from the measurements has shown close correlation to the numerical simulation results on the steel roof of the Beijing National Aquatics Center in China. The research work in this paper can provide a reference for the design and implementation of both real world structural health monitoring systems and intelligent algorithm to identify stress distribution effectively.

Model reduction techniques for high-rise buildings and its reduced-order controller with an improved BT method

        Chao-Jun Chen,Jun Teng,Zuo-Hua Li,Qing-Gui Wu,Bei-Chun Lin 국제구조공학회 2021 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.78 No.3

An AMD control system is usually built based on the original model of a target building. As a result, the fact leads a large calculation workload exists. Therefore, the orders of a structural model should be reduced appropriately. Among various model-reduction methods, a suitable reduced-order model is important to high-rise buildings. Meanwhile, a partial structural information is discarded directly in the model-reduction process, which leads to the accuracy reduction of its controller design. In this paper, an optimal technique is selected through comparing several common model-reduction methods. Then, considering the dynamic characteristics of a high-rise building, an improved balanced truncation (BT) method is proposed for establishing its reduced-order model. The abandoned structural information, including natural frequencies, damping ratios and modal information of the original model, is reconsidered. Based on the improved reduced-order model, a new reduced-order controller is designed by a regional pole-placement method. A high-rise building with an AMD system is regarded as an example, in which the energy distribution, the control effects and the control parameters are used as the indexes to analyze the performance of the improved reduced-order controller. To verify its effectiveness, the proposed methodology is also applied to a four-storey experimental frame. The results demonstrate that the new controller has a stable control performance and a relatively short calculation time, which provides good potential for structural vibration control of high-rise buildings.

Berberine Inhibits HEp-2 Cell Invasion Induced by Chlamydophila pneumoniae Infection

        Li Jun Zhang,Wei Quan,Bei Bei Wang,Bing Ling Shen,Teng Teng Zhang,Yi Kang 한국미생물학회 2011 The journal of microbiology Vol.49 No.5

This study investigated the inhibitory effects of berberine on Chlamydophila (Chlamydia) pneumoniae infection-induced HEp-2 cell invasion and explored the possible mechanisms involved in this process. C. pneumoniae infection resulted in a significant increase in HEp-2 cell invasion when compared with the control cells (P<0.01) in a Matrigel invasion assay. This enhanced cell invasion was strongly suppressed by berberine (50 μM) (P<0.01). In a cell adhesion assay, the infection-induced HEp-2 cell adhesion to Matrigel was also significantly inhibited by berberine (P<0.01). C. pneumoniae infection was found to promote HEp-2 cell migration remarkably (P<0.01), which was markedly suppressed by berberine (P<0.01) in the cell migration assays. There were no statistically significant differences in the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and MMP-9 in the infected cells and berberine did not change the expression of MMP-1 and MMP-9. These data suggest that berberine inhibits C. pneumoniae infection-induced HEp-2 cell invasion through suppressing HEp-2 cell adhesion and migration, but not through changing the expression of MMP-1 and MMP-9.

Potential Antitumor Activity of SIM-89 in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Cells

        Jun Pei,Baohui Han,Tianqing Chu,Minhua Shao,Jiajun Teng,Huifang Sha,Aiqing Gu,Rong Li,Jialin Qian,Weifeng Mao,Ying Li 연세대학교의과대학 2017 Yonsei medical journal Vol.58 No.3

