        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        The mathematical theory of competitive running by Keller, which is based on the Newton's second law of motion, is applied to analyze the track records of the Asian and Korean athlets. In addition, the empirical formular proposed by Toots is used to represent the aver age speed of the runners for various races. The main conclusions arrived at are as follows. 1. According to the Keller theory, running at a constant speed is an optimum strategy throughout the races except the initial two seconds and the final 3 seconds, approximately, for distances greater than certain critical distances. But it is effective to run at a full speed with maximum propulsion, for the short distance sprints. 2. The critical distances obtained from the records are 291m for the World records, and 298 (320m for women) and 303m (330m for women) for Asian and Korean records, respectively. Thus the 400m race may be considered the reference item for the mid-range race. 3. Korean athletes show rather inferior physiological characteristics for the most cases analyzed, with the only exception for the oxygen supply rate of male athelets, which is somewhat greater than that of the Asian records. This may indicate a passilility of future development of superior mid and long distance runner from Korean athletes.

        한국 성인을 대상으로 한 전산화 Standard Progressive Matrices의 표준화 예비연구

        연구목적 : 전산화 Standard Progressive Matrices(SPM) 검사의 한국인 성인 표준자료를 확립함으로써, 간이로 지능을 평가하는 경우에도 보다 정확하게 지능지수를 추정하기 위해서 본 연구를 수행하였다. 방 법 : 18세 이상의 남녀 정상인 자원자 353명을 대상으로 전산화 SPM 검사를 시행하고, 백분율 및 표준점수(T-점수)를 기준으로 하여 표준화 자료를 작성하였다. 전체 대상군을 성별, 연령별로 구분한 후 평균과·분포가 유사한 집단은 군을 합치는 방법을 사용하였다. 한국인 표준자료에 근거하여 추정한 SPM 지능지수와 외국인 표준자료에 근거하여 추정한 SPM 지능지수를 각각 KWAIS 지능지수와 비교함으로써 타당도를 검증하였다. 결 과 : 18∼30세, 31∼40세, 41∼50세, 51세 이상의 연령군으로 구분된 한국 정상 성인의 SPM 표준화 자료를 산출하였다. 본 연구 결과에 의한 표준화 자료를 적용하여 지능지수를 추정하는 것이 현재 사용하고 있는 외국인의 표준화 자료를 이용하는 것보다 KWAIS 지능지수에 더욱 근접한 결과를 보였다. 결 론 : 18세에서 50세까지의 한국인 남녀에게는 간이지능평가도구로서 전산화 SPM 검사의 한국인 표준화 자료를 유용하고 타당하게 적용할 수 있음을 확인하였다. Objectives : We conducted this study to provide standardized data of the computerized Standard Progressive Matrices(SPM) test in Korean adults. Methods : The computerized SPM test was administered to 353 healthy volunteers aged 18 years over. We provided the standardized data(percentile and standardized T-scores) for the groups with similar mean and distribution of SPM scores, which was originally divided by age and sex. The validity of the new standardized data was tested by comparing IQs estimated by SPM and K-WAIS. Results : The standardized SPM data were provided for four age groups : 18 to 30 years, 31 to 40 years, 41 to 50 years, 51 years and over. IQ estimated by this standardized data tends to be closer to IQ by K-WAIS than the IQ estimated by foreign normative data. Conclusion : The standardized data of the computerized SPM were proven to be a useful and valid tool for measuring IQ briefly, compared with the conventional way of measuring IQ.

        The walking styles of 402 middle school students (male:218, female 184)were analyzed to provide basic, reference data for a right walking guidance. The author reached the following conclusions. 1. The left foot stepped more inside than the right one in the walking angle. 2. The girls stepped more inside than the boys. 3. The walking angle of the middle school students varied less, but were greater than those of the elementary ones. 4. Among the middle school students, boys had the longer vertical distance between both steps than girls, but this was not the case among elementary students. 5. The vertical distance between both steps of the middle school students was 1.00cm, 0.33cm longer in boys and in girls, respectively than those of the elementary students. 6. Through the aging the walking styles of the students varied from normal or step-inside group to step-outside. 7. Among the 27 walking styles, the style of walking with more than 0.5cm distance between both steps, with parallel steps, with stepping foot-inside, with stepping foot-outside, and with stepping right foot-parallel and left foot-inside was general, specifically among boys.

        Research Information Management System(RIMS) is developed not only to manage research project and program but also to support research information for researchers of Rural Development Admin-stration and Provincial Agricultural Research & Extension Services. Windows NT server and Oracle 7.0 were used for 05 and DBMS(Database Management System). And ASP and Delphi 5.0 program were used for con-necting DB and developing client program. RIMS was composed of research project management system, research product management system, human resource management system, and research raw-data manage-ment system.

        This paper represents the general interface methods of IBM-PC and it's peripheral devices and a 12bit A/D-D/A converter system that is indispensable to the processing of analog signal by the digital computer system, and then interfaces the IBM-PC XT/AT and it. The 12bit A/D-D/A converter system introduced in this paper was designed to converts analog signals with its highest frequency component less then 10㎑ to digital signal with the control of it's processing envirenments by it's software. And it is able to be expanded to the A/D, D/A converting system for signal with the more frequency component less then 100㎑ by the reconstruction of it's filter circuit and the replacement of A/D, D/A converter ICs with the more high speed conversion time on the basis of this system structure.

