        Raman Spectroscopic Probe of the Magnetic Specific Heat in Quantum Magnets

        Quasielastic Raman scattering arising from spin energy fluctuations is used to extract the magnetic specific heat. To test the applicability of a Raman scattering technique for probing magnetic specific heat, we choose three different classes of quantum magnets: (i) a quasi-1D s=1/2 antiferromagnetic chain CuSe2O5, (ii) a 3D Kitaev honeycomb magnet γ-Li2IrO3, and (iii) a coupled-spin tetrahedral system Cu2Te2O5Cl2. Despite distinct dimensionality, spin topology, and spin-exchange type, the three materials show a pronounced quasielastic response commonly, enabling the determination of the magnetic contributions to the specific heat. Our work demonstrates that a Raman spectroscopic method is useful, complementing the conventional thermodynamic method, in deriving the magnetic specific heat in quantum magnets.

        Fabrication of yttria-stabilized zirconia aerogel for high-performance thermal barrier coating

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, we successfully fabricated an yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) aerogel using the sol-gel method and CO<SUB>2</SUB> supercritical drying. We confirmed the successful thermal insulation function as a thermal barrier coating (TBC) on a high-temperature gas turbine surface. In order to evaluate the performance of the YSZ aerogel, the thermal conductivity and temperature profile were measured in addition to microstructure observation by scanning electron microscopy. The thermal conductivity of the YSZ aerogel was 0.212 W/m·K at 1000 °C, which is significantly lower than the reference values of YSZ materials. The low heat conduction is attributed to heat insulation by the fine pores and low heat conduction through the nanopore spaces in the aerogel structure. The heat insulation of the YSZ aerogel as the TBC was evaluated on a gas turbine blade material by monitoring surface temperature profiles on a heater at 300–700 °C. The heat-blocking performance of the YSZ aerogel coating was superior to that of a conventional YSZ TBC (by 30–50%). By comparison with a numerical calculation, the thermal conductivity of the YSZ aerogel coating was estimated to be 0.05 W/m·K, which is significantly lower (30–40 times) than that of the YSZ TBC used for commercial gas turbines. The porous structure of the aerogel was well preserved even after the high-temperature test confirming the good thermal stability. This study demonstrated that the YSZ aerogel is promising as a gas turbine TBC material.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> YSZ aerogel was synthesized using sol-gel method and CO<SUB>2</SUB> supercritical drying. </LI> <LI> YSZ aerogel had significantly lower thermal conductivity than reference YSZ. </LI> <LI> YSZ aerogel is applied as a coating layer on commercial gas turbine alloys. </LI> <LI> YSZ aerogel coating outperforms APS YSZ used for commercial gas turbine TBC. </LI> </UL> </P>

        찬양대의 지도방안 연구

        The main purpose of this research was to focus on the ways and means of organization and operation of the Korean church choirs, with a strong emphasis on the musical education for choir members, and then to bring out the most effective teaching methods for choir directors. A choir in general had a specific quality and characteristic as a music related group in church. Yet, only methodological aspects of music education were dealt with in order to highlight the findings of our research. In other words, given the emphasis on the educational methods, other theological tenets and doctrines were deliberately excluded in the research consideration. After a brief overview with regard to a church choir and its activities in the introductory chapter, an extensive review of the choir history from the ancient era, the first of the King David s choir in B.C 975, to the present church choirs in many denominations of the Korean Christianity was carefully executed in Chapter Ⅱ. In particular, a two-track approach was used here to find out the present church choirs. One was to scrutinize several written provisions and regulations about church choirs that appear in many of the conservative denomination s church constitutions; and the other was to perform a literature review of the previous studies on the similar topics. The contents of our analysis also contained a separate focus on a choir as a whole and its members. For a choir s members, our analysis showed many interesting factors such as their qualification, eligibility, age, school education etcetera, ; for a choir as a whole, our analysis centered on the choir s organization and formation, activities, practice sessions, and musical educations. Given the previous analysis, in Chapter Ⅲ, the four major resources for a successful operation of a choir, --namely, music directors, members of a choir, choir s staffs, and the church s legitimate ruling meetings of ministers and elders (i.e., church leadership counsels), -- were seriously discussed and presented for a further analysis. One special feature of our findings was the need to attract our educational attention to the music aspects of a choir rather than to a religous tenets and bible teachings. The choir directors might also need to set up a curricular that would enable to facilitate choir members learning processes; to introduce annual curricula, educational purposes, and learning theories of the choir; and finally to suggest many different ways of scheduling for the choir s activities. Another very important findings and suggestions showed a definite necessity to keep the musical standard, despite the importance of the religious teachings and practices in church, during the practice sessions of a choir. Maintaining a successful choir required quite a hard endeavour. In addition to a sufficient practice time for the next services, music directors were required to be able to provide a series of learning sessions for their choir members in order to increase the necessary musical knowledge and choir capabilities. In addition, a clear cut directions and guidance provisions of a choir and its directors in each church were to be provided in the denominational constitutions so as to give a formal personnel support to them. All the above elements could then produce a wonderful choir that sing the praises of God and gives glory to Him.