Purpose: c-Met and its ligand, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), play a critical role in oncogenesis and metastatic progression. The aim of this study was to identify inhibited enzymogram and to test the antitumor activity of SIM-89 (a c-Met receptor tyrosine kinaseinhibitor) in non-small cell lung cancer. Materials and Methods: Z’-LYTE kinase assay was employed to screen the kinase enzymogram, and mechanism of action (MOA) analysis was used to identify the inhibited kinases. Cell proliferation was then analyzed by CCK8 assay, and cell migration was determinedby transwell assay. The gene expression and the phosphorylation of c-Met were examined by realtime-PCR and western blotting, respectively. Finally, the secretion of HGF was detected by ELISA assay. Results: c-Met, activated protein kinase (AMPK), and tyrosine kinase A (TRKA) were inhibited by SIM-89 with the IC50 values of 297 nmol/L, 1.31 μmol/L, and 150.2 nmol/L, respectively. SIM-89 exerted adenosine triphosphate (ATP) competitive inhibition on c-Met. Moreover, the expressions of STAT1, JAK1, and c-Met in H460 cells were decreased by SIM-89 treatment, and c-Met phosphorylationwas suppressed in A549, H441, H1299, and B16F10 cells by the treatment. In addition, SIM-89 treatment significantly decreased the level of HGF, which accounted for the activation of c-Met receptor tyrosine kinase. Finally, we showed cell proliferationinhibition and cell migration suppression in H460 and H1299 cells after SIM-89 treatment. Conclusion: In conclusion, SIM-89 inhibits tumor cell proliferation, migration and HGF autocrine, suggesting it’s potential antitumoractivity.

The intrinsic relationship between color variation and performances of the deteriorated aviation lubrication oil

        Jun Ma,Shaojun Ruan,Jianqiang Hu,Yuanbao Sun,Yiwei Fei,Xufeng Jiang,Shibao Dong,Teng Chen,Nan Wu 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.92 No.-

Dose the blackened lubrication oil needs to be replaced forflying safety? Since there is very limited roomfor inaccurate assessment of oil quality due to strictflying safety standards, much aviation lubrication oilis disposed in advance long before their service life. More important, aircrafts still face the fatalchallenges from unpredictable lubrication oil deterioration. Color change is surely a significant signal to diagnose the quality of lubrication oils. Based on thecolorimeter, the color numbers of the testing lubrication oils are measured in this paper to identify thecolor variation degree of the oxidized lubrication oils. Then the molecular structures of the oxidizedlubrication oils are investigated tofind the intrinsic relationship between the oxidation products andcolor numbers. Based on key performances of the oxidized oil samples, the oil quality is undoubtfullydeteriorated which is coincident with the variation of color number. The color numbers of the usedaviation lubrication oils could provide an alternative way to readily and quickly measure the declinedegree and residual lifetime.

Functionally gradient chitosan/hydroxyapatite composite scaffolds for controlled drug release

Teng, Shu-Hua,Lee, Eun-Jung,Wang, Peng,Jun, Shin-Hee,Han, Cheol-Min,Kim, Hyoun-Ee Wiley Subscription Services, Inc., A Wiley Company 2009 Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B Vol. No.

<P>This study explored the potential of chitosan/hydroxyapatite (HA) composites to act as a controlled drug delivery system by developing functional scaffolds with a gradient of structure and drug concentration. Firstly, a porous composite scaffold was prepared and tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) was impregnated in the scaffold as a model drug. The pore size of the scaffold was negatively dependent on the HA content and ranged about 40–250 μm. Subsequently, a porous chitosan/HA composite layer without drug was coated on the scaffold to create a gradient drug concentration in the specimen. The in vitro drug-release test demonstrated that the porous layer without drug on the outer surface of the scaffold significantly reduced the initial burst of drug release and extended the release period. Finally, a successive and dense chitosan/HA composite layer endowed the scaffold with a sustained, drug-release pattern without any initial drug burst. These findings confirmed the high effectiveness of the hybrid scaffolds in regulating the release of drugs, and hence their capability to serve as a temporary drug carrier in tissue regeneration. These functional scaffolds also have potential application to the delivery of some bioactive molecules such as growth factors. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. High Capacity Information Hiding Method Based on Pixel-value Adjustment with Modulus Operation

( Teng Li Yu Zhang ),( Sha Wang ),( Jun-jie Sun ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2021 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.15 No.4

