        Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare neoplasm that arises from the mesothelium of a serosal cavity and is a rapidly fatal disease with a median survival of 4 to 12 months for untreated cases. Recently, we experienced a case with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma who was suspected hepatocelluar carcioma by abdominal CT scan and was confirmed by biopsy including immunohistochemical stain(calretinin) after surgery. We performed tumor excisions and wedge resection of the liver(segment Ⅷ)and inserted Tencoff catheter in abdominal cavity at 25th day of post-operation. We treated with intraperitoneal paclitaxel(25mg/m^(2)/day for 5 days) six courses monthly. She was well tolerable and is still living without any evidence of recurrence for 14th month of post-operation.

        As a result of separating river sand and sea sand into the corrosion increased according to the of thinnss or the coating and the Chloride Content and Corrosion of Steel Bar through the experiment, the following conclusions are obtained. 1. There was no corrosion in the case of treating the steel bar with anticorrosive among test specimens cured in the air for 60 days, corrosion was found in the test specimens not treated with anticorrosive and for 60 days of age. 2. The area of corrosion increased according to the thinnss of the coating and the chloride content wher exposed for are more than 60 days. Therefore, it was determined in general that the corrosion progressed more rapidly in water cured specimens than in air cured ones and this was due to the influence of C1_( ̄) in the sea sand.

      • Polymer Light Emitting Diode의 발광특성 연구 : A study on electoluminescence properties of PLED with poly [2-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-5-methoxy-1,4-phenylenevinylene]

        In order to know how the [2-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-5-methoxy-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (MEH-PPV) layer works in organic light emitting diode, two different types of devices were fabricated, which are MEH-PPV single layer devices and MEH-PPV/tris (8-hydroxy-quinoline)aluminium(Alq3) bilayer devices. On the indium-tin-oxide(ITO) glass anode MEH-PPV layer was first spin-coated, and the Alq3 layer and the aluminium(Al) anode were vapor-deposited sequentially. The devices shows a trend that has lower current, luminous efficiency in case the thickness of the device is larger. Some bilayer devices, however, show more improved performance than other devices of smaller total thickness. This results were discussed on the basis of improved exciton formation resulting from balanced carrier transport.

        비부비동 반정성 유두종의 전산화 단층촬영상과 자기공명영상의 분석

        Background: Computed tomography (CT) is commonly used to evaluate the degree of sinus involvement in case of inverted papilloma (IP). However, CT cannot differentiate tumor from adjacent inflammatory mucosa or retained secretions. By contrast, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been reported to be useful in distinguishing IP from paranasal sinusitis. This study investigated whether preoperative assessment with MRI and CT accurately predict the extent of IP. Materials and methods: CT and MRI were retrospectively reviewed in 9 case of IP. Patients were categorized into staged based on CT and MRI findings according to the staging system proposed by Krouse. The involvement of IP in each sinus was also assessed. Results: Differentiation of IP from inflammatory disease may be more successful in routine case where the inflammatory mucosa has low signal intensity on T1-weighted images and very high signal intensity on T2-weighted images. CT imaging could not differentiate tumor from adjacent inflammatory mucosa or retained secretions. Conclusion: Preoperative MRI of IP can predict the location and extent of the tumor involvement in the paranasal sinuses and sometimes predicts malignant changes.

        Fractal Dimension of Peripapillary Vasculature in Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma

