The equipment of textiles let off is a part of inspection machine which inspects finished textiles and it checks up textiles through that. This study suggests a method to select the capacity and initial gas pressure of accumulator to control surge rising pressure occurring when suddenly braking action to a desired degree. An accumulator in hydraulic systems is hydraulic machinery which store kinetic energy of inertia body during braking. A series of computer simulations were done for the brake action. The results of the simulation work were compared with those of experiments.

The diffuser is used to get low pressure, and it has been applied to a lot of industry field like the heat engine, the fluid instrument power plant, the food industry, environment industry etc... because there are not any problem even it is mixed with kinds of liquid, gas, and solid. The flow characteristics in diffuser are investigated by prv and CFD. The experiment using PIV measurement for mixing pipe's flow characteristics acquired velocity distribution, .Condition : when mixing pipe's diameter ratio is 1:2.3, and the flux is Q₁ = 1.136 l/s, Q₂ = 1.706 l/s, Q₃ = 2.276 l/s . Based on the PIV and the CFD results, the flow characteristics in ejector are discussed, and it shows the validity of this study.

<P>We have systematically designed and realized the optical feedforward transmitter using microwave circuit model of distributed-feedback laser diode (DFB LD) based on rate equations. Through the system-level simulation for the optical feedforward method, the nonlinearity of DFB-LD is analyzed, and the optimized characteristics of the RF components in the system are confirmed by using a microwave simulator. The experimental and simulated results show the reduced distortion products and enhanced spurious-free dynamic ranges are in good agreement at 2.4 GHz. These results are analyzed as the evaluation parameters for the miniaturization and optimization of the feedforward compensation method in radio-over-fiber systems. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Isolation, Quality Evaluation, and Seasonal Changes of Bakkenolide B in Petasites japonicus by HPLC

머위(Peatasites japonicus)의 잎으로부터 생리활성물질을 탐색하여 항천식 효과가 있는 물질로 알려진 bakenolide B를 순수분리하였으며, 1D-NMR, 2D-NMR 및 GC-MS spectrum 데이터를 이용하여 구조를 동정하였다. 머위의 잎, 엽병 및 근경 등의 채취시기별 bakkenolide B의 함량을 평가하기 위하여 HPLC 분석 방법을 확립하였다. Bakkenolide B의 민감도는 210 nm와 215 nm의 파장에서 254 nm, 235 nm 및 265 nm보다 높았으며, 분석을 위한 회귀 직선식은 y=7.841-6.262(파장 215 nm)로서 상관값(r<SUP>2</SUP>)이 0.999 이상으로서 유의성이 매우 높았다. 검출한계(LOD)는 1.05, 정량한계 (LOQ)는 3.38이었다. 회수율은 3종류의 농도값에 대하여 98.6에서 103.1%로서 매우 높았다. 이러한 결과들로 미루어 볼 때 머위에서 bakkenolide B의 함량은 HPLC 분석방법으로서 가능한 것으로 증명되었다. 따라서 식물체의 부위 즉 잎, 엽병 및 근경에서의 bakkenolide B의 함량을 측정한 결과, 잎에서 가장 높았고, 다음은 엽병이었으며, 근경에서 함량이 가장 낮았다. 3월 초부터 8월 초까지 1개월 간격으로 식물체의 부위별 bakkenolide B의 함량을 조사한 결과, 3월부터 8월까지 채취시기가 지연될수록 감소하는 경향이었다. 따라서 HPLC를 이용한 Petasites species의 bakkenolides 분석은 단순하고, 급속하게 분석할 수 있는 방법으로 확인되었다. The leaves of Peatasites japonicus are a traditional oriental medicine with diverse biological activities. A simple and specific analytical method for the quantitative determination of bakkenolide B constituents from methanolic extract of the leaves of P. japonicus was developed. Bakkenolide B was isolated from the leaves of P. japonicus, and its structure was elucidated based on 1D, 2D NMR, and GC-MS spectral data. A liquid chromatographic method was developed to evaluate the quality of P. japonicus through determination of major active compound, bakkenolide B. The wavelengths at 254 and 215 nm were chosen to determine bakkenolide B. The recovery of the method was in the range of 98.6 to 103.1%, and bakkenolide B showed good linearity (r<SUP>2</SUP>=0.999) within test ranges. The developed method was applied to the determination of bakkenolide B in the plant part and seasonal changes. The results showed that the content of bakkenolide B in the leaf was higher than in the petiole and rhizome. In this study, a simple, rapid, and reliable high-performance liquid chromatography method was used to determine the percentage and composition of bakkenolide B in P. japonicus procured from different Petasites species plants in South Korea. The method can be employed in routine quantitative analysis and quality control of different products in the market.
Current Issues and Technical Advances in Cultured Meat Production

As the global population grows, we need a stable protein supply to meet the demands. Although plant-derived protein sources are widely available, animal meat maintains its popularity as a high-quality and savory protein source. Recently, cultured meat, also known as in vitro meat, has been suggested as a meat analog produced through in vitro cell culture technology. Cultured meat has several advantages over conventional meat, such as environmental protection, disease prevention, and animal welfare. However, cultured meat manufacturing is an emerging technology; thus, its further and dynamic development would be pivotal. Commercialization of cultured meat to the public will take a long time but cultured meat undoubtedly will come to our table someday. Here, we discuss the social and economic aspects of cultured meat production as well as the recent technical advances in cultured meat technology.

Background/Aims: Follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) and Hurthle cell carcinoma(HCC) of the thyroid are relatively uncommon thyroid malignancies in iodine-sufficient areas. In this study we evaluated the clinical behavior, prognosticfactors and treatment outcomes of FTC and HCC in Korea. Methods: This multicenter study included 483 patients with FTC and 80 patientswith HCC who underwent an initial surgery between 1995 and 2006 in one of thefour tertiary referral hospitals in Korea. We evaluated clinicopathological factorsassociated with distant metastases and recurrence during a median of 6 years offollow-up. Results: HCC patients were significantly older (49 years vs. 43 years; p < 0.001) andhad more lymphovascular invasions (22% vs. 14%; p = 0.03) compared with FTCpatients. Distant metastases were confirmed in 40 patients (8%) in the FTC groupand in two patients (3%) in the HCC group (p = 0.07). Distant metastases weresignificantly associated with older age, widely invasive cancer and extrathyroidalinvasion. Only 14 patients (3%) had recurrent disease and there was no significantdifference between FTC and HCC groups (p = 0.38). Recurrence was associatedwith larger tumor size and cervical lymph node metastasis. Conclusions: HCC patients were older and had more lymphovascular invasionsthan FTC patients. However, FTC and HCC patients had similar initial clinicopathologicalfeatures. Older age, wide invasiveness and extrathyroidal invasionwere independent risk factors for predicting distant metastases in FTC and HCCpatients.
