Objective: To determine whether noncontrast computed tomography (NCCT) models based on multivariable, radiomics features, and machine learning (ML) algorithms could further improve the discrimination of early hematoma expansion (HE) in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH). Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 261 patients with sICH who underwent initialNCCT within 6 hours of ictus and follow-up CT within 24 hours after initial NCCT, between April 2011 and March 2019. The clinical characteristics, imaging signs and radiomics features extracted from the initial NCCT images were used to construct models to discriminate early HE. A clinical-radiologic model was constructed using a multivariate logistic regression (LR) analysis. Radiomics models, a radiomics-radiologic model, and a combined model were constructed in the training cohort (n = 182) and independently verified in the validation cohort (n = 79). Receiver operating characteristic analysis and the area under the curve (AUC) were used to evaluate the discriminative power. Results: The AUC of the clinical-radiologic model for discriminating early HE was 0.766. The AUCs of the radiomics model for discriminating early HE built using the LR algorithm in the training and validation cohorts were 0.926 and 0.850, respectively. The AUCs of the radiomics-radiologic model in the training and validation cohorts were 0.946 and 0.867, respectively. The AUCs of the combined model in the training and validation cohorts were 0.960 and 0.867, respectively. Conclusion: NCCT models based on multivariable, radiomics features and ML algorithm could improve the discrimination of early HE. The combined model was the best recommended model to identify sICH patients at risk of early HE.

Objective: To investigate the potential association among preoperative breast MRI features, axillary nodal burden (ANB), and disease-free survival (DFS) in patients with early-stage breast cancer. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 297 patients with early-stage breast cancer (cT1-2N0M0) who underwent preoperative MRI between December 2016 and December 2018. Based on the number of positive axillary lymph nodes (LNs) determined by postoperative pathology, the patients were divided into high nodal burden (HNB; ≥3 positive LNs) and non-HNB (<3 positive LNs) groups. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to identify independent risk factors associated with ANB. Predictive efficacy was evaluated using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and area under the curve (AUC). Univariable and multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression analyses were performed to determine preoperative features associated with DFS. Results: We included 47 and 250 patients in the HNB and non-HNB groups, respectively. Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that multifocality/multicentricity (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 3.905, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.685– 9.051, P = 0.001) and peritumoral edema (adjusted OR = 3.734, 95% CI: 1.644–8.479, P = 0.002) were independent risk factors for HNB. Combined peritumoral edema and multifocality/multicentricity achieved an AUC of 0.760 (95% CI: 0.707– 0.807) for predicting HNB, with a sensitivity and specificity of 83.0% and 63.2%, respectively. During the median follow-up period of 45 months (range, 5–61 months), 26 cases (8.75%) of breast cancer recurrence were observed. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression analysis indicated that younger age (adjusted hazard ratio [HR] = 3.166, 95% CI: 1.200–8.352, P = 0.021), larger tumor size (adjusted HR = 4.370, 95% CI: 1.671–11.428, P = 0.002), and multifocality/multicentricity (adjusted HR = 5.059, 95% CI: 2.166–11.818, P < 0.001) were independently associated with DFS. Conclusion: Preoperative breast MRI features may be associated with ANB and DFS in patients with early-stage breast cancer.