        Purpose: To compare the fractal dimensions of the peripapillary microvasculature as obtained by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) between primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and controls. Methods: Optic nerve head and peripapillary area images were taken using the 20° × 20°-scan of Spectralis OCTA (Heidelberg Engineering) in 97 subjects (64 POAG patients, 33 control patients). The optic nerve head microvasculature was evaluated according to predefined slabs: the superficial vascular complex (SVC) and the avascular complex (AVC). The en face image of each slab was processed by ImageJ software (National Institutes of Health) in order to calculate the vessel density and the fractal dimension using the box-counting method. For comparison, the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness was obtained from Spectralis OCT circle scans. The utilities of the parameters for discriminating between the POAG and control groups were assessed using areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs). Results: The SVC fractal dimension was lower in the POAG than in the control group (p < 0.001), while AVC showed no intergroup difference (p = 0.563). The fractal dimension showed a good correlation with the vessel density in both SVC and AVC (both p < 0.001). In a multivariable regression analysis, the SVC fractal dimension was negatively correlated with age (p < 0.001) and axial length (p < 0.001) and positively correlated with average RNFL thickness (p < 0.001), while the AVC fractal dimension was positively correlated with the Bruch’s membrane opening size (p = 0.013). In terms of diagnostic utility, the AUC was significantly larger for the average RNFL thickness (AUC, 0.889) than for the SVC fractal dimension (AUC, 0.772; p = 0.008). Conclusions: The fractal dimension of SVC was associated with the average RNFL thickness and was reduced in POAG patients. Fractal dimension analysis could be used in evaluating peripapillary vascularity by OCTA.

        지상-우주 레이저 연구를 위한 큐브위성 CLUB(CNU Laser Unity Bus)의 임무 중심 개념설계

        본 논문에서 우리는 여러 지상-우주 레이저 어플리케이션의 통합 인프라를 제공하는 ‘충남대학교 레이저통합 버스’(Chungnam National University Laser Unity Bus, CLUB) 큐브위성의 컨셉을 소개한다. 오늘날뉴스페이스 시대에 들어 우주공간의 활용이 급속도로 확대되면서 전파의 한계가 드러나기 시작했고, 수행하는 임무들이 다양해짐에 따라 대체 가능한 수단인 레이저가 주목 받고 있다. 레이저는 지상과 우주공간사이에서 인공위성 레이저 거리측정(satellite laser ranging, SLR), 레이저 무기, 레이저 통신 등 다양한 응용분야에 이용할 수 있다. 하지만 지상과 우주공간 사이에서 사용되는 레이저는 지구 대기의 상당한 영향을 받게 된다. 이에 레이저 전파에 영향을 미치는 대기효과에 대한 이해가 필수적으로 요구된다. 특히 레이저의 전파 방향을 굴절시키고 파면을 왜곡시키는 대기 난류는 지상과 가까워질수록 강해지기 때문에 하향링크에 비해 상향링크에 더 큰 영향을 미친다. 하향링크의 경우 지상에서 검출할 수 있기 때문에 검증이용이한 반면, 상향링크의 경우 우주공간에서 검출해야 하는 어려움 때문에 검증에 어려움이 있다. 이에 우리는 상향링크의 레이저 전파에 대한 이해를 돕고 검증하기 위한 큐브위성의 아이디어를 제안한다. 또한체계적인 큐브위성 개발을 위해 시스템공학의 진행단계에 따라 CLUB 큐브위성의 임무설계를 중심으로요구사항을 분석하여 개념설계를 진행한 결과를 제시한다. In this paper, we introduce the concept of the cube satellite Chungnam National University Laser Unity Bus (CLUB), which can provide an integrated infrastructure for various ground-space laser applications. With the advent of the new space era, the rapid expansion of space utilization has begun to reveal the limitations of conventional radio frequencies. As space missions diversify, lasers are garnering attention as a viable alternative. Between ground and space, lasers are applied in various fields including satellite laser ranging (SLR), laser weapons, and laser communication. However, laser used between the ground and space are significantly influenced by the Earth’s atmosphere. Consequently, understanding the atmospheric effects on laser propagation is crucial. In particular, atmospheric turbulence, which refracts and distorts laser beams, intensifies closer to the Earth’s surface, exerting a greater impact on the uplink than on the downlink. While downlink verification is facilitated by ground detection, verifying the uplink poses challenges due to the necessity of space-based detection. In response to these challenges, we propose the idea of cube satellite as a means to enhance understanding and verification of laser propagation in the uplink. Additionally, we present the results of conceptual design by analyzing requirements, focusing on mission design of the CLUB cube satellite, following the stages of systems engineering for systematic cube satellite development.

