Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are common mesenchymal tumors that arise in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract. We report a case of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding due to a GIST of the jejunum successfully documented by videocapsule endoscopy (VCE) and single-balloon enteroscopy (SBE). A 36-year-old man with hematochezia was referred for further evaluation of no evidence of bleeding focus on esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy. A VCE showed a suspicious ulcerative hyperemic mass that located in about 1 hour apart from duodenal second portion. SBE revealed a nonbleeding 4×2 cm mass with an ulcer at the proximal jejunum. The patient underwent laparoscopic resection without complication. Histological examination revealed a well circumscribed, dumbbell-shaped firm mass comprised of spindle cells. Immunohistochemical staining for CD 117 was diffusely positive, whereas staining for S-100, CD 34 and MIB-1 was all negative. It was confirmed to be a low-grade GIST at the proximal jejunum.
Leaf Rot and Leaf Ring Spot Caused by Rhizoctonia solani in Chinese Cabbage

This study was conducted to determine the occurrence of leaf rot and leaf ring spot, caused by Rhizoctonia solani in Chinese cabbage under seedling nursery and cultivation greenhouses. Symptoms of leaf rot and leaf ring spot were found in three Chinese cabbage cultivars, Brassica campestris subsp. pekinensis, 'Ryeokgwang', 'Daetong', and 'CR mat'. In Hwacheon, the disease incidence was 73.8% in the seedling stage of the Chinese cabbage. In Icheon, the symptoms were observed on the upper leaves of the Chinese cabbage cultivar, 'Norangmini' with 20.5% of disease incidence. The symptoms appeared as primary lesions consisting of small, circular necrotic ring spots with gray color, 1.4-3.0 mm in diameter, accompanied by secondary rot lesions with large irregular borders of leaves. The color of mycelial mat of 20 isolates was dark brown and light brown. The average hyphal diameter of all the isolates was within 5.01-11.12 ${\mu}m$. Among the 20 strains isolated from Chinese cabbage, 16 isolates and four isolates anastomosed with the AG-1 (IB) and AG-1 (IC), respectively. Twenty isolates tested were only virulent on foliage parts of Chinese cabbage leaves but were avirulent on stem parts of the plants. Based on the mycological characteristics and pathogenicity test on host plants, the fungus was identified as Rhizoctonia solani.
환경오염산업에서 설비투자에 따른 환경규제가 교역에 미치는 영향

오염피난처가설 관련 최근의 실증연구는 기존의 연구가 동 가설을 실증적으로 입증하지 못하는 원인을 규명하는데 초점을 맞추어 진행되고 있다. 이러한 연구는 주로 미국의 교역 및 환경규제 관련 데이터를 이용해 이루어졌고, 최근 일본의 데이터를 이용한 연구가 진행된 바 있다. 본 연구는 기존의 연구와 맥락을 같이하여,분석대상을 환경규제가 상대적으로 느슨한 비OECD국가그룹으로 선정했을 때 우리나라에서도 오염피난처가설이 성립함을 보여주고 있다. 또한 환경오염산업에서 환경규제의 강화가 교역에 미치는 한계효과가 생산 대비 설비투자 규모가 큰 산업일수록 약해진다는 현상을 규명하고 정책적 시사점을 제시하고 있다. Recent studies have focused on explaining why the effect of environmental regulations on trade may be difficult to detect. U.S. data in those studies have mostly been used for the analysis because it has the pollution abatement cost data for a significant time. This study finds that firstly, Korea`s environmental regulations do influence its trade pattern in pollution-intensive industries when non-OECD countries are selected as Korea`s trading partners, and second, an increase in environmental costs has a small effect on net imports in industries with high costs for property, plant and equipment per production.
Advantages of omics technology for evaluating cadmium toxicity in zebrafish

In the last decade, several advancements have been made in omics technologies and they have been applied extensively in diverse research areas. Especially in toxicological research, omics technology can efficiently and accurately generate relevant data on the molecular dynamics associated with adverse outcomes. Toxicomics is defined as the combination of toxicology and omics technologies and encompasses toxicogenomics, toxicoproteomics, and toxicometabolomics. This paper reviews the trend of applying omics technologies to evaluate cadmium (Cd) toxicity in zebrafish (D. rerio). Cd is a toxic heavy metal posing several environmental concerns; however, it is being used widely in everyday life. Zebrafish embryos and larvae are employed as standard models for many toxicity tests because they share 71.4% genetic homology with humans. This study summarizes the toxicity of Cd on the nerves, liver, heart, skeleton, etc. of zebrafish and introduces detailed omics techniques to understand the results of the toxicomic studies. Finally, the trend of toxicity evaluation in the zebrafish model of Cd based on omics technology is presented.

Chorea is an uncommon movement disorder of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and/or antiphospholipid syndrome (APLS). It frequently develops early in the course of SLE and is not recurrent in most patients. In this report, we presented the clinical features of two cases of recurrent chorea secondary to APLS associated with SLE. A 24 year-old woman with SLE for 10 years was admitted because of choreic movement involved both extremities, facial and neck muscles. She had the same episode 1.5 years ago. Laboratory investigation showed increment in SLE activity, prolongation of aPTT without correction by mixing with normal plasma, and positive lupus anticoagulant. Brain MRI and SPECT revealed no evidence of ischemic change. The second case, a 36-year-old lady with SLE for 8 years, was admitted due to recurrent dysarthria. On physical examination, she had choreic movement involved neck and tongue. The activity of her disease increased and lupus anticoagulant was positive. Brain MRI showed infarct in insular cortex and multiple high signals in the frontal and occipital lobes. In both cases, haloperidol rapidly brought their symptom under control. We describe the first cases of secondary APLS-related recurrent movement disorder in Korea and review the literatures.

Primary lymphoma of the kidney is rare, and in most cases is attributable to lymphomatous renal infilitration of systemic non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or an extension from an adjacent site of the disease. Since the renal parenchyma is not a lymphoid organ, the mechanism by which renal lymphoma occur remains poorly understood. We report here a case of primary bilateral B-cell renal lymphoma in 26-year- old man who was treated successfully with combination chemotherapy.
