The crystal structure of the saliciline derivatives 4-chloro-2{[(2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)amino]methyl}5-methylphenol ($C_{15}H_{15}ClNO_2$) has been determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data. In the title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with unit cell dimension $a=11.5241(2){\AA}$, $b=8.733(2){\AA}$ and $c=13.649(2){\AA}$ [${\alpha}=90^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=130.876(2)^{\circ}$ and ${\gamma}=90^{\circ}$]. the title compound are essentially planar conformation. The compound lies across a crystallographic inversion centre and adopts E configurations with respect to the C-N bonds. The crystal packing of the molecules of compound is stabilized through weak O-H...O inter molecular interactions.

To investigate the effect of aircraft traffic emissions on soil pollution, metal levels were analyzed for 8metals (Fe, Cr, Pb, Zn, Cu, Ni, Mn and Cd) from the vicinity of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi, India. The texture of the airport soil was observed to be sandy. Among the metals, Cd showed minimum concentration (2.07 μg g-1), while Fe showed maximum concentration (4379 μg g-1). The highest metal accumulation was observed at the landing site. Significant correlations were observed between metals and different textures (sand, silt, and clay) as well as with organic carbon (OC). The results indicate that grain size play a major role in OC retention in soil and subsequently helps in adsorption of metals in soil. Müller’s geoaccumulation index (I-geo)showed that airport soil was contaminated due to Cd and Pb with the pollution class 2 and 1, respectively. Pollution load index of the airport site was 1.34-3times higher than the background site. The results of factor analysis suggested that source of the soil metal is mainly from natural weathering of soil, aircraft exhaust, and automobile exhaust from near by area. With respect to Dutch target values, the airport soils showed ~3 times higher Cd concentration. The study highlighted the future risk of enhanced metal pollution with respect to Cd and Pb due to aircraft trafficking.

Pyrazole, ${\beta}$-lactam, salicidine, pyren and oxazole derivatives exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antitumor activities. With growing application on their synthesis and bioactivity, chemists and biologists in recent years have considerable attention on the research of these derivatives. In the view of potential importance of these derivatives, we have crystallized few of the derivatives and its report has been published. The present study focuses on docking studies of these derivatives against COX-2 enzyme. Docking studies using Schrodinger's GLIDE reveals that these derivatives shows better binding energy and score in the defined active site. These results may provide a guiding role to design a lead molecule which may reduce inflamation.

Fibrinolytic enzyme producing microorganismswith high fibrin specificity were screened, including lacticacid bacteria from fermented soybean foods of North-EastIndia. A total of 5 isolates, including Lactococcus lactis(FS1), Vagococcus lutrae (FS6), Vagococcus fluvialis(FS7), Weissella thailandensis (FS8), and Bacillus methylotrophicus(FS19) were found to hydrolyze fibrin directly ona plasminogen-free fibrin plate. Hydrolysis of fibrin wasstronger with crude enzymes than with plasmin, indicatinghigh fibrin specificity. The molecular weights of theseenzymes, as determined by SDS-PAGE, ranged from 35 to116 kDa.

The present investigation was conducted to assess lactic acid bacteria present in traditionally fermented food of ethnic tribes in India for probiotic properties, antibacterial activity, and antibiotic tolerance behavior. Enterococcus sp., Lactobacillus sp., and Lactococcus sp. showed antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus MTCC 430, Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus MTCC 740, and Salmonella enterica ser. paratyphi A MTCC 735. Lactococcus sp. and Lactobacillus sp. could tolerate acidic conditions (pH 2) and high bile salt concentration (4000 ppm). The lactic microflora were found to be sensitive to most common antibiotics, except for cloxacillin (5 μg), cephalexin (30 μg), and cephalothin (30 μg).

The posterior communicating arteries (PCoA) are important component of collateral circulation between the anterior and posterior part of circle of Willis (CW). The hypoplasia or aplasia of PCoA will reflect on prognosis of the neurological diseases. Precise studies of the incidence of hypoplastic PCoA in Andhra Pradesh population of India are hitherto unreported, since the present study was undertaken. Two hundred and thirty one magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) images were analyzed to identify the hypoplasia of PCoA and presence of fetal type of posterior cerebral artery (f-PCA) in patients with different neurological symptoms. All the patients underwent 3.0T MRI exposure. The results were statistically analysed. A total of 63 (27.3%) PCoA hypoplasia and 13 cases with f-PCA (5.6%) cases were identified. The hypoplastic PCoA was noted more in males than females (P<0.05) and right side hypoplasia was common than the left (P<0.04); bilateral hypoplasia of PCoA was seen in 37 cases out of 63 and is significant. The hypoplastic cases of the present study also were associated with variations of anterior cerebral arteries and one case was having vertebral artery hypoplasia. Incidence of PCoA as unilateral or bilateral with other associated anomalies of CW is more prone to develop stroke, migraine and cognitive dysfunction. Knowledge of these variations in the PCoA plays a pivotal role in diagnoses of neurological disorders and in neurovascular surgeries and angiographic point of view.

In the title compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group $P{\bar{i}}$ with unit cell dimension $a=4.6085(3){\AA}$, $b=5.9747(3){\AA}$ and $c=5.9747(3){\AA}$ [${\alpha}=83.889(4)^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=86.744(5)^{\circ}$ and ${\gamma}=82.085(5)^{\circ}$]. The title compound is essentially planar conformation. The compound lies across a crystallographic inversion centre and adopts E configurations with respect to the C-N bonds. The fermentation of medicinal herbs facilitated by microbes is assumed to exert promising therapeutic efficacy on the absorption, bioavailability, and pharmacological effects by speeding up the making or conversion of active constituents into their metabolites. We examined the cardioprotective potential of fermented ginseng, GBCK25, against high-fat diet (HFD)-induced metabolic and functional illnesses as following the essential analysis such as electrocardiographic parameters, alterations of body and organ weights, and echocardiographic studies. The results exhibited that body weights were significantly reduced and the gain of different organ weights were partly eased by GBCK25 treatment. Echocardiography results proposed the amelioration of heart function through normalized levels of left ventricle systolic pressure, ejection fraction, and fractional shortening. These outcomes deliver straight confirmation that GBCK25 could be a potential nutraceutical source for the relief of HFD-induced obesity mediated cardiac dysfunctions.

External jugular vein (EJV), a significant superficial vein draining head and neck (H&N) region is been increasingly used for cannulation in diverse diagnostic purposes and intravenous therapies. The variant anatomy of formation and draining patterns of EJV and retromandibular veins were reported earlier. In the present case, EJV showed significant variation in one of the male cadaver, during routine H&N dissection. On the left side, a fenestration of EJV was observed and the transverse cutaneous nerve of the neck was passing through the fenestration of the vein. Anatomical knowledge of EJV and retromandibular vein variations as found in this case is important for surgeons performing microvascular surgeries in H&N and also to the radiologists during their conventional radiological procedures like angioplasty, catheterization, and at times of hemodialysis in case of renal failure patients.
