        To ascertain the effects of hair dyeing application on oxidative stress in human, a mixture of permanent black colored hair dye with the same amount of oxidant containing 6% hydrogen peroxide was used. A hair dyeing with contacting the scalp(conventional dyeing) and a hair dyeing with 3 to 4mm away from the scalp(alternative dyeing) were applied to each 15 young healthy women. Blood was taken from the brachial vein at two sampling times, just before and 6 hours after the hair dyeing, and antioxidant enzyme activities and antioxidant contents were measured in red blood cells. After increased, malondialdehyde(MDA) contents for conventional dyeing group was shown to a tendence for more increased than alternative dyeing group. After dyeing, reduced glutathione(GSH) contents for conventional dyeing group was shown to a tendence of more decreased than alternative dyeing group. After dyeing, superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) activities were significantly decreased in conventional dyeing group(p<0.01), however, SOD and CAT activities were not significantly decreased in alternative dyeing group. After dyeing, there was no significant decrease in glutathione peroxidase(GPX) activity both for conventional dyeing group and alternative dyeing group. Therefore, after dyeing, the degree of oxidative stress in red blood cells for alternative dyeing group was appeared to be lower than conventional dyeing group.

      • 염모제 사용에 의한 인체림프구의 DNA 손상 변화

        To ascertain the effects of hair dyeing application on the DNA damage in human lymphocytes, a mixture of permanent black colored hair dye with the same amount of oxidant containing 6% hydrogen peroxide was used. A hair dyeing with contacting the scalp(conventional dyeing) and a hair dyeing with 3 to 4mm away from the scalp(alternative dyeing) were applied to each 15 young healthy women. Blood was taken from the brachial vein at two sampling times, just before and 6 hours after the hair dyeing, and tail extent moment(TEM) and tail length(TL) were measured by using a comet assay. After dyeing, TL was significantly increased in both conventional dyeing group and alternative dyeing group compared with before dyeing as an average of 47% and 28%, respectively, and TL for conventional dyeing group was higher than alternative dyeing group as an average of 1.2 fold. After dyeing, TEM was significantly increased in both conventional dyeing group and alternative dyeing group compared with before dyeing as an average of 192% and 76% respectively, and TEM for conventional dyeing group was significantly higher than alternative dyeing group as an average of 1.7 fold. Therefore, alternative dyeing application was induced to lower lymphocyte DNA damage than conventional dyeing application, and TEM was appeared to be a more sensitive tool for the measurement of lymphocyte DNA damage than TL in this study.

      • 해면 Hymeniacidon sinapium의 Lipid 성분 연구

        일반적으로 해양 생물에는 육지 생물에 비해 훨씬 다양하고 특이한 구조의 sterol과 지방산이 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 한국산 해면(Hymeniacidon sinapium)으로부터 2개의 sterol 성분을 얻었는데 주 sterol 성분은 탄소가 27개인 5α-Cholestan-3β-ol였으며 cholesterol도 소량 발견되었다. 또한 팔미틴산, 팔미토레인산, 올레인산, 스테아린산, 리놀레인산, arachidonic acid ethyl ester가 발견되었다. 이외에도 dioctyl phthalate, bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate가 검출되었는데 이것은 일반적으로 흔히 사용되는 plastic의 가소제이기 때문에 순수한 대사물질로 보기는 어렵고 해양 오염에 인한 것으로 추정된다. There has been a continuing interest in the sterols and fat related compounds of marine organisms. The most exciting results of recent studies have been the characterization of polyunsaturated fatty acids and a host of novel sterols, many with unique alkylation patterns in the side chain. The Korean Sea marine sponge Hymeniacidon sinapium was shown to contain 5α-Cholestan-3β ol along with minor amount of cholesterol. Further elution with more polar solvent gave palmitic, palmitoleic, oleic, stearic, linolenic, and arachidonic acid ethyl ester. Dioctyl phthalate and bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate were also identified from the extracts of Hymeniacidon sinapium, but they may be not de nevo metabolites, rather from the contaminants from plasticizer.

      • The Oxidative Stress by Hair Dyeing Changes the Antioxidant Defense Systems and Strongly Relates to the Plasma Vitamin E Concentration

        Reactive oxygen species can be generated in the skin by hair dyeing. The aim of this study was to find out the effects of the oxidative-type hair dye application in young women on the antioxidant systems. We investigated the lipid peroxide levels, glutathione (GSH) levels, and the antioxidant enzyme activities including superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSHPx) in plasma and erythrocytes and catalase (CAT) in erythrocytes, and DNA damages in lymphocytes. Also, plasma concentrations of antioxidant vitamins, vitamin A and E, were measured and the correlations between various antioxidant parameters and oxidative damages were evaluated The antioxidant enzyme activities in plasma (GSHPx) and in erythrocytes (SOD and CAT) were decreased significantly after hair dyeing. 1be lipid peroxide and GSH levels were not affected in both plasma and erythrocytes. No significant difference was found in the concentrations of both vitamin A and E between before and after hair dyeing. However, DNA damages expressed as the tail extent moment (TEM) and tail length (TL) were significantly (p<0.001) increased. The plasma vitamin E concentration was correlated with DNA damages (TEM: r=-0.590, p<0.01 and TL: r=-0.533. p<0.01) and RBC SOD activity (r=0.570, p<0.05). In turn, RBC SOD activity was significantly correlated with both plasma MDA levels (r=-0.412, p<0.05) and DNA damages (TM: r=-0.546, p<0.01, TL: r=-0.493, p<0.01). Our results demonstrated that the exposure to hair dyeing produced lymphocyte DNA damage and modification of the antioxidant enzyme activities. Also, there were very strong associations between plasma vitamin E concentration, RBC SOD activity and DNA damage induced by hair dyeing. It suggests that the antioxidant status of a subject is likely to be related to the extent of the harmful effects caused by hair dyeing.