      • 男子中學生에 있어서 身體變因과 社會測定的 地位와의 關係

        Fifty eight randomly sampled boys(mean age:167.4 months)of Dong-san middle school in Daejeon served as subjects. The social status score of each subject was derived from acceptance scores on a sociometric questionaire for the friend criterion. According to the Heath-Carter method, the somatotype of each subject was determined on the basis of anthropometric measurements. One hundred meter dash, standing broad jump, throwing, pull-up, and sit-up test were used for the physical fitness assessment of each subject. Product-moment correlation coefficients and tratios were calculated to observe the relationship of physical variables to social status and their statistical significance. The authors reached the following conclusions: 1. The significant positive relationship exists between body weight and social status. 2. Height is not significantly related to social status. 3. The significant positive relationship exists between the mesomorphic component of anthropometric somatotype and social status. 4. The relationship of the endomorphic and the ectomorphic component to social status are not significant statistically. 5. Among the subfactors of physical fitness, power and coordination are positively related to social status. 6. Agility and muscular endurance are not significantly related to social status.

      • 우리나라에 있어서 中央政府와 地方政府間의 事務配分을 위한 연구

        Except for a short period, local governments have been a tool for successfully implementing policy decisions made by the central governments. Most of local functions have been delegated by the central governments and distinction between the original local functions and delegated ones has been obscured. The uncertain distribution of functions between central and local governments, however, has been paid little serious attention until recently. The establishment of the local council in 1991 and the prospective election of heads of local governments changed this situation. The central government exerts much efforts on not only clarifying the distribution of functions but also transferring more functions to local governments in order to enhance local autonomy. The efforts have not been successful so far. Because legal criteria are ambiguous and central government officials are unwilling to transfer their functions to local governments. In this vein, this study attempted to develop a list of central government and local government for the appropriate distribution of functions between the two levess of governments. Therefore, it must emphasized that the central government and local government should convert their traditional thought to the new one corresponding to the era of local autonomy.

        This paper proposes a measurement method for the surface of micro-parts by using AFM(Atomic Force Microscope). To this end, two techniques are presented to extend the capacity of AFM. First, the measurement range is extended by using an image matching method based on correlation coefficients. To account for the inaccuracy of the coarse stage implemented in AFM's, the image matching technique is applied to two neighboring images intentionally overlapped with each other. Second, a method to measure the shape of relatively large specimen is presented by using the inherent trigger mechanism due to the atomic force. The proposed method is proved effective through a series of experiments.

      • 벼 무논골뿌림栽培時 播種期 및 立毛數가 生育 및 收量에 미치는 影響

        This study was conducted to establish the cultural techniques of the puddled-soil drill seeding of race (Oryza sativa L.), which is one of the efficient labor saving cultural methods, in the central part of Korea. Seoanbyeo was seeded at three times from April 10 to May 20 with the 20 day interval in 1994. The number of seedling stands per m2 at each seeding date were 50, 90, 130 and 170. The tillering characteristics, lodging characters, dry matter production, yield components and yield were investigated. The number of days to the maximum tillering stage was reduced at the later seeding date. It was 70, 55 and 25 days in seedings on April 10, April 30 and May 20, respectively. The critical effective tillering stage was also shortened at the delayed seeding. The higher the number of seedling stands was, the higher number of tillers, the shorter duration to the maximum tillering stage and the earlier critical effective tillering stage were resulted. The number of tillers was higher at the earlier seeding date. The number of tillers was increased in the order of 50, 90, 130 and 170 seedling stands per m2. The ratios of effective tillers were 53, 61 and 63% at seeding on April 10, April 30 and May 20, respectively. The ratios were not significantly different at April 10. But the ratios in seeding on April 30 and May 20 were reduced as the number of seedling stands was increased. The weight of stem base related to lodging was the highest with 2.01g/10 plants in the optimum seeding on April 30, while it was 1.59g/10 plants in the late seeding on May 20. It was also decreased as the number of seedling stands was increased. The dry weights at 30 days before the heading stage were increased at the later seeding, while the dry weight at the heading stage was the highest at seeding on April 30 which is considered as the adequate seeding time. The dry weights at 30 days before the heading stage were increased as the number of seedling stands was increased and they were increased up to 130 seedling stands per m2 at the heading stage. The length of panicle exsertion was shortened at the later seeding. The length of panicle exsertion was increased up to 130 seedling stands. but it was shorter at 170 seedling stands. The heading dates were later at seeding on April 30 and May 20 than at seeding on April 10. They were not remarkedly different among seeding dates at 50 seedling stands, it was earlier at the higher number of seedling stands over 90. The number of spikelets per panicle was decreased at the higher number of seedling stands. The ratio of ripened grains was higher at earlier seeding than at later seeding. It was not significantly different among the number of seedling stands at the same seeding time. Yields at seeding on April 30, April 10 and May 20 were 644, 624 and 551kg/10a, respectively. The seeding on April 30, the optimum seeding time, resulted the highest yield. Rice quality was decreased due to the increase of the green kerneled rice as the seeding date was delayed.