        2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 특수학교 초등 음악교과서 개발을 위한 기초연구: 2011 개정 교육과정에 따른 특수학교 초등 음악교과서 내용 분석을 중심으로 한 개발의 시사

        이 연구는 시리즈 연구로 기획된 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 특수학교 초등 음악교과서 개발을 위한 기초연구의 세 번째로서, 2011 개정 교육과정에 따른 특수학교 초등 3-4학년, 5-6학년 음악교과서 내용의 분석과 이 두 학년 군별 연계성 분석을 통한 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 특수학교 초등 음악교과서 개발에 대한 시사를 얻는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 이 연구는 이론적 고찰을 통해 특수 기본 음악과 교육과정과 특수 초등 3-4학년, 5-6학년 음악교과서의 내용 체계에 관해 고찰하였고, 한편으로는 특수 초등 음악교과서의 내용 분석을 위한 도구를 마련하였다. 또한 이를 활용해 음악의 관점, 사회의 관점으로 특수 초등3-4학년, 5-6학년 음악교과서의 내용과 두 학년 군별 교과서의 내용 연계성에 대해 분석 결과를 도출하였다. 이로써 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 특수학교 초등 음악교과서 개발에 있어서 교육과정의 내용을 충실히 구현하면서 학년 군별의 내용 연계성을 마련하기 위한 시사를 얻을 수 있었다. This paper presents the third study in a series research titled Basic Research for the Development of Elementary Music Textbook in Special Schools according to the Revised Curriculum of 2015. It aimed to offer implications for the development of elementary music textbook for special schools according to the Revised Curriculum of 2015 by analyzing the content of music textbooks for the third & fourth grade and the fifth & sixth grade in special schools according to the Revised Curriculum of 2011 and also the connections between the two grade groups. It examined the basic music curriculum for special education and the content system of music textbooks for the third & fourth grade and the fifth & sixth grade in special schools through theoretical consideration. It also devised a tool to analyze the content of elementary music textbooks for special education and made use of it to analyze the content of music textbooks for the third & fourth grade and the fifth & sixth grade in special schools from the musical and social perspectives and the connections in textbook content between the two grade groups. The findings provide some implications to fully embody the curricular content and ensure connections in content between different grade groups in the development of elementary music textbooks for special schools according to the Revised Curriculum of 2015.