        한국 기혼여성의 일상적 삶의 질 향상에 관한 연구 (3) : 한국 기혼여성의 삶의 질 향상을 위한 프로그램 개발 연구 Development of A Program for the Enhancement of Korean Married Women's Quality of Life

        The purpose of this study was to develop a program for the enhancement of Korean married women's quality of life(LQ) based on the results of the first year study(1996) and the second year research(1998). In order to construct a program, a psycological type test was conducted to 505 women and four preliminary programs were carried out focusing on self-esteem, understanding of one's own personality dynamics, efficient communication, positive emotion, social belongingness and expressions of feelings of unfinished business. For the final program, Jung's theory of psychological type(MBTI), Satir's family therapy approach and psychodrama were applied. An experimental and a control group were designed consisting 16 women for each group. The program was carried out for 6 weeks for the experimental group. The result of treatment were as follows: l)There was a difference statistically in LQ related to family harmony, self-achievement and improvement of relationship with in-laws. 2)There was a statistical change in psychological factors of expression of feelings, self-esttem, communication, and positive emotions. 3) The program participants self reports indicate that the program was effective for the reconstruction of family relationship, self-understanding, group coherence, and instillation of hope. The reports also shows that the program was effective for the perceptual changes in parent-child, wife-husband and siblings' relationships. In conclusion, the program developed for the enhancement of Korean married women's life quality(LQ) based on the Jung's psychological type theory, Satir's family therapy approach and psychodrama was effective for the improvement of LQ.

        한국 기혼여성의 일상적 삶의 질 향상에 관한 연구 (2) : 한국 기혼여성의 삶의 질 실태 및 영향 요인 The level of The Quality of Life and It's Influential Factors

        This study explores the life quality(LQ) of Korean married women compared to Korean married men's LQ, examines personal factors' and home environmental factors' influences to Korean married women's LQ via psychological factors such as social belongingness, positive emotion, self-esteem, and sense of internal control in causal model, and explores Korean married women's perceived important factors and perceived enhancement required factors in life. The questionnaire was administered to 941 Korean married women and their husbands who have one or more children in Pusan. The results indicated that: 1. The overall and most sub dimensional LQ of Korean married women mark medium level and were lower than that of Korean married men's. Korean married women who is highly educated, keeps efficient communication with their husband, self-esteem, sense of internal control, social belongingness, and positive emotion, and possess high SES and much available resources shows higher LQ than those who doesn't. 2. The efficient communication with husband and available resources have direct and indirect influences on Korean married women's LQ. The psychological mediatory factors of these two variables' influences on women's LQ are such as social belongingness, positive emotion, self-esteem and sense of internal control. SES has direct influence only and the educational level has indirect influence via social belongingness only on Korean married women's LQ. All these factors explain 58% of Korean married women's LQ variance. 3. Korean married women rank family health, family reconciliation, husband's success, and children's achievement as the very important factors in life. They also rank husband's success, economic abundant , family reconciliation, family health, and their self-actualization as the very required factors for enhancing the given LQ.

        저자들은 한국산 해산해면 동물의 분류 및 분포를 밝힐 목적으로 1974년 5월부터 1975년 6월까지 동·서·남해 연안과 여러 도서 지방으로 부터 채집한 표본들과 1969년부터 1973년까지 삼면 연안으로 부터 채집된 재료들 중 미해결로 보유하고 있던 표본들을 동정분류 하였다(Textfig. 1). 1) 표본들 중 동정분류된 한국산 해산 해면동물은 모두 3강 8목 20과 31속 44종이다. 이중 27종은 기지종이며 다음 17종은 한국 미기록종이다. Grantessa mitsukurii, Leucandra mitsukurii, Pachastrella japonica, Suberites microstomus, Latrunculia ikematsui, Spirastrlla panis, Axinell copiosa, Axinella tenuis, Ceratopsis clavata, Phakellia elegans, Auletta halichondroides, Iotrochota baculifera, Clathria terranova, Paresperella undulata, Tetrapocillon kurushimensis, Raspailia folium 및 Callyspongia confoederata. 2) 현재까지 동정분류된 한국산 해산해면류는 석회해면강에 속하는 2과 4속 5종과 육방해면강에 1과 1속 1종, 그리고 보통해면강에 19과 30속 50종이 밝혀 있는 셈이다. A total specimens of Korean marine sponges was classified into 20 families, 31 genera and 44 species, of which 17 species was found to be new to the Korean fauna. The authors briefly deseribed to the 17 species which were newly recorded.

        著者들은 1969年 5月부터 1971年 8月까지 남한의 10個地域(濟州島, 楸子群島, 九龍浦, 巨濟島, 麗水, 突山島, 庇仁, 安仁津, 墨湖, 丑山)으로부터 채집된 未知種을 同定한 結果 11科, 13屬, 14種으로 分類되었다. 이들 중 6種 즉 Ute armata, Euplectella marshalli, Anchioe purpurea, Clathria spinispiclar, Raspailia hirsuta, and Tethya amamensis 들은 韓國未記錄種이었으며 이들에 대하여 상세히 기술하였다. The materials were obtained by the authors from off Jeju-do, Chujakun-do, Kuryonpo, Goje-do Yeosu, Tolsan-do, Mukho, Aninjin, Chuksan and Biin of South Korea during the period from May 1969 to August 1971. The results of the identification were found to be 14 species, 13 genera and 11 families, of which six species, Ute armata, Euplectella marshalli, Anchioe purpurea, Clathria spinispiclar, Raspailia hirsuta, and Tethya amamensis are new records in the Korean sponge fauna. Each is fully described and illustrated.
