A numeical and experimental study has been performed on heat transfer in square duct. The effects of distant P between dry solides and Reynolds number were studied numerically by Finite Element Method(F.E.M.) The experiment were studied according to F.E.M. analysis by Universal Digital Measuring system. The results of F.E.M. analysis and experimental are as follows. 1) Comparison between mumerical and experimental results showed good agreement. 2) Heat transfer increases according to decrease of the P/D ratio and increase of H/L ratio too.

A numerical and experimental study have been performed on the heat transfer in rectangular solid owned heat source. The effects of thermal conductivity k, heat transfer coefficient h, temperature of surrounding fluid To and the rate of heat flow Q were studied numerically by F. E. M. The experiment were studied by given rectangular solid. The results of F. E. M. and experimental are as follows. 1) The F. E. M. to calculate the temperature distribution in rectangular solid showed good agreement with experimental. 2) Thermal conductivity influenced strongly temperature distribution in the solid but heat transfer cofficient influenced only surface. 3) Temperature gradient in the solid was unconcerned by temperature of surrounding fluid and rate of heat flow but temperature in the solid changed at a fixed rate.

Skeletal cryptococcosis is an uncommon infection. Cryptococcus is a common cause of meningitis and infects 7∼10% of patients with AIDS. As well as AIDS, the infection may be seen in association with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, sarcoidosis, tuberculosis and diabetes, also in patients on steroid medication. But there is no case report of skeletal cryptococcosis following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. A 40-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of low back pain. She had chronic myelogenous leukemia for 2 years and underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation 8 months ago. She have been treated with steroid and cyclosporine orally because of chronic graft versus host disease. On examination she was afebrile and had posterior lower lumbar tenderness. But, she had no reduced strength of low extremities. Open biopsy was underwent. Histology demonstrated budding, round-to-oval, refractile yeast-like organisms within debris. The results of a lumbar puncture were unremarkable and cerebrospinal fluid culture failed to grow bacteria and yeast. The patient was treated with amphotericin B (1 gram) and AmBisome□ (2.8 gram) over 6 weeks. Three months after cessation of therapy, the patient was doing well.(Korean J Infect Dis 33:298∼301, 2001)

We performed costochondral grafting in mmandibular reconstruction including condyle replacement in 5 patients which have 4 cases of ameloblastoma, 1 case of resorption of left condyle due to osteomyelitis. We harvested the 6 th costochondral cartilage of unaffected side. No specific complications were appeared with unexpected fracture of costochondral junction and infection of operation site, These patients show 30-45mm at month opening, near normal of affected side, near normal or normal of unaffected side at lateral excursion. Postoperative coureses was uneventful with improved cosmetic and functional results. Our report is indicated that the costochondral graft is satisfactory to reconstruct mandibular defect including condyle replacement, especially in growing patients.

Abstract

A highly settleable microalga, Ettlia sp., was applied to a freshwater recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) of Danio rerio to improve the treatment of nitrogenous compounds. The growth characteristics of the microalgae, water quality parameters, and bacterial communities were monitored for 73 days. In the treatment RAS, the inoculated Ettlia sp. grew up to 1.26 g/L and dominated (>99%) throughout the experiment, whereas naturally occurring microalgae grew to 0.57 g/L in the control RAS. The nitrate, nitrite, and ammonium concentrations in the treatment RAS were reduced by 50.1%, 73.3%, and 24.2%, respectively, compared to the control RAS. A bacterial community analysis showed that Rhodospirillales, Phycisphaerae, Chlorobiales, and Burkholderiales were the major bacterial groups in the later phase of the treatment RAS. Meanwhile, a network analysis among the Ettlia sp., bacterial groups, and environmental parameters, revealed that the bacterial groups played key roles in both water quality improvement and Ettlia sp. growth. In conclusion, the inoculation and growth of the Ettlia sp. and its associated bacteria in the RAS produced beneficial effects on the water quality by reducing the nitrogenous compounds and providing a favorable environment for certain bacterial groups to further improve water quality.

Highlights

Settleable microalga Ettlia sp. was applied to RAS without increasing turbidity.

Ettlia sp. grew up to 1.26 g/L and reduced 24–73% of nitrogenous compounds.

Ettlia sp. induced stable and favorable bacterial community for its growth.

Detail relationships among aquatic structures were revealed by network analysis.

Water quality was improved by Ettlia sp. and its associated bacteria.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]