        음악과 리터러시 연구

        이 연구의 목적은 음악과 리터러시 연구이다. 연구의 문제는 ‘리터러시’를 음악과의 관점에서 고찰한다면 그 현황과 과제는 무엇인가이다. 이에 이 연구는 리터러시와 음악과 리터러시에 대해 고찰한다. 음악과 리터러시는 음악과 수업이 존재할 때부터 있어왔고 늘 그랬던 것처럼 음악과의 수업 환경이 변화하면서 역동적으로 진화한다. 이러한 음악과 리터러시의 특성에 따라 음악과 수업에서의 음악과 리터러시의 적용은 세 가지 이슈에서 논의점이 있다. 첫째, 내청 또는 다양한 유형의 오디에이션; 둘째, 융합; 셋째, 창의성이다. 음악과 교수ㆍ학습의 내용과 방법은 이 세 가지의 이슈를 중심으로 설정하여야 할 것이다. 이 셋은 음악과가 교육적 보편성과 시사성, 교과의 고유성을 함의하는 교수ㆍ학습의 내용과 방법을 학생에게 제공하는 단초를 마련케 하기 때문이다. 이 연구를 통해 연구자는 다음과 같이 제언한다. 첫째, 음악과의 목적에 맞는 음악과 교육과정에서의 내용과 방법이 무엇인지에 대해 논의하여야 할 것이다. 둘째, 교사는 수업 환경의 변화에 대해 능동적으로 적응할 수 있어야 할 것이다. 아울러 연구자는 이 연구가 음악과 리터러시라는 키워드로 음악과의 교수ㆍ학습의 내용과 방법에 대해 생각해 보는 계기가 되길 바란다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the music subject literacy. For this purpose, the study set a couple of research questions about the current state and tasks of literacy, a recent concept as a research keyword, from the perspective of the music subject. The study thus delved into the music subject literacy as well as literacy. The music subject literacy has been present since the first lesson in the music subject. As it has always been, it evolves in a dynamic way according to the changing lesson environment of the music subject. There are three issues to discuss in the application of the music subject literacy to music subject lessons according to these characteristics of the music subject literacy: they are inner hearing or various types of audiation, convergence, and creativity. These three issues should be set as key points in the content and methods of teaching and learning in the music subject. They will be the starting points to offer students the content and methods of teaching and learning in which the music subject implies educational universality, implication, and uniqueness as a subject. Based on these findings, the investigator made the following proposals: first, there should be discussions about the content and methods fit for the goals of the music subject in the music curriculum; and secondly, teachers should make active adjustment to the changing lesson environment. The present study will hopefully provide a chance to think about the content and methods of teaching and learning in the music subject based on the keyword of music subject literacy.

        4차 산업혁명시대 음악교육의 가치요소에 관한 연구

        이 연구의 목적은 4차 산업혁명시대 음악교과교육의 가치요소에 대해 연구하는 것이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해, 이 연구는 첫째, 4차 산업혁명시대 교육의 가치와 공교육 시스템에서 교과교육으로 작동하는 음악교과교육의 가치, 그리고 하이테크놀로지, 환경, 내용, 방법에 대해 이론적 고찰을 한다. 둘째, 4차 산업혁명시대 음악교과교육의 가치에 대하여 그 효력 발생에 필요한 성분 혹은 근본 조건이 될 가치요소에 대해 연구결과로서 논의한다. 우선 가치요소가 무엇인가에 대해 논의하고, 이를 바탕으로 융합 플랫폼과 혁신 창의에 대해 논의할 것을 제안한다. 음악교과교육은 4차 산업혁명시대 3R과 4C, 6개의 역량을 포함한 인간의 사상과 감정 등을 음악이라는 재료, 도구나 기제로 융합할 수 있으며, 이를 플랫폼으로 사용하기에 적당하다. 이에 융합 플랫폼이 음악교과교육의 가치요소라는 논리를 전개한다. 또한 혁신 창의의 논의에서 연구자는 4차 산업혁명시대의 다양한 하이테크놀로지에서 빅데이터를 예시로 음악교과교육의 혁신 창의에 대해 언급한다. 이로써 혁신 창의가 음악교과교육의 가치요소로 적당하다는 논리를 전개한다. 이는 교과의 고유성을 전제로 교과의 보편성, 교육적 시사성을 함의한 것이다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the value elements of music subject education in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. For this purpose, the investigator first provided theoretical reviews about high technology, environment, content and methodology in addition to the values of education and those of music subject education serving as part of subject education in the public education system in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Then the study discussed the components needed by the values of music subject education to generate its effects in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution or their fundamental conditions as its value elements. After discussing what its value elements were, the study used the results to propose to discuss a convergence platform and innovative originality. In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the music subject education can promote the convergence of human ideas and emotions including 3Rs, 4Cs, and six competencies through the material, tool or mechanism called music and offers a proper way to use it as a platform. The study thus developed the logic that a convergence platform was a value element of music subject education. Discussing innovative originality, the investigator mentioned innovative originality in the music subject education with the example of Big Data among the various high technologies in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. This developed into the logic that innovative originality was fit as a value element of music subject education, which implies the universality and educational suggestion of subjects based on the premise of their unique nature.