      • Synthesis of Centimeter-Scale Monolayer Tungsten Disulfide Film on Gold Foils

        <P>We report the synthesis of centimeter-scale monolayer WS<SUB>2</SUB> on gold foil by chemical vapor deposition. The limited tungsten and sulfur solubility in gold foil allows monolayer WS<SUB>2</SUB> film growth on gold surface. To ensure the coverage uniformity of monolayer WS<SUB>2</SUB> film, the tungsten source-coated substrate was placed in parallel with Au foil under hydrogen sulfide atmosphere. The high growth temperature near 935 °C helps to increase a domain size up to 420 μm. Gold foil is reused for the repeatable growth after bubbling transfer. The WS<SUB>2</SUB>-based field effect transistor reveals an electron mobility of 20 cm<SUP>2</SUP> V<SUP>–1</SUP> s<SUP>–1</SUP> with high on–off ratio of ∼10<SUP>8</SUP> at room temperature, which is the highest reported value from previous reports of CVD-grown WS<SUB>2</SUB> samples.       • Sofosbuvir and Ribavirin for Genotype 2 HCV Infected Patients: A Real Life Experience in Multiinstitution

        Aims: Sofosbuvir (SOF) and weight-based ribavirin (RBV) representd the only standard of care in hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 2 patients in Korea. Previous clinical trials showed about 90% sustained virological response at 12 weeks (SVR12). The purpose of this study is to reveal the real life experience of treatment and safety in Korean patients with HCV genotype 2 infection. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of chronic HCV genotype 2 patients treated with SOF + RBV from May 2016 to April 2017 at eight hospitals located in the Daejeon-Chungcheong area. Results: A total of 165 patients were treated with SOF + RBV. Of them, 107 patients who reached SVR12 were analyzed for treatment efficacy and safety. Mean age was 58.8±11.9 years (43-82) and 72 patients (67.3%) were female. 29 (27.1%) had cirrhotic change and 15 of them were treated for 16 weeks. SOF + RBV was the first-line treatment for 96 (89.7%) patients. Six (5.6%) and five (4.7%) patients were intolerant to interferon and relapsed after previous treatment that included interferon, respectively. During treatment, 10 patients (9.3%) experienced RBV reduction because of anemia. Adverse events such as dizziness, indigestion, itching, rash was found in 17 (15.9%) patients and no patient did not stop the treatment. HCV RNA was not detected after first 4 weeks in all patients and SVR12 was 100%. Conclusions: SOF + RBV treatment had excellent treatment efficacy and tolerable side effects for patients with HCV 2 infection in Korea.

        현대 남성패션에 나타난 성 정체성의 표현양상

        The purpose of this thesis is to study the aspects of sex identity in the contemporary men's fashion expressed through sexual image and taste in the latter half of twentieth century. The aspects of sex identity expression in the contemporary men's fashion can be classified by image, that is, homosexual, heroic, bisexual, and fetish. 1. The homosexual image has shown the tendency to emphasize the masculinity since 1950·60's. It can be found in 'Cowboys costume' which is typical of American traditional fashion, and jeans and underwear fashion expressed by muscular men has homosexual characteristics which contain narcissism. 2. Based on men's traditional gender role, the heroic image emphasizes men's physical characteristics and expresses tough and offensive masculine beauty in men's suit which is free from the authority and formality. 3. The bisexual image denied the division of gender role by costume and destroyed the traditional sex model by resolutely applying women's costume such as skirts to men's fashion. 4. The fetish image is similar to bisexual image in that they wear women s costume, but different in that it expresses sexual desire or fantasy. It is expressed through brilliant color, leather and metal ornaments, and sensual element of women which emphasizes "body". This shows the sex identity of contemporary men who want more sensible and free life.
