        In Vitro Antiviral Activity of Ribavirin Against Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus Myung Jin LEE1, Kye-Hyung KIM1, Jongyoun YI2, SuJin CHOI1, Chung-Jong KIM1, Nak- Hyun KIM1, Kyoung-Ho SONG1, Pyoeng Gyun CHOI1, Ji-Hwan BANG1, Wan Beom PARK1, Eu Suk KIM1, Sang-Won PARK1, Hong Bin KIM1, Nam Joong KIM1, Myoung- Don OH1 Seoul National University College of Medicine, Korea1, Pusan National University School of Medicine, Korea2 Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by a novel Bunyavirus, severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV). No effective antiviral therapy is proven yet, but clinical use of ribavirin (RBV) has been tried. We investigated the antiviral effect of RBV against SFTSV in vitro. Methods: To test for cytotoxicity of RBV, Vero cells were treated with different concentrations of RBV (3.90 to 500 μg/mL, two-fold dilution) and analyzed by cell viability MTS assay 48h post-infection. To determine antiviral activity of RBV against SFTSV, Vero cells were infected with SFTSV strain Gangwon/Korea/2012 at 100 TCID50 (50% tissue culture infective dose) per well in a 96-well plate, and RBV was added at the concentrations showing no or minimal cytotoxicity. Viral RNAs were extracted from the culture supernatants and quantifi ed using one-step real-time reverse transcription- PCR to amplify the partial large segment of SFTSV. Statistical analysis was done by one-way ANOVA with Tukey`s post hoc test. Results: Cytotoxicity due to RBV was not observed at RBV concentration =31.3 μg/ mL. Viral RNAs at 24h post-RBV treatment were reduced with increasing RBV concentrations (1-32 μg/mL), compared with those of mock-treated cells (P <0.01, Figure). Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of RBV was 3.69 μg/mL at 24h post-RBV treatment. Conclusions: Our study shows that RBV has antiviral effect against SFTSV in a dose-dependent manner. Further studies are required to evaluate the effi cacy of RBV in SFTS.

        This study is for the establishment standard on the blighted degree in urban renewal area. The factors of establishment standard is population density, ratio of a building site, size of a building site, diffusion ratio of road, ground coverage, volume ratio of building, dwelling space of a person, total floor space per building, and others. As a result of this study, the standard of renewal area appointment is as follows. 1) Population density … over 300 person per hectare. 2) Ratio of a building site … over 70 percent. 3) Size of a building site … under 120㎡ 4) Diffusion ratio of the road … under 25 percent. 5) Ground coverage of a building … over 55 percent. 6) Volume ratio of a building … over 120 percent. 7) Dwelling space of a person … under 20㎡ 8) Total floor space per a building … under 80㎡ 9) Age of building … over 40 years.

      • 韓國의 都市規模別 計劃人口 密度에 관한 硏究

        Population is concentrated urban region in Korea. It is leading to over-massed dwelling of urban region and was made worse by the residential environment. This study is comparison of population density by the city size of the Master Plan in Korea. Analytical method decide ranking at thirty-five cities of Korea by the census in 1975 and it divided into city size which is Metropolis (over a million), Large City (300-1,000 thousand), Middle Town (100-300 thousand) and Small Town (under 100 thousand persons). In this study, population density for possible developing area was computed by the presumption of population in 1986. The results of this study are summerized as follows: 1). Population plan was underestimated in Metropolis (Seoul, Busan and Daegu) by policy agreement. 2). The possible developing area's population density will proper in under-a million's city. 3). The Metropolis cause an advance in the population density of possible developing area in 1936 and will bring about a change for the worse of residential environment. (362persons/ha.) 4). A plan of solution to a population density's rising is necessary re-enforcement of re-completed master plan and the plan of arrangements for residential area must be considered in the plan of re-completed master plan.