Through information hiding technique, secret message can be hidden in pictures. Stego-image quality and hiding capacity are two important metrics for information hiding. To enhance these metrics, many schemes were proposed by scholars in recent years. Some of them are effective and successful, but there is still a room for further improvement. A high capacity information hiding scheme (PAMO, Pixel-value Adjustment with Modulus Operation Algorithm) is introduced in this paper. PAMO scheme uses pixel value adjustment with modulus operation to hide confidential data in cover-image. PAMO scheme and some referenced schemes are implemented in Python and experiments are carried out to evaluate their performance. In the experiments, PAMO scheme shows better performance than other methods do. When secret message length is less than 72000 bits, the highest hiding capacity of PAMO can reach 7 bits per pixel, at the same time the PSNR of stego-images is greater than 30 dB.

Parkinson’s Disease with Fatigue: Clinical Characteristics and Potential Mechanisms Relevant to α-Synuclein Oligomer

        Li-Jun Zuo,Shu-Yang Yu,Fang Wang,Yanghui Xia,Ying-Shan Piao,Yang Du,Teng-Hong Lian,Rui-Dan Wang,Qiu-Jin Yu,Ya-Jie Wang,Xiao-Min Wang,Piu Chan,Sheng-Di Chen,Yongjun Wang,Wei Zhang 대한신경과학회 2016 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.12 No.2

Background and Purpose The aim of this study was to identify the clinical characteristics and potential mechanisms relevant to pathological proteins in Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients who experience fatigue. Methods PD patients (n=102) were evaluated using a fatigue severity scale and scales for motor and nonmotor symptoms. The levels of three pathological proteins—α-synuclein oligomer, β-amyloid (Aβ)1-42, and tau—were measured in 102 cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from these PD patients. Linear regression analyses were performed between fatigue score and the CSF levels of the above-listed pathological proteins in PD patients. Results The frequency of fatigue in the PD patients was 62.75%. The fatigue group had worse motor symptoms and anxiety, depression, and autonomic dysfunction. The CSF level of α-synuclein oligomer was higher and that of Aβ1-42 was lower in the fatigue group than in the non-fatigue group. In multiple linear regression analyses, fatigue severity was significantly and positively correlated with the α-synuclein oligomer level in the CSF of PD patients, after adjusting for confounders. Conclusions PD patients experience a high frequency of fatigue. PD patients with fatigue have worse motor and part nonmotor symptoms. Fatigue in PD patients is associated with an increased α-synuclein oligomer level in the CSF

The Production and Cytological Analysis of Brassica napus-B Genome Chromosome Monosomic Addition Lines and Their Hybrids

        Mao Teng Li,Jun Xiang,Jian Min Liu,Long Jiang Yu,Dian Rong Li 한국유전학회 2008 Genes & Genomics Vol.30 No.2

The Brassica napus-B genome monosomic addition lines (MALs) (AACC + B`, 2n = 39) were developed from self-pollination of pentaploid hybrids (AABCC) that were derived from hybridization between hexaploid hybrids (AABBCC) and B. napus (AACC). The alien chromosomes of the B genome in MALs were identified by the GISH technique, by observation of the meiotic behavior of pollen mother cells (PMCs), and by B-genome-specific molecular marker analysis. Studies of the meiotic behavior of B. napus-B genome chromosome MALs at diakinesis revealed that the majority of the chromosome configuration was 19II+1I, which indicated that the alien B genome chromosome remained univalent in most cases. The laggard-free PMCs also appeared at a lower ratio, which indicated that the B genome chromosome could be transmitted into gametes. The chromosome configurations of 20II and 19II+2I that appeared in double MALs (AACC+ 2 chromosomes of the B genome) indicated different homoeology between different B genome chromosomes. The paired B genome bivalent in double MALs can be normally segregated at anaphase in most cases. PMCs with multivalents were observed in all the double MAL combinations, which indicated homology of the B genome chromosomes with the A or C genome chromosomes.