<P>Interfacial chemistry at organic-inorganic contact critically determines the function of a wide range of molecular and organic electronic devices and other systems. The chemistry is, however, difficult to understand due to the lack of easily accessible in-operando spectroscopic techniques that permit access to interfacial structure on a molecular scale. Herein, we compare two analogous junctions formed with identical organic thin film and different liquid top-contacts (water droplet vs eutectic gallium indium alloy) and elucidate the puzzling interfacial characteristics. Specifically, we fine-tune the surface topography of the organic surface using mixed self-assembled monolayers (SAMs): single component SAM composed of rectifier (2,2′-bipyridyl-terminated <I>n</I>-undecanethiolate; denoted as SC<SUB>11</SUB>BIPY) is systematically diluted with nonrectifying <I>n</I>-alkanethiolates of different lengths (denoted as SC<SUB><I>n</I></SUB> where <I>n</I> = 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18). Characterization of the resulting mixed SAMs in wettability and tunneling currents with the two separate liquid top-contacts allows us to investigate the role of phase segregation and gauche defect in the SAM//liquid interfaces. The results reported here show the difference in length between SC<SUB>11</SUB>BIPY and SC<SUB><I>n</I></SUB> is translated into nanoscopic pits and gauche-conformer defects on the surface, and the difference in contact force-hydrostatic vs user pressures-and hence conformity of contact account for the difference in wettability and rectification behaviors. Our work provides an insight into the role of molecule-electrode interfacial defects in performance of molecular-scale electronic devices.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak started in December 2019 that caused difficulties for clinical work. Practical work experience in our spinal outpatient and emergency department during the COVID-19 pandemic is summarized in this article, with combined evidence-based medical evidence to explore a standardized process of diagnosis and treatment for spinal diseases. Outpatient reservation, continuous screening, triage, and isolation, first consultation accountability system, pandemic reporting system, and online revisit were strictly followed. We hope that our experience in prevention and control of COVID-19 can help spine surgeons globally in stopping the spread of COVID-19. Spine surgeons should collaborate with infection control specialists to avoid cross-infection in hospitals and optimize treatment.

The in situ rate of urea degradation was measured in the euphotic zone of three reservoirs located in the Han River System, The daily rate of urea degradation(i. e., sum of the incorporation rate of urea carbon into the particulate organic matter and the liberation rate of urea carbon into the water as carbon dioxide) in surface water was 14μmol urea·m^-3.day^-1 in Lake Soyang, 43μmol urea ·m^-3.day^-1 in Lake Chungju and 49μmol urea·m^-3.day^-1 in Lake Paldang. There was no change at various depths. The greater part of urea degradation took place during the the phase of carbon dioxide liberation. In the light, an appreciable amount of urea degradation was incorporated into phytoplankton cells, but this was extremely low in the dark condition. High correlation coefficients were obtained between urea degradation rate and photosynthesis or photosynthetic carbon assimilation rate by unit amount of chlorophyll-a. The residence time of urea in surface water was respectively estimated as 9, 2 and 9 days in Lakes Soyang, Chundu and Paldang. The present results suggest that in reservoirs the urea degradation occurred in connection with photosynthetic activity and that its has an important contribution as one of the nitrogen source for phytoplankton population. The brief residence time of urea indicates that the urea is a rapidly recycled from of biogeochemical parameter.

The design concept of a Small High-flux Multipurpose LBE(Lead Bismuth Eutectic) cooled Fast Reactor (SHMLFR) was proposed in the paper. The primary cooling system of the reactor is forced circulation, and the fuel element form is arc-plate loaded high enrichment MOX fuel. The core is cylindrical with a flux trap set in the center of the core, which can be used as an irradiation channel. According to the requirements of the core physical design, a series of physical design criteria and constraints were given, and the steady and transient parameters of the reactor were calculated and analyzed. Regarding the thermal and hydraulic phenomena of the reactor, a simplified model was used to conduct a preliminary analysis of the fuel plates at special positions, and the temperature field distribution of the fuel plate with the highest power density under different coolant flow rates was simulated. The results show that the various parameters of SHMLFR meet the requirements and design criteria of the physical design of the core and the thermal design of the reactor. This implies that the conceptual design of SHMLFR is feasible

Tripod-shaped liquid crystals with sp3 nigrogen at the apex were prepared from triethanolamine. Their physical properties were investigated by using optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X-ray diffraction measurements. The XRD study suggests that the tripod-shaped molecules show the 2D-ordered phase of either the frustrated smectic layer structure or discotic columnar phases.