      • FCL(5-FU, Carboplatin, Leucovorin) 항암 화학요법에서 Gm-CSF의 효과

        Background: One of the major side effects of cancer chemotherapy is myelosuppression. Neutropenia and/or thrombocytopenia are dose-limiting factors in chemotherapy. Colony-stimulating factor induces proliferation and functional maturation of hematopoietic progenitor cells. GM-CSF is primarily active on progenitor cells of granulocytic and monocytic lineage. Methods: Fifteen patients with histologically proven malignancy diagnosed at Chungnam National University Hospital from January 1993 to August 1995 were included in this study. We could evaluate the clinical efficacy of GM-CSF in 13 patients undergoing FCL(5-FU, Carboplatin and Leucovorin) chemotherapy; the first cycles involved no GM-CSF while the second cycles involved GM-CSF on day 6 through 15 of chemotherapy. Results: 1) The subjects were fifteen patients in all, there were five patients with head and neck cancer, which was the most common types of maligancy. There were four patients with colon cancer, two patients with stomach cancer, and one patient with breast cancer, gallbladder cancer, cervix cancer and cholangiocarcinoma respectively, two patients, who did not complete two cycles of chemotherapy were excluded. 2) Age distribution was from 38 years to 78 years with a median age of 57. 3) In FCL chemotherapy cycles with GM-CSF, the duration of neutropenia(<500/μL) was 0.5±0.3 day, while FCL chemotherapy cycles without GM-CSF, it was 2.9±0.7 day(P=0.008). 3) There was no significant difference in platelet count between the two chemotherapy cycles(P=0.133). 4) Febrile duration without GM-CSF was 4.9±2.1 day, but with GM-CSF the duration was 1.3±0.7 day, which was significantly different(P=0.003). The duration of antibiotics use with GM-CSF was 1.7±1.2 day and without GM-CSF was 6.8±3.2 day, also significantly different(P=0.002). But hospital stay between the two cycles were not significantly different(P=0.064). Conclusion: GM-CSF was effective in preventing or restoring bone marrow depression after FCL chemotherapy.

      • 건설폐기물의 발생 현황 및 재활용 방안

        산업사회가 고도로 발전하면서 인간의 생활은 보다 윤택해졌지만, 그 부작용으로 환경오염과 자원의 고갈문제가 심각하게 대두되고, 환경파괴에 의한 자연재해까지 겹치면서 지구환경에 대한 위기 의식은 날로 고조되고 있다. 또한, 가용토지가 한계에 다다름에 따라 도심재개발 및 노후건축물의 재건축사업이 급격하게 증가하고 있어 이들 현장에서 발생하는 건설폐기물이 다량 발생할 것이 예상된다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 건설폐기물의 발생 현황을 조사하고, 국내 건설폐기물의 재활용 및 처리 방법을 파악하여, 외국 건설폐기물의 발생, 처리, 재활용 동향과 비교해보고자 한다. 마지막으로, 자원의 절약과 재활용율을 극대화시키는데 효과적인 대책수립 및 제도적 개선방안에 대해 고찰해보는데 이 연구의 목적을 두고 있다. The life of human is to be in comfortable circumstance with the development of the industrial society. However, the environmental pollution and resources exhaustion become more serious with that. Recently, the construction wastes is increased on the reconstructions of the old buildings and the redevelopment of the city. In this paper, the occurrences, managements, and recycling of domestic construction wastes are researched and compared with those of foreign construction wastes. The suitable method and improvements are considered to maximize the rate of recycling and the saving of the resources.

      • 땅비싸리와 좀땅비싸리의 형태적변이 및 분류

        동북아시아에 분포하는 땅비싸리와 좀땅비싸리의 분류학적 한계를 규명하기 위하여 형태적 변이와 염색체수가 조사되었다. 땅비싸리의 이명으로 취급되어 왔던 좀땅비싸리는 소엽의 모용, 꽃의 크기, 화분형태, 지리적 분포 등에 있어 땅비싸리와 뚜렷한 차이를 보였으며, 또한 염색체수가 4배체(2n=32)로 나타나, 2배체(2n=16)인 땅비싸리와 차이를 보였다. 땅비싸리와 좀땅비싸리 11 집단을 대상으로 19개의 외부형태 형질에 대한 주성분분석을 실시한 결과 두 종은 제1주성분에 의해 뚜렷이 나누어 졌는데, 전체분산에 대한 제1주성분의 기여율은 63.2%이었으며, 제1주성분은 소엽 표면의 털과 화서의 길이 등과 높은 상관성을 보였다. 이러한 결과로부터 좀땅비싸리는 땅비싸리와는 구별되어 독립된 종으로 처리되었다. 한편 큰땅비싸리는 땅비싸리의 변이의 한 형태로 판단되므로 땅비싸리의 이명으로 처리되었다. 각 종의 지리적 분포에 대한 분류학적 의의가 염색체수 변이 등과 비교논의 되었다. The morphological analysis and cytological study of Indigofera kirilowii Maxim. and Indigofera korean Ohwi were undertaken to assess the numbers and ranks of taxa that usefully could be recognized. I, koreana, previously recognized as I. kirilowiii, was separated from I. kirilowii in hairiness on leaflets, flower size, pollen exine sculptures, geographical distribution and chromasome number. Chromosome count of 2n=32 (tetraploidy) from I. koreana was obtained for the first time. The results of principal components analysis (PCA) on a matrix of 11 populations of Korea by 19 morphological characters indicated that two species could be recognized by the first principal component, contribution of which for the total variance is 63.2%. Our results supported that I. koreana could be clearly distinguished from I. kirilowii. Since the quantitative differences between the two varieties, I. kirilowii var. coreana and var. Kirilowii, were smaller, a nomenclatural synonymy was developed for them, ie, var. kirilowii.

      • 3次元 空間 電流座標에 의한 電力分析과 能動電力필터의 性能評價用 시뮬레이터 開發

        The definition of traditional 2-DS power factor current and co-ordinate did not represent clearly relation to power facter in circuit with nonlinear thyristor loads. A new simulator for performance evaluation of Active Power Filter (APF) by 3-D space current co-ordinate applicale to general power system have not been developed, because reserchers were merely interested in improvement of source current waveforms by using APF or its simulator. Moreover, There was not APF simulator with power analysis capability which was developed for the better. Current was decomposed by active, reactive, distortion, by digital correlation signal proccessing techique based on Nowomiejski theory. Therefore, A new 3-D space current co-ordinate composited by 3 current components was defined in this paper. A new 3-D space current co-ordinate was shown state and location of current vector by trajectories with 3-D co-ordinate rotation. It evidently has excellent performance not only performsance evaluation method of APF but alse evaluation method of general power system, not conventional domain but other domain. By proposed 3-D soace co-ordinate, space power factor is derived, the true state of physical meaning is proved, new distortion factor was proposed, this study was proved true state of appropriation throughout development of simulator for APF performance evaluation with power analysis capability.

      • 다공질 실리콘 카바이드의 제작 및 광발광 성질

        p-type α-SiC(4H, 6H, 15R polytype)를 사용하여 다공질 실리콘(porous silicon; PS)의 제작방법과 유사하게 HF/H₂O/C₂H??OH 용액에서 전기화학적으로 에칭을 하여 광발광 특성을 가지는 다공질 실리콘 카바이드(porous silicon carbide; PSC)를 제작하였다. PSC의 다공질의 분포는 전류밀도가 증가할수록 증가하고 다공질의 크기는 감소하였으며 광발광(photoluminescence; PL) 스펙트럼의 분석을 통해 전극 표면에서의 산화반응은 공급되는 전자의 양과 전류밀도에 의존하며 전류밀도가 증가할수록 전극의 산화반응은 억제된다는 결과를 얻었다. Porous silicon carbide(PSC) having photoluminescence(PL) can be prepared by a technique very similar to that used in porous silicon preparation, by electrochemical etching of crystalline p-type α-SiC(4H, 6H, 15R polytype) in ?? solution. The results show that porous distribution increase with increasing of the current densities while pore size decrease with that. Through the PL spectra analysis anodic oxidation of electrode surface was dependent on the amount of provided electrons and the current densities and inhibited with increasing of the current densities.
